Betting worked for awhile... but since DoF was still so new, and didn't have the hosting help needed, keeping track of bets was difficult at best. Then there was the fact that there wasn't really anything that could be earned by winning. We tried to get AOL merchandise and such, but nothing ever came of it.

Spectators may place wagers on the outcome of DoF Fights. Odds are given to each fighter based their experience, and this helps determine the odds of one player against another.

***** ODDS RANKING *****
Odds rankings are compiled based on a fighters win/loss/tie record using the following formula: WINS-(LOSSES/2)+(TIES/2) The resulting number is always rounded DOWN to the nearest whole number. A fighters odds rank may not fall below 1.
EXAMPLES:
Fighter1, with a record of 7:2:0 would have an odds rank of 6
Fighter2, with a record of 9:5:2 would have an odds rank of 7
Fighter3, with a record of 3:7:0 would have an odds rank of 1

***** THE BANK *****
The Bank uses the Galactic's Official Legal Dollar, or GOLD, for it's currency. The use of $1 signifies 1 GOLD. The Bank sets up a line of credit for each new bettor, and all players may borrow up to $10 for each fight.

There is no credit limit on a bettors account, but if their debt to The Bank becomes too great, they may be summoned to perform menial labor in the Red Dragon Inn to help pay off their account.

***** BETTING *****
For each fight, there are three different bets to choose from. You may bet on Fighter1 to beat Fighter2, Fighter2 to beat Fighter1, or for Fighter1 and Fighter2 to tie.

You place your bet by sending an EMail to the "bookie" for the fights. The subject line of the EMail is what will indicate your bet. (this will help speed things up for the bookie) Use one of the following formats when sending your EMail:

SUBJ: $100 Fighter1 over Fighter2
or SUBJ: $100 Fighter2 over Fighter1
or SUBJ: $100 Fighter1 ties Fighter2

Once an upcoming fight is announced by the calling RDI, bettors may EMail their bets to the bookie. The bookie will announce the odds each fight once their are announced. For example:

RDI Panthr: Coming up! Fighter1 vs Fighter2.
Bookie: Odds on Fighter1 vs Fighter2 are 6:7

Once the fighters are told by the RDI to begin fighting, no more bets will be taken. There will usually be at least a few minutes of betting time allowed before any fight will begin.

The maximum bet one may make on any fight is $100, or 10% of ones bank account, whichever is the lesser amount. Those with account balances of $100 or less will be able to use the credit extension from The Bank in order to bet up to $10 per fight. The exception to the betting maximum is for special fights and tournaments. A betting limit will be decided for these events on a case by case basis.

Fighters may not bet on the fights they are taking place in. Bettors may make only one bet per fight.

***** PAYOFFS *****
Payoffs are determined by the odds rank of the two fighters involved. Using the examples in the ODDS RANKING section, a bettor wishes to place a bet of $30 on Fighter1 over Fighter2. The odds of Fighter1 beating Fighter2 are 6:7 If Fighter1 wins, the bettor wins $7 for every $6 they bet, or $35 dollars will be credited to their account. The original bet of $30 remains in their account. If the bet had been on Fighter2 over Fighter1, the odds would be 7:6, and if Fighter2 wins, the bettor would have $25 credited to their account. Any fractional amounts are always rounded down. If the bettor places a bet of a tie between Fighter1 and Fighter2, the two fighters odds are added together to determine the pay off. So if Fighter1 and Fighter2 tied, the payoff would be 1:13, or $390

***** BANK ACCOUNTS *****
A list of each person who has an account with The Bank, and their account balance will be posted each week. This balance will be considered a persons balance untill each weeks fights are over and the new balances are posted.
