I'm not writing this because I'm sentimental and feel like I need a place to record my thoughts and feelings. I'm writing this so when all is said and done, I'll have something to look back on to keep the memories clear. A lot's happened and there's plenty still to come before I can take a breath and wipe the sweat from my brow.

We'll start with The Order.

They call us Templars, but we're nothing like the old chivalric order of knights. I don't think there's even a holy man among us anymore. It's not about God or the Devil. It's about keeping the dark out, humanity has enough corruption already.

I was taken in when I was about ten or eleven, most of the men and women in The Order today were orphaned one way or another. It's easier to turn orphans into ghosts, hardly have anyone looking out for them as it is. So they take us in, take us to one of their training camps and then we spend the next six or seven years living in hell and wanting nothing more than to get out. More than a few kill themselves or die before they get knighted.

That's just the way of things.

We were taught how to fight and how to survive, how to spot angels and demons and everything in between and most importantly, how to kill them. We were taught how to step into the Fade and see them for what they really are, even when they try to disguise themselves in our world. That's how you get to them. You learn to exist in both worlds at once, to see what common folk can't. It's scary your first time, I've known a few who've gone mad from what they've seen on the other side of the looking glass.
