Topic: Thanks and Praise!! Comments? Questions? Critiques?

I want to thank all who have come and do come and build into WestEnd, you help make this small neighborhood of greater Rhy'Din live and breathe. You deserve highest praise and thanks from me and I give it freely.

Thank you, too, for all those who have played in room, who have woven their stories and offered them up for all. Thank you.

There is a bounty of stellar writers and players here on DM's RDI and I am grateful, oh-so grateful to those of you who have let me wander and revel in your magics.

Oh, and just because I never said it in the first OOC thread, I'll say it now. If anyone has comments, questions, criticism, anything pertaining to the stories here or what?s been seen in-room, please post them all here. I'd love to see them!

Ahoy hoy~

I am amazed at all the talent here. Great job people. :)

And I really hope no one minds me posting here? I just figured WestEnd would be a good setting for my characters since they're sorta "hiding out" and WestEnd is a nifty place to hide. And I know I'm a lousy writer but it's fun to at least *try* to tell a story. And hopefully the more I write, the more it will develop. (A little tough writing from a blind girl's perspective though)

Anyhoo, I look forward to reading a bunch of great stories here! :D

Welcome!! Of course no one minds if you write here!! ::Smiles.:: And, for the record, I don't think you're a lousy writer at all. I'm really enjoying your stories. I can imagine it is tough to write from that perspective, but you're doing great! Can't wait to read more!

Just read your thread over in the OOC boards on DM, I remember you! I used to be under RDI Obsdn, but changed it to what she calls herself when I came here. Same character, just different SN.

WestEnd is a nifty place to hide, so thank you for coming to help build our strange little neighborhood!

Just taking a moment to echo the comments of my esteemed co-moderator. I'm still absolutely amazed at how WestEnd has taken off in its relatively brief existance. I'm constantly impressed by the quality of the work that goes into the threads here, and the resulting volume of readership that this forum attracts.

I can't honestly say that I've read every single post here (wouldn't have time to post or play myself if I did!), but I've at least looked in on all of the threads and an contiually thrilled at the creativity, variety, and talent in evidence. I know I've had the opportunity to post with and/or play with many of you. As for the rest of you, well, I can only hope!

Well, looks like the Westend just keeps growing and growing. Two new folders, several great writers spread througout all our folders (Welcome back Natalia!). Intrigue and adventure a'plenty. Who could ask for more?

Big thanks to Sid and ArtsBlood for creating the stage for the Westend and North side, and another big round of thanks to everyone who's posting in the folders. Excellent stories all!

Now, if only I could find me a mighty fine coat...

Thank you so much to the players of Necromesh and FioHelston for adding wonderful Local Color to the Local Color thread! Awesome! I love how those who post here have brought so much life to WestEnd, it is all I could have hoped for and more. Thank you all who write and play here.

Also, I am thoroughly enjoying the "Monsters, Gods and Demons" thread by FioHelston and very happy to see there is more in the "WestEnd Blues" story by Timothy Grey.

Hello!

I am looking for a home (folder) for Julian. Thanks to the incredibly talented and amazing Sim's creator, PrlUnicorn, I have a sprawling mansion/villa with pool, gardens and mausoleum to finally place my character out of living at an Inn and into a home.

Because it is a mansion, with green grass, trees, a mix of antiques and rather luxurious spread—I am not sure if such a place fits properly with the setting of West End. And so I am wondering two things!

1.) May I write here" 2.) Does my character/character's mansion fit at all with West End's setting" 3.) If so—I'd like to know where to say it's being "built," and start writing my character's threads here if it's permissible! 4.) If Julian's mansion or character does not fit into West End at all? I am 100% okay with that and being told so. I just don't want to assume anything without respect to the setting and its creators.

Thank you!

Sid

Hello, Julian's player.

These are all excellent questions. Hmmm....I would never turn anyone away who wanted to play interactively in a setting I initially created. That being said, WestEnd is played (and has continued to grow) fairly consistently among the players of its denizens and the general populace of Rhy'Din as being a rundown (with randomly renovated/gentrified buildings and small blocks) urbanized-type area bordering a warehouse district (which borders the docks) situated at the border that separates old town Rhy'Din from the outskirts leading into Stars End.

