A shadow appears upon the front porch of Toby St Germain and his lovely family. A gloved hand knocks on the door. Teleperien and Gwindor await the answer, she once more examines the invitation card in her hand and Gwindor awkwardly holds a package for the family.

The card is a thick creamy white with gold embossed letters;

?The family of Toby St. Germain is cordially invited to a dinner and ball at the castle in celebration of the freeing the forest of its evil and the return of Lady Murelle GreyMantle.

Excited voices behind the door assure Tele that someone is at home.

The cacophony that arose from the knock on the door was.. tremendous. This was not Teleperien's first visit to the cabin, though, so she would at least be prepared for it this time. Gwindor... perhaps not so much.

Besides the barking of the two adult dogs, Duke and Duchess, the yapping of the puppies could also be heard as they were stirred up. And the competing voices of the three children, each wanting to be the one to answer the door first. In particular could be heard the thumps and complaints as the older two, Maurin and Reinette, pushed and elbowed each other to get there first.

And then there was the Sound of Mom, swiftly restoring order between her wayward offspring... and the complaints of the seven-month old baby in her arms, who just wanted to go back to sleep where he'd been comfy.

Finally there was Toby, who actually opened the door (with little big-eyed Selene peering around from behind his legs) with a decidedly bemused look on his face. Behind him could be seen the faces of Maurin and Reinette (looking utterly guileless even as Tabitha glowered at them), and the dogs coming round either side to have a nose at the visitors.

Toby cleared his throat with an apologetic grin. "Welcome to the madhouse... would you perhaps like to come around to the back where you won't get mobbed by the entire zoo?" Because if the tall Lady of the Noldor and the stalwart Gwindor were to come through that door, they might fairly drown in a sea of overeager kids and dogs.

You know. Just a normal night at the St. Germain place.

One glance at Gwindor makes Teleperien?s mind up immediately.

?Out back would will suit just fine, I don?t wish to put you out.? She meant it; it would be quite a challenge to keep the clan under control. Used to the quiet of the castle, this was complete pandemonium and a trial for the captain of her guard.

?Lead the way.? Teleperien says with a smile.

Teleperien was amused at the little faces as they tried to keep their eye on the visitors as Toby gently but firmly closes the door. He leads his visitors around to the back porch, actually is enclosed into a room of its own with a cot, a picnic-style table, a cooler, and some chairs. As they are lead Tele could hear the piping of birds and the scurrying of small paws on leaves deep in the green forest that surrounds the cabin. She smelled the pines and the scent of clean soil; she took a deep breath and exhaled as they step onto the porch.

?This is lovely.? Tele says still looking at the forest. ?My soul feels at rest here.?

Toby smiles at her then makes sure the cabin door was closed, then bade them to sit.

?Can I get you something to drink?? Toby asks.

Gwindor shakes his head. Tele replies; ?No thank you, we're fine. We've come to extend an invitation.?

With that, she hands Toby an envelope. Toby reaches into his pocket and finding his glasses, slips them on. Then slitting the top of the envelope with a fingernail, he withdrew the paper within and began to read
It reveals a sheet of parchment with the gold seal of the Tree of Eldicor (a gold tree with one star at the top) written in the flowing script:

"The queen of Eldicor requests you and your family attend a ball given for the celebration of the cleansing of what was the "Dark Forest? To be held Nov 22 at 8pm.?

?I hope you all will attend!? Tele exclaims eagerly. Toby smiles.

?They're going to be so wound up.? He pauses then goes on, ?I?ll have to have a little talk with them about their behavior there.? He gives a low chuckle then continues. ?We'd love to... what sort of attire do you wear to a ball??

This was not a facetious question, coming from him. Toby had never been to a fancy party in his life.

?Well, your best attire, it matters not how fair it is.? Tele replies. ?The important thing is that you and your family will be attending!?

He gives another chuckle. ?Well, I have a feeling there will be a family shopping trip in the outing. But absolutely, we'll be there.?

Tele gives a big smile. ?Wonderful!?

?What's the best way to get there? The last time, you remember, I improvised and caused a few near-heart-attacks.?

He asks wryly. Gwindor, who remained standing in back of the queen?s chair, shifts a little as if he was remembering that day. Tele glances up at him.

?I'd like to, ah, avoid that sort of thing again.? He grins.

?You may travel in that method; my guard will be awaiting you.? She gives: another glance at Gwindor who gives a slight nod. ?Otherwise it's a three day ride over the mountains to Eldicor.?

