Elessaria hired all the street urchins that her usual delivery lads and lasses referred to her to make a very special delivery today. The empath was as fond of them as they were loyal to her, and she knew the extra coin was not just appreciated, but needed. Throughout the day the messengers spread out through RhyDin delivering the following card to all they met:

Formal invitations would follow at a later date!

Luke Boudreaux

He walked into the shop, looking around at the different colored cloth, and knew they had settled on classic black, and formal. She suggested a vest, so that's what he would have.

"Can I help you, Sir?" The short proprietor of the shop asked as he looked up from marking a gray piece of cloth for cuts.

"I need a Tuxedo, I'm getting married, soon-ish," Luke answered with a grin, that was met with the man's own excited smile.

"More than one, aye' Groomsmen and such?" Luke hadn't thought that far ahead. He didn't have a best man, or even people to stand with him. His family and friends were all in New Orleans, and he shook his head.

"Nah, just me for now," Was the answer given.

"Okay, nah big deal, you want black, aye?" Luke nodded his head and was surprised as the man pulled him toward a long row of black stock. "We have Worsted, Tweed, Tropical, Herringbone, Flannel, Khaki, Cotton, Linen, Polyester, Microfiber, Poplin, and Cashmere," Luke's head was spinning but with the mention of Cashmere he was reminded of a time long ago that he tried his first and only joint so he had to laugh, and the man's brows rose. "You've not a clue, hmm?" He asked.

"Worsted 150 if you have it," Luke said with a quick sobering. "I want this to last, in case of other formal events and I need it, you know?" The man nodded and moved down to the last stock.

"Not much call for it here, usually no one wants the suit to last past the Wedding." The man pulled his fabric tape measure from around his neck down, and started the measurements. Neck, full chest, full shoulder, right sleeve, left sleeve, and he stopped, looking at his notes. "You know your right arm is slightly longer than your left?" He asked.

"Really' Maybe cause that was my best friend from thirteen on?" Luke joked, and the man just stared then snorted, trying to hold back the laugh. "C"mon, I won't tell anyone ya laughed, promise." Again he was met with a stare.

Bicep, wrist, the man went back to work, smiling but never laughing. Waist and Stomach measured, then hips and seat. The man was fast in his work, measuring every part of Luke's body for the custom tailor made suit. "Tie and cummerbund" Or vest and tie?" He asked after he finished the inseam measurement.

"Vest and tie, something classy, ya know?" Luke answered with a nod.

"Classy' You should try the vest and cravat, with a nice stick pin."

"You get it in, I'll eyeball it, okay?" Luke said with a grin. "We done?" The man nodded. "How long will it take ya?"

"I will have the first fitting ready in two days, and you can...eyeball everything then, aye?" He stuck his hand out and Luke shook the man's hand. "I forgot myself, I am Von," He finally smiled widely. "And you, Mister?"

"Boudreux, Call me Luke." He said as he shook Von's hand.

The phone on his desk rang again, and had been all day it seemed. "Boudreux Investigations," Luke answered, with obvious annoyance and remembering yet again to take out an ad in the post for a secretary.

"Mister Boudreux, this is Von, I believe it is time for a final fitting." The guy's accent and general demeanor spoke volumes of his sexual orientation, and Luke wondered briefly on which side of the relationship the man was. "Can you come by this afternoon?" Luke flipped through the stack of folders, and looked at the calendar.

"I'll be there within the hour, podnah," He answered then hung up. He needed the escape and he knew it would give him time to sneak by with wildflowers for Eless.

Eless worried at her lower lip with even white teeth as she stood absolutely still on the pedestal in front of the mirror while the gray-haired seamstress tsked at her around the pins in her mouth. The knowledgeable woman was pulling the silk tight along the bodice. "It is a good thing Miss Koy is not here to see this, Miss Eless. You've lost too much weight." The woman was armed with sharp objects; so, a quick bite of the empath's tongue kept her retort silent. If only she had seen me a month ago and Koy would not give me near the scolding thou art.

"Aye, I know, ma'am. I am quite sorry, but it could nay be helped." She laced her tone with contrition. There was hope flooding into her eyes of blue flame as she watched the woman at her skilled work. "Thou canst fix it, right?" She had heard Koy was out of town; but, the elfess hoped her favorite designer would be back in RhyDin before the wedding. Not that Koy would ever have anyone in her employ who was not the best in their field, but Eless had typical bride jitters.

