Happy New Year to all, I have one little problem.

I think management is trying to bury the Union Now issue. It doesn't matter to me either way...so long as I am not having to pay dues.

Spotlight on the Rings of Honor

Last week on the 16th, the Badside Brawlers won the Iron Fist League tournament for the 2013 season. Congratulations to the whole team, especially the MVP Jake Thrash! A special congratulations to Lena Choi, who was voted Rookie of the Year! Read more about the honors at the Dueling Zone News. Choi even won the Talon of Redwin Tournament on January 18th. She's on a roll!

For those of you wanting to check out or join in on the fun, mark your calendar for these upcoming dueling tournaments. Tomorrow, Thursday night, check out the Powerhouse Party beginning at 9pm EST. The Diamond Quest is coming up this Sunday, January 26th starting at 9pm EST. Sign up and join in while you still have the chance! Need more notice" Wednesday, January 29th at 8:30pm EST, Kheldar Drasinia will be hosting the Panther's Claw Tournament! Sign up today!

Also of note" it has been over a month since Jessie earned the Archmage title from the Duel of Magic Archmage Tournament in December and the world has not come to an end " yet anyway. I'm sure she's been working on it, though. She's had a month after all. We should all be keeping an eye out because the time that she will be unleashing her power and fury might be any day now. I just would like to know how it will end....an army of undead zombies or moon rabbits...

Updated Addition: Congratulations to Jake Thrash for winning the Kiowa Belt for the IFL!

January Updates

Let's welcome some new members of Bristle Crios who joined us so far this year. The shadow hunter Anastasia Morgan and the Melnibon"an Nilan Dellacroft are the newest members to Warrior House. Malka Breva is the newest Nocker, I mean member, of Alchemy House. Be sure to give them all a big Bristle Crios welcome and say hey next time you see them!

Also, let's give out some congratulations. Ammy Spiritor recently hit 600 posts! And not too long ago, Kruger hit 500 posts!

By the way, if you haven't voted on the prize for the Bristle Crios Reward System poll, please be sure to vote. This is open to all. Leave your own suggestions for prizes too. You may get a cookie. I heard something about chocolate macadamia nut"

Be sure to check out the open BC storyline, "Paradigm of Creation". The Artificer is hoping to make new artifacts for each of the seven Bristle Crios Houses. This is intending to become a large scale story for Bristle Crios. Contact The Artificer or post a reply to the thread IC so your characters can help build these new installments to Bristle Crios. Those not a part of Bristle Crios are encouraged to be involved as well.

P.S. If anyone wants to be involved with the upcoming Bristle Crios celebration for Snow Moon, please let Miranda Branson or Fiona ONeill know.

Thank you, Lady Fi, for for the honorable mention of my thread; I think enough have responded or PM'd about it that I think there's enough interest to really proceed, so that's great! Anyone else interested in even so much as inquiring are welcome to, though! :D

Also! Didn't someone say something about htiting 3000 posts in the Coven, or was it 5000" Whichever, we just broke 2700....not that that's a milestone, I guess; stop tallying by hundreds except for the 500 marks maybe?

Anyways, thanks for the bump to notoriety and thanks for those who've already shown interest! Its greatly encouraging!

::points hard at Fi's over 200 posts, and starts a countdown on Miranda at 195:: Not that I am keeping track. Mostly I am here to embarrass and shame the whole of B.C. How'm I doin" Should I keep the periods in there" It seems naked if I simply say BC, and worse of course if I drop all the way back to BriCri. ::shudders:: Goddess forgive me.

OH MY I COMPLETELY FORGOT!!!!!!

Welcome Anastasia Morgan, Malka Breva, and Nilan Delacroft. I am so glad you are all here. Yes Fi I did say I....Uhm, because I am.

Cheers Ammy, six hundred posts. That is one long fence line.

Atticus, I'm looking forward to doing some heavy lifting....or something like that.

I hope you are all ashamed of me!

Get a Job, You Deadbeat! :P

Did you know you can get silver crowns by just logging onto the site" No posting necessary!

How do I get a job" You have to log into the RDI site with the character you wish to have a job. Once logged in, go to the Forum page. In the menu at the top of the Forum page, click on Jobs in the second row. You should see a list of available jobs. You may select up to two. In order to change jobs, you must click on your current job in order to quit it. Read the Jobs FAQ to learn more. If you would like to discuss the jobs or make a request, check out the About the Jobs thread. Even if you have a job, check back to see what new options there are. Jobs are limited so the more people log in and switch out their jobs, the more varieties of jobs will be available for everyone! The only way to collect your earnings is to log onto the site so if you are the kind of person who never logs on, you are wasting a job that someone else would like to have.

What kinds of jobs can I get' There are currently over 40 options for jobs, which include: Barmaid, Messenger, Coachman, Housekeeper, Gardener, Ale Tester, Apprentice Apothecary, Bellman, Bottle Boy, Braider, Caretaker, Chambermaid, Falconer, Farm Hand, Miner, Tailor, Performer, Candle Maker, Cartwright, Cartographer, Chimney Sweep, Silversmith, Beggar, Priestess, Gunsmith, Gumshoe, Locksmith, Village Idiot, Bullet Catcher, Ferriers, Forger, Engineer, Inventor, Pilot, Court Jester, Undertaker, Mason, Carpenter, Jeweler, Hatter, Tutor, Schoolteacher, Barber, Midwife, Body Guard, and Chef.

Why are silver crowns important' You can buy all types of fun things for your character's inventory or a pet from the shops. So many fun things are offered at Arcane Lore, Dragon's Breath Forge, Imp's Little Shop Of Horrors, Prof. Gewgaw's Emporium, RhyDin Bestiary, RhyDin General Store, and the Star's End Trading Post. Learn more about the Shops FAQ. In order to browse and buy at the shops, you must be logged in. Check out the Shops and pick up a Voodoo Doll, Jar Of Entrails, Strip Chocolate Game, Green Cheese From The Moon, Tube Of Vanishing Cream, and a Bag of Holding to carry everything in!

Did you know that the Bristle Crios Academy's resident master of zoology and botany moonlights on the stage" It's true!

Eregor has been a member of the Shanachie Theatre Company for a few months now, and has starred in several musical productions there" His latest role is Danny Zuko in Grease, which I should've mentioned a while ago since it's wrapping up Saturday night, 2/15. If you've got characters looking for a nice evening out, why not head over to that thread and post' :)

I'll keep the BC crew up to date on the shows where he's featured. I believe his next one will be Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Marc. ;)

Oh, and he still makes time for his Academy classes. (He's a Time Lord, it's not a problem.)

::Waves: Hello peoples. For those of you that don't have my AIM, I need to announce something;

My new laptop (Yes, the one I bought in September last year, for University) Has packed up. Kaput. Nada. So I' currently regulated to my ...6 year old laptop....Or is it older now..? Point is, internet is sketchy at best, I don't have YIM on this machine any more, only AIM and I don't know how frequently I'll be online in the next few days/weeks. Possibly months while I wait and see what I can do with my other laptop. I intend to get it fixed/replaced pronto as it's the only machine in my possession that is capable of running the programs I need for my course and so one.

