Hello. I have decided to write this book in hope of unearthing the history of dragons but first I will talk a little about myself. My name is Max Twilightwyrm or you might better know me under my nickname Max Bravewolf. Ether way, It does not matter becouse my names where not given to me by parents. I am the product of an experiment to create the ultimate lifeform by an evil cult which thankfully has been eradicated by yours truely. My soul is made up of the essence of me from other dimentions, and so I know a lot about many things but nothing about RhyD'in From what I have gathered from the dragons of other dimentions is that they all came from another world. After being created here, from what I have gathered about RhyD'in being the center for the whole of time and space and having the most direct links to God, or the many gods (I do not know what is true but I am not here to discuss religion) I asume that this is the place those dragons mentioned. After being born as a dragon, and a blood dragon in perticular, I felt that I should investigate into the origins of my kin. This book is the product of my research and feotures interviews and investigations into the different dragons of RhyD'in and the whole of the multiverse.

Please remember that any help is appreciated, if you have any knowledge on dragons and their races, feel free to contact me.

The Mother Of All Dragons

Not much is known but from what I have gathered, she is the god and creator of my kin. Most of my information on blood dragons have been gained in audiance from her in my dreams. From her, I have discovered that dragons where origionally created to keep the balence between good and evil but some event in history coused my kin to lose touch with her and so the purpose of dragons has been removed thus allowing the existance of some of the evil dragons of today. Im the only dragon who knows anything about her or our original purpose. I did not manage to see her well enough to get a discription.

I am a blood dragon, but I do not class myself as one exactly, there are some differences between me and the origional dragons and so I have split it into two sections.

Traditional Blood Dragon

I do not know the apperence of these dragons, as The Mother Of All Dragons stated herself that there are differences between my apperance and theirs but what I have gathered is that they have the power to use every breath weapon imaginable, have the ability to transform into whatever they want owning magic fleash and blood made out of the fleash and blood of all creatures. In dragon form, they are extreamly large and it is not known how tall they can grow but have been known to be over 1600 foot from head to tail and longer whilst their hatchlings are 400 (same size as me when I first became my true form). Unlike me, their genes do have dominant and recessive ones, meaning that over time, the dragons of today were born.

Artificial Blood Dragon
This is what I am. I class myself as artificial becouse I was made by magiscience, not by the gods or by natural breeding. Due to the fact that the methods used to make me where dark, I am closely aligned to that element but that does not mean I am evil, unlike other dragons, I have a connection with The Mother and so, am a good guy. My affinity to darkness actually makes me a better hero as I can absorb dark energy, thus rendering it harmless. I am currently only 3 weeks old and so my adult size is unknown. I have access to all breath wepons and when mixed together it creates a red beam. I give off a strange black mist, thats properties change depending on my form and mood. In dragon form, the whole of my eyeballs are compleatly red and my scales are black. I have horns going down from the top of my head to my tail. On the end of my tail, there are loads of spikes pointing in every direction. My wingspan is slightly longer than my length from head to tail. In this form I need to stand on all four claws. I can transform into anything, but my eyes stay the same and my skin is dark gray and if the form has hair of any kind it is silver. Both my skin and blood is made of all of the cretures in RhyD'in magically fused together. Both my skin and blood can multiply and die at fast rates allowing transformation. Due the fact I can dislocate my jaw like a snake to eat things larger than me and that my body will natually grow to take whatever is in my body and will make sure that the rest of my body is in proportion, I can literally eat anything, including a planet. This is why if you spot signs of the creation of a blood dragon by these artificial means, you must contact me imediatly as whilst we have our connection with the mother, the creator can easyly place the blood dragon under mind control and I aqm the most qualifyed to deal with the situation. I am currently being scanned by a robot to reviel my own biology. Untill then this is all the information I can give about myself but what I have desribed should be the same as my children (If I have any) due to the genes that make me a blood dragon have magically been made dominant.

New Info!!!!

After being scaned by a robot, I have more to add to this section.
The mist that my body gives of are actually living cells and they are created as the result of a chemical reaction between a chemical in my blood and my body cells. This chemical is highly toxic. I have a fantastic field of vision thanks to my eyes being different. You could describe my eyes as being all pupil. The red colour is coursed by a layer over the eyes that becomes thicker and thiner to control how much light goes in. The fact that that colour is red is a mistry but I think this is again becouse of my origins. My eyes glow in the dark allowing me to see when there is little light. It turns out my breath wepons aswell as those in other dragons are performed by chemicals produced and stored in bags attached to the lungs and are reliesed into the lungs to perform the breath attack.

