Sairol, robbed of a dragon form by the Nexus the other day, lay curled in her room as a raven-haired woman, the life in her eyes all but gone.

Earlier that night, she had been in the glen after talking with Mason. She turned, wrapping the leather jacket tightly around herself and began walking toward the town and the Inn. At that moment, Cerbarius had appeared nnext to her.

"Good evening, Sai"

Surprised to see him there, she stopped and turned to him with a soft smile

"Hi, Cerbarius...I'm going to the Inn, it's too cold out here for me"

Cerbarius smiled at her. She noticed something about that smile that disturbed her..

"Couldnt you just stay here" With me?"

Then, without any other warning, he had struck. The next thing Sairol knew, she was on the ground with the vampire atop her, gazing at her neck hungrily. She realised what was about to happen and fought him desperately, but to no avail. All she managed to do was cut his arm with her fingernail. Cerbarius dove down on her neck and bit her, feeding off her. As he did so, some of the blood from his arm made its way into her mouth as she stopped fighting, her eyes glazing over and her body growing numb.

It had been over quickly, and she had fainted from fear. Somehow, she wasnt really sure how, she had found herself in a bed in the inn, where Mokksha, Cern, and Darkmere were trying to help her best they could. They healed her wounds, but they couldnt stop the vampirism.

Now, she lay curled in her room, wrapped in that slightly too big leather jacket, sobbing silently with fear.

Naria was standing outside the room. Not hard to miss one like her own. Biting and chewing on her lip she lowered her head and rubbed on her arm. Sarah had increased guards at the den per her request. Her nerves were shot, if it wasn't Darin it was her children that took out the most greef on her.

She looked over at her child before moving to sit besides her. Arms wrapped around the young gril and she whispered," You don't deserve the hand you were delt Sai....But I'm here for you just like your father and siblings are."

She leaned into her mother's arms, still crying silently. Amid quiet sobs, she spoke to Naria.

"Cerbarius did this..."

She felt they had to know, before he did the same to Siannia or Shiloah, or came into the lair and attacked members of the Shimmerscale family.

She shivered, not used to the feeling of cold or the urge to feed.

He paced ferverously outside the lair. He had followed the scent this far, but the entrance to where she was eluded him. He needed to see her for himself. The scent wouldnt be enough to send him off the edge. This man would pay for what he'd done. Mason cursed the nexus for taking him, cursed himself for letting her get hurt. Hell he cursed just about everything he could think of as his feet were digging a six foot path in the snow from his pacing.

He held his head and looked around a bit more. His hat was back in the tent, and honestly he couldnt care less where he left it at this point. He was searching for someone ANYONE to help him get to her. He wanted more than anything else to get to her side. He believed that it was where he belonged. He cussed loudy and kicked a bit of snow away with a barefoot.

The red drake noticed the man pacing outside the lair on his way home. Curious, he swooped down and landed nearby. Red eyes regarded the man a moment, recognizing him as a vampire, before he spoke.

"I am Aris Shadowclaw. Who are you, and why are you here?"

Those pale chestnut eyes were deepening with each pacing step. He ignored the other man who was making demands for information. He hadnt tracked the girl this far to be assailed by mouth.

Eventually though he would peek out now at him and raised a brow. He didnt know anything aside from the fact that this man was Sairol's brother and that meant he would know how to get inside to her. He decided to play nicely.

"I am Mason Travis. A friend of yer sisters. Ive followed her scent thus far, but I cannot find a way to get into her. She is in trouble. And I cant stand to wait here idly. If you could help me get in there it would be apprieciated"

Aris Shadowclaw

"My sisters in trouble?"

He looked worried, and immediately shifted back to his dragon form. He vaguely wondered which of his sisters it was, but it didnt matter. He loved them all the same.

"climb on. i'll take you to the lair. what happened?"

Mason Travis

He quickly raced over to the dragon's side and climbed up. He normally would have insisted on going on his own two feet but this had to do with Sai and therefore his pride was no longer taken into consideration. He thought back now on what little he know and spoke softly.

"All I know is that I followed her scent. A human Sai scent all the way to Twighlight Island. Then when I got there it was no longer very human. She is cryin' in there now and I cant get to her."

He sighed and nodded his head. This wa all he knew at this point. He wished he could be more helpful to her brother. But he hadnt been there. He should have been tere and for some reason the nexus had to take him then.

"Sai? Cerbarius was supposed to be watching her..."

the nexus had ways of....messing with the shadowclaw family. He took flight, heading toward the lair that wasnt accesible from the ground anyway. He flew through the entrance, then landed to let Mason off. He would be faster in his human/vampire form on the ground, and he wanted to get to his sister fast.

His head spun in circles. The name rang a bell. The bloodsucker. The one she trusted. He fell silent and jumped down. He checked to make sure Aris would be able to see him. But it was becoming clear that he was becoming restles and he needed to see that she was alright. He knew she wasnt going to be great but he had to see her, to make sure she was at least taking this alright. Maybe he could sit with her. Help ease the pain. Something.

"Aris lead the way. I have to see her. And as fr your friend, the bloodsucker. I wouldnt trust him much either. His scent was allllll over the place where Sai's scent went from human to kindred."

Aris Shadowclaw

"human to kindred?"

Aris looked to Mason as he shifted to his vampiric form. Then, he recognized the man as a vampire.

"she....she's been turned"!"

with that, he rushed off down the lair toward his sister's room, forgetting about Mason alltogether.

He didnt reply to the assumptions Aris had gotten i just right and when the man took off running Mason was quick on his heels. Mas didnt look like much of an athlete but he was a Carpathian and that meant only one thing. He was sharpned in everyway possible. He wondered if Aris would take him right to Sai or if he was on a strict path of revenge. Either way he would be there at the man's flanks. Protecting Sai's brother would be as important as protecting her.

