New signs everywhere. If a wall hasn't been plastered it will be. Did you see that corner off the Marketplace with all those signs...yep one more. If you thought he wasn't serious...better look again folks.

DJ Zazzy Yas's Debate Recap

At the beginning of the broadcasting, DJ Zazzy Yas's Disclaimer starts rolling by a deep voiced, fast-talking announcer: The views, opinions, or positions expressed by DJ Zazzy Yas are hers alone, and do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions, or positions of Reilly Recording Incorporated or any employee thereof. Reilly Recording Incorporated makes no representations as to accuracy, completeness, suitability, or validity of any information related to DJ Zazzy Yas's broadcasts and will not be liable for any errors, omissions, or delays in this information or any losses, injuries, or damages arising from its display or use.

DJ Zazzy Yas blasts over the airwaves to anyone tuned in to 101.1 WHAM! "I apparently have to say that anything I am about to say is my opinion only." There is a short pause as she looks to the producer who is staring at her through the soundproof glass in her radio studio with his arms crossed. He gives a nod and she continues in her energetic voice, "Ok, now to the good stuff. Now for those of you who missed the election debates this year, I got the juiciest gossip about-" There was another pause and she continues slowly this time, staring back at the man behind the soundproof glass, "I mean, I have my opinion on what was said during the thing. "Anyway"

The host, Mr. Dib Jaster Aurene opened with the opening introductions. Poor Audrey Horne was sick at home, so her wife, Magenta came in her place. Fionna Helston and Kruger Allen were there, though. Questions hit topics of interspecies marriage, organized crime, animal abuse " don't ask, The Watch, and about our local schools and libraries. They ended with their closing statements about their platforms, but I don't know why since none of them were wearing any platform shoes, but they're nice to talk about I guess. Let's break the evening down, shall we"

In the opening remarks, Magenta gave an eloquent speech about her wife, listing her "business sense and youthful ideals", as well as that she still remembers what it's like to be a newcomer here, giving her extra perspective. Fionna started out by cutting down her two running mates. She said that the role of governor "is a serious job, not one to be undertaken by dilettantes or by those who would wield their power like a hammer." Now, that remark about a hammer had to be a direct blow to Kruger, the blacksmith. But why compliment Audrey as a debutante, when she goes on to insult Magenta by saying, "I wish Ms. Horne were present." Like Magenta isn't good enough to talk to' Who doesn't love Magenta" Kruger, in turn, said simply, if you like things they way they are, keep voting for the Governor Helston. Sounds like solid logic to me.

The first question of the night was "What is your current stance on undead interspecies robot marriage?" No cool news to report here, as all the candidates seem to support love in all its many forms. Magenta wins that question in my book with her response, "Well, I guess I'd suggest they live together for a few months first just to figure out what fits where" I mean that's always a good idea..." I tend to agree. I always enjoy a good fit myself" What' What' I didn't say anything. Don't look at me like that behind your glass window" Ok, so apparently, I need to have another talkin" to, so listen to this and I'll be back after a short break. And don't forget to check back this evening and every evening up until the election. I'll be playing the direct recording from the election debate transcripts for "unbiased coverage" of the debate cuz Reilly Recording wanted to be able to cover their a——

Debate Recap: Organized Crime

DJ Zazzy Yas here following up with the next installment of the debates. The next question asked the candidates what they would do to deal with organized crime" Kruger went first on the first hard issue. He made a good point and said that you've got to find the organizer of the group. Now, I don't know why he'd want to focus on the secretary, but it sounds like a good start. He suggested the best way to find the organizers would be through communication with the public. I'm all about communication here at 101.1 Wham! What' I'm allowed to free plug my own station. Anyway"

Magenta answered next and said that "Audrey has pledged to bring the Watch up to snuff with mandatory training courses" as well as enact "efficient deputization of RhyDin citizens". She also made her first dig of the night, and it was aimed at poor Krugs again, a proud member of the vigilante group, The Guardians, when she said, "be wary of vigilantism. When your only tool is a hammer, everything, including perhaps your fellow citizens, begins to look like a nail."

Governor Helston got hot under the collar and even called Magenta "Ms. Horne's stand-in" and she said that "Watch training is a ridiculous bandaid to this sort of issue..." So what was her solution' Or what has been her solution' After a lengthy response, she finally said that "The course taken has been to work with offworld law enforcement agencies to extend our reach."

After the initial answers all hell broke loose!

Magenta buzzed the provided buzzer to make a rebuttal, though we thought her original butt looked fine. She made an eloquent response to Governor Helston's insults and even complimented the Governor on her "clearly well thought out answer". And the Governor buzzed her head off to make a comeback. "I would ask Ms. Horne to not put words in my mouth that I have never said. What I said, to paraphrase, is that?" The Governor began to think that the other candidates were too stupid to form their own thoughts anymore, so she was polite enough to tell them and the audience what to think. I like when people do my thinking for me. I don't get my headaches that way.

