"Y'know I can't do that, Lad...Why do you even try to ask me" Do you know what they will do if they find out more information was leaked" I mean we have 2 confirmed dead already! Everyone knows that, and details are leaking fast on this, I can't add to that. I'm sorry."
"I know, I know...Look you know it wasn't them...I mean come on, them!" They bring in so much business for you all it isn't funny. I want to see this end as much as you all, and the local govts as well, but we need to have a rapport, and me running around blindly wont help. I want to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt it wasn't them, and also help stop whoever or whatever this is before it gets out of hand. Sides, what happened to freedom of information?"
"Mister Raven— Brian...Look, lad. We can't disclose this, not yet. I mean the poster alone— Damn it. Alright, look...This is you and I, and I mean it boyo. Plus, I want compensation?"
"Now we're talking O'Rourke, what— Compensation' What kind?"
"Some baked goods, lad. Something to take home to the Missus. Something special. Promise that, and you got your in on this."
"That's it' How bout the best muffins you have ever had in your entire life" I give you a basket of these freshly baked bad boys and we're square?"
"Well, a little extra from time to time couldn't hurt, y'know" I mean when the Missus has a sweet tooth, I need to come through."
"Ah, now I see...Fine. Meet me later, in at 'Youstuba's' in the Market Square."
"That little two story place with the green hair girl serving" The one with the panther for an advertisement in front' Okay, I know the place."
"You should know it, I've seen you there in the mornings, getting your coffee and pastries. See ya there after your shift and no cops.."
"Oh that was almost funny, lad. Now vamoose before someone, starts talking."
Brian nodded to the old Watchman, as he then turned and exited the WestEnd Militia Holding Office, and made his way down that familiar walkway. It has been months since Brian had last been here, and back then he was a prisoner. He was picked up in a bad way, just down from his ex wife's former residence. Assault on an Officer and Drunken Disorderly were the charges, of course in the end it had been taken care of. Back then he was in the stead of Marfa's Abbey and her daughters.
Back then he met O'Rourke, who had been kind to him and offered sage like advice, despite the fact that Brian had injured some of his co workers during the arrest. Brian was fond of the older man in many ways, as he was a street smart 'old school' kinda law man to an extent, he was about the streets, and had a sense of honour to a degree, plus he was intelligent, far more than he let on. He could have easily had a command of his own with his background, and yet chose to remain at his desk dealing with the common folk and what not. It said a lot about him, and Brian knew that he was the man to see in regards to some kind of help with this mystery enveloping WestEnd.
Brian hoped whatever the older man would bring to the table, it would be enough to give them some kind of an edge, maybe they could start going on the pre-emptive instead of waiting. Still assumed steps were being taken against this possible threat, as he had seen Jewell roaming the rooftops lately, the most recent being that rainy night. That was something she normally had not done, and he had to assume she too was out looking for something, plus he had spoke to Eddie and Jenai in detail as to what the public at large had been saying, and hoped whatever O'Rourke brought would prove better than what they had at present which was a load of speculation. Soon he would have his answer.
