The Usurper Queen who thought she had annihilated Arlan's line with the deaths of all the female royals, Velasca was responsible for the corruption and withering of Arctra over the course of her seventeen year reign. Increasingly prone to fits of madness as the years went on, she chose to engage in the Battle of Loscar with the True Queen, Ariana, dishonoring her own name by attacking after the outcome of the battle had already been decided in single combat.

Profession: Wise woman/witch

Relevance: The hill woman brought into the citadel during the siege to birth Arian's children and weave the magic that clothed the girl child in her dead brother's skin for protection.

Current Whereabouts: Often seen in and around the citadel fortress of Phalion, seeming to be keeping an eye on the young Prince Adare from a distance.

Name: Meara O'Connor Makos

Profession: Healer/Midwife

Relevance: Mother of Liam O'Connor. She fled Loscar with her son when her first husband (Liam's father, Eoghan) was falsely accused of treason and executed by the Usurper's men. She and Liam escaped to the mountains, where she became vital in aiding the growing number of refugees fleeing Velasca's tyranny. She eventually remarried Gregor Makos and has since become a skilled healer and midwife.

Current Whereabouts: The rebel camp in the mountains of Arctra.
