Samuel Adder held a press conference in the middle of the afternoon soon after the results were announced. It was staged to feel more like a rally, with balloons and signs and pop music pumping from speakers, with a podium and low stage set up in front of an abandoned hotel in Seaside. Staffers were not answering any questions from the press about the reason for this site, but the heavy canvas cloth covering the entrance provided a heavy-handed clue.

"Good morning, good people of RhyDin!

"By now you may have already heard" that Colleen MacLeod-Fenner" will be the governor of this great city. And I want to take this opportunity to congratulate her on her victory. I am sure we will benefit from her diligent attention to improving education and emergency services in the year ahead, and I am sure we are all very excited to see her platform at work.

"So, Colleen" Congratulations, again? and you have my sincere gratitude for participating in this great contest with me. You too, Jesse. And the other candidate, too — whoever, and wherever, you are.

"This does not change my belief in you, the people of RhyDin, nor in the great city we share. If anything, it deepens it. Despite the questions I faced about who I am, an outsider to the social circles of my political rivals" despite the opposition mounted against us" despite zealots waging a propaganda campaign against myself and my esteemed benefactors" we came together and told this city that we believe in it, too. That we deserve to enjoy ourselves. That our joy is what gives us strength! That, together, we are capable of great things!

"RhyDin" I'd like to tell all of you something, right now." He leaned towards the microphone, smiled, raised his eyebrows at the crowd. "Samuel Adder is not done with this city, nor with any of you. What happened last night is just another step in the journey we started together on August 31st.

"Behind me is the next step!" he said, and the canvas cloth dropped on cue, revealing a lobby with a new facade, new doors and windows, and a sign framed with gold-painted branches that read THE GOLDEN BOUGH.

"The Golden Bough is a hotel and casino that will open its doors in just a few short months, on New Year's Eve! It is owned and operated by Shining Cities Entertainment, newly incorporated this morning, and it is the first of many projects I am planning as the company's new Chief Executive. We are already in the process of transitioning our campaign staff to this task, creating hundreds of permanent positions in this city, and we hope that we can rely on the friendships we have built during our journey together to help make this city a better, more exciting, more passionate place.

"I hope you'll join us." He paused for a brief moment, smiling a little wider, looking out over the crowd. "Thank you again, RhyDin, for listening today, for taking these steps with me" and for everything you have to offer.?

He stepped down from the podium with a few parting waves, leaving campaign staff to deal with questions from the press.