Will attempt to keep to keep you posted. Never know, this might get fixed at the end of the week

Wedding Announcement!

The all powerful, self proclaimed Queen of the Undead, and current Archmage of the Duel of Magic, Jesse "Spell" is determined, I mean set, to marry Bile on Saturday. I'm sure I can speak on behalf of Bristle Crios and say' Run while you still can Bile! Read the Marriage Proclamation to learn where you can send your cash. The Duel of Magic Keepers of the Keys should be aware that the all mighty and powerful Jesse demands tribute, more then your petty cash. Read her list of demands in Dearest Keepers. Everyone else should check out her Archmage Notice to see some of her incredible works of art. They feature fun stories of Matt, Rena, and Xanth.

Dueling News

To appeal to those in earlier time zones, the Rings of Honor will now be holding an earlier dueling session! Every Saturday from 3pm to 6pm Eastern Time, there will be a Fight Night shift in the RDI Annex. This will offer opportunities for Duel of Fists, Swords, and Magic. Read Saturday Dueling, Extra Hours for more details. Also, be sure to check out Duel Madness! Cheer for the Falon Falcons, Oakenshield Otters, Ganderfald Goblins, or the Karnafexx Krakens! If you think otters are cute, check out the baby kraken mascot! And yes, I'm aware I totally made up the mascot for the Falons, but I liked the ring of Falon Falcons. Don't forget to place your bets in the Madness Pool!

P.S. I'm not a dueler, but I love the dueling community, so if I ever get any titles or terms wrong, I invite any dueler or anyone at all to correct me. Thanks!

And Ammy, honestly, don't fret about it. We know you're not in the best place in the world right now, but you're doing better than I am wen it comes to posting on the forums, so don't worry yourself into poor health over this. We're be more than willing to sit back and wait for you to be well and happy again before we see more posts from you. I love this! I love this! Check this out!

One of Rhydin's own, Aurast Dagger Sasc, is putting out an album! He even took over Rhydin Rewind to talk about its awesomeness! I missed Harris and Seirichi, but I loved the takeover. Yas is definitely going to be promoting this album on WHAM! 101.1 FM. Be sure to get one while you can!

Salutations, Crios.

I offer my sincerest apologies for a prolonged silence of late. Mundane life reared a very ugly head, but, upon adjusting to a new schedule, I should be back and thus, be able to get back in the swing of things and see if I might contribute a bit of something.

And as always, if I'm in the wrong spot, do feel free to present me to the rear of the donkey and let him kick.

Canon Copyright Concerns There are some wonderful discussions going on right now over on the Dragon's Mark forum. One discussion is about canon characters and setting. The big issue here is copyright. For more information about using copyrighted material, please see 10 Big Myths About Copyright Explained by Brad Templeton. Do a little research, then add your thoughts to the discussion' Of Canon, Copyright and "Where is the Line Drawn?"

PG 13 Site Rating Discussion Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture's single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. Source: MPAA Seems pretty vague, right' How many seconds constitutes "brief" nudity' Is there a type of non realistic violence that doesn't count as extreme" I can use all the explicit words I want as long as they are referencing their official definition' More importantly, what does all this mean for the people having sex in the inn each night' Is there a problem with the lack of defining what is or is not allowed on the RDI site" Is there a problem because the PG 13 rating is not being enforced" Or is there a problem with the whole site rating" Talk about your issues and concerns in the discussion' A Question of Censoring and Fairness

Know the Rules for the Site Check out the Red Dragon Inn's Role-Play Guidelines, which discuss copyrighted materials, the PG 13 rating, and more. For even more information, check out the list of Dragon's Mark Guidelines which features a nice shot of under-boob. ;)

Duel of Guns: First Ever Young Gun!

Move over Magic, Fists, and Swords" There's a new duel in town and it's looking for a little High Noon action!

The Duel of Guns is set in a post apocalyptic, possible future of Rhydin where magic no longer exists. Learn about the DoG Moves like Quickdraw, Shotgun Blast, Grenade Toss, Strafing Shot, Aimed Shot, and more! Read up on the DoG Rules before you jump in. This is a high stakes game where your character may be risking permanent death. Duel of Guns are scheduled to be held on Wednesdays, between 9:30pm and 1:30am EST in Battlefield Park on the ROH site.

For those of you who would like to try something special, try color shifting font using the Gradient and Rainbow Text Generator at http://tektek.org/color/

You can use two colors in a blending option.

You can go back and forth between two colors.

You can even do rainbow colored text.

For those of you who don't have the pleasure of knowing my radio personality, I'm DJ Zazzy Yas. If you're not listening to WHAM! 101.1FM, you should be! Each Tuesday this month, I'll be interviewing a special guest for my Talk Tuesday segment! I already spoke to fashion designer Mai Silverblood, wild wolf Crowe Thorne, and bartender Christine Cain.

This month I'll welcome the train trekkin" minotaur himself, Andu Kirost. There's no stopping this ten foot tall, one ton, ox-of-a-man when it comes to his business prowess. But first, I'll be starting with the delicious model and gorgeous chef, Thorn. She knows all the ways to a man's heart, his eyes and his stomach. Here is a sneak peek of some of the cut material from Thorn's interview. Yasmin: Model. Chef. Teacher. You seem to be able to do it all! Do you have any other talents"

Thorn: A little of this, a little of that, an' not all of it very useful in the day-to-day of things. Like, I speak Squirrel, but with one hell of a lisp, or impediment, "cause I don' have a tail, an' m' ears don' work right for a lotta the nuances. But I c"n get m' point across well "nough. Makes it real hard to hunt squirrels though, kinda like cheatin". An" I wind up feelin" all kindsa guilty for it so 's jus" not worth the squishy feelin's y"know" Oh, how well do I know, Thorn. Having a tail just makes everything harder. I was just talking to Crowe about that last month. Is that what Thorn was talking about' I don't know. Either way, check out the rest of Thorn's interview on Talk Tuesdays: http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php"t=27296

Fans of Nicki Minaj say "Yasss!"

In a few weeks, she will be releasing a new single "Yasss Bish" off her new album, "The Pink Print".

Her inspiration' Me, of course! Ok, maybe not. Here's what she said about her inspiration behind "yasss?" Yasss" Well, you know I guess, like, drag queens started that whole little lingo and when I watch Ru Paul's Drag Race, like, I live for the way they speak, and I think that derives from the way that world speaks. You know, females, we adopted it and it makes us feel like very cocky and very just like sexy and feminine. So saying 'Yasss' as opposed to yes is just putting on like a billion times more attitude than the word yes, and I'm confirming that you're the sh-t. Like, if I see you wearing something, I say "Yasss bish, yasss!" it means - Girl eat this up, eat it up, its your world, take it or leave it. See the interview on Yahoo: https://celebrity.yahoo.com/video/yasss-nicki-minaj-reveals-funny-180847962.html

And to those who are curious, yes, this will became Yas's new catch-phrase. Yasss bish!