There is a pause as he thinks for a time then snaps his fingers. About that for a time, then snapped his fingers.

?The first time I came to visit, to the first the first discussions about the actual mission to the Forest I came with Xenograg, through a mirror at his Dojo.?

?You may use that method as well if you choose; either way you or your family will be made welcome. I am glad you will be there.?

?Me, miss a big party?? Toby grins ?Wouldn't think of it. How're things since that all happened??

?Busy, getting the realm in order, we have been with the tree elves of the forest, they may come, or at least their elder will be there.? Tele replies. ?It has been awhile, I heard you have a new addition to your family!?

?We sure have. Would you like to make his acquaintance?? Toby smiles as he replies.

?I would love to.? She grins in turn.

Toby rises from the chair, and carefully slips into the cabin's main room. A few minutes later, he reappears with a little wrapped bundle in his arms.

?I'd like you both to meet Keith Donald St. Germain... all ten and a half months of him.? As he carries the little one over to the queen.

Tele holds open her arms to receive Keith. Very cautiously, Keith was transfers the child to her arms. The baby stirs and burbles a little, peering up at her with startlingly blue eyes - his father's. She smiles down at the baby, her long hand resting on his hand. There was something faintly familiar about the baby; she sensed an echo of what was within him. Her hand glows softly.

?The girls take turns cooing over him. He was born on Maurin's 6th birthday, so she informed us that he was her birthday present.? Toby says solemnly. Tele chuckles softly.
?I sense something about this child, he reminds of someone.? A curious a look at Toby...

?I've been ...well, for lack of a better term, listening? to him a lot. Every one of the girls has something about them, something gifted. I'm dead sure he'll be the same... just not quite sure what it is yet.?

?As I have been told! Each holds a special gift. I look forward to seeing them.? Tele says earnestly.

?If you're feeling adventurous, I can bring them out. Without the dogs, you understand.?

?I would like that.? Her warmth spilled out at the pleasure of meeting his family.
He grins and once again slips into the cabin. There is much nosing at the door and lots of yipping. Tele turns toward the door listening, the door opens as Toby ushers out the children.

Not unlike the Von Trapp children, then, three little figures march into the back porch room, standing in a row. The tallest was a dark haired 6-1/2 year old, her hair much like Tabitha's, and her bearing very upright, very confident. Next to her is a delicate, willowy blonde 5-year old, who looked uncannily like a little princess. She just seemed to radiate charm, and there was almost a faint warm glow about her. And lastly, a little red-haired sprite of a girl with big soulful eyes. She seems quite shy, almost hiding behind her bigger sisters.

?Hello, I'm Teleperien, what are your names?? She grins at Toby who is standing to the side, watching.

It wasn't hard to tell, even now, that Maurin took her role as the 'big sister' seriously. Tele solemnly nods her white blonde hair toward her. ?Maurin.?

The delicate little blonde steps forward next. ?My name is Reinette. And you're most beautiful. She adds solemnly, even doing a little curtsey. Or something like one, she'd clearly seen someone do in a movie.
Ray-nette. "Little Queen"... how appropriate for such a little princess as she seemed to be. But not in a bad sense. Tele gives a soft but cheerful chuckle.

?Thank you Reinette.?

Little Selene, almost four years old, wanders up and tugs lightly on the Queen's skirt. Tele looks down with a smile. In a very soft voice she asks; ?I'm Selene. Are you a real princess??

?Hello Selene, I am a queen.? In such a way as if she were telling her the weather. All three little faces held the same expression ?Oooooooooh?? Tele continues. ?You all will be coming to my castle for a fancy party.?

Their faces light up the porch, then all at once the three voices just overlap each other in a cacophony of questions. Even shy little Selene.

"Can we wear princess dresses?" "Are there going to be princesses there too?" "Can I bring my puppy with me?" To which Toby immediately replies. ?No dogs, girls. This is a ball, not a zoo.?

Tele laughs merrily ?You can wear princess dresses, my daughter the princess will be there as well as Lady GreyMantle's daughter, Gwyn will be there all dresses like princesses. As well as one named Amanda.?

?Yaaaaay!? They are now gabbling excitedly now, though Reinette was peering up with a most curious expression at the Queen. It almost seemed like Reinette saw her in a different way than her sisters or her father did. Almost like she saw 'more'.

