Moon lay restlessly on her nest of precious gems and baubles within the impossible confusing network of caves she called her lair. She now had a set of Four firewater opals, of which she'd until recently believed there to be only two in existence. And Karadis. Ah yes, she couldn't forget him, now could she. Not only had she granted him his own chambers in her lair, but now it seemed they were a mated pair. The thought troubled her a little. It had happened while she was in season.
She snorted. The very thought of being in season like a common animal had always angered her, but she could not fight her nature. But at least he had not tried to force her. Instead he'd tempted her with promise of power, respect, glory. things she had hungered for a long, long time. tired of elves calling her "tainted" Dragons saying she had no pride. No more. Her own family would have power and respect, and so would she. She flopped onto her back, sending a shower of small rubies to the outer edge of the cavern, and watched as flames from the next cavern's lava pools reflected crimson light through them, idly.
Her tail coiled loosely around the skull of some poor beast unlucky enough to have been alive when she had been hungry, crushing it with almost no effort. Her new mate, she mused. Would he keep his word? She hoped so. She not only found him attractive, but the lure of so much power was quite tempting indeed. She had to make sure he wouldn't want to leave, now she'd found another mate. After a string of being left, she was not at all keen on the idea of of being left again. She was distracted by a pitiful bleating. She'd forgotten the goat she'd brought back as a late snack. She rose to taloned feet, and moved swiftly.
The goat probably never felt a thing, seeing as it's head, with attached spine were now dangling like some demented toy from her talons. She dropped the head, and tore into the soft, lifeless body, oblivious to the carnage. Blood never bothered her. She bit through sinew, and guzzled the organs with glee. Kidneys, heart and liver, warm and delicious...Lungs were not bad either. But she especially loved the softer organs, soft and slick. She shivered in delight, and after some time, was sated. She stood over the carcass, mostly fur and bones, really, and lifted it. She walked out of her nest chamber, through the lava pools. The carcass was tossed in and she went in search of Karadis, still blood covered. Perhaps he would be interested in licking it off of her....
