FOODS
The menu of the Inn consists mostly of game supplemented on occasion with rarer meats.
Game can include Venison, quail, pheasant, boar, and bear. Meat of most carnivores has an unpleasant taste and usually is not served.
I usually charge a flat rate of 5 gold for buffet dinner consisting of appetizers, meal, and fruit and cheese or a sweet for dessert. This meal comes with 1 drink (ale, wine, beer, etc.). This is because of the quality of the provisions stocked by the Inn and the excellence of our cook.
A typical buffet can consist of:
Appetizers such as smoked oysters, fresh baked rolls, butter, cheeses both semi-hard such as Yavel (like Swiss), Porfis (like cheddar) or Theran (like Provolone) and semi-soft Orfil (like Meunster), Charak (like Bel Paese) or Nezra (like mozzarella), also specialty items such as pickled eel, marinated lizard, smoked salmon, or roasted thrush.
Entrees may be meats done on the spit with our special sauce such as roast venison or a side of beef, from the oven may come roast turkey or quail pie, and from our smokehouse smoked turkey, salmon and other even more exotic meats. We serve fish of various types and shell fish of all kinds. All entrees come with steamed veggies, baked or boiled potatoes and fresh baked bread.
Desserts include most sweets found in the realms from honey buns to the regal delights of frozen ices and creamy puddings. Also there is fruit and the ripened cheeses of many lands. These include Ulfland Grey (an unappetizing looking cheese that is the glory of the realms for its nutlike sweet flavor), Kesland (like Rouquefort), and the best of them all, Vresdal Violet, a cheese so rare that only 6-2 lb wheels go on the market each year (it has the heady aroma of fine cream and the taste of the cool mountains where it is made).
As to the spit, this is a special item of the Inn given in gratitude to Tamira. The designer and artisan who created this wonderful item was a dwarf of the Lofty Crags by the name of Torlas Fireforge. It is operated by stepping on the lever to the left of the hearth, disengaging the chain from the spit, removing the spit and placing the meat on it, one end of the spit fits into the receptacle on the right side of the hearth, the other after the chain is looped over the teeth of the gear is slipped into the one on the left...then and only then is the pressure released from the lever.
Specialties of the house include:
Ankheng in a spicy sauce...tender slices of ankheng marinated,then smoked, and poached in a wine sauce flavored with the hot, tangy pepper of the desert kingdom of Pharos.
Crayfish Creole...Giant crayfish, steamed and served with a red tomato sauce flavored with the spices of the southern penninsula, it also contains fresh peppers, sliced mushrooms, garlic, and a pod vegetable that only grows on the southern penninsula.
Quail Pie...tender young quail, deboned and stuffed with truffles, and minced nuts baked in a flakey crust with a thickened sauce flavored with wine and brandy.
Wines
Jafran...blue bottle, pale green wine....slightly tart with a pleasant taste
Milambrian Port.....wine of the Northern port of Milambria.... Very dry; not watery at all. Rich burgundy colour. It's sort of a combination of Chateau-La fit Rothschild and a nice aged Burgundy.The
Romulan ale.....this is an ale imported by magic....cannot be drunk until 3-4 weeks after arrival because of the energies involved
Firewine....this is an EXTREMELY potent wine with a very hot firey aftertaste
Cimbrian.....yellow clay bottle, blue wine.....light fruity wine of the Southern mountains

Let us not forget the famed Ice Liquor... a blue liquor, which, although stored at room temperature, turns ice cold when it is poured... Ice Liquor and Firewine, when drunk together make a stunning combination... and it is rumored by some that drinking them together can cure a hangover...
