Lost to the rolling green hills of Ireland is the very start of our history. Fighting against a force that sought to intimidate and destroy those of different views, Miranda Branson and Morgan Doyle met, fighting for the same team. Battle after battle they form allies, strong friendships and fell in love. The day of their wedding the same force they fought against stormed the Branson estate. During the battle many were killed, but Morgan could not find Miranda. Continuing to search despite hope, he and several others who fought along side him relocated to Rhydin. Years went by and he gained access to the old lands of Bristle Crios. Building a place where everyone could feel accepted no matter their abilities, race, or history. Through the nexus Miranda Branson came to Rhy'din and once Morgan found her the pair began to pick up where they had left off. (Link)

On several acres of pristine lands in the central northern woods above the Marketplace sits several mansions which serve as the place of residence of many. The houses provide large libraries in which to study, as well as great work spaces for craftsmen and scientific minds. Though Bristle Crios proudly supports their open door policy, there are many seen and unseen guards protecting the grounds to maintain safety. Each "house" is devoted to those with a certain specialization to allow for continued support. The House Leaders each report to Miranda Branson since Morgan's death. (Link) In his honor, his mansion, the largest house on the grounds, is used as a Welcome Center and doubles as a meeting place for coven gatherings.

Bristle Crios remains active in the Rhydin community. They hold many events all year long, though their annual moon events hold strong. In February, the Snow Moon event hosts fun winter activities. In June, the Rose Moon features summery fun flowers. In October, the Blood Moon holds entertaining fall games. Food, drinks, activities, and fun songs are featured at all events. Many events are done in conjunction with the Rings of Honor, such as pillow and jello fights. (Link) Bristle Crios has also been known to include charitable events to raise funds for many causes in Rhydin, especially the Rhydin Orphanage.

Offering even more to the community, in September of 2012, Bristle Crios founded The Academy of Bristle Crios. (Link) Its mission is to provide education to all despite age, race, or reputation. Classes are open enrollment and a seat is always available for all classes. Classes are available during the day and nights for maximum convenience for all schedules. Costs are minimal and financial assistance is available for all who apply. The Science Wing focuses on natural science, social sciences, formal science, engineering, and technology. The Mage Hall focuses on elemental magic, body controlling magic, mental-based magic, and other forms of magic. The Physical Principles Center focuses on non-combat physical skills. The Combat Annex focuses on melee fighting styles, melee weapons, and ranged weapons.

The Houses of Bristle Crios

The Bristle Crios compound sits in the northern forest of RhyDin, directly north of the marketplace. Large wrought iron gates wedged between large boulder stone walls are always open for guests with good intentions. The stone walls seemingly disappear into the forests surrounding the grounds. A short distance up a wide cobblestone road takes you to the center circle of the Bristle Crios compound, where the main houses can be seen. Each main house is reserved for specific groups, though our guests and members are welcome to visit or live in any of the other houses. Click here to learn more about the Bristle Crios setting.

Mage House is reserved for any old school magic user. Witches, enchanters, wizards, and the like are welcome with little to no experience. If magic is in your blood, we embrace you at the Mage House and invite you to learn in our great library of spells.

Vampire House is dedicated to vampiric beings, defined as a being who must drain a life force from a living being that harms that being in some way. The life force stolen may be anything from blood to spiritual energy.

Eternal House is available for those who come from mythical and ancient forces. Elementals, shapeshifters, dragons, beasts, celestials, mutants, imps, fairies, elves, merfolk, and any other mythological creatures are always welcome at the Eternal House.

Demon House is dedicated to those who define themselves as demons or undead. You certainly are not defined by dark roots and not considered evil here, unless you insist on performing evil acts. Demons, ghosts, zombies, succubae, and any other Hell spawn are always welcome at the Demon House.

Alchemy House is available for those who embrace technology and science and maybe even the occasional dabble in magic. Steampunk, alchemy, cybernetics. If your skills are based in chemistry, biology, technology, or any other science, you are welcome to join our halls to carry out your learning and experiments.

Werewolf House is assigned to lycanthropes, defined as human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or a wolf-like creature. If you may alter your appearance to mimic some or all animals, you are also welcome to join Werewolf House.

Warrior House is reserved for humans. Maybe you are slightly enhanced and better skilled in some way. You may even incorporate some blessings or talismans you have created to help you, but you are by no means a skilled mage. Any normal or enhanced human may find safe haven here at the Warrior House.