When he finally realized he was taking him to her he sighed a sigh of relief. There would be plenty of time to kill the blood traitor later. Right now he was only concerned with taking care of Sai. Making sure her transition wasnt a difficult one for her.

"He will dealt with, don't you worry. Please just understand that your father and I will still love you no matter what." She was petting her child's hair while she weapt. Shaking her head and whispering to her daughter," Being a vampire is not an awful thing. Look at me after all." A weakened smile was given to her.

She shifted for a moment with a murmur," Did I ever tell you how your father and I met?"

"No.."

She had never heard how her mother and father had met, and was a little interested about it. She wanted something to distract her from the pain of being betrayed.

There was a long period of time where Mason just sat outside of the door to Sai's room pacing. He didn't want to barge in uninvited but not being able to see her was starting to really get to him. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. This was the part where he thought back about the time they had spent on the island before the nexus had stolen him. He mapped it all out in his mind. There was Sai sitting next to a tree with Mokksha. And they were watching out over the water. He raked his brain a bit more and took a deep breath. The part that concerned him was that he knew that Cerb was waiting in the tree watching his adopted little sister and the woman he loved. He just stood there watching them when he should have been right in there with them. Making sure the bloodsucker knew that he wasn't going to let anything happen to them.

All the thinking was really starting to get to him and his head began to spin a bit. The pacing resumed and he was wandering back and forth in the hallway outside the door again. The argument was raging on in his head about whether or not to just go in. Shaking his head no a couple times he shoved both hands deep into his pockets and tried to think back to when he had made the change.

He first remembered the heat. He couldn't remember where he had been but he remembered the scorching heat. He also remembered Anne was there, that the choice of kindred was either himself or she. He had made the choice to leave her with her mortality. Offer himself instead. Maybe he loved her in some way, but it was too far back for him to remember anymore. His human memories were all nearly gone. Then there was a vivid recollection of pain. Searing from the inside out. His body went rigid and his breath came in small gasps. He couldn't see her going through this. He had to help her. So without thinking for another second he pushed the door open and rushed inside. He looked at her mother with a worrisome expression. Frantic to know if she was alright. Then he saw her. Laying there on the bed as beautiful as ever and his heart sunk. He walked in on the having a family discussion. He looked to Sai as if to apologize without words and quickly he turned to leave.

"You shouldn't be so worried about the Vampire biting at you Dear. Where do you think your mother got her night sight from?" Smiling fondly at her daughter she hugged her closely in her arms.

"I met your father before my changes took place, back when I had snow white wings and was able to control your father's.....actual demons..." She snickered as her mind wandered for a moment," Your father was under the power of our first little problem in our relationship..." She nodded.

"He had a demon controling his heart, but your mother caged that beast up right quick." Brushing a few strands from Sai's face she continued," That very night I was bitten by a vampire and was turned....Subjected to darkness and the loss of everyone that I loved. My father only believed in me then..."

"I was lost for months when finally I found your father again and wouldn't you know the Dragon was in trouble again....That same demon was fighting at the binds to get free and take your father's heart again." Smiling she whispered to her daughter," Not like I was going to let him get subjected to a demon again."

It was strange to see Naria this intent on telling a story, because she never usually did. Biting her lip she whispered," Dragons are thickle dear and your father was falling in love with me, but he still didn't see how it would work between a Vampire and a Dragon....I was getting my heart broken because he didn't want to be with me as much as I did him all because of what I was, but he did love me.." She nodded and whispered," And I did love him....I'd do anything for the dragon....And I still would. I love your father so very much."

Naria giggled softly and continued on," I made a wish....one that I was on trial for, but before the trial was done I had four eggs within my belly and waiting to be laid so they could be hatched. Your father and I were mates and my wish was granted because of our love....I changed so much for your father....I never was a dragon before after all." Nodding lightly and smiling to her daughter.

She listened quietly to her mother's story. She knew that anything her mother had to say was worth listening to, and also that her mother rarely told stories of her past like this. There were a few moments in that story that had her surprised.

Her father's heart had been controlled by a demon' But what really surprised her was that her mother wasnt born a dragon. And that a wish had changed it all.

She managed a smile then. The crying had stopped, and she sighed.

"A wish?"

She thought about that for a moment. A wish...If she could make a wish...what would it be? She thought a little more, and for some reason her thoughts went to Mason, almost wishing he was here. Before she could think any more, however, the door had opened and Mason was there.

She was surprised that he was suddenly there. She looked at him, and noticed the apologetic look as he turned away. She looked at her mother, then back at Mason

"Mason, you dont have to go.."

Shiftng she settled a bit to the side as she looked over to Mason. Smiling she kissed her daughter's forehead for a moment," A wonderous wish....I wished that I was a dragon so I could be with your father always."

Smiling to her she shifted up to her feet and smiled," I'll leave you two be. I have a dragon mate to find." She snickered as she started out towards the door and soon left Sai's room calling out," Sentoooo."

His ears twitched and he couldn't feel the pain she was feeling, his empathy towards her was strong. But without the pain in the air he could tell that she had been taken care of. He knelt next to the bed and looked at her. Her hair was still Raven, her eyes were still a piercing blue. His heart soared although it didn't beat. He brushed the remaining strands of her hair away from her face.

"You look beautiful."

Were the only words he could stammer out at this point. He sighed and laid his head on the bed next to her. His fingers slipping into her hand and tangled up with hers. He was pained by guilt but the pain was stifled by the fact that she was ok. He didn't know what else to say and didn't want to choke on any words or make a fool of himself if his eyes welled up. He just sat there silently looking at her.