Now that I have written all I currently know about me and the dragons of old. It is time for me to begin my reserch into the dragons of today. If any dragon is willing to be interviewed about their breed, please contact me. Please remember I have not been here long so I am a little dim when it comes to my knowledge of RhyD'in and the races that live there.

Wyverns

There is another book in this libary about wyverns and you should read it if you wish to know about wyverns particularly. This chapter is about the relationship between the two simular races. Wyverns compared to dragons are very small and have stingers in their tails as their primary wepons and their breath skills tend to be fairly weak compared to that of a dragons. If anyone knows anything about the origins of wyverns, then I would be interested in using it for this book. Wyverns like to eat dragon eggs, which couses a hate between the two races.

Ice Dragon

When people hear the word dragon, they normally think of the fire kind. This is why I love hearing about ice dragons becouse they are a compleate contadiction to this steriotype. I have seen a few ice dragons but have not gotten to know any that well.

Ice dragons tend to have light blue scales. Their breath weapon is ice.

Fire Dragon

These are the most well known of dragons and so are the most hunted. There breath weapon if fire. These dragons are normally very antisocial and being so well known, they have every right to be. The Red Dragon, the symbol of the Red Dragon Inn is most likely a fire dragon.

New blood dragon
I have heard that there is also another type of dragon called a blood dragon. They proberbly got the name when the origional blood dragons died out. Do not bee fooled though, this new type tends to be fairly sinister so make sure you know your dragons!

Mercury Dragon Entry.

Environment: Temperate and warm mountain and underground

Treasure: High Rate of Finding Things of Value

Alignment: Always chaotic good

The dragon seems long and slim, with a narrow body and a slender, whiplike tail. The sleek head has a long, pointed snout, with short horns curving forward from behind the lower jaw and larger horns curving backward from behind the upper jaw and eyes. The wings seem mirror bright. There is a crisp scent, like a spring morning, about the creature.

Mercury dragons are fast moving and highly whimsical. When they speak, which is fairly often, the words come so quickly that many creatures can't keep up. Mercury dragons are known for making and changing decisions frequently.

At birth, a mercury dragon's scales are dull silver. As it ages, the scales become brighter and brighter, until at adult age they gain a brilliant mirror finish. The dragon's eyes start out a deep blue or violet with a dark pupil and a pale yellow-white iris. As it gets older, the eyes become paler and brighter, until they become pure yellow white at the wyrm stage. Sunlight or other sources of light reflecting off the scales and wings of a mercury dragon can be blinding.

Mercury dragons love clear air and bright sunlight. They lair in high caves, preferably facing east to catch the morning sun, and their territories always contain several places that fill with sparkling light in clear days. These may include snowfields, glaciers, mountain lakes, and sun-dappled alpine meadows.

Mercury dragons can and will eat almost anything if the need arises, and they love to hunt, at least some of the time. They'll pounce on prey of nearly any size, from big game to tiny rodents. They claim that the smaller and quicker the prey, the better it tastes.

Because they share the same habitat, red dragons are mercury dragons' worst enemies. The larger reds have the advantage in one-on-one confrontations, so mercury dragons usually try to evade them through their superior speed. Mercury dragons usually stay on friendly terms with any silver dragons living near them, and they may team up from time to time when a red dragon threatens one or the other. A silver dragon, however, usually considers mercury dragons tiresome company at best due to their manic behavior and capricious natures.

Combat

Mercury dragons are as unpredictable when it comes to combat as they are in any other situation. They may parley, they might attack instantly, or, perhaps, they may avoid combat entirely. They never attack good-aligned creatures unless sorely provoked.

Mercury dragons always use spells in combat, if possible. They are very creative and can always figure out some innovative way of using virtually any spell to advantage in combat.

Breath Weapon: A mercury dragon's breath weapon is a line of intense light that burns whatever it touches, dealing fire damage.

