A knock at the door at 4:30 a.m. brought Captain James Black out of his sleep. "Captain?" came the gruff muffled voice through the door. "Captain, it's time." Captain Black stretched and sat up. "Make sure all the men are up, Governor. I'll be right with you."

"Aye, I'll get them up if I 'ave t' shoot 'em in th' arse!" James smiled and looked down at Wyh, laying all cuddled up in their bed. He bent down and kissed her cheek. Her eyes fluttered open as she felt his lips on her cheek, and she smiled up at him. "Did I hear it is time to sail, dearest?"

He didn't want to get out of bed. He wanted to just stay with Wyh, but there was adventure and fortune to be had, so he kissed her again, this time on the lips. "Ye sure did, my darlin'. Time t' rise and get this ship in deep water." She kissed him softly, smiling as she moved to sit up. "I am so very excited to be sailing with you. I can think of no better place to be."

He stood there naked and reached out for her to help her out of their bed. "Th' voyage begins, love. It could be dangerous, even deadly. You sure you want to do this?" She took his hand in hers, and rose naked from their bed - determination sparking in her silver eyes. "I am sure I wish to do this. I could not bear to see you leave, and the thought of adventure thrills me."

He grinned, a mouth of perfect white teeth hidden by the shadows of early morning. "You're my kind of woman, Wyh. I'm a lucky man." He turned up the light in the lanterns and began to dress. She smiled as she also dressed - slipping into her black breeches, tucking her blouse into them, then sitting carefully to draw on her boots - which still gave her a bit of trouble. She managed, though - and pulled her royal blue jacket on, smoothing the front of it carefully. "I am still surprised how comfortable these are."

He looked at her and beamed, "Wyh, you are so sexy in that, I could attack you this instant if we weren't setting sail in a half hour!" He took her hand and they went onto the main deck. He was dressed completely in black, and put on a black tri-corner, leather hat; braided hair with multicolored beads hung down the sides of his head. Dark eyes looked over his crew as he began to shout orders and get things under control.

She managed to snag her own hat, settling it on her head as he took her out onto the deck, her icy hair a stark contrast to the black of the hat. Her free hand fingered the braid James managed to work in her hair the night before, the blue and silver beads he had thread along its length catching the dim light. She watched him in his element, loving him even more than before.

The men of the Sea Wolf were the most unusual crew to ever sail the seas, but they knew how to make a ship perform to perfection. There were men up the three masts, in the rigging, on the decks, and on the dock - all doing their jobs. Captain Black walked around the deck, pointing here or there, giving orders, answering questions, and showing just why he's the captain of the ship. It was not long before the ropes were loosed from the docks and the ship began to slowly pull away. Wyheree quietly walked with him, listening to the orders, learning exactly what her Captain does - and how his crew responded to him. As the ship left the dock, a smile brightened her face as she studied the crew as they worked.

The running jib and jib sails were unfurled and captured the light morning breeze. It wasn't much, but it was enough to bring the Sea Wolf safely away from the dock. Captain Black took Wyh's hand and brought her to the wheel and stood behind her. "Here's how we steer this Lady." His strong arms went around Wyh and grasped the wheel, and the Sea Wolf slowly made its way out into the bay, heading for the ocean.

She gently ran her fingers over the wheel, feeling it turn as her Captain steered his ship. Grateful for his closeness, as she understood that out here on the decks, he is Captain Black, and she does not want to hinder him in any way. "How long will we be at sea this time, Captain?"

"Well, love, about two weeks if all goes well. Months if it does not go well. Forever if it goes really badly, but I really don't expect that to happen." The further out from the harbor the more the wind picked up. He gave orders for the top mizzen sail and top main sail to be dropped. One by one the Sea Wolf exposed more sheet to the wind and soon she was making good speed through the waves of the ocean, just at the time the sun was rising in the east.

"Is there anything I might do to help you and your crew while we are at sea?" Memories of long ago stirred in Wyh's mind, and she easily kept her balance as the Sea Wolf gathered speed, one hand still lightly on the wheel. He leaned in to her and brought his lips near her ear, the breeze blew her hair against his face. "You'll be th' cartographer of course " and I've heard ye "ave a knack for soothing th' injured. How's about being our physician?"

She smiled, shivering a little as he breathed in her ear. "I would like that, very much." She then fell silent, secure and happy as Captain Black continued to steer the Sea Wolf around her.

All through the morning the Sea Wolf cut its way south through relatively calm ocean waters. Captain Black kept the coast several miles off starboard, following the coastline down. By noon the sun was beating down on them and James was beginning to get hungry and thirsty. He looked down at Wyh and smiled. "How are you doing, my love?"