Membership Rules of Bristle Crios

Membership: A member is NOT required to attend events, write in the forum, or roleplay in any current or future Bristle Crios storyline. The only membership requirement is to allow the Moderators to include the character's name, and UserName if it is different, on the Occupants List, possibly including a link to your profile. A player may have multiple characters as Bristle Crios members. Membership is not strict, as you may also belong to any other groups you wish. We will politely ask, though not require, that your profile pictures include credit for the artwork as long as it is not your own, or the name of the person pictured, depending on your style of your portraits and avatars.

In order to ensure that our members are active, each member's "Last Visited" date must be within the last year. This means in order to remain a member of Bristle Crios, you must log in at least once a year. If someone becomes inactive, is removed from the roster, and would like to rejoin, they may do so as many times as they would like, as long as they are active and have a "Last Visited" Date within the passed year when asking to rejoin.

Membership in Role Play: Members may live, work, learn on the Bristle Crios grounds. They are not required to have anything to do with the grounds if they choose not to do so, but the compound will always be open to them. The houses serve as a safe haven for members and guests alike. They also provide classes and lectures that members and guests may find beneficial. A member has free reign over the grounds, but no one may do anything to permanently change an aspect of the houses or grounds, with the exception of the character's room or any other personal space.

A member will help decide which house they desire to belong to, but the Moderators will have the final decision. Ultimately, if you are green and scaly, you will not be allowed to be a member of Warrior House, which is devoted to humans only. The House membership is just a formality. If a family member or loved one is a member of a different house, you may stay with that member as opposed to being forced into staying in separate houses. Guests may also stay with a friend or loved one who is a member of a specific house.

Ending a Membership: If a member would like to end a membership for any reason, the ex-member may move their character's posts where they wish. If the member does not have the posts removed, they may be removed from the Bristle Crios forum at the discretion of the Moderators. If a member is required to leave Bristle Crios involuntarily, the character's name on the Occupants List and posts may be removed at the Bristle Crios forum based on the Moderators" judgment.

Other members may continue to role play and have active storylines with any 'removed members". "Removed members" in good standing may continue to post in the Bristle Crios forum. For example, 'removed members" would not be considered in good standing for continued use of god moding and would not be allowed to post in the forum due to their risk to members and guests posting in the forum.

Reasons for Removal: Warnings will be issued by House Leaders and Moderators for improper conduct. Accidents may happen and will be forgiven, but consistent problems will not be tolerated. Reasons for forcible removal from the Bristle Crios forum may include, but are not limited to: Powergaming or God Moding (automatic hits and controlling another player's character), Failing to give player respect (OOC bullying will not be tolerated), Continued in character use of out of character gained information without the player's consent, Inactivity (Last Visited date over one year old), Refusing to follow the Posting Rules

Interested in becoming a Member" Please contact one of the Bristle Crios Moderators, or read more here.

If you have any questions or concerns about these rules, please PM a Bristle Crios Moderator. We hope to provide a safe place, not only for our character members, but for our player members as well. For more information about 'powergaming' and other RP terms, please see the Dragon's Mark Role-Play Glossary at http://www.dragonsmark.com/rpterms.php

Bristle Crios Forum Posting Rules

Anyone may post in the general Bristle Crios forum. If you are not a member, we wish that your post be related to the Bristle Crios coven or some of our members in some way, with their permission, of course.

Posting Rules: At Bristle Crios, we aim to have high quality work. To discourage short filler posts and to ensure well rounded storylines and full collections of topics, there is a clear rule for posting in the Bristle Crios forum. The initial post and any subsequent replies in a thread must contain at least 2,000 words or be a minimum of 75 lines of text when added together. This requirement must be fulfilled within 30 days of the first post being created. If this requirement is not met, the post and replies may be removed.

There are many contingencies for this rule. It may be one long post, or a small post with many small replies. All replies do not have to be from the same character or player. Forum posts are not limited to storylines only. We fully encourage collection threads. Collections topics may include members" favorite songs, a member wardrobe pictures, a series of unrelated short stories or poems, longer descriptions about various character, etc. If you have any questions about what you plan to post in the Bristle Crios forum, please contact a Bristle Crios Moderator.

Bristle Crios House Posts: Members may include replies to their assigned House thread. House replies should be short topics like short background stories, pictures and descriptions of your room in the house, more detailed character descriptions, etc. Multiple replies about the same topic or storyline should be created in a new thread in the forum. Non-members may not post in the House Posts.

