*While his mate yet slumbered, Aurthur got up and crept down the hall and into the secret entrance to their hoarde, a place he knew his mate would have never thought to look for Hatching Day gifts. These he brought back to their chambers and set up with only a slight bit of difficulty.

One gift was a small book, easy enough to move, an Alchemy Primer, to teach his mate the basics and get her up to speed, especially if they were going to take classes together.

The other, however, took some effort for him to move without sound. It was a huge oil painting which he carefully set against the wall, breathing a sigh of relief as he set it down. The painting was of he and the children, all of them, down on the beach at sunset. It was a masterpiece, done in perfect detail, with the fading sunlight playing off of scales all colors of the rainbow.

Lastly, he jotted a quick note to which he placed upon the Alchemy Primer.*

"My Dearest Love, I hope you like these gifts, but I must admit the ideas for them were not all my own. I will have to thank several of our friends down at the Inn, whom helped me to think of them. I also hope you enjoy your Hatching Day to the fullest. I will see you soon, my Beloved."

*With his tasks complete, he crept over to his slumbering mate and kissed her softly on the brow before slinking quietly out of the lair. He still had one more surprise to prepare her for, after all......*

Stirring as she felt the kiss, she just missed her mate's departure. Her eyes just did not wish to open yet.

Finally after a yawn, she blinked the sleep from her eyes, and smiled.

The painting was quite a surprise, as was the book. Still she wasn't ready to leave their chamber just yet, so she would start to read. She had promised her mate that she too would join him in classes.
