The Run by Shower had worked and the powder she'd saved mixed helped her headache melt away completely. She mouthed the words Thank You with a smile as she looked heaven bound.

The Predawn was just about to be giving way.

She Floated down the halls with the twists and twirls of her newly taken black Temple Silks about her bare feet. The scent of Holly and Spice floated from her and greeted her nose waking her up even more. With silent feet she softly cracked open the door to Eddie's private room. She knocked softly as she did though, there was no sense in being rude.

"Eddie, rise and shine" she spoke so softly and full of cheer as she padded across the floor.

With feather like drift, Newly made white silk spread across the foot of her bed. On the very hem of one of the folds, an embroidered sun no larger then a coin showed. It was Jen's little way of marking them special just for Eddie. For to Jenai, Eddie always seemed to be like the sun, a bright warming spot in everyone's life. Why it was on the hem you might wonder? Another wish from Jen that the sun might always light and warm her path as she has for some many, and many more to come.

"I will have a quick breakfast waiting for you, so when the day breaks we will be ready"

And just as quietly Jenai slipped back out to work on their breakfast.

Eddie stirred, then awoke to the soft knock on her door. For the first time in many nights, she slept without the old nightmare haunting her, actually smilnig as she threw her covers back - she couldn't remember exactly what she dreamed, only that it was nice.

Seeing the new white silk robe made her full-out grin, and after a quick shower-off, Eddie pulled the silk over her head, settling the garment all around her, the folds whispering at her bare feet, the little sun peeking out from the hem as she walked. She ran fingers through her nearly dry hair, letting the strawberry locks fall loose to just past her shoulders.

Then, remembering Jenai saying something about breakfast, she slipped out of her room and padded to the kitchen, grinning as she smelled no hint of smoke.

"Good morning Jenjen - they fit perfectly" So what?s on for breakfast?"

"Good Morning Eddie" she chimed back as she came back around the breakfast table, a plate in each hand.

"It's not the robes that fit the woman, it's the woman that fits the robes. I hope you slept well enough. Today will be a pretty simple day. But for breakfast....scromlettes, well I think thats what they are called."

Scrambles eggs that forgot to be scrambled, an omlette that was already broken. Both plates had just enough to see them thru till lunch and a good spoonful of salsa on top. To keep the chill off as they went to work so early.

"Today we will just go over the basics of opening, lighting the fires, first prayer, and lighting the way," she put one of the plates for Eddie and took a seat with hers.

"We'll talk to some of the others today and see what shifts might be switched and when, so that I can take you on some of the out reach trips I take, introduce you to a few people. And....if we are lucky we can get a nap in and then I can teach you the closing."

The closing was more just a word then an actual act, Jenai never really closed the temple, but at night they had far fewer visitors and would ward up the place and lock the side gate. They never knew when they would need the temple, and in times like these in a place like this....there was never any telling.

Eddie gave her Sister a smile, and took her plate - digging into the eggs and salsa. She usually didn't have much of an appetite, but today, she was hungry. Perhaps the sleep made a difference.

"Yeah I did sleep good for a change. For the first time in ages, I had nice dreams." She was just about finished with her eggs now. "I'm so excited - I've been wanting to learn the Temple duties for as long as I can remember!" She was quite literally bouncing now. She had often watched the Priestesses on the Island performing their duties when she was a little girl, and was told she must wait unti she became of age. Now she was, and she could barely contain herself. She gave her big Sister a big hug.

"I won't let you all down - so we ready to start?"

"I hope the troubles with slumber are just due to, well the work. I only say hope because when we find this person, you will be resting all the better."

She reached out and smoothed an imaginary strand of Eddie's that had gone astray. hearing her say she had been waiting was perfect! She would enjoy it and see it in a better light then a chore, or a simple duty.

Even though every Woman that stepped off that island had the same Faith, each had a Special Calling within that Faith. Jen had been brought up just for the Temple for reasons unknown to her....but it felt so right all the while. This must be Eddie's. Someone so pure of light and mind took to it like a duck to water.

"I know you won't Eddster, never have. And yep...lets get this ball rolling."

She took small book from off of the other counter, a crisp binding and smelled of new pages. Jen loved that smell, along with many others...but a new book smelled like wisdom to her. The pages were all blank waiting for Eddie's ink.

As they walked she looked over and handed it to her, "This you can use to jot down the wards I'll be teaching you, until you have them memorized, a few names of people you might meet once in a while or even everyday. And of course a list of things or whatever...how ever you want to use it."

They stepped before the temple double doors, massive wood carved right here in Rhydin, the scales on one door the swords on the other. Stories they learned as they grew up where carved into a running story line since the beginning of the Island along it's edges. The Crafters knew "what" they were...but not what they "told" some things were just easier to be left unexplained.

Jenai unlocked the ward the held the doors with much practiced turn of hands and softly spoken words. As she reached out and pulled open the doors, the scent of candles and polish floated out.

"I can teach you a few tricks to make scribing in your book easier...but tomorrow...you get to practice this one."

Eddie took the little book from Jenai, her excitement bubbling over. Her earliest memories involved weapons - for reasons known only to the Elder Sisters, she had been kept from the Temple, her training focusing on the various fighting styles emplyed by the Scathachians. Perhaps they wished to be sure she would be safe in the outside world, knowing she was shorter than most Scathachians. Even so, the Temple called her, and she spent the time not in training sitting in the Temple, listening to the prayers, even adding some of her own as she grew older.

"Thank you - this'll make a perfect little journal for me, someplace I can keep my thoughts."

She listened carefully as Jenai unlocked the doors, both with her hands and her words. The familiar stories carved into the doors comforted her, as did the scent of the candles and polish - taking her back to her childhood. She flashed a grin to Jenai as she spoke.

"You mean you can write without a pen" I can't wait to learn! So - what?s first?"

Eddie peeked into the Temple, staying by Jenai's side as the doors swung fully open, bare feet peeking out from the hem of the long white silk robes. Her new book was open, and she was ready to write down everything she learned.