Brilliance: As a standard action, a mercury dragon can use the mirror-bright membranes of its wings to reflect and concentrate available light into a beam of dazzling brightness. To use this power, the dragon needs light as bright as an overcast day or clear, moonlight night. Torchlight or candle light is insufficient.

The power creates a thin beam the dragon can aim at a single target within 30 feet of the dragon. The target is blinded for thirty minutes. If not using this technique as a weapon, the dragon can create a cone of light as bright as a daylight spell up to 60 feet long and the cone lasts up to 3 hours.

Alternate Form: A mercury dragon of adult age or older can assume any animal or humanoid form of Medium size or smaller as a standard action three times a day. This ability functions as a polymorph spell cast on itself can assume only the form of an animal or humanoid. The dragon can remain in its animal or humanoid form until it chooses to assume a new one or return to its normal form.

Fire Subtype: Fire immunity

Protected Sight: A mercury dragon is immune to any effect that would blind or dazzle it. It also gains racial bonus against any light or pattern effect

These Dragons are faster than they are strong, but they can get rather large just like any other dragon.

Red Dragon Entry.

Enviroment: Mountains and Temperate Areas,Tropical Islands

Treasure: Good Chance of Finding things of Value, although The Red Dragon often just just takes things to increase his hoard, not always valuable, just shiny.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil.

A red dragon can be identified by is long wings and two long horns. He has a long, red, forked tongue. Tiny flames often dance in his nostrils when he is angry. His eyes gleam with unrestrained greed when he has seen treasure. He smells of smoke and sulfur.

Red dragons are fiercely territorial. They prefer to eat meat, especially people. Red dragons have been known to force villages to sacrifice maidens to them. (This is a matter of taste. As you would have it, apparently maidens "just taste better.") The best part of a meal for a red dragon is drinking the blood.

These dragons are the strongest of the chromatic dragons, but they are slow compared to others of their kind, such as the Mercury dragon. They are solitary and attack before talking, on occassion they see themselves as gods and terrorize villages for countless years. They have no real friends in the dragon world and seeing them usually is a bad sign no matter what race you happen to be.

At birth these dragons are weaker than most races, but quickly develop rock hard scales and razor sharp claws. Their eyes are usually white with red tints in the middle, as they grow older the redness grow stronger, the oldest dragons eyes are blood red and impossible to read intentions from them.

Red Dragons love to be alone more than anything. Their lairs always include their cave and places that fill with light and attractive places where people go to, trapping victims is formost on its mind. The Mercury Dragons often get in the way of this action because they are both attracted to the same places, and they are natural enemies.

Combat.

Red Dragons are grossly over confident and arrogant, they attack with out thinking in a straight forward fashion, this usually strikes fear into the hearts of the victim, they almost never show mercy unless to question somebody about the location of treasure, Good -aligned creatures are always a target to the Red Dragon.

Magic isnt a part of the Red Dragon's combat style. Although if up against a magic user they will use some of the meanest spells in their arsenal to combat the threat. Not all magical advantage is taken in battle.

Breath weapon: A Red Dragon's main weapon is intense flame that can fire up to one hundred feet and a sixty foot cone at its maximum extent.

Magic Resistance: Red Dragons are highly resistant to magic of all kinds as they grow older. It takes a very skilled mage or magic user to effect them, the oldest Dragons are almost completely immune to magic.

Alternate form: Although they can change their form they usually dont, however, they will be more than willing to change forms to mislead parties or caravans right into their lair.

Popular to modern belief the Red Dragon is not connected to the element of fire. It's red color comes from its spirit of evil and countless centuries of bloodshed from its ancestors. Fire will effect this dragon's outside, just because it breathes flame does not give it an immunity, just a higher resistance to it. The Red Dragon is not an elemental dragon, just a evil chromatic dragon of immense power.

Red dragons are greedy and covetous, and obsessed with increasing their treasure hoards and not to be messed with.

Guardian Dragon Entry

Enviroment: Graveyards, Tombs, Ancient places

Treasure: Great chance of finding something of great value.

Alignment: Neutral

Guardian Dragons are a mystery to all who encounter them. They are pure black and have no real defining features save for their wings and powerful teeth. Nobody knows where they came from. All agree that they are mystical in nature and their status as real dragons is disputed greatly among scholars and mystics constantly.