One year ago, the Clandestine Order of Seraphim created a community wide activity to honor the memory of characters loved and lost. Rhy"Din Wishing Trees in Bloom and its associated Playable explain the concept. "While they are gone, they are not forgotten."

Last year, Fiona left a name on a yellow ribbon on one of the Wishing Trees, seen here. It eventually made its way to the one it was intended and brought him back to her, which you can read here. One year later, she decided to go back and give thanks for the blessing of the Wishing Trees, seen in my new post here.

That's what Fiona's been up to.

I invite everyone to post here and tell us what your character is doing.

Give us a teaser, and provide a link so we can read more!

What has your character you been up to?

Ammy Spiritor

Date: 2014-05-21 12:55 EST
Ammy's been up to her usual multitasking hijinks, most of which are just Live RP appearances, but she is working on something a bit close to home in the Academy and Rhy'Din City. She's still rooting out a murder mystery in Achieving the Impossible while trying to do an impossible task for the Board of Alchemy at the same time.

DevilishOne

What Shea is up to.

Where to begin. Shea has evolved some in the last few years. She has been one of Rhydin for a long time now. Even though as of late she is not often seen in the forsaken city.

The most current action with Shea involves her deciding to have a Beltane event in Edhel Ndor. (Which is still running as its post only.)

Edhel Ndor Beltane

OOC goodness on The Beltane event is below in link.

OOC Goodness

And Shea is transcending, to become something more than she is. This has been happening over the course of the last year or so. But more so as the days and months go forward. The full account of it can be found.

Here

And there are hints n the Beltane event that something is coming to Edhel Ndor. Something stirs under the fires of Beltane. Its hinted at, but not ever truly mentioned.

What will it be?

Curious minds will have to wait and see.

But That is what Shea has been up to. And a bit of what is coming.

Thorn has been busy teaching her classes, and working on plumping up the repertoire of each individual student. Helping them, on a case-by-case basis, build skill sets that allow them to become more confident in the kitchen, and out of it as well.

Mornings, before dawn, she's out running though various portions of Rhy'din. Each run varies from three to five miles, and is very rarely over flat, even ground. Even when in the city on paved streets she favors the alleys where there are fences to climb, fire escapes to scale, piles of refuse to hurdle, icky things to out run.

Occasionally she throws a hand in at the Slippery Slope, a mud wrestling establishment now solely owned by a friend (Cianan) for a bunch of exhibition matches that usually wind up as no-holds-barred affairs.

She's been occasionally modeling for Mai here and there. Has agreed to pose for Leroy J. Reindeer's calendar. Models for Kitty's Liquid Heat line of unfa-unfa juice, and sometimes for Play Elf, just because.

And she's been helping her friends when, and as they need it. Plus cuddling, cuddling is awesome, and damn straight helpful.

ALSO! Rose Moon was mentioned in Shy's Journal! She mostly just went on about what an awesome DJ I am. No one else was mentioned or anything, no one important anyway, no really, just me. She used the word "fantastisk". I'm going to assume that means I'm extra fantastic since it has extra letters in it. Yas sent an autograph to her mailbox. She spelled her name right and everything! It's a booze festival, with vendors of booze, booze related merchandise, and other crafty, foody, yaddita things you'd find at such an event.

It's one night only.

Here's what I need!

For the folks who have brewers, distillers, shiners, runners, vintners, and want to have a totally NPCed booth, make up a list of offerings for the night, and when I get the setting up, post there.

Vendors of not booze, the same thing! Set up a "booth" in a post, and add it to the thread. I want have the setting thread up about ten days before hand so people will have more than ample opportunity to familiarize themselves with the offerings and settings.

Reply here, or in PMs, or both, if you'd like to participate.

Thank you all in advance!

From the desk of Miranda Branson.

It is with a heavy heart, much thought and pure intentions that for a cycle or until such a time as there is a need, the moon events of Bristle Crios; Blood, Snow and Rose; will no long occur. Bristle Crios is part of the Rhy'din community and as such there are many events, charity works and volunteer groups that are always happy for a helping hand. You guys, each and every one of you who helped promote the Fest, played in the Room, set up booths, had scantily clad women throwing booze around, are freaking awesome!

Thank you so very much for everything!

I'm only sorry that I couldn't play for longer than fifteen minutes last night! RL occurred in a couple of ways (not healthy male child at work , and a bar-be-cue to help raise MIL spirits).

Icons for players and vendors have been ordered.

Thank you all so very much!

Thorn, You are so Awesome, the event was wonderful.

Many Cudos to everyone taking part as vendors, There were far too many people for Andu to spend half as much time as he would have liked with even a quarter of the ones he would have wanted to. And just reading all the antics going on brought chuckles and grins.

Starting this month, two years since the opening of the school, The Academy of Bristle Crios will be looking for a new Head Master or Mistress. The current Head Mistress, Lydia Tolmay, will be stepping down due to personal conflicts. All students, instructors, and staff may be made aware when they return for the new Fall Term through formal letters, word of mouth, etc. Be encouraged to spread your own rumors as to why Ms. Tolmay is stepping down. Maybe she couldn't handle the pace; she always was a bit of a night owl. There have been rumors circulating about that, too. ;) Although, others have said that they've seen her acting less than professionally, hanging out in some of the less reputable areas of town, making business deals with all types of shady people. That couldn't be the kind, compassionate teacher most have grown to love. Certainly she must have an evil twin" but that's another rumor in itself. If anyone would like to take a greater role in the Academy, such as the new Head Master or Mistress, please feel free to contact myself or one of the Bristle Crios Moderators. Someone should be in charge of the school. It may just be you. Keep in mind, whoever wants the spot is going to have to put in a lot of work IC and OOC. I've heard Lydia can be a bit of a taskmaster. ...Maybe that was task mistress. If there are no takers, the position will probably be filled by an NPC Head Master. I heard that the guy they have in mind is nice, but others have been saying he's got a dark side and has evil intentions for the school. ;) Rest assured, I will be maintaining Lydia's position as an instructor after the transitioning process and the school will continue to go on IC and OOC. If you have any questions or concerns about anything regarding this change, just ask. For those interested in becoming a student, instructor, or staff member, please fill out an application at http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php"t=23638

Thanks to Miranda's player for sending this my way.

What Element Are You?

As it turns out, according to the magical top of my lap and that certain site where these things are tested, I am...

Your element is WATER.

There is a lot of depth to you, probably much more than you let on. You prefer peace and little conflict but have no issue standing your ground when you are wronged. You have deep emotional currents, some you can't even explain, many might be intuitive. You must remember that despite your strong empathy, you cannot judge people so quickly. You also need to learn that it is okay to say no. Your avoidance of problems leaves you in more trouble then when you deal with them. That aside you are seen to be full of love and wonderful energy. You can help people relax and bring them back to a healthy state from a toxic one.

I started it, you guys finish it!

About "Indivisible"

The Live Chat play for this began November last year. Ten months and 97 posts later, the thread is complete. It all began with the premise of Kaius being teleported to another world in the past. Kristoph then sought aid to go to this place and bring his brother back to Rhydin. This story goes along with Ano in Absentia. For those who would like a rough idea of what they are reading in each chapter, check out these chapter summaries and teasers below. Hope you enjoy.

