Topic: Digital Chatter From Hell

Simone stared at the weird demon with thick glasses, and a freaking pocket protector. She couldn't help but chuckle a bit even as she looked down at the box in her hand. "What is this?" From the graphic it looked kind of like a phone. "I already have a phone." The dark fae added.

Milton heaved a deep annoyed sighed and looked up from his note pad. "Ms Lyl wants us to keep phone support in house. That's my job."

"Ah, why?" She gave the tech demon a look, while reaching for her own phone and sending a quick message to the lady in question with agile thumb action.

Text to Lady In Red: Why do we need our own "In House" phone support" Milton stood waiting for Simone to sign for her new digital toy, while casually tapping something into the pad he was holding.

Text reply from Lady In Red: Because human tech is inferior.

Text reply from Lady In Red: "Paradise Lost' is the best IT company in all the realms of Hell.

Text reply from Lady In Red: Hackers don't stand a chance. Be nice to Milton.

Text to Lady In Red: Ok. Got it.

"Okay, I guess that makes no sense at all." Her phone went into her back pocket. A frown following with a lift of her chin. "I am not giving up my own phone. I am used to it and have way to many contacts to transfer over."

"No need to. Thumb print here please." He held out that gleaming red tablet and she politely pressed a thumb to the box. "Now, your phone is on the network. All calls in and out are untraceable. For now anyway."

"Just like that?" Simone didn't understand all this techno speak in the least. All she cared about was that it worked. "What is this anyway?" She held up the box he had handed her earlier.

"It's a tablet." The clich' looking Tech Demon said almost condescendingly before he turned and walked off, pushing heavy glasses up on his nose.

"What do you mean "For now anyway?" Do you expect that to change?" She called after the demon as that rather sounded ominous somehow.

Stepping into the elevator he merely shrugged at her and was gone.

"Merde."

So's th' tech demon geek guy approached me at my station in th' Shadowdown lobby where I was stationed.

There I was, all comfortable and stuff, leaning back in some chair they got from th' crazy house what went under. 'Kay, never say I didn' not lie, it was a metal gurney to keep th' loony toons all secure an' whatnot. I bent it inta an office chair. I kept th' restraints on th' thing, figuring anyone that had th' guts ta enter an' cause trouble would be extra cautious if th' security guy seemed ta have just broken free. 'Specially if that security guy was me. Anyways, back ta th' story...

Th' tech demon geek guy approached me at my station in th' Shadowdown lobby where I was stationed. An' he hands me this thing. I know what a cell phone looks like. Never needed one.

So's I look ta him and says, "Why?"

He says, "Why what?"

I says, "Why this, ya mook?" I preceded ta show him what he just handed me, because if he turns it inta an Abbott an' Costello routine, I'm gonna turn his head backwards so he can see me kicking his ass.

"New rule passed down from Lyl.", he says.

"Ah.", says me. "Fair 'nough. Go away afore I make ya eat yer glasses and pocket protector, pleeb. Go bother someone else."

He does.

I use th' thing. It's a big ol' one and talon accessible. I text Lyl. Text to Lady In Red: What's the big deal with the phone"

Text reply from Lady In Red: Everyone in the building needs to have one.

Text reply from Lady In Red: Especially you, scaly.

Text to Lady In Red: First the glamour crud and now this?

Text reply from Lady In Red: Your number on everyone's quick dial is 9.

Text to Lady In Red: Yeah, like 9-1-1. I get it.

Text reply from Lady In Red: No, it was just the way it worked out.

Text reply from Lady In Red: But if that makes you feel better... My boss sent me here ta do a job. He never told me about sarcastic managers.

