Recently a new restaurant has risen out of the myriad dotting the marketplace. While one at first would wonder why another eating establishment was really necessary, it was on the inside that mattered. One could start with the focus of the restaurant, or if one asked the bear, a "diner". That bear had reached deep into his financial investments, thanks to his 30 years of work as a pediatric cardiologist back on Earth, to help introduce Earth food to the ethnicities of Rhydin. Or to be more specific, "American" food as it was called.

A pair of swinging glass doors served as a portal to the place. Inside, it was decked out very much like a 1950's American diner, with black & white checkerboard tiling over the floor. Several booths were laid out in L-configurations in the front left and right corners. The mainstay was the stainless steel counter stretching across the back of the seating area, complete with a row of swivel chairs for patrons. Against the rightmost wall was a old musical playing machine known as a jukebox, which contained a collection of LP's from the era the diner meant to emulate. The bear had gone to careful consideration to include some of Rhydin's more native tunes as well, at least those that he decided had a "Rock 'n Roll" feel to them. During most weekdays, the bear could be seen behind the counter, wearing his favorite stained apron and crooked chef's hat, usually drying some glasses.

The diner maintained a full-time staff, including no less than 6 Chanseys and 8 Charmanders on kitchen duty. The diner served breakfast, lunch and dinner anytime during opening hours. It was open from morning until evening during the weekdays, and open 24 hours on the weekends with an insomniac Charizard taking over the graveyard shift.

If the door had a bell attached it just rang, and as everyone knows when a bell rings, someone is about to get some waffles. Walking in behind that bell, as if on cue, were four individuals, blue-collar men from the look of it. The first through the door was a man in a suit, three-piece with a fat tie and cheesy mustache. It was Chris. He carried a briefcase in his left hand and his look was all business. A pause for effect was given before the shoulders were shrugged violently, sending the butterfly collar into flight. The others fanned out behind him, Mac, Chewie, and the new guy on the force, Doc. Arms crossed, heads leaning slightly to the side, they gave Chris a nod. A nod, an unspoken word sent in a simple gesture; these few, these precious few. With that Chris stepped to the counter and placed the briefcase on the floor as he took a seat. His eyes were locked onto the one behind the counter as he began removing the utensils from the napkin they were wrapped in; this was a business trip. Can the waffles pass mustard" Is this the last refuge for RPS Enterprises, or, is this just another stop on the road in that quest for the tasty anytime waffle"

"I would like to try your waffles."

The bear glanced up, keeping a friendly look on his face as the lead of the rat pack stated his dish of choice. He hadn't expected such....well, important looking people to be among the first to shuttle themselves in. But the gauntlet had been thrown down.

He spun around on a spongy paw to a tray window separating the kitchen from the dining area. "Snorlax Lax Snorlax Snor Snor!" Immediately from the kitchen sounded, "Charmander Char Char!" "Snorlax Snor!" The instant sounds of cooking were obvious. The bear turned back to the four with a polite smile and proceeded to offer them beverages of their choice as the meal were prepared.

The bell on the tray window echoed in the dining area, signifying the dish was ready. The bear picked up the plate from the window and deposited it before the man with the briefcase. The large fluffy waffle occupied the total acreage of the china. Butter (the whole kind, not those silly little wax paper-covered packs) and maple syrup were set down for use. The bear then took a step back and continued drying his soda glasses.