Part I: Two as One - Two Imperial Knights of the First Sword ask a favor of the Herald of the Grand Council of The Empire, Fiona O"Neill. She agrees to help them find the injured man they describe as potentially dangerous so that he may be taken to a place to help him recover of mind and body.

Part II: Deus ex" - Fiona is assigned to assess a location in Greyhaven Falls rumored to be infected with religious beliefs against The Empire. She runs into Lord Kristoph Arknight, Officer of the First Sword, who watches over his people as they are leaving their sermon.

Part III: Pavilion of Hammers - During a Grand Council meeting, the Head of the Empire, Damon Logos, calls upon Fiona to hear her assessment of the location in question. She gives her report and is faced with a private confrontation with Azira Dy"Hauc, the main advisor to Logos.

Part IV: Precognition - The two Imperial Knights approach Fiona to find out if she had found out any information regarding the man for which they were searching. She provides them with information about where he was being held and opens a gateway to allow them safer passage to find the man.

Part V: Riding to Rose Court - Fiona begins her trek to deliver a message to Lord Arknight on behalf of The Empire. She and her riding companion are intercepted by three men escorting an odd companion of their own to Rose Court. One did not come with the truest of intentions.

Part VI: Last Supper - Fiona arrives at Rose Court and is invited into the festivities taking place that evening. She meets many other members of the First Sword, though it ends up being the guest of honor who inevitably steals her heart and takes her breath away.

Part VII: Knight of Mourning - A dark and stormy night beginning with a debate in a sitting room leads to the inevitable conclusion of the story. The end features three epilogues, one from Kristoph's perspective, one from Fiona's point of view, and one as an overall conclusion.

Congratulations to Knightfall on his new folder Reigns of Alluvius!

A few threads have been moved to the Reigns of Alluvius forum, so if you see anything missing from the Bristle Crios forum, be sure to check there. If anyone would ever like any of their threads moved from the Bristle Crios forum, feel free to ask one of the Bristle Crios moderators and we will be happy to move your threads to wherever you prefer. Same policy goes for the new Reigns of Alluvius forum.

On a more personal IC note, Fiona will be maintaining her position helping care for the Bristle Crios compound and aiding its members as long as she is needed. This is merely an OOC change, not an IC one. My posts for Fiona will just be focused there from now on. I will still continue to post in Bristle Crios on occasion and in the BC OOC thread, since this is definitely the most popular OOC thread on the site, in my completely biased opinion. ;)

Knightfall would probably kick me out if I didn't add" All are completely welcome to post in the new forum to expand on, and play with, the history and settings related to Alluvius. More about that will be posted soon. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas on how to work with the Alluvius story, please contact one of the Reigns of Alluvius forum moderators. For all other comments and congratulations, feel welcome to post to the Reigns of Alluvius OOC Chat thread. Thanks!

Questions ask everything from your favorite RPing moments to your biggest RP inspirations, how far you've come as a player, and what other improvements you would like to make for next year. Bristle Crios 2014: A Year in Review

In 2014, Bristle Crios began the year by opening its official Welcome Center. The converted house was once the home of the Bristle Crios founder, Morgan Doyle, who bravely fought to defend his home and family. The Welcome Center was opened around the one year anniversary of Morgan's funeral. The Center functions as the information hub for those coming to Bristle Crios to learn more about the coven and its grounds. It also provides temporary lodging for guests. If they decide to stay long term, they are assisted in selecting one of the seven Houses that best fits their needs. The Welcome Center also serves to host events and meetings on behalf of the coven or its members, privately and publicly. Reserve the area today!

The end of February was certainly eventful. On February 21st, Bristle Crios held its third annual Snow Moon. It featured Andu's coffee to warm everyone up. On February 22nd, Thorn's Dream Chasing Foundation, in conjunction with Andu's Rhy'din Transit System, presented the Grand Opening of the Curious Bits, Baubles, Jots, and Tiddles carts, kiosks, and store fronts. On February 27th, the latest designs from Mai Silverblood were on display for the 2014 RhyDin Fashion Week, with Thorn as one of the models.

June was a popular month, too. On June 20th, Bristle Crios held its third annual Rose Moon, which concluded its three Moon Celebrations over the course of three years. Rose Moon featured Thorns's summer spread with everything from salads and starters to grilled meats and grilled fruits for dessert. June also wrapped up Yasmin's Talk Tuesday interviews for WHAM! 101.1 FM. The interviews featured Mai Silverblood, Crowe Thorne, Christine Cain, Thorn, Andu Kirost, Arthour Chazore, Ammy Spiritor, Charles Blackstone, K"Rhenne a"Noctis, Hera Fyre, and Kruger Allen.

The last half of the year saw just as much activity. The July issue of "RhyDin People" featured an exclusive of "Lesinda's dieting secret". August 15th was Thorn's Booze Fest featuring vendors of alcohol, alcohol related merchandise, and other fun items. On September 18th, The Shanachie Theater added a few Bristle Crios members to its Roll Call for the 2014-2015 season. Brendryck Stormgaard and Yasmin were added to the Theater Company, while Kruger was added to the Repertory Company. Their acting projects are ongoing and we're looking forward to more next year.

The Academy of Bristle Crios had an eventful year too. At the beginning of the year, Kruger continued his Katana Forging class. In February, Lydia Tolmay began The Power of Persuasion lecture. In March, Thorn started a cooking course and added two extra credit courses, Culinary Arts Extra Credit and Culinary Arts Extra Credit Plan B. Throughout the year, Arthour Chazore continued his The Art of Fire Magic class while Ammy Spiritor continued her Traditional Alchemy course, both of which started in the Fall of 2012 when the Academy opened. Ammy's Glimpse of the Alchemist also shows a "glimpse" into her teachings. Just in time for Halloween, Lydia Tolmay offered a Cooking with Leftover Halloween Candy class. The Academy ended the year on a high note by gaining two new instructors in December. Dante Keltar is teaching Pirate 101, while Noah Bird of Noah's Wooden Wonders is teaching Wood Carving.

As a last minute Christmas gift, Ammy Spiritor gave birth to three healthy children; Jake, Mabel, and Ruby.

Did I forget to mention what your Bristle Crios character did this year" Just let me know. Want to see your name up here too' Join Bristle Crios and start posting! You may just see your name featured next year. Want to know our past accomplishments" Read more about what happened in Bristle Crios in 2012 and 2013.

Will Harris' crew overcome Kruger's once again, or can your Anvil manage to stop The King of The Ring"

Don't forget the Power House tournament on January 22nd. The top 16 fighters come together to fight for the coveted Kiowa belt, and determine who is the IFL's apex predator! Last year's winner Jake will be giving up the belt, which of this year's fighters has the stamina to outlast, outfight and outdo themselves to take home the top spot"

Hi guys. I started up an open sl for staff and students of the academy. The Alchemy class had an oops moment and Ammy is doing her best to keep her students and the rest of the academy safe from a Daemon Kraken! Feel free to join into the SL.

