Mondays were always a little hectic. With the crew getting back into a rhythm after a weekend off with their families and friends. Halloween giving them an unneeded excuse to party also yielded some interesting discoveries as they went through the day. Things popping out of tool boxes or a dead fish in someone's locker. Aja didn't mind the boys pulling these kinds of pranks on each other. They were relatively harmless, and as long as the work got done, she saw no reason they couldn't blow off a little steam.
Tristan was helping everyone out today, rather than being stuck in the office. It was an extra pair of hands to help move things along a little faster, as well as allowing Aja and Tristan to work side by side again. Of course each chance he got to torment Aja, he would take it. Mostly just a passing poke to her side, or a teasing run of his fingers up her spine. Before darting back to what he was doing, which at the moment, was helping to move the heavier pieces of lumber.
The work in Arcasa was going fine, and she wasn't needed to supervise it like she had been before, so today, she stayed at the yards and worked with Tristan. Something they had done little of while they both readjusted to him being back. Presently, he was pulling a pallet jack loaded with items heading to storage out of the warehouse they were about to tear down. While packing it up, the men had discovered it was in desperate need of repair anyway. Something they missed after the storm that hit in early spring. It had damaged the structure making the place a bit shaky. Aja took a break, wandering along the back wall of the building checking out the damage. A cracked been allowed just enough water in to start rotting the wood support beams. A strong wind would blow this over with no problem. So it was best it was coming down.
After unloading yet another load of lumber at the new storage shed staging area, he paused to wipe his brow, with a glance towards Aja a moment. He moved closer to her, watching as she checked out the damage they found that morning.
She looked over at Tristan, just long enough to get distracted from what she was about to say. Sometimes, it was maddening to be around the man. Taking a deep breath, she cleared her head and pointed up towards the loft area. "We got everything outta there?" "Yeah...They just got the last of it out." Called back over to her, while slipping his gloves back on. One hand going back to grab the handle of the pallet jack. Ready for one last load of lumber. Aja nodded and turned then to look at him. "Good thing this is coming down. Ya guys weren't kidding when ya said it was unsafe. One strong breeze and this puppy is gonna cave" "Just hope no one gets hurt if it does come down on it's own." A faint smile as he turned to head back to get the last load of lumber. "Make sure everyone is out! " Tristan called back over his shoulder. "Really?" she grinned as she followed him out. "I thought I'd let the kids play in there." she teased while watching him pull that pallet jack. He stopped on that as he looked to her. "One of these days, Aja Larson...Pow...Right in the kisser." Lightly balling up a fist to playfully nudge her chin with it. She laughed at that, ignoring the use of his last name as her own, as she stepped up. "You just keep dreamin' there, Spanky." she kissed his fist. "Ya know ya got better ways of handlin me anyway." "True." Slipping by her with a light poke to her ribs. Shaking his head as he decided not to embarrass her in front of the crew. Aja laughed lightly, shaking her head as she caught up and passed him as they headed for the dock where they were loading up a barge with the lumber heading for the sawmill. "Brat." When she darted by him, as he would start to help load the pallet jack with the last load of lumber. Once it was done, Tristan paused to wipe his brow again, as well as stretched his rather tired frame. "Tom! Haul this load up to the others!" Tom nodded and he ran over and started to haul the load of lumber off. "Sheesh boss...This weights a ton!" Was among the things that were muttered under his breath.
