Just out the back door and hidden under a newly planted bush, CAM cautiously made her way to the bunker door. She had lost count of how many times the bushes had been replaced let alone the doors. There were still burn marks on the ground.
"Well at least I am made of metal."
Her voice had a slight echo from the speaker box needing to be fixed. Refocusing her eyes and adjusting her joints, the door was yanked open and down she went. The deep rumble of metal meeting metal bouncing off the heavy walls.
Jack was at it again. Even though the doctor's had said otherwise. Sling thrown over her work bench the half fae was crouched on the floor yanking new wires through her later project. Wings flicking to match the racing thoughts running around in her head.
"Should I go through the plans again? What voltage did I use" Crap! Was it a standard or metric bolt that ran through as the pin on the mount."
Growling, Jack turned to find CAM staring her down.
"Ack!!!!"
The wrench in hand soon was flying. CAM of course gracefully dodging as it clanged on the cement floor.
"Good evening, Jack. You have a letter from Miss Branson and you need to make an adjustment to me. The last explosion jostled my voice."
Clutching at her heart, Jack took a moment leaning over to catch her breath. Well there went all the ideas. Right up and out the stairs of the bunker.
"Fine just sit on the bench and I will take a look, CAM."
Waving a hand in general directions. Tearing open the letter, Jack's glowing eyes scanned over the elegant writing so different from her own.
"So this, Kruger is looking for a teacher hun" What makes Miranda think I have the time?"
The flat head pulled out from the top drawer of her tool chest.
"Open."
Tapping CAM's chin, she obeyed. Jack soon had the screw driver down the android's throat. Twisting this way and that trying to listen for certain sounds.
"Okay, fine. I am suppose to be on medical rest. No heavy lifting and such, but I really do need to..."
The look in CAM's eyes said it all.
"There are days I wished I hadn't made you so well. Fine. I will respond....and put the sling back on....and eat. Fine! I swear!"
Tossing the screw driver back into the chest, Jack went to work. Grabbing one of the data pads out of a discarded stack her fingers dashing a crossed the digital keys.
"I will make sure to send one of your messengers, Jack."
CAM's voice was clear and ringing true again. Rubbing her flawlessly smooth throat, the alarm went off in her mind to have the kitchen start dinner. Kruger's residence was a forge was it not' Might be better to send one of the more heat resistant messengers.
"Thank you, CAM. I will be up in a few minutes. With the sling.?
Smirking, Jack started to clean the bunker. The message should speak for itself.
CAM nodded and headed back up the stairs. The data pad held with ease between her fingers. Once back in alchemy house the one foot metal messenger made of tempered steel that looked like an imp would be sent to Kruger. When he would tap the screen it would scan is finger to prove it was him. The screen lighting up with Jack's greasy hand print and then her message.
Greetings Kruger. Please don't tell me you are as low tech as Miranda. She barely knows how to work a cell phone. I will teach you whatever it is you want to know, that said I will not hold back or slow down. You have to get it through your head that tech changes all the time and faster than anyone thinks. For good or bad. You either handle it or bury your head in the sand. Some things can't be replaced. Like drafting in my opinion is much better by hand then any computer system and so much easier to edit. Anyway, I can explain more later if you agree to me being your teacher. Stop by the bunker whenever you want. Just tell the messenger. Oh and if you want a crash course tap the screen in and again. It will cycle through the basics.
Catch you later! Jack