Some info on the Daemon Kraken: It is a demon variant of a real Kraken, The main body which is 200 feet long is wedged inside of the main Alchemy Lecture room, It has at least 30 tentacles up to 400 feet long, Tentacles are scaled and secret an acid slime (expect decent acid damage to objects not bespelled to resist damage and first to second degree burns on exposed flesh. So far, as noted, the creature is fire resistant though wind seems to have some measure of affect at cutting the tentacles.

Some details on the location: Fourth Floor of the Mage Wing of the Academy. The besieged lecture room is on the inside of the hall, no windows in the room. This puts the room on the left side of the hall. It is situated in the middle of the Mage Wing.

The hall they are in has windows on the right side of hall facing out on school grounds. There are drapes on the window with every other window covered by a closed drape, the rest are uncovered, the windows are closed shut for warmth.

The students are up against a presumed fire door that has rolled down when things went south locking off the central section of that floor from the library and the admin building.

Floor is carpet with tiling I am guessing and I have added a map as well now, a rough map that is of what I think is the layout. Class rooms are in the central aisle of the hall with walk ways on either side with windows. This would mean one side of the hall is not protected by Ammy.

To answer a question from Kruger mun and to inform anyone else interested in the SL. I am more than happy to have staff or students post in the same SL thread I started. Though I could see too that if other staff would like to treat Oops as a general day of magical or mundane mishaps around the academy that day, then separate SL's can work too. I hope the map I attached to my previous OCC post helps with the Kraken issue.

*If you all want to to separate SL's it'd bee neat to see which ones are related to the Oops day. I would say add Oops to the SL Title for easier spotting.

To spare this OCC thread from constant posting by me about the Oops SL, I have made an OCC thread for that SL in the Alchemists Fire. Please head their for the behind scenes info and feel free to ask questions and make suggestions to the SL or even post your own Oops SL related to the madness that has happened.

Whenever I read about Ammy's Daemon Kraken in the Oops SL, is it weird that I keep picturing the 2014 Duel Madness Karnafexx Kraken in its place? :)

Would be rather hilarious if the alchemy class ends up with a kraken for a class pet by the end of the SL. That would be too funny! We have to make that happen! Who is with me"

Also, I smell a new school mascot " Just kidding. :P

Now is the perfect time for people to continue to jump in!

All of the Academy is on alert. All of Bristle Crios is on alert. For heaven's sakes, anyone in sight of Mage Hall to the east of the campus can see the kraken wrapped around the third and fourth floors. And so much is going on! You got people on the front line fighting off the kraken, people helping to evacuate Mage Hall, people protecting and making a fun distraction for the daycare kids " You don't have to be battling the beast to be making an impact.

Don't know how to jump in" Catch up with my notes in Ammy's OOC thread for the Oops SL to catch up. I welcome others to help contribute to the OOC notes to help us get through this chaos and crisis. This is becoming a huge thing, so jump in while the getting's good! Don't have a BC Academy staff member, but want to get in on the kraken action' No need to fear. Maybe your character was taking a tour of the Academy that day to see if they would like to teach there, make a donation, or sign up for a class for themselves or their child. If so, what a memorable first impression!

No one seems to be aware in character yet " but there are countless krakens making their way throughout the Academy! We need all the help we can get!

S O S " SAVE OUR SCHOOL!

Just to keep everyone up to date with new information and recent reminders on the site...

For Your Information: Site Info

Update Your Email Address You can now update all of your accounts to any email account you want. Make it easy to get all of your Private Messages sent to one email account by logging into each of your screen names and updating your email account in each Profile. You may be missing out on a lot of opportunities, just because you've been missing your PMs. Good luck to those of you who have so many characters, you can't remember their log in information.

Delete Your Own Posts You can now delete your own posts. If you do have old posts that were mis-posts and double posts, please be sure to use this opportunity to go back in and delete them now so we can clean up the site. Please keep in mind, before you hit delete, posts may simply be edited to change their content into something you prefer. Consider 'recycling" an old post before you simply throw it away.

Prevent Profanity There is a profanity filter in Live Chat and on the forums. If you must write profanity, just write it out and let the profanity filter catch it. "Do not attempt to circumvent the language filter by using variations or slight misspellings of profanities." This means to use generalized symbols like **** or &#$@ instead of getting creative. This is still a PG13 site and even some adults just do not like to be subjected to profanity. Please be respectful.

No More No Contacts You are no longer able to ignore someone with the "No Contact' option. There are several other options to use. "You can ignore a player you do not want to talk to. If you do not want to use ignore, you can always color the player the same color as the background." Read more of the article to learn how to do this. If you or someone else is being harassed, you can send an email with logs to the Administrators. Keep in mind, Admins can only protect you on the Dragon Marks sites, so only give out your personal information to trustworthy people. Be safe.

RDI Comic Con" WHAT!"! Check out the link to read more about the real life gathering of RDI and ROH that the administrators are hoping to hold this year at Bryant Park in New York! They are currently undecided about the date, but are discussing some time in May. Log in to Dragon's Mark and post your thoughts and suggestions. I vote for a full comic con experience. I want to go just so I can cos play as Jewell. I just have to keep track of her hair color "til then. :P

Blast from the Past: Rhy'Din Maps

I recently found this out and wanted to share. There is a treasure trove of old Rhydin maps featured on the site.

The Map of Old Rhy'Din City includes places such as the Rhydin Archives, Rhydin Beach, Rhydin Cliffs, and even the Nexus itself. The Map of TDL World features the TDL Arena and Hell's Port, as well as several other places. There is also a map of all of Old Rhydin.

The New Rhy'Din map, and the larger version of the New Rhy'Din map, shows the beginning stages of the Rhy'din we know and love.

The Rhy'din map is the current version of our city. There are also up-close versions of the districts, including: Overlord Isle, Seaside, Battlefield Park, New Haven, Old Market, Dragon's Gate, Dockside, and Old Temple/Southgate. Additionally, there is a map of the Rhy'Din Graveyard in Old Temple.

One map even features Catrione's Plague in Dockside from 2009. Read about the plague in the related Playable. There were two story threads related to the plague, Strange disease cases in Dockside and Coming Curse. There was even a Post Article.

Duel for Dockside

On Friday, April 3rd, Jesse won her challenge for the Dockside Barony in the name of Bristle Crios.

Read the details about her Challenge to Dockside over on the Rings of Honor site.

I wonder what citizens of Dockside have in store for them. A genocide of elves" A retaliatory attack of moon rabbits" Good luck!

Congratulations to Spell and her new squire, "Nana the Lil Slugger?" also known as NC!

(Copy from the Oops HQ in case it is easier to read here.)

Okay everyone. Gather around and listen up to the coach. You may have noticed Ammy's last post about searching for why this all happened and then a new thread appeared, Oops - Through the Looking glass. I want you all to take Ammy's last post as an example to branch off of the Oops Thread and make new Oops threads showing how your characters are either investigating or helping to rebuild the academy.