"State Of My Head" Shinedown https://youtu.be/Kv0B-DLtMiM Tune playing on Dominick's Cell

Oh, my eyes are seein" red Double vision from the blood we've shed The only way I'm leavin" is dead That's the state of my, state of my, state of my head

They don't know, where we've been We got that concrete street skin The only way I'm leavin" is dead That's the state of my, state of my, state of my head

Here he was, running for his life. . . AGAIN! His Grams sent him on a job, which seemed simple enough. Take a box and deliver it to an Underworld Crime Boss. All very straightforward and all that.

NOTHING is ever simple. He was learning that on his feet fast these days. He sprinted out again, ducking behind more crates littering the docks. That Crime Boss had hit him with something. Domi didn't know what and had rendered his shadow walking ability moot. He could only hope it was a temporary thing because he didn't want to be the ONLY Demon unable to do it. His siblings would NEVER let him live that down.

There did come a pause where he was able to catch his breath as the Hell Goons roamed about, hunting him in far too obvious places. Wiping the blood from his battered face, he pulled out his phone. He then started to tap into it, as quietly as possible. Text to Lady In Red: WTF Grams!"!!!!!!!!!!" Text to Lady In Red: WTF"!!!!" A bloody hand!" DEMON crime Boss!" Text to Lady In Red: A warning would hve be nice Grams! I'm bleeding all ovr the plac here!!!!

He prided himself on not allowing misspells in even his text messages. Something about being the kid of a librarian. But, times be a changing. He didn't have time even for autocorrect. Besides, 'disembodied" would likely turn into 'dissembled" and "Demon' could end up being "Lemon". None of them being funny to him at the moment. Later, yeah, right now, hell no!

He flipped his phone in to buzzmode and took off again. They might be bigger than him, and hit like a mac truck, but he was faster. He had managed to take out one with well-placed kick: He thanked his steel toed jack boots for that. Another, he tripped into the water between a large boat and the docks. Demon Fido didn't resurface. Now the remaining two were trying to sniff him out and he was doubling back and forth to confuse them.

Oh yeah, "Go visit your grandmother" he said. "She might understand you." he said.

Seems to Dominick, his dad forgot something major. Domi would get over broken heart, alright. All because at this rate, some demon lord was going to rip it from his chest. Forcefully!

If Gram's idea of keeping him busy was ANY indication that is.

She was sitting at her desk at Shadowdown LLC. Across from her sat Milton with his tablet in hand running through the report of the completion of his task. It wasn't like she didn't already know that they had all received their office phones and tablets. All of them had texted her immediately upon getting the little boxes. Half had grumbled and complained to some degree or other. A few had actually threatened to smash the things. One had to be retrieved from a toilet.

Of course the toilet incident had been explained as an accident. However, Lyl suspected that he had tried to flush it away. That demon had always hated anything tech. Of course, she was going to have a very long private conversation with him later to straighten out that matter.

At the moment though, she was sitting there listening to Milton run through the list of names. Once he had finished, he passed the tablet over to her to review and then put her own thumbprint as acknowledgement of his completion of task. As soon as he exitted the office, and the door was closed behind him, she picked up her phone. Placing her hand over the face of the device, her words started appearing on the screen.

Text to Shadowdown LLC: Greetings to everyone. Now please don't bother replying until I let you all know that I am finished, otherwise we are going to all be here all day long and we all have to much to get done.

Text to Shadowdown LLC: I have just met with Milton and am aware that each of you have your new phones.

Text to Shadowdown LLC: These are for business. While you can use it for your personal use, remember to conduct Shadowdown business here when you are out of office.

Text to Shadowdown LLC: For those of you who like to challenge authority or test boundaries, let me remind you that I will help you understand why I am Fallen's Top Soul Sucker and Nightmare Inducer.

Text to Shadowdown LLC: And for you soulless creatures, remember you have other things I can drag from your undead corpses.

Text to Shadowdown LLC: With that said, let the replies commence.

Text to Domi: I sent you to deliver a package. You didn't think that I was sending you to Santa Clause, did you?

She opened a drawer to her desk and pulled out the bottle of pain killers while the multiple texts started rolling in. Sometimes being the One In Charge was not all it was cracked up to be.

