The past couple of weeks had been the happiest Eddie had ever known. Her sleep was more restful - she hadn't had a nightmare, or if she did, she didn't remember it. Her happy, bubbly nature was more obvious - nothing seemed to upset her - except those who committed crimes against the innocent. She'd stepped up her patrols, with a viciousness that surprised even the most hardened criminals - her Justice was swift and deadly..

After her Temple duties, Eddie flitted back to her room, her fingers wrapped about the ring she wore, and she was doing something she'd never done before - she was singing, a song they danced to still in her head. The notes were soft, but they echoed in the Sanctuary halls.

Over the past few days, Isuelt had been promising herself a rest. Things were seemingly smoothing themselves out in the WestEnd and no new catastrophes were gunning for her attention. However, it came as no surprise to this Scathachian that as soon as she made good on her promise to herself and found some time to relax in the rear gardens, that something would poke its head up.

That "something" came in the form of a strangely affected Diana, who had been dreamily wandering around the Sanctuary for several weeks now. Isuelt, while not bringing grand attention to Eddie's whistful mood, noticed how the youngest of Scathach's Daughters had been happily mooning about the hallways and employing a sweet far-away expression during dinners and the like. Something was definitely up with Eddie, and Isuelt was wondering what his name was.

So, as Isuelt was soaking up the warmth of the afternoon sun in the rear gardens, she heard Eddie's humming from just inside the east doorway. One eye opened and Isuelt looked toward the footsteps. Eddie had presumably been wandering the halls yet again, and had wandered outside the east door. The herbs and flowers surrounding the small stone walkway smiled back to the young Scathachian as her elder Sister watched. This would be an interesting conversation...

"Eddie?" Isuelt's hands were lightly laced over her midsection as she reclined on the grassy ground, "You okay over there?" She watched her younger Sister twiddle with a curious piece of jewelry on a chain at her neck. That was new.

Eddie had indeed wandered toward the rear gardens - or waltzed, as the case may be. She had spent a blissful mid-morning in the Market, hand in hand with Jaden, enjoying tea and each other's company before their respective afternoon duties. Bare feet twirled about to the melody in her head, the grass tickling her toes as she danced alone in the garden - at least until the gravelly voice of her Elder caught her attention..

A blush rose in her cheeks as she saw Issy reclining in the afternoon sun, and Eddie padded over to sit in the grass next to her, a smile bordering on sappy lighting up her face.

"I'm OK - more than OK - everything is so wonderful.."

The chain hung free, shining silver against her black fitted tee - and her fingers caught up the ring suspended from it. It was of heavy silver, the Pi Omega Pi crest set atop a pale blue stone, and obviously way too big for her hand. It sparkled in the sunlight, just like her eyes.

"I'm OK - more than OK - everything is so wonderful.."

"Uh huh," came the dubious reply from the doubtful Isuelt. Her dark eyes caught the glint from Eddie's chain and ring, though she would have guessed the source of Eddie's jubilant mood even without seeing the props.

Isuelt remained still, silently watching her younger Sister for a while longer. She was not aiming to scrutinize Eddie with her steely stare as she did common criminals, but the subtle nuances of Isuelt's perception techniques were lost on most. Perhaps that is the reason she always got such a tough rap and a reputation for being less than congenial.

She reached out with a bare finger to hook the chain at Eddie's collarbone and lift it up for closer inspection. "That's new," Isuelt had worked so diligently to keep herself guarded for so many years, that even in a tender moment such as this could have been, she seemed more peeved than curious.

The question in her mind was "What's his name?" Although she kept it quiet for now, wondering if Eddie would divulge the information of her own accord. Isuelt knew that she stood as one of the Elder Priestesses here in RhyDin, and while she was by no means High Priestess, she had come to be looked up to by her Sisters. She had neither asked for nor refused the role that she was placed into. And while she most often kept a hardened exterior on most issues such as romance, she knew that her Sisters were only human and were finding life callings of their own. After all, not everyone who entered a romantic relationship or married left their Scathachian duties in the world. On the contrary, many Priestesses left the Island to pursue a mate and produce offspring that would hopefully return to the Island for training. It was just that Isuelt felt extremely responsible for the welfare of these women who had left the Island and the watchful eye of their High Priestess, Lenai. Isuelt knew that the Scathachians were heading for a war, and their physical well-being was already weighing heavily on her mind. Now, it would seem that she would have their emotional well-being to worry about as well.

Eddie's cheeks colored up in a rosy blush when Issy caught up her chain, her Elder's eyes full of unasked questions. She hadn't intended to keep her relationship secret - but with all the patrols, the constant search for the killers of the West End, there hadn't been a free moment to share the news.., until now. Her fingers reached to gently brush the ring as it dangled near Issy's fingers.

"Jaden gave these to me, three weeks ago. He's not like anyone I've ever met - he's kind, sweet, gentle - it's like I can tell him anything." Her smile softened.

"He's the President of the Pi Omega Pi house - that big compound on the other side of town - he's responsible for all the brothers in the House. They watch over twins that lived in the streets - they're so cute, and Jaden loves spending time with all the kids."

Almost as if reading Issy's mind, Eddie continued. "I don't have to hide who or what I am from him - he knows. And he knows everything - the good bad and even the ugly. We stumbled on a mugging one morning - in broad daylight, and I sprang into action, you know? And he didn't run screaming."

The youngest Sister looked over at her Elder, seeing how she'd react to all this.

The toughened pad of her pinky finger lightly traced over her lips as she watched Eddie tell of her Jaden. Isuelt remained quiet and attentive; the light that shone behind Eddie's eyes would have made her namesake quite proud.

After a beat, Isuelt drew a deep breath and looked down at the shale rock which was the foundation for this part of the garden. She nodded slowly and brought a smile up to meet Eddie's eyes. "Good," simple but honest. "The fact that you can be yourself is probably the very best part of that." Her smile widened as she looked to her younger Sister, "I would hope that you wouldn't hide anything from me either. I have no aversion to my Sisters being happy and, or finding mates. Phin, on the other hand..." Isuelt grinned and left it at that. "You take care of each other in these dark days, that is something worth fighting for, no?"