"I am well, dearest - though the sun is fierce at sea. I had forgotten how hot it can be."

"Why don't we stop for a while and have some lunch in the shade on the quaterdeck?"

She gave her Captain a grateful smile. "That is the finest idea I have heard all morning!"

James got a crew member to take over the wheel and he took Wyh's hand and led her up the stairs to the quaterdeck where some food and ale was laid out by Frypan for the crew. "There we go, darlin'! You're first meal on the sea!"

She looked over the food, and took up a small plate - more thirsty than hungry. "Shall I draw the ale for you, Captain?" As he filled a plate with bread, cheese, some dried beef and an apple, he looked over at her, "Thank you, love. I'll get our food, you get the drinks."

Nodding, she handed her plate to James, then took two mugs, and drew the ale carefully, filling both mugs, and she took them over to James with a smile. He filled both plates and moved over to where some rope was coiled in the shade of the sails. "Let's sit here, lass. This is about as comfortable as we'll get here topside."

She made her way over to the coiled rope, and sat carefully so as not to spill the ale - relieved to be in the shade, and very happy to be with her love. He took a mug from her hand and gave her a plate. "I love it out here, Wyh...I love the sea. It's my second favorite lady."

She nibbled at her bread and cheese, then took a long sip of her ale to quench her thirst. "The sea is marvelous - I am surprised you stayed in RhyDin's harbor for so long." She then gave him a little grin: "And the Sea Wolf is your favorite lady, then?"

He grinned, "She used to be. No longer, I'm afraid. She's been replaced."

"She has" You have another ship, and did not tell me?" Her eyes sparkled and danced as she teased him. He leaned over and faced her, "Ah yes...she's beautiful...such perfect sexy lines, the way she moves excites me..." His lips move even closer. She could not resist him, and she brushed his lips with hers, light and soft - mindful of the mug and plate in her lap.

He kissed her lips, "You are that lady, Wyh. You are first in my heart...above everything and everyone." Her eyes misted with silvery tears, "I never thought I would hear anyone say such words to me. You have opened my heart when I thought it impossible, and I love you with all that is within me."

His hand moved to her cheek, "Aye, an' I love you, lass. More than e'en my miserable life. You are everythin' t' me." She nuzzled her cool cheek against his hand, "Whatever happens on this adventure - I wish to always be by your side, facing the challenges with you."

He smiled and spoke softly, "You are far more than I deserve, Wyh. I do love you."

"And I love you, dearest." She reached for her mug, and took another sip. "I will admit - I am a touch nervous about the Dockside Inn, though."

He took a bite of a beef stick and leaned back, his left arm going around Wyh. "The Dockside is a dangerous place alright. We just watch each other's back and it will be fine. Don't you worry, love."

She finished her bread and cheese, shyly leaning her head against his shoulder. "It is only because I will stand out there that I worry - I fear the Dockside Inn has not seen many Mages."

"That might be true. Most of those with magic are killed off at the Dockside. The pirates have no liking for those with the gift of magic."

"Then I will be extra cautious - I promise not to freeze the pirates to their seats."

He laughed hard, "Wyh, you are too much. No wonder I so love you." He paused and went on, "Seriously, if you keep to yourself, keep your eyes open, sit with your back to a wall if possible, and go in a group, all should be okay. They really aren't a bad group. They're just drunk and have no morals and no qualms about killing."

She nodded in understanding, "I can do that." She leaned and brushed his cheek with a little kiss. "Thank you, dearest - I am less nervous now." His lips brushed hers, and his voice was ever so soft, "Besides, I'll be there. As will Mr. Blade, Rat, Whisky Jack, SnakeSkin and all the others. We have a reputation." He winked.

She gave his lower lip a little nip with her teeth, a grin on her face. "I can only imagine." Her lunch and ale finished now, she could tell the afternoon was upon them, and she made a little pout. "Perhaps we should head back" It's grows late."

He nodded, "You're right, love." He stood up and helped Wyh to her feet. "I think I need to teach you how to navigate and climb a mast." She smiled as she kept his hand in hers, even after she was standing. "I learn very quickly - do you have time to show me now?"

He laughed, "You are so eager! I love that about you. This evening, when it's cooler, I'll teach you how to climb masts. And tonight when the stars are out, I show you some navigation." He smiled a pirate smile and headed back to take the wheel. Wyheree blew her love a kiss, then settled back in the shade, pulling parchment and a quill from her pocket, and sketched the coastline as they sailed.