These Dragons are never born. Infact summoning them is a lost art from countless centuries ago. Often they are encountered by grave robbers and explorers that stumble upon forgotten tombs in the wilderness. Otherwise they never attack or even show themselves otherwise. Their lairs are often quiet peaceful places that erupt into chaos instantly. These creatures sometimes adapt a bloodlust and kill anything that comes near, some of them ask questions first and if the right answers are given they get to live to tell the tale.

Combat

This is what Guardian Dragons were made for and are terrible enemies. Their claws and teeth tear through armor and they are extremely fast and accurate. They always attack head on once the threshold of their protective area has been crossed and have no sense of tactics or surprise, they are very good killers.

Breath weapon: A line of superheated plasma energy, this weapon melts anything it touches.

Invisiblity: The dragon can sometimes turn completly invisible at will, but they never attack this way, they always turn visible before they strike.

Incorperal: They are only semi physical, some weapons will pass through them at random, magical weapons always hit them.

Alternate form: Sometimes Guardian Dragons wander in the form of a wise old man or a ghost, helpful ones act as guides through the old places avoiding the traps and the treasure all at the same time.

The Guardian dragon is a unrelenting opponent in battle and filled with centuries of lost knowledge, You would be better off not to meet them because what ever they guard is better off left alone if they are required to guard it.

True Fire Dragon Entry.

Enviroment: Elemental Plane of Fire

Treasure: None

Alignment: Lawful Good

This beast is radiant in appearence and hard to look at. Its wings are expansive and its entire form is beautiful, with a hint of destruction dancing in its being, Elegance and power combined into one form to make a perfect union of flame and life, the majestic fire dragon.

True elemental Dragons are the rarest of all the dragons. Paraelemental dragons are much more common. Fire Dragons are beings of semi physical states and condition. On their home plane they travel in the flames and become one with them, perfectly camoflauged.

Fire Dragons are extremely intelligent. Despite this they are as unpredictable as the element they exist in. They usually do the right thing in the end but their methods are very destructive. Their main purpose is to keep inbalance their part of the four elements and they do this with unwavering persistance and dedication.

They usually dont get along with the other elemental dragons, but they will work with them if the threat is great enough. They can fly, but not faster than the wind dragons.

Elemental Dragons are extrememly long lived, their stages of life is a mystery to all but themselves.

Combat

Fire dragons are the meanest in combat, their very bodies are destructive as they are constantly on fire in a semi solid state. Most opponents cannot hope to stand against their awesome powers and speed.

They have no real need for true strength as their natural destructive properties replace it. They never let up in battle and perfer to attack in very chaotic patterns, and almost never the same way twice.

Breath weapon: Similar to a Red Dragon's breath, only its heat and range is four times as powerful.

Constant Light: The Dragon constantly produces light to act as a daylight spell, it can ward of the undead.

Pyrokinesis: The Fire dragon can control any flames in an area if they were there before or It created them. It can also cast any flame based magic spell

Immune to all forms of flame and heat, infact flame just heals it.

Shapeshift/Firetravel: A firedragon can turn into any shaped flame it desires, but no smaller than a candleflame, it can also travel from flame to flame in this fashion due to its connection to the elemental plane of fire.

Summoning: A skilled elemental mage can summon one of these dragons, but there is no way to control them, most times the beast just torches the mage and returns home. But on occasion if a cause is right and just the dragon will assist the mage in their mission and then return home.

Orange Dragon Entry

Treasure: Moderate level

Alignment: Lawful Evil

Enviroment: Forest

The Beast can be known because of its orange skin and horns on its head. Orange is this dragon's most defining feature, however it smells like oil or gasoline and its scent is harmless but it travels far with the wind, most people like the smell oddly enough.

Orange dragons are very rare to behold, their lairs share with the Green Dragon and there for their numbers are pretty low. They are part of the Chromatic Family so they share their evil trait, but because they are so far removed and rare they usually enforce the laws, albeit with a touch of evil.

Orange dragons often prefer to be away from civilizations and human kind as a whole. They often do not speak to anybody else either, but when they do it is often important. They seldom betray anybody, but will if they can gain something out of it.