She returns Reinette's gaze with a smile. Reinette had a dazzling smile of her own. You could tell that she had a natural gift for charming people - Toby had considered it almost eerie.

Tele then stands, her six foot figure towering over the girls. She rests her free hand on Reinette's head.

?I have to return, but I still haven't met your wife.?

The three beam up at her. Each of them seemed to echo a different sensation to her - Maurin was like a live wire, energetic, forceful, aggressive (in a good sense), Reinette, very curious indeed, with that faint golden sheen about her that was not seen by normal folks... and Selene was quite unique too. She seems to almost have a dreamlike serenity about her.

Tabitha chose that moment to slip out into the back as well. She has a beautiful mane of untamed dark hair, and equally dark eyes - she too has a gentle serenity about her, so at odds with her husband's manic intensity. But perhaps, then, that's why they fit so well.

?Tabitha, your Majesty? Toby says gesturing with his hand. Tabitha bows her head respectfully.

?It's a great pleasure to have you in our home.?

The girls, now, were staring very curiously at Gwindor. Noticing the stare, she gestures to the elf. ?This is Gwindor, Captain of the Guard.?

Teleperien's timing was deft; because it was almost certain that the next question she was going to hear out loud was "Is that the King?"

?Tabitha, thank you for receiving us. He?s a beautiful child, lovely blue eyes.? With that unmistakable maternal pride as she took Keith in her arms, at her words she glowed. However, being very conscious of protocol, despite being from modern Earth. It was just in her very nature, perhaps.

?Can I offer you both anything at all??

?I thank you, no, we must return, we came to deliver the invitation.? Tele says softly as she walks over to Tabitha and transfers Keith to her arms. ?I owe Toby much for his help in the battle of the Dark Forest; I thought I should bring this myself.?

It wasn't often that you saw Toby lost for words or abashed; but this was one of those times.?I'm really honored...? In a tone Tele knew he meant it. The girls are still fascinated by both Teleperien and Gwindor. They were so unlike the (for lack of a better term) usual people they'd met - there were people who could claim titles, but this was a real Queen. And they knew it.

?It would be an honor for me to host your family; you will stay the night if you wish at the castle after the ball.?

All three girls rounded on Toby."Can we Daddy? Mama? Can we pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?

Toby manages to keep a straight face as he says to Teleperien. ?I think we'd be very pleased to stay over.? However Tele could see the twinkle in his eye.

Tele gives a soft laugh. ?Arraignments will be made for you and your family. Once again Selene gently tugs on the Queen?s gown, she looks down at Selene. ?Yes?

Peering up with those big eyes. ?Will Uncle Zeenograg be there too?? The way she said that, you would think that nothing in the world was more important to her.

?Yes, he will be there, with Amaltea and Amanda.?

Selene beamed, and you'd think the universe would light up in empathy.

Tabitha rocked Keith gently, who burbled to himself - quite unconcerned with all the talk of balls and dresses and queens and such. He was warm and happy, and that's all he needed.

Maurin whispers at Selene. ?You?re not supposed to tug on a queen's dress, it's not proper!?

Tele moves to leave. ?I look forward to seeing you all there. I am looking forward to our time.?

Toby stepped forward and says quietly. ?Thank you. It means a lot that you came here yourself.?
Tele smiles and lays her long hand on his. ?It is my honor to do so.?

As if a thought comes suddenly he asks; ?Should we bring anything?

?Just yourselves, and if you plan to stay the night, a change of clothes.? She laughs, her laugh like silver bells tinkling in the wind.

Looking at the three bouncing little figures, Toby chuckles. ?Might be two changes, knowing these three.? Then Toby did something he NEVER did. He gave her a bow, a real one, a respectful one. It was hard to understate just how rare that was, how much it really meant. Tele nods in solemn return.

?I bid you farewell until then.?
The girls all peer up at their father, and then try to emulate him with various degrees of success. Tabitha just giggled quietly and managed quite a nice bent-knees curtsy of her own.

The girls then waved and chorused "Goodbye Miss Queen Teleperien!" - Selene had a little trouble with the name, though. "An' Mister Gwindooor!"

She turns steps off the deck. ?Gwindor... the stone please.?

A red gem is dropped and a portal to the castle is opened, looking back Tele could see that ?Oooooh? expression again. With a happy wave, she disappears into the portal, closely followed by Gwindor, the portal closes.

Back in Eldicor, Tele laughs merrily. ?Lovely family.?
