"Admiral's lo..." Hunter stopped mid sentence, and considered his words carefully. He had been in that position for a long time he fell so easily back into those long established habits. "Admiral's personal log, supplemental. This evening was in a word sublime..."

He looked forward to these moments. These moments in time where the daily bustle stopped for a half an hour, or perhaps an hour. He had been surprised this night, not that Jack had ever failed to surpise Hunter. Tonight though she had surprised him on purpose.

The lights had been rigged outside of the bunker, in a time that it was normally dark she brought light. He was bringing the night's dinner as he did everynight. It wasn't that he was predictable, that was simply a side affect to being disciplined in his methods. A soldier is never truly predictable. The hearts of men can bring the nastiest of surprises as well. This was no battle field full of enemies. He didn't need to read the contours of the land and decide what points in a defense were weakest. There was no need to tell young men and women to go and face death simply to remove a fortification that was impeding him from advancing further. No. These were the moments he looked forward to the most.

Time with her was a gift, a trip on the carousel that produces the brass ring. He rode that carved horse in its endless circle always reaching. She was the holder, stationary in her lab, she held his brass ring and there was not one night that he failed to be the one to take it.

It was true that he had to convince the kitchens to cook him something, and indirectly her as well. They were never really thrilled with the prospect of adding to their work, especially considering that each night it was hours after the rest of the house took dinner. Hunter would simply fix them with that icy stare of his and something would be provided. Eventually he knew they would begin to expect him. They would plan on his visit at a precise time. When that happened the meals would get better, it would just take some time, that was something he had plenty of now.

Jack was always stunning to him, but moreso lately. It had been so since the night they were collapsed together in garden.

"And that was when she..." A noise caught his attention, it was in the hallway and he would need to address whatever it had become. "Save and close log."
