A TIME FOR CHANGE IN RHY'DIN

For too long, Rhy'Din has lived under the shadow of powerful creatures of whom few know anything about. These Powers-That-Be have allowed travesty upon travesty to infect the city. Murder has become so common in Rhy'Din that most of us have grown apathetic to the devastation that takes place when one man's family has their lives torn apart by selfish, or evil acts of violence.
There have been wars - both within the walls of the city and without. We have had to raise our children on the front stoop of Genocide, murderous undead, raped children, theft, backstabbing, corruption, racial hatred, and decadent politics.
My name is Rakeesh Sah Tarna, and you may or may not know who I am. I am the Guildmaester of the Adventurer's Guild, which guards the Dragon's Gate area from foreign threat. I am the Captain of the dueling club, The Champions of Mythos. I was awarded the 2006 Golden Dragon Duelist of the Year. I was the bearer of the Opal ShadoWeaver, and I was the Baron of New Haven. Before I came to Rhy'Din, nearly five years ago now, I was a Paladin of Sekhmet; a liontaur native to the land of Tarna. My world is far from here, but once I was King of my Land - and I loved its people and its earth and mystery. My Land, like Rhy'Din, became ravaged by war - to this end, I saught out as a young cub to hunt those who had ravaged the land that I loved so. To become the Paladin that I needed to be, I turned from my crown to best serve my people.
I am an old man now, in a strange, far away land. But my arm is strong, my mind is sharp, and my heart is filled to the brim with the passion I feel for this land. I am too old to hunt every demon individually in Rhy'Din. I am too old to fight alone.
So today, my friends (effendis in my native tongue), I ask you to stand to fight with me. Fight the status quo that has plagued this land for too long - I have been fortunate enough to come to know the most amazing, talented, powerful, caring people that I have ever known here in Rhy'Din. This is my home now too, and I stand before you telling you that you and your children no longer need to fear the night. That you no longer need to divert your eyes to another senseless crime, or another crime.
It is time for change. Stand up with me and help me create this change. Take back Rhy'Din for yourselves. If you give me your vote for Governor, then I will lend you my arm, my mind, my experience, and every inch of my old, still-beating heart. I have travelled far and wide, and I know now that it is here, in the heart of this melting-pot - this glorious city - that I can best serve all of you.
Give me that chance. Come to meet me in the Inn, let me help you in turn. I will not fail you, Rhy'Din.