At birth orange dragons are a pale orange, as they grow older they resemble the sunset and sunrise, at old age they can completely camouflage themselves in the morning sun, their wings are awesome sight to behold as sometimes they can get people's attention and put them in a trance like state for a short period of time. Orange Dragon's usually grow to be 50 feet tall.

Orange Dragons love trees for some reason, perhaps simply for the fact that where there are lots of trees they know there will be few people to mess with their lairs, but oddly enough it is not known why they choose these lairs, but often they include a lake somewhere in them.

Because these dragons share the same lairs as their reclusive yet much more dangerous cousins the Green Dragon, they usually battle fiercely, and the orange dragon usually loses the fight.

Orange Dragons usually eat large amounts of fish and forest animals, plants if they are having a hard time, rarely eat humans..if ever hunting isnt something they like to do but will do it.

Combat.

Orange Dragons are fierce fighters, but sometimes too noble for their own good and that is why they lose their battles, they wont press the advantage on a wounded fighter unless it is a truly hated enemy. They prefer attacking in the early morning or the sunset when they are most active, their eyesight at night is not the best so they avoid night combat if they can.

They can often use magic spells in combat when they feel the need to do so, not as creative as the mercury dragons, but pretty close they can be pretty inventive when they are hard pressed.

Breath Weapon: Napalm, This weapon is a gooey substance that bursts into flames the second it touches something else, they can fire this up to seventy feet and its the reason for the dragon's oil smell.

Shapeshift: The Dragon can change into a human form, it usually does so when a human wanders into its lair, it will usually guide them out and to somewhere safe.

Like all dragons the Orange Dragon has a resistance to most magics, naturally.

Purple Dragon Entry

Treasure: Extreme level

Alignment: Lawful Evil

Enviroment: Ruined Castles

Purple, the color of royalty and power. This Dragon can be known for its dark purple skin color and large wingspan, its spine is lined with spikes and the beast always looks ready to jump into the fray of some great battle.

Purple Dragons are most closely related to the Black Dragon due to the darkness of their skin, but this is where it ends. Purple Dragons are the only ones of the chromatic dragons to enjoy and take over human castles and strongholds, once they take it over the lair, they often equip it with their own insidious traps.

Purple dragons do not have any chromatic dragon enemies and share their lair with no other.

At birth these dragons are a very light violet and easily can be mistaken for some kind of pet if found by a human, they quickly grow darker purple and their eyes almost turn black, their violent past allowed for them to grow thicker than usual armored plating scales. Being active mostly at night this gives them excellent night vision.

Purple Dragons will eat anything that moves.

Combat.

These Dragons are very intelligent and usually educate themselves in the art of warfare in their free time and have extremely strategic minds. They usually win their battles and will do anything it takes to win it. They learn from the best, the humans. They are very strong and even faster.

They know a lot about magic, offensive and black magic and will not hesitate to use it to their full advantage.

These Dragons can and often do change their form to that of Lords and Kings and other figures of power, sometimes they have entire armies to fight for them.

Breath Weapon: Dissolving Ray, This terrible weapon destroys the chemical bonds between molecules, it destroys everything it touches up to 80ft, Purple Dragons are immune to its effect.

Shape shifting: These Dragons are very avid shifters and will use this ability to their advantage, if losing a battle, or to use it as a surprise last resort, imagine the enemy's surprise when the leader turns into a Dragon!

Night Invisibility: Flying in the night sky renders them completely invisible

Dark Magic Immunity: The Dragons are immune to black magic and curses.

Dark vision: These dragons can see in complete darkness and can see the invisible

These Dragons are rare usually because they die in human form through assassinations and the like, in human form they are extremely easy to kill compared to their dragon form but are not to be underestimated as they will kill any they consider a threat. Their treasures are vast and legendary.

Black Dragon Entry

Treasure: Medium level

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Enviroment: Swamps and Bogs

The Black dragons are the meanest of the chromatic dragons. They smell acidic and of rotting plants. They can be identified by their horns that come from the sides of their head and their skull like features of their faces. They spend a great deal of time in the water of their swamps. Their eyes often are a greenish black in color.

Their lairs almost are always in the middle of swamps or other wet areas sometimes sharing with Green dragons. They love gloomy settings and stale water. Sometimes entire swamps are claimed by them.

