"I'm OK - more than OK - everything is so wonderful.."
"Uh huh," came the dubious reply from the doubtful Isuelt. Her dark eyes caught the glint from Eddie's chain and ring, though she would have guessed the source of Eddie's jubilant mood even without seeing the props.
Isuelt remained still, silently watching her younger Sister for a while longer. She was not aiming to scrutinize Eddie with her steely stare as she did common criminals, but the subtle nuances of Isuelt's perception techniques were lost on most. Perhaps that is the reason she always got such a tough rap and a reputation for being less than congenial.
She reached out with a bare finger to hook the chain at Eddie's collarbone and lift it up for closer inspection. "That's new," Isuelt had worked so diligently to keep herself guarded for so many years, that even in a tender moment such as this could have been, she seemed more peeved than curious.
The question in her mind was "What's his name?" Although she kept it quiet for now, wondering if Eddie would divulge the information of her own accord. Isuelt knew that she stood as one of the Elder Priestesses here in RhyDin, and while she was by no means High Priestess, she had come to be looked up to by her Sisters. She had neither asked for nor refused the role that she was placed into. And while she most often kept a hardened exterior on most issues such as romance, she knew that her Sisters were only human and were finding life callings of their own. After all, not everyone who entered a romantic relationship or married left their Scathachian duties in the world. On the contrary, many Priestesses left the Island to pursue a mate and produce offspring that would hopefully return to the Island for training. It was just that Isuelt felt extremely responsible for the welfare of these women who had left the Island and the watchful eye of their High Priestess, Lenai. Isuelt knew that the Scathachians were heading for a war, and their physical well-being was already weighing heavily on her mind. Now, it would seem that she would have their emotional well-being to worry about as well.