"Terrible Lie" Nine Inch Nails https://youtu.be/horLLxUj3nM Current tune playing on Dominick's Cell

Hey God Why are you doing this to me" Am I not living up to what I'm supposed to be? Why am I seething with this animosity" Hey God I think you owe me a great big apology.

Terrible lie

Hey God I really don't know what you mean. Seems like salvation come only in our dreams. I feel my hatred grow all the more extreme.

Text to Lady In Red: SRSLY Grams"

A growl and he stuffed the bluetooth into an ear and tucked the phone into a pocket. He didn't have time for it right now. He had some stomping to do. Emerging from the shadows, his form having grown considerably, red skin and all and swung. Sending one of those pursuing him flying into a shipping crate. The Crate won as the demonic goon slid down and slumped over.

Next trip he would ask questions. Because this totally sucked. It wasn't fun to have one's face kicked into concrete repeatedly.

Now, only one left to deal with it. Wiping the blood from his face with the back of his hand, crimson eyes shot around the local. A scent in the air alerted him to the danger a mere moment before a heavy form slammed into him, sending him flying backwards, sprawling, flat on his back with limbs falling in awkward angles. It was by sheer force of will that he didn't black out. Instead it just pissed him off and he was rolling up to his feet quick.

The demonic guard was a bit slower. "Boss wants yer head boyo."

"Your boss can screw off. I am most attached to my head and I am ONLY the messenger you stupid fuck!" Domi snapped back before taking another swing and missed.

"I ain't new to this game kid. Gotta do better than that." The dodging demon said with a smirk.

A second later the demonic brute charged the form that was Domi. It looked bad for our antihero in that moment. Except, the villain of the hour just sailed right through the cleverly crafted illusion. That look of surprise only lasted a moment before his target cracked his skull with a hard clobbering of a heavy pipe. Down the fiendish goon went, left unconscious and drooling on the old wood deck under his ugly mug.

Then there was none.

Pulling the phone out with a tossing of blood soaked hair and a dark muttering.

Text to Lady In Red: Do you even KNOW Santa? You don't seem his type at all Grams!

Text to Lady In Red: I think I need to renegotiate my contract. I should be getting HAZARD pay!

Turning on a heel, heavy boots thumping on the wood planks under them he stalked off towards the main city lights. Domi sent another text to his siblings while walking.

Text to The Evil Wonder Twins: I think my Grams is trying to get me killed.

He knew after he sent it, he should have considered the words. His older sister and brother were not the most sympathetic. Their responses would be likely cutting and less then helpful. Oh well, too late now. No taking it back once he hit send.

She had pulled out papers to review for the setup of her new club. There were the legal documents which she was going to review with her counsel later that evening and then there were the floor plans. Those she would be reviewing with the architect and the mage.

That was when she heard the little tune she had set up for her phone. A glance over and she noticed Domi's message. She couldn't help but smirk. Obviously the boy had managed to make his first delivery for her. She slid her hand over the little pad and the words she was thinking appeared.

Text to Domi: Yes. Seriously.

A little bit of time passed before his next message slid over her screen and set off that little tune. Now really if this boy was going to stay in conversation mode all day, he wasn't going to get anything done. Another glance and she laughed. Before she could even get the response off to that one though, his next grumble hit her screen. Well good, maybe she could get him finished and headed off at Angst Pass before he could get on a roll.

Text to Domi: Of course I know him. I sit on his lap every Christmas Eve. Who do you think gets his "Naughty List" to attend to?

Text to Domi: We will discuss that when you get back here.

Text to Domi: Because if you think this is hazardous, imagine what being in the line of fire of your sister would have been like if you continued annoying her at home. Just a little bit of perspective.

She was certainly going to have to teach this one what making a deal with the devil meant.

Bzz. Bzz. Bzz.

"What the hell?"

