::There were times when Alexander regretted some of the things that he had done, and often contemplated what the past would have been like, had he done this or that. But as he watched his children Kirya and Drake play through the halls of his palace, he couldn't help but smile, and think that it didn't really matter.
Of course, he had caused pain, and taken much himself. However, he had tried to atone for his past mistakes, and that left him frowning, even as he watched his children frolic in happiness. He thought, of course, of the mother of his children, Lasherette. It seemed so very long ago, the two of them meeting, and against all odds, becoming mates. A dragon and a human, who would have thought?
They had seperated, had BEEN seperated for some time. He was with Winter now, and he couldn't have been happier. He had no children from her, but she treated Drake and Kirya, as well as Aurok as if they were her own children. Alex had tried to make amends with Lasherette, at least to a certain degree. He had spoken to her one last time some months back, and offered that she should take Kirya to live with her, as that was what Kirya had wanted, and Lasherette had refused.
Alex settled down upon the throne and sighed, closing that single crimson orb as he tried to relax. That was all in the past now, and not even worth thinking about. He and Lasherette were through, and he was with Winter now, so there was no hope that there would ever be reconciliation between them again. Besides, he had as of late heard that she was with another human, and he was happy for her. She deserved to be with someone after all, and he didn't want to see her unhappy. Perhaps in time she would have more children. But as far as he was concerned, with her refusal to let Kirya live with her, she would never see Drake or Kirya again, lest it was in passing.
With his thoughts calmed, he sighed again and curled upon the throne, the sounds of Kirya and Drake lulling him into an uneasy slumber.::
