In the shadows of the trees under the full moon light, and concealed in a black hooded cape, Leta watched the last guests of the event.
She could not help but feel their festivities were somewhat? trite; the way they celebrated the moon' and the magical fae.
Leta knew real power; that was why she was recruited to The Company. She had her own techniques for finding power, but everyone had a role. Some would retrieve power sources; others would analyze them, trying to find ways to manipulate them. Others would harness their power in order to advance The Company's greater goals. At least, that was how her division worked. She loved her job, and she was good at it, but she loved power more. She could feel that power this evening, left behind among the many gifts to their beloved fairies. Those would be the focus of her "extra curricular" activities tonight. What she collected here, she would keep and try to tap into herself. Whatever she wouldn't be able to use or activate, she would then give to The Company to earn their favor.
Leta hated how these events seemed to drag on, and never end on time. Why couldn't people just get out, and leave her to her "gifts?" As some began a dart game, she sighed, aggravated. At least she enjoyed the people attempting to dance. She gave an amused smirk when someone snuck into the DJ booth after hours and began to play their own version of music for the remaining crowd. She gained a little bit of hope as each stray left. But it wasn't the ones leaving who then caught her eye. She watched as a man faded in. It wasn't noteworthy by itself; people faded in and out of the event all night with magical gateways and high tech beams. But his arrival was different; he wasn't supposed to be here.
This changed everything, everything she had been working towards.
Leta had come for a different reason tonight, but this would definitely be the most interesting development. She toyed with the thought of telling The Company of his return. If she did, she may have to tell them about her other secret side project. She couldn't do that, not now, not after this. She lingered back, watching him. She confirmed to herself that it was him, recognizing his mannerisms, though it didn't take long for him to leave. She then had to wait what seemed like forever until the last guests followed suit.
Silently, Leta approached the different places where the fairies gifts were placed in sacrifice. She carefully looked through each one; various drinks, baked goods, eloquent poems, a vial of an unknown substance, a magic spell or two. She selected what she wanted, anything she could sense with magical potential, and intended to make her way back to Vampire House before anyone saw her, slinking back into the shadows of the full Rose Moon.