Bleary eyes cracked open to stare at the little offending piece of electronics on the nightstand. Quinten just lay there for a few moments, and probably should have gone back to sleep. After all, it wasn't like an actual call. A message could wait until daylight.

No, tomorrow was going to be busy. Dad's visitors were arriving, and both he and Sera would be playing tour guide for a good bit of it. So, reaching for the phone and flipping it open he squinted at the text. He sighed softly. Tappitytaptap.

Text to Domi: doubt that. Would piss off dad. Text to Domi: you wanted something to do. you got it.

The phone was tossed on the bed as he rolled over to go back to sleep. Just on that edge of entering the realm of Dreams and Nightmares he thought of something. Slapping around a few times for the phone, he sent one last message for the night.

Text to Domi: ask for hazard pay.

One sleepy violet eye peered out from under the pillow at the bell like tune her cell was making. It was still dark, but that didn't actually mean much down here in the realms of hell. A grumble as she pulled the pillow down over her head once more with a groan. It was too freaking early.

She had planned to return to sleep and answer whomever it was later. Trouble was, her phone kept on making that annoying sound and would continue to do so until she stopped it. Blindly, one hand reached for it, missing a few times before she finally caught it and pulled it over.

It was a bit blurry but she saw who it was from and just face palmed for a second or so. The statement, about his grandmother plotting his death, almost made her laugh. Considering who his grandmother was, he would be lucky to last a month. Lady Lylianne wasn't known to be easy to work for, if the rumors were true. As it was, Sera had been up most of the night, engaged with translations their father had wanted done days ago, so she wasn't in a mood to deal with her ever angsty baby brother.

Text to Baby Brother: STBU! (Translation: Sucks to be you.) Text to Baby Brother: Not my granny, she's all yours.

Not really supportive. Sera thought about that for a moment then snapped her fingers. "Oh, I know what might make him happy!" Text to Baby Brother: Fel got dumped by Belb's nephew. Didn't even last a week. U R welcome.

Returning the phone to her nightstand, Sera crawled back under the covers, burying her dark head back into her pillows and went right back to sleep.

Asking for it Shinedown https://youtu.be/e9k1bcE2zfg Current tune playing on Dominick's Cell

Careful what you say and who you say it, who you say it to Careful what you say and who you say it to Maybe you talk too much And you were asking for it, asking for it, asking You can blame bad luck But you were asking for it, asking for it, asking When all is said and done You need to tie your tongue Cause when you spit on everyone You are, you are you know you're asking for it, asking for it, asking

Leave it to Lyllianne to have an answer for the whole Santa business. She was likely telling the truth for all he knew. Still, it wasn't easy sassing his Grandmother.

"Oh, we are gonna "Discuss" this Grams." He muttered, rolling eyes at the last text message from Lyllianne. "Come on! Sheesh." Sera hadn't killed him yet, and he had been even worse when he was younger.

Leaning against the brick wall outside of a bar located near the docks, he sent a response to his Lyllianne.

Text to Lady In Red: Oh yes. We will discuss this very soon, Grandmother.

Knowing the lady, she would sense just how droll he being.

Turning his attention next to the messages received from his older brother. Domi didn't really expect anything helpful but did smirk at the last send.

Text to Quint: Yeah, yeah. I get it. Careful what you wish for and all that rot. Text to Quint: I mentioned "Hazard Pay' and got "We will discuss that' and I fully intend to 'discuss" it a LOT. Domi gots to get paid for the bruises!

Last was his rather bitchy sister. They used to get along years ago when he was really little and she pampered him and spoiled him rotten. Then he started playing some rather cruel tricks on her. Maybe he should apologize for being such an obnoxious little brother" He wasn't sure it would matter but one of her sends did make him smile.

His ex-girlfriend had gotten herself dumped already? She so deserved that. Now, his heart wasn't breaking, because he suddenly felt completely justified. Of course there was a sudden sick thought that Seraphina was playing a prank on him. Text to Sera: SRSLY' Is this some sort of joke, Sera?

