Topic: Proposal: In Memoriam (OOC) webpage

For years, I have had a TODO item of creating an (OOC) "In Memoriam" webpage on this site. It has always been lower priority to fixing bugs, redesigns, et. al. The sad news that another player has died spurs me to finally make it a reality.

I am thinking a listing would consist of a real name, character names, and the year of death. Birth year would be optional, if interesting.

I need help with this. Please reply to this thread with any relevant information you have. It will be compiled into a permanent non-forum webpage.

Thank you.

I'm not so sure putting someone's real name on here is such a great idea.

I suppose. Perhaps just first name?

Using real names is probably a terrible idea. The person is not here to consent.

I agree on not using the player's real name. Perhaps just a small list of a few of the characters they played would be enough. As Canaan's player said. Adding their full names without their consent would just feel and be wrong.

Same, same. A list of the characters, perhaps a familiar nick name that they were comfortable using, and our memories.

I was asked to make a post to let the community know that we have lost another pillar of our community and a brilliant woman.

The player behind Gem passed away on 1/5/19.

Donations can be made in her name to the wounded warrior project per her wishes.

I am checking with those who were closest to her to determine what information can be shared. I will update when possible.

**Update: I was able to confirm that sharing her obituary was within her wishes and okay to do. The information to make a donation in her name is available there as well.

Gem we love you. Thank you for 20+ years of great storytelling.

The world has lost yet another amazing storyteller. :(

While I find comfort that she's no longer battling cancer, I'm saddened for the family she has left behind. The hardest moment after one loses a parent is when you reach for the phone or turn to share something with Mom or Dad and realize you'll never be able to do that again in this lifetime.

I'm going to ring a bell or two for her and a few others that we've lost.
