Shawna Darksyn

Her mistress wanted her to keep a close eye on these women, so there was no choice but to obey. The fact that Danica thought that they would become a problem in the future was enough reason to order Shawna into their den. It wasn't that Shawna was nervous, far from it, it was just that she didn't think they'd hold the advantage Danica thought they would while other forces in the city were dividing the Sisters' attention.

Shawna saw absolutely nothing wrong with sneaking around, out of the enemy's sight while louder, more volatile parties occupied them. Succubi were no strangers to quiet manipulation from the shadows, after all.

Still, Danica had insisted and Shawna could not refused. So she wore the same human guise she often wore, a young blond woman just out of her teens with bright blue eyes. She wore a black, leather skirt with a tight, dark brown, leather top, and fishnet stockings and black high heels. Looking the part of the distressed young woman was simple by drawing on very recent memories, so her sadness would look almost genuine.

She strode up to the front gates of the Sanctuary and grasped the knocker. She slammed the knocker against the great door three distinct times and then waited. All she knew about these Sisters is that they helped those that were in need, so they couldn't possibly turn her away after the pity act she was ready to put on.

The diminutive young woman at the gates and her knock got the attention of one Delphinea Quinn. Always revering herself as more of a priestess than a warrior, though she was certainly no slouch as a warrior as she held the current title of Warrior of Scathach from her victories in the many competitions held on the Island of Shadow, Phin opened the gates to this young girl in her obviously pitiful state.

"Welcome little sister. Your wayward travels have ended, welcome to the Sanctuary. How may the Daughters of Scathach aid you in your quest for justice?" The nearly platinum blonde of her hair caught the sun's light in such a way that there seemed to be a halo of illumination upon this hulking priestess of the war goddess as she issued the usual greeting to this young lady. "Have you met with ill-fate" Are you in need of food or shelter? For we have both for those who ask. Come inside so that we may further be of assistance; for all who come to the powerful Mother Scathach are cared for and lifted upon her victorious shoulders."

Such a lofty welcome, but then again, Phin fancied herself as something of an emissary as well. Imposing as she was, her tanned face sported a benevolent expression in her emerald eyes as she stepped back to allow this young woman entrance to the grand marble-floored foyer. A soft breeze wafted through the hallways; all of the sliding doors which led to the central courtyard were open in this warm summer weather, carrying the scent of lavender, marigold and jasmine from the gardens.

Phin lowered her voice just then, dipping from her official tone to one of compassion, "Come in and be saved, little sister."

Shawna's eyes widened in legitimate surprise at the sight of Delphinea?the woman's stature and physique were truly impressive. Only for a moment did she forget why she was here, but quickly recovered. She put on her best tear-filled smile of relief then, having worn and practiced it dozens of times in the past, and clasped her hands together.

"Oh, thank you," she said with a lip quiver. "I lost my home in a village down the road in a terrible fire. I had nowhere else to go. I heard that the Scathachians help people like me, so I came here."

She stepped through the welcoming open doors of the Sanctuary, letting her eyes sweep over the interior. It was a pleasant place, she mused to herself. Now, on the inside, while she played her part of the hapless victim of circumstance, she could watch these Scathachians closely for her mistress. They wouldn't even be able to scratch their butts without Danica hearing about it.

"A fire?" Delphinea's thick arms ushered the young woman in and her sandaled footfalls continued down the marbled hallway with their guest. "That is a great tragedy. Were there casualties" Do you have family that we may care for or contact on your behalf?"

As she led the young woman down the hall and past several closed doorways, the blonde behemoth continued, "I am called Delphinea. What is your name, little sister?" Soon the hallway opened up into a large chamber with high ceilings, warm wooden floors and white washed walls. The scent in the air was definitive of fresh green herbs and soap. The room was a segue to a chamber which was larger still and housed a beds of white linen, each surrounded by fine white netting. Each bed had a small truck at its foot with a clean pile of cotton towels upon it. There were only two beds, toward the far end of the chamber that seemed to be claimed.

"You may stay here for as long as you need. Where is this village of yours" Should we send aid" Will there be more of your people coming?" Delphinea was nearly bending down to the young girl, trying to be more on her level. Her emerald eyes were the very portrait of charity and goodness. Such is the kind who are most often taken in, no"

Shawna thought back grimly to the village that Danica had set aflame by subtly influencing the fire in the local inn's hearth. Allowing herself to frown and shed a tear, she moved over to one of the beds and sat down.

"My name is Shawna Darksyn," she replied, gently pressing the mattress, testing its firmness. "My family was lost in the flames along with many others." She remembered watching with a sense of numbness as the villagers ran back and forth, trying to put out the spreading fires with futility. Her mistress had been increasing their strength to maximize the destruction so that Shawna's story to the Scathachians could be believable. In a former life, she might have found such actions deplorable, but now she didn't really feel any reaction to the scene.

"The village is just several miles down the road to the east along the river," she went on. "I don't know how many people survived, but it wasn't very many and I don't know if anyone else has thought of coming here. Some might, I can only guess."

Delphinea's mighty shoulders rose and fell with a sorrowful sigh as she looked at the girl upon the small bed. "I grieve for your family, Shawna. I am truly sorry for their loss and the loss of the rest of your village. It is no secret that the foul winds of this plane have been rearing their heads as of late and it is up to those that would stand against their wicked fury to temper the lives of those who would run from such evilness." She took a few steps toward the girl and bowed slightly. "You have chosen aright to come to us. And any of your village, should they require food, shelter or medical attention will receive the same welcoming as you. We serve all peoples who need help."

She studied the girl for a few moments, genuinely heartbroken for her. For it was not unlike several of the Scathachians who, as children, had been brought to the Island of Shadow to start over, to be trained as a warrior. Delphinea herself had not, however. Her mother was a Scathachian, as had her mother been before her, and hers before her. All the way back to her Great Grandmother and her Great Great Grandmother who both held the rank of High Priestess.

Delphinea's emerald eyes ventured toward another arched doorway, opposite of the route they'd taken into the room in which they now were. "If you'd like, I can show you where you can wash up before your meal?" Although she was mostly thought of as a hulking warrior, Delphinea could turn a gentle disposition when it was warranted.

The wolf in sheep's clothing smiled as her story was bought in full, although the Scathachian would take it as a smile of sincere thanks. Her hands went over the spread covering the bed, finding its texture delightfully soothing. One thing that these Sisters didn't lack for was quality quilting.

Shawna nodded when the offer to show her where to wash off was given. "Oh yes, please," she replied in eagerness. "My travel here has been a wearying one and I would find a bath to be most soothing."

She stood from the bed, eyes only momentarily following Delphinea's own, and allowed the larger woman to lead the way.