She was finally in the middle of her meeting with the lawyer she had placed in charge of taking care of her legal affairs in this and other realms. Ms. DeVore had come highly recommended and seemed to possess the skills needed to attend to the task of keeping things, at least in the public eye, kosher.

Earlier, she had gone through the list of beauties who would be working the club. Some were quite human. Others were straight from the hells themselves. All had been well trained in how to entertain the clientelle she would be drawing to her small club.

Now, though, looking across the desk to the woman sitting across from her, she couldn't imagine anyone being so very opposite of those with whom she generally kept company. Business suit, from her straight-laced buttoned down top to her three inch high heels. The woman was going on about the books and how they had to be kept in meticulous order. While Lyllianne might generally look like she was unaccoustomed to conducting business at this level, she had been doing this sort of thing off and on for millenium. Different generation, same tactics. Create the web, draw in the little flies.

It was when Ms. DeVore finally brought out the contract that she actually perked up though. This had been her reason for calling on the woman for her services. A smile touched her lips and she sat forward holding out her hand. "May I?"

Ms. DeVore looked a little bit put out, but finally handed the papers over, "Don't you think we should review these first?"

That smile actually grew a little, "But of course, I simply wished to glance over it myself first."

After a few minutes of perusing the print she finally handed it back to the attorney, "Please continue."

Her phone buzzed at that moment, and she held up a finger to Ms. DeVore, "Let me check this. One moment." A glance down and she couldn't help smile. Her hand passed over the device and she tapped the send button with her long red nail.

Text to Domi: Bring your suggestions for this Hazard Pay, and we will see what I can do for you.

Obviously this grandson had not been given the warning not to make deals with his grandmother. That, or he truly felt that such concerns would not be his. In either case, she started thinking of how this might benefit her more. In any case, he would soon learn lessons that all in her family learned.

She then turned her attention back to Ms. DeVore and they continued their meeting until she was satisfied with the wording of the contract. This she then signed and sent the woman on her way.

"She was right. Karma was a bitch, but so was I." ― Julie Murphy

Seraphina finally looked at her phone after a long morning shower and breakfast with family and their guests. She had just finished changing for a picnic. Glancing at the blinkie, she picked it up and read what Domi had sent. She didn't get mad, because in the past she had played some mean pranks on him, all of which he deserved. For her, it was pay back for all the cruel tricks he had done to her first.

However, this time she hadn't been lying. Say the right thing to the right people and it brings eyes. In an unusual manner Sera had actually spoken the truth to the right ears and the rest, well shit happens.

Domi had been a mere dalliance for a social climbing Succubus. Her little brother had been a step up because of his own blood lines given to him by their father. Fel had found herself in higher social circles and in the realms of Hell that was a bonus that she took full advantage of. A chance to get closer to the Prince of Demons was too much to pass up. Beelzebub's nephew was just another social stepping stone.

She paused and with deftly nimble fingers, sent a quick message back to Domi.

Text to Baby Brother: No joke. Told Naxia what she did with you and why.

Text to Baby Brother: Told her how Fel bragged about the nephew. Knowing how paranoid that family is, well the rest is history.

Text to Baby Brother: Lady Lyllianne is dangerous. Have care making any contracts with her. TTYL

Sera turned off the sound and left the phone on the side table. Their guests didn't use such things so she had no reason at all to carry it along. Unlike some she wasn't as attached to the electronic device, and had no trouble at all leaving it behind.

Quinten Darcy

Date: 2016-06-14 13:22 EST
It was at some point during the afternoon that Quinten did leave the picnic to go inside, during which he took a moment to check his messages. There were four waiting. The first was a picture sent by an acquaintance of Sera and himself, who was apparently having fun on his trip to the mortal realms, if the cheesy smile and the brunette that was hanging on his arm was any indication. He just shook his head and made a mental note to make that reservation soon. Thumbing down he read the second, and chuckled softly.