Kruger's rebuttal focused on Governor Helston's remark about working with "offworld law enforcement agencies". He said, "I am disturbed that she would rely on off world law enforcement. Shall we import our police" No, the solution is not call for help from our nearest neighbor...it is right here inside all of us." The Governor quickly corrected him by saying, "Mr. Allen, No one said anything about importing law enforcement. You obviously weren't listening to what I said. I will speak simply for you. Bad guys go bye-bye. Home to their bad place. We tell people there to spank." See" Now that is put into terms I can understand.

Kruger responded, "Your pardon governor, I was simply taking the natural progression of relying too heavily on outside sources..that is the step, just before importing their ruler...giving up your religion and forfeiting your rights. Then who's hammer do we need to worry about' Unless we are strong enough to stand against it." Governor Helston skipped her buzzer to insult Kruger, "How old *were* you when you got dropped on your....anvil?" She later apologized for her remark, "Mr. Kruger's point was so absurd, I thought it must have come from some early childhood head trauma. I gather that such is not the case. My apologies. He's simply illogical." That is sweet of her to apologize. It takes a strong person to apologize and Rhydin needs a strong leader.

In honor of the moment, I dedicate this song. Please enjoy and stay tuned for more of my debate recap after "Apologize? by One Republic.

Debate Recap: Ani-Mal-low Abuse

DJ Zazzy Yas here following up with the next installment of the debates, and the producer man staring at me from behind the soundproof glass wants me to repeat that all these ideas are mine and Reilly Recording can not be sued for what I say. So, with that being said, I guess I can say whatever I want, so here goes"

The next question given by Dib Jaster Aurene was "Mr. Wystansayr allegedly has it on good authority that....someone in this town engages in punching kittens for sport. Do each of you approve or disapprove of violence against animals?" All of the candidates in question agreed that animal abuse should not be tolerated, but dueling is fair game. I got the scoop on this silly question and apparently what happened was once at the duels, Kruger fought against Rachel Douglas's kitten, Mallow. I have to side in Kruger's defense on this one since the kitten jumped in the duels to fight, but who can fight a poor, innocent kitten" What kind of a man is this!"! Just kidding, Krugs.

The next question was posed by Shai Vevea. "The Watch is definitely not doing what they are supposed to and each land tariff seems to have their own laws that they govern by and not the laws of Rhydin. What have you done or will you do while in office to personally see to the aiding of bringing these groups (organized crime) under control?" This was the first serious question pitched to Governor Helston first. She felt like they discussed crime enough and wanted to move on to the next question. Magenta agreed but Kruger was willing and eager to answer. He got turned down in a hands up vote 2 to 1 so they moved on, and I have to too.

Before we get to the last question about education, I gotta play another song. And don't forget to listen this evening to hear the full recording of the debate focusing on the candidates and the host. I don't know about you, but I hate when people talk over the main event, so for your listening pleasure all the background buzz has been edited out so you can focus on the questions and the candidates. So, now for that quick music break" Here it is. Demi Lovato with "Give Your Heart a Break".

Debate Recap: Education System

Ok. I'm back and let's get to the topic of education. The last question posed to the debate panel was from Alyssa Deya. "Do you have any plans on furthering education in Rhy'din, such as funding for more schools or libraries?" Kruger got handed this second whopper of a question. He responded with "The education of the young is something that readily needs to be addressed. An assessment of our current standard should be employed, we can't fix the plumbing until we find out where the leak is. If a well has gone dry, do you stand around and wait for rain or dig a new one" I pose that if the well of knowledge is found lacking then it is up to the community and it's leaders to dig a new well, newer books, stiffer restrictions on teachers, and plans that will address every education level and ability." I'll admit, I got lost halfway through that cuz I don't understand plumbing, but Governor Helston sure picked it up and was ready to roll with it.

She shot back "To translate Mr. Kruger's response for everyone: He doesn't know. He says that *IF* an assessment is done and standards are found lacking, *THEN* something should be done." I'm so glad she was kind enough to translate that for me. She thinks ahead to say just the right thing, so I don't have to think at all. She continued "I spent the early part of last year seeking a school for my daughter, since I was stepping into this office and since her studies had progressed to the point where I would be unable to continue her education sufficiently at home." She continued "I would also remind the other candidates that there is currently no taxation in RhyDin. The funding for these institutions comes from a number of sources - private companies, philanthropists, neighborhoods banding together." Wow! We have no taxes! I knew I loved Rhydin for a reason. Huh. I wonder how anything can get done in the government' Oh! Governor Helston said it right there. Phil and therapists. I need to thank Phil one of these days, once I find out who he is. But if these therapists are funding Rhydin government' wouldn't they have a pretty big say in how the government is run" Hm. I'm in the wrong business.