Private Posts: If you would like a Private or Closed Post, you should clearly mention this in the first post of a thread or the thread's title. This post in the forum and all subsequent replies will be dedicated strictly to your character or any number of characters you assign ownership in your post. If you see that someone is posting replies to your Private Post, please let the Moderators know. Please do not post in another character's storyline unless it clearly states that it is open to anyone, or unless you received permission from the original player that created the post.

Censorship: We try to stay within "PG-13" guidelines, but you are more than welcome to include graphic material, as long as it is so labeled. Please include a warning in the post title or include it anywhere within the first post of a thread. We prefer details about the graphic material be included in the first post under MPAA guidelines referring to the following topics: Sex & Nudity, Violence & Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, or Frightening/Intense Scenes. Don't look at it as censorship - look at it as an advertisement! At the beginning of one storyline post might read "Mature Warning: featuring Sex and Violence, not related" while another might read "Content Warning: features Sex and Intense Scenes, totally related". Who wouldn't want to read that"

Copyright: We will politely ask that your posted pictures include credit for the artwork as long as it is not your own. I would imagine we would all want credit for our own work, so we should give credit where it is due. If you have questions about how to include the artist or link, please ask any of the Bristle Crios Moderators. For more information about using Copyrighted material, please see http://www.templetons.com/brad/copyright.html.

The Circle of Bristle Crios

The purpose of the Circle of Bristle Crios is to come together on thoughts and ideas to aid in the development of Bristle Crios by offering support and suggestions to each other to allow us to build off each other. The Circle of Bristle Crios will hold all appointed Advisors as equals, reporting to the Head of Bristle Crios, Miranda Branson. Circle Advisors are responsible for tending to the needs of their own house, as well as the other houses on the grounds. Circle Advisors are encouraged to become the voice of their house, as well as the voice for all members.

Bristle Crios Circle Meetings: Certain times throughout the year, the Circle of Bristle Crios will hold a live meeting. According to the topics to be discussed, these meetings may be in character (IC) or out of character (OOC). While anyone has the right to observe this meetings, participation may be limited. Due to the topics to be discussed, some meetings may be kept private between the Circle and invited guests, some may be limited to Bristle Crios members only, and others may be completely open to the public to make suggestions and offer their thoughts. There is no penalty for not attending a meeting. Meetings are purely optional.

Anyone may submit topics at any time during the year. Submissions should be be sent private message (PM) to one of the moderators. Topics to be discussed may include storylines involving Bristle Crios and the Rhy'din community; major events such as the moon celebrations, academy events, and dueling parties; or any other topic that can be related to Bristle Crios.

All Circle Advisors, and specially invited guests, will be sent a PM of when the meeting will be held and an agenda of topics that plan to be discussed. Circle Advisors who know that they will not be able to be present during a Circle Meeting are encouraged to PM a moderator to let them know, and to offer any suggestions about the topics to be discussed that meeting in said PM. Please note that nothing discussed will be finalized until an announcement has been posted by one of the moderators.

The IC Role of Circle Advisors: There are several roles of the Circle Advisors in character. One role is as an advisor to Miranda Branson. A Circle Advisor should offer suggestions related to the coven as a whole or in individual circumstances. During times of emergency, Circle Advisors are expected to stand up and offer aid to other Bristle Crios members, and hopefully extend this hand to the Rhydin community, when applicable. Circle Advisors are responsible for tending to the needs of their own house, as well as the other houses on the grounds. This can include tasks such as making sure houses have needed supplies and settling personal arguments among members. Advisors are also encouraged to promote the various Bristle Crios events. If you can think of an area of management that you would like to help with, please let one of the moderators know.

Other Bristle Crios members may react in any way towards Circle Advisors. As a general rule, most Bristle Crios NPCs will hold the Circle Advisors in high regard and treat them with the utmost respect. Hopefully, player members will act in the same manner. It is most important to remember that any member can still hold this role, even without the title. In fact, most Advisors were selected due to their high personal standards coming out in their work and play at Bristle Crios.

In order to ensure complete member privacy confidentiality, the Circle Advisors will not have access to any personal records, files, or information of any member, in character. Out of character, if you wish to use information about a character, you must ask that player's permission. Please communicate in order to save any hassle and hurt feelings. Circle Members, as well as Moderators, should be checking their Private Messages, so send them a quick question if you are unsure.