Text from Dad: Having dinner. Have fun.

The last two were from Dominick. Oh, it sounded like his little brother was finding things interesting. Fingers danced on the keypad as he shot back replies to both.

Text to Dad: K. you too. Text to Domi: Think of it as an adventure. Text to Domi: could be worse. could still be with Licity. Text to Domi: Gotta go. Company.

With those sent he set the little phone on his nightstand and headed for the door. The afternoon was too nice, a rarity in the Pits even with the control his father had over the demesne, and the company even nicer.

"Devil On My Back" ~Stoney https://youtu.be/qKXidQ69Q1U Song playing on the shiny jukebox: I kill the lights, but the lies are sleepless. Night heaves with the bleakest secrets. A shadow waits in the black, and I awake with a devil on my back.

I'm contesting my reckless weakness, desperately wrestling restless demons, but all the odds are stacked, guess I'm no match for the devil on my back.

And I plead for my peace, like a dead man walking and I plead for my peace and I can't stand more of this. It was a seedy bar located near the docks. Neon flashing from many obnoxious signs in a large plate window at the front. Inside were old worn out wood on the floors, a shiny bar from years of wiping it down, and an array of local characters. Mostly sailors and fishermen with a few that may have been pirates. Most cities had such places. You know, somewhere you could go to find a decent beer and no questions asked. No one pestered you for your life story. The only woman found here were not your forever kind of girl, but more a one-night stand centered on rage sex, then you ran like hell.

Knocking back an imported beer, Guinness to be specific, Dominick checked his phone again. He didn't need to worry about being carded in this place. In fact, he had been told that no bar in RhyDin cared how old you were, as long as the money was real. He had been informed quite a bit about the location he was now in. Loose women, loads of bars, danger lurking in all sorts of spaces. It was little wonder his Grams, Star and others of a darker nature frequented this city.

Right now, he was sitting on a barstool, laughing at his sister's send. This was some priceless shit. Text to Sera: Don't tell anyone, but you totally ROCK Sera!

Next, his attention turned to his older brother. Domi wondered who this company was. He scowled at the suggestion he could still be with "Licity". He was so very over that one now. His father was right, his heart wasn't damaged at all, and with what his sister did, neither was his pride. He had escaped the nefarious grasp of a social climbing harpy. Yes, oh HELL YES! He did love the sound of that.

Text to Quinten: Company' Blond" Brunette" Or Red Head" Text to Quinten: Grams wants me to come in and discuss the "Hazard Pay".

Now, Domi did adore his grandmother. However, he wasn't a stupid kid. His father made sure of that. He knew dangers lurked even in that pretty smile of Lyllianne's. So what does a guy do when the dawning realization that he may be walking into a soul sucking mind field of death? Yes, he sent a message to his father.

Text to Dad: Grams wants me to "Bring (my) suggestions for this Hazard Pay, and we will see what (she) can do for (me)." Text to Dad: Do we have a family lawyer Dad" I have a bad feeling about all this. Any suggestions before I go talk to her" Text to Dad: Should I bring a magnifying glass to read the fine print"

