Elessaria

Before dawn, Elessaria awoke with a start. Her breath was a strangled gasp until she recognized her surroundings in the dwindling flame of the candle on the nightstand. Not rousing fully from the depths of his slumber, Michael instinctively tightened his arm about her and thus soothed, the empath drifted back to sleep. A couple of hours later, Eless wriggled out of his embrace with a soft smile gracing her lips when she sensed the faint bit of disappointment flowing from him through their link. She tilted her head to press a tender, warm kiss to his forehead and sent a soothing flow of reassurance back to him.

The chill of the room sharply contrasted to the dreamy warmth of their nest beneath the white down comforter. Quickly, Eless found the long-sleeved shirt he had discarded last night and drew it over her petite form. Her smile curved brighter as her sensitive nose delighted in his scent that had been captured in the folds of fabric. As she perched upon the window sill, running a brush through her knee-length hair, the elfess mulled over the events of the past week or so. Their initial attraction had grown to become so much more, so quickly. And now she and Michael were connected on a level that was rare — even for the empath.

She watched him while he slept peacefully. The tension that often lurked just beneath the surface had faded as it seemed to do when they were together. While they shared dances, they shared their hearts and their pasts. Neither of them had found it easy to trust others, but somehow it came naturally. As of now, Eless fully believed that jumping into this, without knowing what lay below, was worth the risk. After all if she did not dare to open her heart, how could she expect for love to find its way inside?

When Michael began to stir from his slumber, she set the brush down and padded silently on bare feet to the little kitchenette area in his room. Her motions were deft, yet graceful as she prepared some coffee to brew and a kettle to heat for some tea. His shirt was large enough to cover her diminutive frame, but the cut of the shirt tails only enhanced the length of the lissome leg it revealed. Eless found the simple tasks rewarding, comforting even, and greeted him with a warm smile and a mug of fresh coffee when he woke.