Black Dragons are terrible parents, often they simply leave eggs in a pool of acid and leave them be. At birth these evil creatures have no knowledge of the word mercy, and they will kill anything they think they can get away with. Their scales are almost grey at birth, but it quickly fades into a black shine. They stay alone and are uncontrollable by any means. The oldest and most powerful black dragons sometimes look purple, but not enough to be confused with their cousins.

Black Dragon eat anything that lives in the water. Their only natural enemy is the Green Dragon, because sometimes black dragons eat them when they get a chance to.

As for their treasure they often have hoards that are valuable to them, but more often than not in order to obtain treasure, these dragons raid near by towns at their pleasure.

Combat:

These monsters ambush their targets. they can lay in wait for as long as it wishes to. It usually picks people off one at a time and it takes out the magic users first. It's enviroment can kill for it as it can scare adventurers into some kind of a trap. They attack with out mercy and very fast.

Black Dragons use very little in the way of magic, they do know alot about necromancy and torture spells though. But not always smart enough to use them when they need to, they dont work very well under pressure.

Breath weapon: A line of extremely corrosive acid. This weapon gets under armor very quickly and fires up to sixty feet.

Water corruption: Black dragons can make any water they wish insupportable of life, they use this in their lair so things cant sneak up on them and hide under the water.

Necromancy: Black dragons are naturally obsessed with death, and they can bring the recently dead back to life. Many swamps have stories of the undead stalking its waters.

They are immune to all poison, save for dragonbane. Also immune to their own acidic attack and most other acids.

They cannot stand the bright light of the sun or other bright light sources for long. Also they can not fly as well as other dragons due to their lair's entanglements.

White Dragon Entry.

Treasure: Minimum level

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Environment: Frozen wastelands, Icebergs

White dragons are the "Weakest" of their race. They are the least intelligent of their races as well, their mental capacity may be less than average, but they never ever forget any thing that does them harm. They don't really smell like anything but the temperature around them is always just below freezing.

Their lairs are always in the frozen wastelands, the oldest white dragons have entire icebergs for lairs and usually have the largest lairs of any dragon out there. On average their lairs often include access to the sea and snowfields.

White Dragons are not good parents they often leave the eggs in a snow cave and never see them again.

At birth they look like reptilian snowballs. They are fierce attackers against anything they think they can eat. As they get older their scales almost gain a crystal quality like their icy surroundings and their eyes, like the rest of their body, is pure white and it stays this way their whole lives.

White Dragons will eat anything as long as it is completely frozen. These dragons are at the top of their ecosystem and have very few enemies. In the past Ice dragons used to be their natural enemy, however, it was their intelligence that doomed them to near extinction. More on that later. But currently they have no natural enemies.

Combat.

White dragons have no knowledge of tact and strategy, they simply attack straight forward with all of their power and strength. If they are on the losing end of the battle they will retreat and try again later, some times years later.

They hate magic and dislike ones who use it, its mostly a jealous rage because they can't and don't have the patience to learn it. A spellcaster in a White dragon's eyes is nothing more than a bullseye waiting to happen.

Breath Weapon: A line of Frost that freezes anything it touches instantly up to 80ft away.

They are Immune any Ice or Cold type magics and weapons naturally.

Infravision: They can see in complete darkness and the invisible by seeing the body heat of living things at will.

They can predict the weather up to a month in advance with perfect accuracy.

Despite being the weakest of the dragons they are still more than a match for any human, and when enraged they can be a match for almost any dragon. They are the most underestimated of the dragon race and the oldest white dragons are something to be feared, it is a small blessing that their only victims are the ones that seek them out. White Dragons are uncontrollable by any magic or means.

These dragons can fly well enough to move from one ice cap to the other side of the world, but they can swim twice as fast and breathe underwater.

Blue Dragon Entry

Treasure: Maximum Level

Alignment: Chaotic Evil.

Environments: Deserts

Blue dragons are known better as the Desert destroyers. They like the heat and the dry air for unknown reasons, people say it is because it is the sky that matches their color and it renders them invisible when they are flying. They are fairly intelligent and they smell just like ozone.

These dragons keep their lairs in the deserts near a source of water and are largely underground in a vast system of caves. Their parenting skills are less than desirable often eggs are abandoned once laid and they are left to fend on their own. At birth the dragons are by far the most attractive of their species they are the lightest blue and look and act more like puppies than anything. As they grow older their innate temper sets in and they become a darker blue. The oldest dragons are as blue as the blue sky and their eyes seem to crackle with energy.