Many posts have been made to show that much is going on behind the scenes of this disaster. Also, given the feel and content of many of the recent posts, the day (time in the SL) is now over, meaning the Kraken event happened, it was beaten and now we have aftermath and rebuilding. This said, it's time to close the Oops Thread soon and let the branched, new Oops threads flourish.

So, I'd like all of you to do one last post if you wish to show what your character is going to do from this point on and if you are brave, start a new Oops thread continuing from your last post. Just look at Ammy's last post and you'll see how she summarized her actions for that day and then linked to a new thread showing what she's started doing after that dreaded day.

Happy hunting or rebuilding folks. After Friday I will be most likely out of communications some for posting for possibly two weeks as things are loaded and we drive to Oklahoma. I'll let you all know when I am finally settled and able to participate in things again.

This year, your nomination is your vote, similar to a "write-in" vote.

Please send all nominations via PM to Jewell Ravenlock by Wednesday, April 29th. Instead of nominations AND voting, we're just going to do nominations. One round of nominations, no voting. The person with the most nominations gets to be the May Queen. ONLY ONE NOMINATION PER PLAYER. Read the Playable for more details, and get your nominations in now! :)

Just to help wrap up the setting concerns for the Academy after the kraken devastation, I made one final post to Oops to describe the "planned" rebuilding schedule. I thought it was best to summarize this directly in the thread. If something should change these events, then I'll address the updated schedule after that calamity. :P

As of today, May 1st, the Mage Gardens have been cleared of debris and have begun the replanting process. Water systems have been restored to Administration, Physical Principles, and Science buildings, and they are now fully functional. The Combat Annex has remained functional. Mage Hall remains completely closed for repairs, as it suffered the greatest damage during the attack.

The first two floors of Mage Hall will stay closed for repairs until June, just in time for the summer session. Until Mage Hall is opened, classes previously held there will be diverted to other areas of the Academy, with any over flow sent to available common areas of the seven Bristle Crios Houses. While in the Houses, the instructor of the class is responsible for monitoring his or her students to maintain order and privacy for those that reside there.

The top two levels of Mage Hall will remain closed until the Grand Re-Opening of Mage Hall on the first of September 2015, three years to the day of the opening of the Academy of Bristle Crios. At that time, and if all goes as hoped, all rebuilding be complete. There will be small festivities on that day to celebrate both achievements.

Everyone is free to include any of this information during their play.

On a more personal note, thank you to Ammy for initiating this wonderful story and thank you to everyone who contributed, because without everyone's support, the story wouldn't have made it as big as it did. :)

Forgive me. I have to get on my soap box for a minute"

Would you enjoy it if I copied your forum posts and then reposted it without giving you any credit"

What about if I changed one or two words or changed your character's name to fit mine in order to "make it my own" and, again, never gave you any credit for your work" I would think a lot of people would be upset by that, and that would be understandable. I would be upset, too.

Do you realize that is the same thing that many people are doing when they do not give credit to the source of their profile pictures"

Giving credit to the image source is even a part of building a profile. There is a line to include the "art/photo credit' right in the portrait and avatar control panels when a person logs in to create a profile. So many people simply write in their source as "Google" or something similar. Would it be ok if I copied your stuff and gave credit to the "internet?" I doubt that would be ok to you, and I doubt it would be ok to others.

"But I found the picture on Pinterest and wouldn't know how to find the original..." If you found a picture on Pinterest, click on the picture. It should take you to that image's page. Directly under the image, it will say "Found on' with a website link. Simply copy and paste the website onto your profile.

"But I found the image a long time ago and would never be able to find it now..." There is a cool feature to find images at Google Images. See the little camera icon to the right in the search bar" If you hover over it, it should say "Search by image". Clicking on it will bring down a drop down window where you can "Paste image URL" or "Upload an image". Go ahead and put in the image and click enter. You should hopefully be able to find a website that can eventually take you to the image. Obviously its not a guarantee, but it's a start.

I know some people live according to the golden rule, which implies that one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself. Many people would say, "well, I don't care if anyone uses my stuff online, so I'm going to just use everyone else's stuff as I want". That was always my problem with the golden rule. Just because something isn't important to you, doesn't mean it's not important to someone else. The fact is, we are all artists here. Some work in words, others work with their hands in pastels and paints, others work with digital media, others in photography. But we should all be respectful to each other's craft.

"Too Long, Didn't Read?"

Please. Be respectful to other artists like yourself and give credit to your image sources on your profile.

If you need help finding the website or artist, ask someone. Post it and ask the community for help. PM a friend for help. PM me. I can't promise to find it, but I'd be happy to try.

For those who already give credit where credit is due, help a friend who doesn't have their credit listed.

Join the discussion here.

So I know this is a month early, but I was very excited to celebrate...

THREE YEARS!

I have sent out icons for the three year anniversary of the Academy of Bristle Crios. It is an apple with the initials of the school. Yes, the ABC. Those of you who have helped contribute to the school as an instructor, staff member, or student should find an icon in your inventory. It's because of you that the Academy was so successful when it started almost three years ago, and it is because of you that it is still thriving. Thank you! If I missed anyone, be sure to let me know.

I want to use this opportunity to bring into the spotlight several staff members who have made a big impact on the Academy, and just a small portion of those who have earned an icon. The following wonderful instructors have contributed course syllabus or even written out classes for the Academy: Ammy Spiritor, Arthour Chazore-Silverblood, Charles Blackstone, Christine Cain 'Bard of Cain', Dante Keltar, Eregor, Jesse 'Spell', Kruger, Mai Silverblood, Marshall Devlin, Noah Bird, Ripper 'Unseen Killer', Roman 'The Traveler', Sheridan Driscol 'BardGallant', Thorn 'The Redneck', Tyler, Vas Drel, and Weiss Faulke. Thank you!

Waves halloo like a ghost from the past. Much apologies for being dead in the water with any new posts. Very happy to hear about booze fest again. Hopefully if I sacrifice enough innocent bystanders I can maybe make a brief appearance. *fingers and toes crossed*

I've been working two jobs here in Oklahoma to try and stay somewhat afloat with bills and the like. Not too happy about it but it is what it is in life. On the plus side one of my jobs has me back in a field of work I've sorely missed. I am back working as a Vet Tech. *Happy wiggles* The other job is retail merchandising. *not amused look*

I am slowly working on writing up a post to kick off a new SL showing Ammy still alive and lurking about the Academy. It's slow in coming. Her usual public activity drop is best explained by saying that her and Fleet have had a bit of a break up in their marriage, so the alchemist has been tending to their relationship and family at the moment trying to pull it all together.

Just thought I'd give you all a nice little update! Hope your cauldrons bubble merrily and your potions do not ignite!

Hi Folks!