While her grandson was distracted with his text messages he sent flying, she slipped from the shadows to quietly take a seat and watch the goings on about the place. Of course dressed as she was, red dress with a little more skin showing than could be considered decent even in here, she caught the eye of more than one sailor in the place. However, catching sight of her eyes and watching them begin to glow a nice crimson red turned them in the other direction to head right out the door. She watched her grandson's fingers fly over the keys, and actually had to sit there slightly amazed at how he did this. As fast as he could think it, his fingers would fly across the lettering on their screens and poof another message would appear. One other thing that amazed her was how engrossed in this box others could become. So much so that she had no problem slipping up on them sometimes. Made hunts a little less fun. Oh well. If they were going to simply turn their minds over to the boxes, might as well take advantage. With that in mind, she rose and made her way across the room to her prey, which fortunately this time was her grandson. As he sent the final text to his dad concerning the magnifying glass, she reached out and tapped a long tapered red nail against his shoulder. "You might want to ask for a microscope instead." Oh the look on that boy's face as he turned around in shock. Now that look was priceless. Suddenly he was typing out one more message to his father. Text from Domi to Dad: Oh **** dad, she's here!!!! She couldn't help but laugh at that one. "Kid, what do you think I'm going to do?" Of course she knew, just from his reaction to her statement that he probably thought she had seen more than she did. She loved that reaction in the younger generations, who hadn't come fully into their own powers yet and therefore didn't really know what their elders could or could not know or do. Always lead to pedestals, underestimating, and disappointment. While she was waiting for his answer, she took a seat on the barstool next to him. A motion to the bartender and she quickly ordered a drink. Before her grandson could actually give her a reply, she held out a copy of the contract she had had drawn up and placed it down in front of him, "For you to go over and consider." Then without further comment, she took her drink and vanished into the shadows once more leaving the tender to look at her grandson with a scowl. "That goes on your tab, son." "Yeah. Whatever."

Quinten whistled softly as he shrugged on his coat, taking a last look in the mirror before he walked back to his dresser. He slipped on one of the necklaces hanging from the little tree that his sister had gotten him for his birthday, grabbing his wallet and his cell after. Catching the little message icon he opened up his messages.

His only replies were to the texts from his little brother. Sera had already told him what she had sent Domi, and Quinten smiled, knowing that would cheer him up. Domi's questions brought a soft laugh.

Text to Domi: Redhead. And that's all you need toknow.

To be honest, he hadn't expected Domi to even broach the subject of hazard pay. It had, after all, been a kinda snarky reply in the middle of the night. But hey, if he was going to have the balls to ask his grandmother for it, more power to him.

Text to Domi: Don't let her get 1 over on you, bro.

Closing off the screen and slipping the phone into his vest pocket Quinten headed out to meet the others for their double date. If things went well it was going to be a good night. But, as with all things, one never knew what might happen in the Big Easy.

"Devil's Party" ~INXS https://youtu.be/17LNMiodysY Song that starts playing just after Lyllianne departs

At the devil's party there's no light from the sun At the devil's party, now, life's a loaded gun More or less" No, less is more Go on and be my guest Where do we belong"

I might believe it's love, you might live a little more Dreams of yours, dreams of mine Dreams of all that shine on the other side, on the other side

At the devil's party watch them stare in vain At the devil's party, now, you're no friend of mine Oh, lonely days of the road to excess When you're on fire you burn like the rest All Dominick could do was blink at his grandmother when she first appeared, but he did eventually snap out of it, when she stiffed him on the drink and vanishing. "Yeah, whatever. Can I get another Guinness please?" Yes, he had manners and used them on occasion. He even pulled out some cash and laid it on the bar top to pay for his second and Lyllianne's as well.

Picking up the contract she had left for him, he stared at it, as if it was about to grow a maw of razor sharp teeth that would inevitably try and chomp down on him. He was sure there was some deadly words hidden on the paper. He had heard the rumors from plenty and also the warnings from his dad as well. Squinting at the really fine print Dominick knew he was in trouble.

Text to Dad: She showed up and left me with her drink tab and a contract. Going to get a magnifying glass and then meet her at her office. Text to Dad: Would really appreciate some advice about this.

Shooting back the last of his second bottle of Guinness, he put the bottle down for the keep to collect and started for the exit when Quint's text hit. Snickering at the comment about his date, he then caught the second text that came in on the heels of the first.

Text to Quinten: I am hoping she doesn't. She showed up and dropped one of her infamous "contracts" on me. Text to Quinten:: I can't even read the really, really, really fine print on this damn thing. Getting a mag glass. Text to Quinten:: Is dad busy' I may need his help on this.