Blue Dragons eat anything, people included. They love to attack caravans in the desert at random and with no warning. They often take with them any thing they consider valuable back to their lair. Sometimes they will take prisoners, most times they just kill them. They are at the top of their ecosystem and respected as such, however they often compete with the Giant sandworms and some demons that roam the deserts. Out of all the dragons the Blue is most likely to become possessed by supernatural forces.

Combat:

The blue dragon, like others, prefer the ambush tactic. They can dive out of the sky with out warning or bury themselves in the sand and wait to attack. Once they do no mercy is given to the enemy at all, these dragons are extremely fast and do not know the meaning of hesitation. They know some magics and will use them as a last resort, they are capable of learning anything over a fair amount of time.

Breath weapon: A ray of lightning that fires up to 400 feet and and it's damage triples if it hits metal or water.

They are immune to heat attacks and lightning attacks.

Windstorms: They can naturally create wind and sandstorms with their wings that can completely incapacitate the enemy

They can detect water up to 50 miles in any direction.

They can evaporate water up to 200 gallons a day.

They can cast illusionary mirages at will to trick people.

They can be controlled with enough effort, but they have very strong wills and they often turn on their captor in an instant and eat them.

Dragon Species: Soul Dragons

Treasures: Varied.

Locations: Anywhere and in any Plane or even in between.

Alignment: Any. Temporarily Lawful Neutral when acting as Guardian to escort a soul to their afterlife.

Encountered: Extremely rare, even mythological
Soul Dragons are a unique and versatile species. They are unlike any other dragon breed, yet they can potentially have attributes from any dragon in existence. They can breed with any sentient species but will always retain their dragon self, which is a reflection of their own spirit.

Forms: Soul dragons don't have any one particular dragon form as a race. Some may simply look like one species of dragon, or perhaps another. Others might look like various combinations. It all depends on the individual personality and perhaps even their spirit.

It is unknown if there is a limit to how many dragon types a Soul Dragon will contain as themselves. It is speculated that there is a limit of some sort. The most recorded are four dragon types.

Reproduction: They are usually born as the species type represented by the mother.... i.e. humanoid types = babies, draconic types = hatchlings, feline = litter of kitties, etc... It's all up to the mother and which form she is in during birth.

The offspring remain as this form until puberty when the dragon self develops to come full bloom and their true selves are realized, if it is realized and developed at all. So one born as a black dragon could later develop into a cross between a black, gold and opal. Each one is unique.

Soul dragons rarely have more then one or two pregnancies on average. The more offspring they have in one pregnancy, the less likely they are to have another pregnancy. This, and the fact that very few Soul dragons develop to be their Soul dragon forms, would lead to their extreme rarity. Many worlds are unaware of their presence or deem them merely a myth.

Development: Once a Soul Dragon has discovered their individual dragon form, if they discover it at all, it is not something that changes. It becomes part of their DNA. Example: a Soul dragon born as a half elf will have traces of draconic DNA but the specifics are inconclusive. When their Soul dragon side develops to take on, for example: the red, platinum and black dragon attributes, then the DNA of Red, Platinum and black dragons become apparent and a permanent part of them.

The same thing applies for breath weapons... Soul dragons take on attributes of their dragon form. So for one that is a mix of red, platinum and black ... breath weapons would be any and/or all of Fire, Ice, Electricity and Acid.

Developing a Soul Dragon has been linked to a spiritual awareness, a self analysis and acceptance to be dragon, which triggers its growth. Sometimes dire situations of self preservation can also trigger it, though it has never been known in children.

Still, some Soul dragons don't know they are one until they are pushed in a situation that forces their draconic natures to spring forth. These situations are of an extreme nature. Most Soul Dragon adults never learn, never know, or refuse to harness their draconic abilities, though they do pass it along to their offspring.

The Soul dragon self never diminishes its presence because of any breeding with non Soul Dragons. So twenty generations later, a lineage can simply spring forth with a Soul Dragon as a result of breeding that occurred twenty generations ago.