Sorry I haven't been around much as Mai, but, I will endeavour to get her out and about, I have a new job.....which works four twelve hour shifts, both days and nights, it sucks but is needed to get money

Well done guys!!! I hope I can say congratulations on the new job. It sounds rough, but I'm happy that you have something to bring in some cash. Besides, BC will be here. Although, maybe not if we have more hits close to home like this....

http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php"p=211684#211684 Oh, I know I am very interested. This sounds pretty cool to me. Of course, I don't live at BC, so my perspective is going to be a little different than the characters who do. :P I hope the rest of you are following the case. I bet it's only going to get more interesting. I imagine BC security is going to be pretty tight for awhile. Anyone around wanting to jump on board to figure out the mystery"

Allow me to preface by saying, this will be a blend of IC and OOC...

Over last three years, in 2012, 2013, and 2014, I completed little reviews to showcase what Bristle Crios and its members had done that year. This year, I would like to do something a little different.

In the late fall / early winter three years ago, Morgan Doyle, founder of Bristle Crios, died while triumphantly helping to save the coven and his love, Miranda Branson. The story can be read in "Queen of the Coven". His funeral was held that January. He and Miranda's home was converted to the Welcome Center, while Miranda began work on her and Angel's home in "Building a New Dream?. With the competition of the thread, now that dream is reality.

I am so proud to see Miranda, and her home, grow.

Over the years, the members that joined Bristle Crios came seeking safe haven. Whether they wanted to find a purpose for their lives, reinvent their image, find a few friends, build a family, or any other way Bristle Crios has helped our members grow, I am so happy to see how many of our members have successfully grown and moved on to their own homes, businesses, families, and even folders. Because of our small community's love and support, I have been able to move on as well.

Bristle Crios will always be that safe haven, that place welcome to any in need of a home. But it is my hope for the coming year, that the folder will be able to showcase more of its leader's stories and be able to continue under her leadership. With the completion of her house, I welcome Miranda home.

Love you, my friend.

And Happy New Year to everyone! May your year be filled with happiness and love.

Greetings & salutations everyone,

Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who's come out for the A&M Theory class; I've had the chance to talk privately - even if briefly - with each of you to get a little feedback regarding both the IC and OOC views on it, and I have to say on both counts I'm quite glad I decided to go through with it.

Magic is one of those things I enjoy and am interested in no matter the setting (usually fantasy) it presents itself in, in large part because whether it's in a game or a story, it offers a blend of both the structure of rules (every instance I can think of has some sort of magic 'system', even if the users aren't aware of it or how it works), and the spontaneity of free form creation / anything can happen situations (sometimes this presents in story form as Deus ex Machina - but who isn't interested in that just a little bit sometimes?).

I might as well add, there's also a benefit directly to me in writing Atticus for this class; it forces me, to force him, to either identify or empathize with the students which, though it might not seem like it at the moment, makes me feel much more comfortable adding depth to his humanity (as I said, might not seem like it...).

Back to our thread - I think everyone who signed up has posted something, so I'm going to close out the first 'session' of class as it were and get ready to post the next; I won't be as stringent necessarily in the future, to make sure everyone has said something in every session (I'm not trying to be a slave driver, I more wanted to make sure everyone got the chance in the first session in particular so they could at least see what they were getting themselves into). I plan on doing one 'close out' post for the current class, then I'll post the next session. I should note, I will be away from the 6th to the (I believe) 14th, so please if we're in the middle of a class, don't wait for me to necessarily respond to each student; I promise to answer the questions of anyone that asks after I return, no matter how daunting the task may appear given some of your facility with writing (compliment completely intended).

To anyone reading, I hope you're enjoying - I hope to make it a little less dry as we go, given the students he has to work with, I'm sure it won't be hard. Just remember, if you're at all interested there's always room for more (deliberately ignoring what worst case scenarios might arise from me saying that), so if you're interested in having a character take part, just send me a PM first (the only time I won't answer is the period I already stated that I'd be away, in which case PM Blood Sister, I'll leave details with her of any limitations or....just miscellaneous errata that would need to be addressed). If it's something you're interested in as a player, but can't figure out a good reason to have a character there - run it by me anyway. Unless you have a real good reason they can't be there, giving them a reason to be there will be pretty easy.

Thanks again everyone, upwards and onwards as they say! (Not sure who, but pretty sure someone says that).

Sincerely, K aka Atticus D'Arcstorm

To the A&M Theory Class:

Alright, apologies, but I'd be remiss if I didn't add this after reading Ammy's Sabbatical thread...

The point of all the 'OR's in the homework was to give you some variety and let you choose -one- of those options, I just wanted to point out you didn't need to do all three! lol :) To anyone who wants to see a good interpretation of all the choices I provided though, I very much recommend viewing her thread!

~ ~ ~

@Ammy-mun, really good job breaking down the class, and it gives me some good insight for some directions to go in once we get to a part of class that more specifically deals with sources of magic, like gods, or what have you (Fleet). Should be very interesting to see her response to that.

And while I'm on the subject of threads that touch A&M Theory...

@Fliss-mun, started reading your Academic thread, I -think- as you were posting it (which was a complete coincidence...) Firstly: sigh of relief that I didn't make -two- people do all those examples. Second: The interactions with mom killed me lol it makes me desperately want to see her do well in class, if only to create the chance of there being a 'But Mom! I'm an Archmage!' line.

@Everyone else - If I've missed something someone has done, I very much apologize; I try to read as much as I can, as often as I can, while balancing it with writing. If I've left something or someone out, please bring it to my attention - because I do actively look, both for myself and for Atticus' interest in his students.

And, especially because it's a night where Coincidental magic is more common, Vulgar more accepted, and Consensus more forgiving: Happy Halloween everyone!

All the best, K

((Originally posted over on Reigns of Alluvius out of confusion with my brain.))

I've been sitting a lot on my hands with Ammy teaching things since, well, a lot has fallen apart in my life in the real world. Much has been put into reassembly. That said, I am enjoying having her be a student but my long time rp mate mentioned that it may be time she just bites the bullet and teaches a class again. She threw an idea at me and I want to in turn, bounce it here and see if it is something that has merit.

She suggested, that Ammy, being a deity of sorts, attempt to teach a fun, open minded class that aims to discuss and explore varied deities and gods in how they are structured, how their powers may function or work, etc. As well as to show how quite a few deity 'types' can be just as normal and fallible as any mortal. A basic 101 sort of Deitology to see how various realms could consider something divine but not be focused on any religious view points of the deities themselves. What would you all think"

Or should I just keep Ammy to the more perceived routes of alchemy and other less theological pursuits"

Or should I just keep Ammy to the more perceived routes of alchemy and other less theological pursuits" I am biased and am going to say that I love the idea of anyone doing any type of class, but I do think this would be a neat idea. :) I don't see why you have to stick to alchemy only. I think everybody has many interests and you can explore them with Ammy, as well as the other class participants. Besides, your content sounds like it could be interesting to just about everyone. Heck, if people are sitting through Atticus's class, it just goes to show you that you can have the most boring class and still....I mean....Loving the class, Atticus mun. :P

And in regards to deities, I have to say that I prefer how the Klingons view their gods....

https://www.youtube.com/watch"v=m0yVUaL9CWs

"I prefer Klingon beliefs" Our gods are dead. Ancient Klingon warriors slew them a millennia ago. They were more trouble than they were worth."