Still, look at the Rhy'Din map in the lower left quadrant. Many play the WestEnd as that area where you see the two walls almost intersecting perpendicularly (they are separated by a road running nearly parallel to the wall that runs from the docks eastward). Many have played taking over dilapidated buildings, or razing properties, or finding properties already in rubble that they clear and take over.

I guess what I'm saying is that you are more than welcome to write here if you think you can "build" what you want in the WestEnd, being respectful of how others "see" this area and how their characters view their home. In other words, you can build what you want but don't trash the neighborhood by claiming your manse has suddenly turned it all into Beverly Hills. Then again, maybe your character is a bit out of his gourd and that's what he sees it looking like" ::Chuckles.:: (See what I'm saying here" If you can write it plausibly and are respectful of others' play and views you can get exactly what you want, there are tons of ways to play it off.)

So yes, please come play. Add your touch to this playing field by playing interactively within this setting.

I look forward to what you create!

This makes perfect sense! And no, I wouldn't want to change the feel of West End at all—Perhaps, if it's all right with you and the others that write here, he purchases some land tucked away somewhere and renovates that for his mansion' Hiding it behind graffiti strewn walls or an illusion of some sort that makes it fit perfectly so I don't step on anyone's toes"

My character is a bit of a secretive type; hiding in West End just seemed perfect, but I don't want to change anything major of the setting or do what you described!

Thank you so much for replying! I look forward to writing here. If you'd like, I'd be happy (when I write it) to send a copy of my first post to you or anyone of the West End setting creators to see if it jives and fits before posting" And as always, if I do anything that is not kosher, please do not hesitate to contact me. I don't bite. (Julian does. :p)

This sounds great, actually. And I think it fits very well into the WestEnd. I can understand why Julian would feel the WestEnd is a fit. Years ago Sid placed a protection she's still unsure of (mostly to protect herself and hers) that effectively took the entirety of the WestEnd "off the radar" to any means - magical, tech, psionics, you name it. It is sort of a "dead zone", once someone is inside its boundaries it is nigh on impossible to find them. However, due to this things are not as stable in this area - streets and buildings may shift, magics and techs do not always work as one wishes.

Have fun with it. And you do not have to worry about sending me a draft of your first post. I will look forward to reading it, though.

Halloooo!!

First off, you are more than welcome Skid-player! I have been gone from writing and RP too long. I really want to work up some more stories dealing with the denizens and locations unique to WestEnd. I created this place because it was my homage to B-Town without necessarily being fanfic. As a shared world, aspects of my favorite place, Bordertown, just seemed to be a natural fit with Rhy'Din, at least in my mind.

As for Tick Tick and Orient, Jewell" No reason someone's own creation of two similar personalities can't find their way (or already be here) into WestEnd. Maybe the Psychic Deli would be a great place for them to live and work?

As always, have fun with this place. It is why I made it and why I wanted to share certain portions and people in all our stories, not just mine. Very soon I am going to work up the specifics on another spot I use, Dickie's Dirk & Dagger! It exists just off WestEnd on the Dockside that borders and is a favorite haunt of The Evening Shroud's Physhra Pink.

Much Magic!

Due to some recent confusions about what this board is and what it is about - Julie, the creator of WestEnd and I, Lanette (in case you don't yet know me...), her long time Play Partner and fellow conspirator, will be making some significant changes to the information in the WestEnd. We are hoping that this will make finding information about the setting easier and help others to understand what the setting is all about.

For all of you who choose to stay we want you to know that we appreciate you! You are all more than welcome to add your contributions (as always, this will never change...) to the reorganized threads but we ask you kindly to please have a bit patience as we go about the rearranging tasks.

For all of DM: Everyone has and always will be welcome to play in the WestEnd. Nothing has really changed.

The rules are easy and very basic: Play respectfully, do not break what you did not create, and have fun!!!

See? Easy.

I promise to let everyone know when we are done with the redecorating of the board....heh, I can see it however I choose, right' ;)

I ask only one tiny favor - please keep prayers and blessings in mind for Julie and her family during this time of transition. Losing a loved one is never easy and any help will always be needed and appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving the WestEnd as much as Julie, Art's Player and I do. Lan