It is theorized that a soul dragon had something to do with the evolution of dragons, perhaps even the creation. Maybe they were the first.. Perhaps all dragons were like them at one time. Some have speculated that Soul Dragons were an influence in the evolution of Dragons in general based on the fact that Soul dragons take on other dragon aspects and that all dragons can shape shift in some way, which is far more prevalent in a Soul Dragons then in any other type. Perhaps it is why they can be like any kind of dragon. Perhaps it is other dragons who have developed into the Soul Dragon, creating the Soul Dragon as a new race. Evidence to any of this is inconclusive.

Shape Shifting: Soul Dragons can shape shift to anything that is comparably the same size or up to 95% bigger or smaller then themselves at the time they shift. They shift on the molecular level, which means their DNA shifts to reflect the change. The Exception is the shifting into an inanimate object.

Example: A Soul Dragon who is born a half elf will have DNA of a Half Elf or any other species in their lineage, plus some traces of Draconic qualities. When their dragon self develops, their DNA reflects this, shifting DNA to include their dragon self (example: it will contain specifics of a red, black, platinum if that is what their form is).

The DNA then shifts whenever they shape shift, reflecting respectively the dominant form. Example: When in half elf form, the DNA for a half elf will show more predominantly, while the draconic side remains diminished. When in dragon form the opposite occurs, showing the draconic side to be dominant species and the half elven side to diminish.

Shifting to non living matter is possible although it first requires training. It also causes a serious drain to them and most can't hold this for more then a few hours, though some tales say a day. It is something they must spend time to develop with serious efforts. They must then rest for twice as long as they held it... example: rest for two after holding the form for an hour.

They can naturally walk through walls by becoming part of the wall or object to pass, sifting their molecules through the wall to reform on the other side. This must also be learned and studied before attempting.

Magical Aspects: Soul Dragons can harness soul magics with little effort. They see magic and can weave it in ways most study for years to accomplish. They are sorcerers in that once they are able to cast a spell, they never have to study it again, yet they are with the abilities of Wizards in the variety, power and versatility of their spells and often can create new spells or variations of other spells.

They can also avoid some magics by sifting between the weave of magic itself and/or shifting themselves to other planes of existence or even in between them. However they must have time to concentrate on it and they must practice to develop meticulous use in a swift manner. This means they are able to navigate not only themselves but can learn to bring others through the Nexus while most are at the mercy and whim of it.

Other Abilities: They can breath in anything.. water, poison gases, lava, vacuum of space, the Abyss, etc... much like the magical Necklace of Adaptation does for others. This is an automatic adaptation once the individual realizes and accepts they are what they are, a Soul Dragon.

Some are chosen or choose to be Guides or Guardians for the very recently departed souls of others, helping them navigate in between the planes and up the Great Stairs to their final resting destinations wether that be Heavens or Hells. They are bound to make sure the departed are brought to their proper resting places if the departed are bound to these places. Not every spirit goes willingly. In this role, they are always lawful neutral in the task so that if a soul is contracted to a deity, the soul is then delivered accordingly.

Soul Dragons can also call back the departed if they are able to heal the body whole by whatever means. This can only be done if the soul is not under contract with another Deity and the soul wishes to come back. They do not need the help of a deity to call back the dead, although they do need to know something about the one they call back, like a name, a place of birth or death, or simply have any portion of the body that contains their DNA.

Because Soul Dragons can shape shift, they can effectively mimic others with practice, though they can't change their eye colors from their own natural ones by shifting. They can use spells to do this.

They also have an innate ability to heal others, temporarily taking on the others wounds to themselves in a trade of sorts, leaving the subject healed while the dragon swiftly heals themselves of the wounds that were once the subjects. This is exceptionally draining and can sometimes be dangerous for the dragon. Sometimes other means are best used first or else only a partial healing should be done and rest in between before attempting to heal again anyone who needed more healing energy then the dragon had to give. Ignoring this rule will bring death to the dragon.

Immunities: Sleep, charm, mind control effects, most poisons. Atmospheric pressure fluxuations, Example: planet side vs extremely deep water vs void of space. They adapt. Plus special immunities granted by the individual dragon forms embraced.

((Note, should anyone be interested in playing a Soul Dragon, please contact me prior to this. I don't want just anyone playing one. It's not an open type of Species/Race. Thanks for your understanding and respect.))
