The Bristle Crios Blood Moon
The Gaelic calendar, also known as the Irish calendar, is a pre-Christian Celtic system used to define the day, week, month, seasons, and festivals. Bristle Crios was founded in Irish roots and loves the opportunity to celebrate its cultural festivals. October, or Deireadh F"mhair, marks the end of autumn. Bristle Crios celebrates its full moon to give thanks for the bounty of the fall harvest and welcome in the winter season.
The hunter's moon, also known as sanguine moon or blood moon, is the first full moon after the harvest moon, which is the full moon nearest the autumnal equinox. The Hunter's Moon is so named because the bright moonlight is ideal for hunters shooting migrating birds in Northern Europe. The name is also said to have been used by Native Americans as they tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the winter ahead.