Dominick decided to take the long way back. He walked. No shadows this time. He needed to think and try and figure out this mess of words on paper. All the "Here in's" and "therefore" was really messing with his head. He hadn't found a nasty hook yet, but he knew, buried in the jumble of contractual language had to be some humdinger of a promise and likely required that he sign it in his own blood.

That ain't happening. No way. No how.

Quinten hadn't checked his phone for a bit. He had his attentions elsewhere. He was back home getting ready for bed when he thought to look at his messages. Reading his little brother's texts brought a soft laugh, and he sat down on the edge of the bed to start tapping the keys to reply.

Text to Domi: I'll let him know in the morning. Don't sign anything until he gets back to you.

He took a few seconds to shoot a second message after replying to Dominick.

Text to Sera: Meet me in the morning before breakfast. Need to plot.

He smirked a bit as he hit the send button, and set his phone on the end table before he turned to look toward the door leading to the bath as the light shut off. The smirk faded into a more genuine smile as he stood up and moved around to gather his guest into his arms and nuzzled into her auburn mane. Any thoughts about his little brother's travails promptly were forgotten as he leaned in to enjoy a first heady breath of jasmine and wildflowers, and an enjoyable evening began.

Getting ready for a date could be time consuming, especially when you're waiting for your ladies to finish. And thus Quinten was sitting in the foyer, having the possibly unlucky distinction of being the first ready to go out on the town. he had already spoken to his father, and the portal to the mortal realms awaited the two couples. Since he had a few moments he was looking over his messages. A few brought a smile, and one he just had to forward to his sister.

Text to Sera: You're gonna love this. Text to Sera: Fel dun stepped in it this time. Text to Sera: Check your inbox.

The picture, in which one rather haughty little demoness was on the receiving end of a demon-bitch beatdown, would likely make her laugh, given the games that one had played with thier little brother.

And that had another message shooting off into the ethers.

Text to Domi: So, how did it go?

"Crooked Smile" ~ Too Close To Touch https://youtu.be/jT5Jprtm1dQ Song playing on Domi's Cell as he starts to check his various messages:

Don't wait up, Don't waste your time, you know I'm never coming home. Feed me lies, A crooked smile is all I feel I've ever known.

Simple minded soul of mine, Waited too long to leave you behind. Always felt you in my way, A weightless chain beneath my feet.

Slowly finding the light that you've stolen. Finally looking to purge all the poison. Leaving while I can stand. When you watch me dig out from under your skin.

Dominick hit "Delete Message" on his phone with a faint smirk. Felicity was laying on the guilt and blame for her current situation on him. Sadly, for her, he didn't fucking care, and was well over her bitching and whining. She had dumped him and yet all her misery was "HIS" fault' Screw that!

His dad and grandmother did have one thing in common. That was the belief that everyone had a choice. Every action brought about a reaction. His ex-girlfriend was reaping her own rewards and he had nothing to do with that. So, with that in mind, he ignored the many messages and moved on with the slide of a thumb.

His sister had sent him a request which made Domi grumble a bit. He didn't understand her fascination with that human holiday of Yule, or as some called it Christmas. They were demons! Still, their father humored her. Orthon allowed for it, which meant some shopping was in order. Dominick didn't mind embracing the commercial side of it, and he did like getting gifts. Good thing he had just gotten a raise and hazard pay as well.

Text From Seraphina: I need a list of things you would like for Yuletide Little Brother.

Text to Sera: Check out my wishlist at Amazon. Text to Sera: Can you send me ideas for U, Quint and Dad"

Next up was a message from his brother. After some consideration, he sent a response to Quinton.

Text to Quinten: The meeting went well. Dad showed up. I'm covered. Got that Hazard Pay too. Text to Quinten: I love my Grams but I still don't trust her. Text to Quinten: What are you wanting for Yule" Do you have a wishlist at Amazon'