Ammy Spiritor

Date: 2016-11-29 21:19 EST
Hehe. Yes, the Klingons had a good line on it, and that line of dialogue is just one of many reasons I want to explore with people in a class the concepts of what makes gods, gods. What separates them from mortals" Is there any real separation' Are gods just as problematic and fallible as mortals" Etc. etc as the study looks at the aspects and ways gods/deities/immortals whatever labels attached function, draw power or could behave. I am shying around doing much focus on religions outside of mentioning perhaps names of some if applicable but not going in depth as that is a very different class subject. That and subjects like that I am rather skittish on touching much at all with how thing can get easily taken out of context.

And I hope it wouldn't be something considered boring. I'd try to make it fun and entertaining. I'm just beginning to wonder if Ammy being a student in classes is becoming a problem and perhaps keeping others from participating much.

The Redneck

Date: 2016-11-29 23:28 EST
You could, if you were feeling slightly more ambitious than even this suggests (which is very by the way), 'interview' local deities and ask them some of these questions directly.

Ammy Spiritor

Date: 2016-11-30 00:28 EST
That is another good idea Thorn, but would local deities be willing to discuss or talk to Ammy about their nature" The general impressions I've gotten over the years from Rhy'Din is an overall negative and frowned upon viewpoint on anything resembling deity/god being showing any public light of their natures. I do not mind attempting to try and contact anyone who has deity/god characters if they wish to participate in answering questions from Ammy to collect some facts to see how their structure, powers, needs, etc. happen.

Am I maybe asking to do something too large with this kind of class"

The Redneck

Date: 2016-11-30 01:36 EST
I don't think you're overreaching at all honestly.

In the end, anything that stirs the juices and brings the urge to write back is a good thing. Or that's how I see it.

In regards to player character deities/powers, I know one who'd be willing to sit down and chat with Ammy about it, or fill out whatever questionnaire is handed to her. There's a few PC Powers whose natures might make them more likely to reach out either in an effort to be better understood, to gain more followers, or to make damn sure no one is foolish enough to try messing with them.

Okay, the last one is probably a stretch, but I'm sure there's some out there/around here.

Speaking as a player of a Power, I know my character will answer questions put to her. Well, so long as they're asked of her by someone she likes and has a reason to answer. ;-)

Tempus Fugit

Date: 2016-11-30 13:11 EST
@ Thorn: You had me at, 'stirs the juices'....mmm....I mean...

@ Ammy: I mean, yeah, again - great idea. And count me in for doubling down to support Thorns concept of interviewing them - if some local blue skinned celebrity doesn't beat you to it, of course. She's known for that.

I also support the use of the term 'Power' in lieu of Deity; not sure exactly how to phrase it, and Atticus next posts are being worked on now but not near the part where he'll address it - but there's something about the notion of deities that....the term seems to make more sense from a followers point of view, if that sounds reasonable? Like, there are qualitative differences in the idea of Powers, I think, one rank of which would be Deity - which has probably parallel or corollary positions which do not involve worship, if any of that makes sense. Anyway, can't wait to do more with it in an actual thread.

Anyway, running back to work! Oh - and I hope, Ammy, you didn't think it was rude of me to direct the class thing here (I was quite flattered to have you ask in RoA), I just thought that potential interested parties might miss out if you didn't (like Thorn, perhaps :) ).

Regards, Kris

Ammy Spiritor

I didn't think it rude at all Tempus to redirect the question to here. I just often am not sure where to ask questions or who to contact about idea. Once this idea for a subject was brought up to my by my rp mate, here is the take that I have on what deities/gods represent in my collective mind that I would love to share. They are a two sided coin.

One side is the massive amounts of mythos, lore, history, deeds, etcetera that those who have no real working knowledge or have never been in the shoes of a deity/god see. The other side is the reality that quite likely any deity/god among mortals is bound to the same issues mortals has because they are using an avatar like body, maybe, to dwell among the mortals and that body can quite likely be constrained to the same issues as mortals. Not to mention, awakened, ascended, made deities/gods that were not ones to begin with. Mortals that were elevated. I look at it all as a neat diagram of puzzles and strata to look at especially when you include many deities/gods that are not part of cults, religions or worship. Ones that just exist regardless if they get worshiped or not. It is this variety of uniqueness that can happen among these 'all powerful' that can literally put to light to many that all gods/deities are not created equal.

Hey everyone,

Just a couple notes on continuity....

Atticus's ongoing class, A&M 1000, is still going forward - at least for the duration of the field trip/the current lecture. The current lecture is happening, time wise, between the actual events of the protest, and it becoming common knowledge that something happened on the campus.

As for the next class after the fact, we'll see what happens when it's time for that 'lecture' to start, as it were. Speaking both icly and oocly, I hope to at least have the violent aspect, or obvious danger, gone sooner rather than later so that, so that students can return to class.

Amping up the protest situation so quickly to violence maybe have been my own little 'oops', I was comparing it in my mind to the Harry Potter world, mostly, and only too late really considered when people got killed they did talk about closing the school, so I should have expected the more visceral reaction. Not to say that the conflict isn't going to stay a bit, but the intensity might be dialed down, or shifted from campus. Mea culpa.

All the best, K

Friends, Writers, Forum-folk,

So, tempus fugit and all that, eh' In the process of making my return from yet another savage, metaphorical, beating. I finally find myself with the time to work on things and play again after not posting for a couple of months " several things have been in the editors docket but haven't had the time to finish them.

Expect to see a return to, and near conclusion of, Fringe Sojourn in the next few weeks, along with a finishing out of the Bloodlines FAQ. The latter is a case of knowing what I want to write, but not necessarily knowing how to say it; after looking away for a bit, it's come back " somewhat " into focus.

Obviously, for those of you reading or playing along at Bristle Crios in the A&M Theory thread, something is coming down the pipe for that as well " hopefully by this weekend. I apologize for the time it's taken me to get back to it " my inability to move it forward is one of my current great annoyances. I'll make it up to you " somehow. :)

Finally, for any of you who keep reading or re-reading Rising Son, I have to ask: what is it, the fact that you can't figure out who the son is" The reason for the continually rising view count has been a subject of some amusing discussion between myself and the co-author, and I'm here to tell you: we kind of forgot to state it explicitly, so you'll have to wait for the follow up ? also in the works.

As always, Best regards, K

Oh my goodness! It's Teacher Appreciation Week!

https://www.pta.org/home/events/PTA-Teacher-Appreciation-Week

Show your thanks and gratitude by treating teachers like a V.I.T. – VERY IMPORTANT TEACHER.

As a personal side note, I had always dreamed of becoming a teacher one day. This character was my outlet for that dream. Now that I am gratefully living out my dream in real life, I do not necessarily have as much time for this character as I would like, but I would not give up one minute as a teacher. Even on my hardest days, which has been quite a few lately, I am still so happy to be teaching. Thank you to all of my teachers who inspired me and to all of my other fellow teachers out there.

PS: Next week is National Nurses Week. Thank a teacher this week and thank a nurse next week!
