Topic: The "Zoo" Project --OOC Notes

I adore that you guys just pick up pieces of this idea and run with them!

Feel free to have as much or as little involvement in it that you like.

Aja of course...has no objections to her friends coming in on the project and doing things. For her, it's something to keep her busy. Plus the added bonus of playing with cutsey "critters"!

It's going be a massive zoo/botanical garden and aquarium. Hey...possible theme park if someone gets the idea to throw that in there! It's RhyDin...the only limits we have are our imaginations!

So if your characters have specialties...they can chip in on any aspect of it they want.

Technicalities: Aja will have accounts set up all over RhyDin City and other places to purchase materials, pay for crews to work and have lunches and dinners catered.

I ask only that your character and mine discuss their approval on an "account". Which means, a nice OOC note from you to me about it so I don't see it in play and get completely lost!

And those OOC notes should go in this thread.

I'm keeping it simple. It's building a zoo. Not taking over the world, making slaves do any of the work or anything of that nature. You want Draaaahma land? With violence and other mayhem' Make your own.

This is a for fun "background" semi story line...something for your character to have to talk about during lulls in chat if you want. Not a "spotlight" story.

I thank you for your interest and wish everyone fun with it!

Oh...Additional request!

Keep other players posted in this thread too about what your character is doing...Maybe one player can strike up a conversation with your character about what they are doing.

That would just help it run along smooth and give you all more to play with.

Thank you again. :)

Location: A run down port town that Aja has found that is a little ways outside of RhyDin City.

She wants to work with the residents of the community there, improving their way of life while building a tourist attraction of a massive scale.

Please feel free to use that while playing to if you want.

It's a tropical climate.

Any mode of transport to and from it are completely up to you the player based on how your character tends to get from Point A to point B.

If anyone has any suggestions for the name of this new port town, feel free to shoot them out there. Cause I am *horrible* at names for things. I usually use name generators like : http://www.seventhsanctum.com/index-name.php to come up with names for towns Aja travels to and people she encounters.

Idea for Eregor— While surveying the swamp area and cleaning it up in prep for that part of the exhibit, he finds a treasure chest.

What he does with it or finds in it, is up to him. :)

And ... Maggie has been drawing up plans for a kids park.

What he does with it or finds in it, is up to him. :) Or perhaps not a treasure chest, but something else, washed up from a long-ago shipwreck or similar incident. Rhi-mun gave me that idea via AIM the other night, and I've been thinking of how to run with it.

I very much look forward to find out what it is!

Maggie and Aja have teamed up (Get the hard hats!) — They have asked "Uncle Antonio" if he can find animal slippers for the gift shop in the children's area of the zoo.

Originally, the traveling "petting zoo" was created for Kruger's Small Business carnival— Since then, some players requested it for other events. I encourage this. :)

So, the list of baby animals that will be available with the basic petting zoo include: (the entire thing comes also with NPC handlers for the animals who set up and take down the zoo)

Elephants, baby cows goats puppies kitties parrots seal dolphin— Including Zippy! He's a hound for fishies! llama camel Shetland Ponies for rides. ((Actual rides, not just in a small circle like we've all seen at carnivals. ))

Please feel free to add in any that I've missed or forgotten about. :)

In doing a little research for the zoo site: I'm using the stat of 200 million gallons of water treated per day for the zoo's facility.

Basing that on Philly's water treatment.

Just an FYI for those playing with the aquarium or botanical part of the project.

Just to cross reference....Eregor's zoology and botany courses at Bristle Crios Academy do include field work at the zoo, for the intermediate and (once I've posted them) advanced classes. I included a link back to this thread, in case anyone's interested. :)

Just a couple of quick notes to add!

Having been honing my Sims building skills over the last year, I think I'm just about ready to give building some of Hatten Point, as a world, and its attractions a go! It's my hope that it will help bring Aja and Company's vision of the place to life.

I have been able to find content to help build models of an arboretum, a zoo/aquarium, a campground, and an amusement park. With the newest expansion coming out next month, the ability to have docks and boats will be added. This could come in handy for visitors. Resorts will also be in Sims 3 and that might come in handy to build visuals of the other things for this project like a hotel. If you're working on a specific part of this project and I can help, please let me know!

Further notes to add regarding the Children's Play Park! :D

Harker & Hall Architecture Ltd. sponsored and did the construction for the Hatton Point Children's Play Park. The design was primarily created by Mairead Harker with assistance from her father, Dennis Harker.  Maggie's vision includes the following:

A family campground with fishing and picnic areas. Comfort facilities are also provided. For those that don't care for tent camping, there is an area with cabins nearby. The campground has its own playground.

The castle has an indoor buffet style dining area, full bathroom facilities, outdoor dining and play areas. The two story theater has adult instructors on hand to aid children to learn and develop their stage talents and skills such as acting, singing, dancing, and prestidigitation. For those that prefer more athletic endeavors, an archery range and swimming pool moat are available.

A similar castle venue is available for weddings and other events.

The Pirate Venue has a play area and comfort facilities inside the ship. Costumes and props are provided for children that want to play pirates on the high seas.

I think it's about time the finished S. S. Mini-Mate was posted!

Hatton Point - Children's Play Park: Phase III: S. S. Mini-Mate

The S. S. Mini-Mate has a play area and comfort facilities inside the ship. Costumes and props are provided for children that want to play pirates on the high seas. The venue is located on a coastal section of Hatton Point. Children and their adult chaperones will be able to climb aboard this refurbished and currently stationary galleon. Kids can play pirate, learn the art of sailing, how to tie nautical knots, navigate by the stars, or just relax by the water. A redwood deck provides a dry path from the ship to the shore as well as seating to enjoy the scenic vista. An artificial waterfall as well as luminescent coral plants lend to the oceanic atmosphere.

This area is primarily for the tots that are not quite ready for the on deck activities or for inclement weather. Below this deck are sleeping quarters and more comfort facilities for overnight and weekend accommodations. These areas are accessed through the side door entrance of the ship. There is also a Captain's cabin in the upper section of the ship.