"When did you move the big date to again?" The woman deftly continued pulling the delicate fabric first one way, then the opposite to ensure it draped perfectly. She marked what she wanted in pins and on a notepad. "January." "There are 31 days in that month. January what?"

"The seventh." "We have plenty of time then. I won't make these alterations final for a little bit longer...just in case." Eless trailed a fingertip lightly along the neckline, but now she gnawed at the inside of her cheek. "Stop fussing, lass." The older woman scolded. "Did you get your shoes yet' I can't finish the hem until then."

"Nay, not yet."

"Most girls have everything picked out before they even meet their fiance." The woman teased the empath gently.

Most girls do nay have the same past history. " I am sorry. I have narrowed it down. I will bring them my next visit." "Please do, lass." "I promise."

The nervous bride-to-be could hear the hustle and bustle from the front of the busy boutique even though she was secluded in a private fitting area in the back. She tried to be patient, but her own parfumerie was very busy with the holidays as well. And before she could return to Heart Notes, Eless had to stop at the printer's shop to order new invitations. "Ma'am?" She finally dared to whisper. "Yes, lass?"

Her heart was in her eyes and she cleared her throat to try to remove the lump in it as she looked at the reflections staring back at her. "Dost thou think he will like it?"

The woman paused and looked at her with an understanding smile. "Eless, I doubt he will even see the dress at first." She placed a reassuring hand on the dainty elf's shoulder. "He will love it. I promise. Let's get you out of this and on your way, okay?"

Luke stood in the shop, staring at himself in the mirror, while Von walked around him, marking and and talking to himself more than his patron.

"Too long this sleeve, this sleeve not long enough. Too tight in chest, loose in seat..." Luke chuckled, and Von finally looked at him in the mirror, and narrowed his eyes. "You laugh at me, Mister Boudreux?" Luke just nodded his head, the smile set firmly in place. He was happy, glad that she was home with him, glad they were moving on with the wedding again, and with Christmas approaching, giddy as a child.

"What happened with October?" Von asked, and Luke sobered slightly.

"Something that won't happen again," He answered honestly. "After the Weddin", I'm goin" to be sure that we aren't bothered again." Von nodded his mostly bald head, the few wisps of hair floating with unseen wind. "Someone's got a mad on for my girl, and I don't like it."

"A mad on?" The tailor looked confused, then marked again.

"Like a hard on, only with anger," Luke explained.

"A hard on?"

Luke held up a hand and shook his head. "I ain't explainin" that one to ya." The light of understanding came on behind the other man's eyes and he fell into laughter with a deep blush.

"Only Mrs. Von knows such things from me!" He said and both men laughed.

Von pulled up a sleeve on the jacket of the tux, pinning it at the shoulder, and studying it as he walked around Luke with a critical eye. "Left arm is shorter than right, a good half inch. Most people that way, I think." He explained and Luke wondered if it had anything to do with fights, baseball, or even the night of his near fatal shooting, but remained silent while the man worked, eventually staring at himself in the mirror, and picturing the wedding, all eyes on him, until his Bride started her walk down the aisle and then it was going to be all about her, and what he was sure would be a beautiful dress.

"We done, Mister Boudreux!" Von exclaimed, snapping Luke from his thoughts. "You come back in two days, pick it all up, yes?"

"Yes, I'll be here," Luke smiled and took another look in the mirror.

"Good, final fitting to be sure, with cravat and vest, just to be sure no more alterations on any of it."

"You think she will like it?" Luke asked, watching the smaller man with a hint of nervousness.

"She already said Yes, right?" Von asked.

Luke smiled and nodded, the man had his made his point. "What seems like a long time ago."

"You been through a lot in that time?"

Luke nodded again.

"Then she already loves you, she say yes, and you be the only man in her eyes, heart and mind on the big day!" His hands went up and then out to the side to emphasize his words. "Now, take that off so I can fix!" He chuckled and walked out so Luke could change in privacy.

"Got the best tailor in town, who doubles as Doctor Phil," Luke said as he started removing the tux. "Go figure.?