Magenta gave a beautiful statement. Of course, she and Audrey are thinking of their daughter, Suzie, so education is a big thing on their minds. "We think training classes should be put into place to help those who want to learn a trade, perhaps pair them up with professionals of the same ilk." Sounds good to me.

During the rebuttals, Kruger made a good point when he said, "I find it interesting that the Governor found it necessary to home educate at all, shouldn't she have invested time in these schools before this...I know she is highly intelligent, and must have discovered that her children were better off being educated at home, that in itself gives me reason to question the schools." Governor Helston left her podium to talk with her daughter, Lirssa. She came back to the podium and said, "I apologize for the delay, but we did have time for that. He asked a question that touched on matters personal to my daughter and without her permission, I was going to have to decline to answer." Um' I think" let me check". Yeah, I'm pretty sure that just a few minutes ago she mentioned that she brought up her daughter being home schooled like two minutes before that' and I don't think she checked with Lirssa then" maybe my records are faulty. I need to listen to that recording of the debates again and keep my eyes open. While I do that, listen to Taylor Swift and "Keep Your Eyes Open?.

Debate Recap: Closing Statements

DJ Zazzy Yas here and now for the closing statements for the governor debate. Well, apparently, Reilly Recording says if I play one person's final remarks, I have to play all of them. So I'm not gonna. They think they can hold me down! So here's my sum up. Magenta got to issue her closing statement first. She started out by thanking the other candidates, and ended with thanking everyone. Very sweet. You are certainly welcome, Magenta!

Governor Helston made her closing remarks next. Now, I'll be honest. Her closing was very long and I'm sure she saying some incredible life changing stuff, but I may have fallen asleep. But! I woke up for her afterthought statement which she offered good luck to the two other candidates and thanked the audience. Kruger rounded them out and began by thanking the other two and ended with his beginning point that if you are happy with the way things are, do not vote for him. Blah blah. Broken record. Governor Helston seemingly did not like that last part either and muttered something. A decent politician should always have the last word. Good job!

Interested in what she and everyone else said" Stay tuned for the 2012 RhyDin Gubernatorial Debate Recording featuring the host and the three candidates. Til next time, enjoy music, enjoy life, and go out and vote! Now for a commercial break.

((OOC Note: If I have provided any incorrect quotes or formatting of the order of questions and candidates, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to correct my errors. In the background can be heard some song extolling the virtue of a revolution. And the foreground is yet another ad telling you to vote for Kruger. Supporting small business, and standing up for the community.

As the ad ends another voice with the disclaimer releasing Reilly and WHAM from any liability. This message was paid for by the Resolute Rhydinians In Need of Kruger.

The disclaimer was of course followed by the gratuitous. "I'm Kruger Allen and I approve this message."

When Kruger arrived at his forge he discovered a palm size black leather bag had been left on the anvil, inside were seven cut and polished gemstones, one in each color of the rainbow, and a not that read.

I liked what you said at the debate and I would like to make a contribution to your campaign for governor. The appraised value of these gems is 25,000 silver crowns I hope it will help.

Hanging proudly over the gate leading into Bristle Crios and another from the rod iron support at Miranda's forge in the marketplace. The stain glass glimmering in the rays of the sun for all to see. If you are going to support someone, you put your heart into it. Otherwise why bother? With Kruger running for governor, his ideas, hopes for the Rhy'din community reflected many that had founded Bristle Crios.

The crowd quieted as the final tally was read off. Kruger stepped up onto a table. He nodded to those he had come to know well during the campaign. He didn't bother to check if there was any press present before beginning his final words for this group.

"I would like to begin by offering my congratulations to Fionna on her victory. To Audrey my condolences on our shared defeat. When I began this journey, I had nothing more than a dream of change and little support. Over the last several weeks many moved to back me, and together we raised our voices to make a great noise. To those who have been with me through this process, thank you I would not change a single moment of our association."

"The road has ended this year, but we must continue on a less travelled pathway. I will support the current administration, but that support will always be with an air of caution. First in my mind will be the question, how does this serve the people of Rhydin" I will ask the hard questions where others may lower their eyes, and bow their heads"or simply adjust their chairs."

"I look forward to the new year and the charitable celebrations that Rhydinian's always dig so deeply for, the greatest of which must be the charity called Rhydin. I will continue to support Rhydin, with the strength and firmness you have come to know from The Anvil."

He stepped back down, embracing his closest supporters, and thumping them on the back.
