Now Open ((Open Thread)) The sign appeared in the window of a once vacant corner shop. Workmen had been busy for three weeks prior and a small slight woman in blue had been occasionally glimpsed bustling around the premises ordering shelves and display cases placed "just so." The paint on the exterior was a silvery white colour, with silver trim with a dark blue door"the sign hanging in front was dark blue and read: Silver Speaks

In an elegant script. Under that it read:

"Custom Jewelry and Leatherworks"

In the same, but smaller script.

As you enter, the Proprietress could be viewed at a worktable in the back, almost hidden behind display cases filled with stunning jewelry, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and circlets for one's hair, hair pins and barrettes. Belts and other fashion accessories were in another case. All appeared to be of the highest quality. Most were crafted from silver, but some are gold, platinum and other precious metals.

There is also a case filled with the raw materials for crafting that special one of a kind piece. Strands of silver, gold, platinum and pewter flow around small piles of diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls, amethysts and other stones are on display to inspire that one-of-a-kind custom piece for that sweetheart. The counter at the back has a small sign that reads: "ring bell for service." In front it is, oddly enough, a small silver bell. On the walls are pictures of men and women wearing some of the pieces found in the store, as well as some beautiful artwork crafted by local artisans. Behind the counter are two doors, one of which leads upstairs to the space Xania now calls home, a cozy little apartment right above. The other door leads to her safe and a private room where she shows the most rare and exemplary items for those patrons with truly discerning tastes. The shop is warm and comfortable feeling, giving the air that you could find not only a simple inexpensive piece for any occasion to the high end pieces you'd pick for your close loved one.

Xania steps out from the back worktable, smoothes her tunic and makes her way to the door. Taking a deep'very deep"breath, she flips the sign over and unlocks the door. Reminding herself that she's got a solid plan and customers already, she reassures herself by thinking of Eless and Will, and Eless" love of all things sparkly: It's ok if no one comes in on the first day. You already have the wedding deal locked up.

Throwing the door wide open, it's official.

She's open for business.

Won't you come in?

The diminutive elf's warm laughter mixed with that of her devastatingly handsome fiance while they walked about the Marketplace, pausing at the newly opened shop. Wil guided the giddy Eless— high on RhyDin Fashion Week— through the entrance to the Silver Speaks. The engaged couple came to visit just as they had promised the young Xania a couple of weeks ago. With his hand lightly resting at the small of Eless' back, they moved to the counter where Eless gently rung the silver bell, announcing their arrival.

While they waited for Xania to appear, the excited pair glanced about the cozy interior and whispered their appreciation of the fine craftsmanship exhibited within the various displays.

Wil adjusted his shades and looked around at the items in the display cases. He couldn't help but smile at Eless' excitement. She sure did love shiny things, and he loved pleasing her in every way.

He leaned in close to Eless and whispered, "Looks like Xania was right about her shop. It's got some very nice things here. I'm sure we'll find something we can use for those little wedding gifts that we give our guests."

He had already given up any hope of saving any money, and if money ran out, he could always accept another assignment.

"Maybe she's not here!" He was hopeful. "Well, we tried. Let's go have a coffee." If they can only get out of the shop before Xania appeared!

((OOC))

This is just a quick note to apologize for my absence. I had my tonsils removed at the end of january, and managed to catch a nasty little infection that landed me in the hospital for four days...since then, it's been a hell of a battle to get better.....I'm finally back, and I'm sorry I was unable to post anything............. But I'm back.

Xania was up in her apartment chainging a torn tunic when she thought she heard noises coming from down stairs. Tossing the new one over her head, she dashed downstairs, hoping that she didn't actually miss the first real customers...... "It'd be just my luck...." she muttered under her breath.....

((Thanks, love))

Dusting the shelves in her shop, she perused her mechandise. Circlets of precious metals, set with stunning jewels, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings to match all spaced provactively throughout four display cases against one wall. In the center of the room a large retangular case showed stunning worked silver belts, daggers and sheaths, and other small weapons. Against the opposite wall, another set of cases held her leatherworks. Belts, bags, wallets, some embellished with silver, some with jewels were displayed to sell. It was here Xania stopped and pulled keys from the lab-style coat she wore over her clothes when working. Unlocking, then opening the case, she cleared a space on the center shelf and set a fine leather choker with inset silver teardrops. It was one of her finest pieces yet.

She closed the case, locked it and dropped the keys in her pocket. Taking the coat off, she hung it in her office and sat at her desk. Pulling a sheaf of papers from a drawer, she glanced over the orders yet to be filled. Disappointed, she pulled another set of papers, these from her latest inventory. That last two orders from her suppliers had arrived piecemeal and there were still things on back order. A glance toward her workroom showed several pieces in various stages of completion. She can't finish any othe them until the rest of her orders come in. Damn it.

Sighing deeply, she set the papers aside. With the breeze blowing in fromm the open front door, she pulled out her accounting books and settled in for a long lonely night at her desk doing bookwork.......
