Gladys had spoken with the black the night she returned from the Inn. The nursemaid making it clear the black was to rest, even if it meant not leaving the lair.

But the nursemaid never told her she couldn't walk the halls. Guard duty had been revoked. for the time being.

The black soon taking to the halls of the lair, she'd never leave the dark dragonling. Cradling Solandrien and sometimes even singing to him as they walked the halls.

Green eyes focused upon the mountains nearby. The black had stepped out onto one of the perches for a bit of fresh air. The black dragonling resting in her forelegs. Gladys still remained adamant that she rest, and not take up guard duty.

Resting was something she was starting to do more of. Singing softly to Solandrien, she would slip back into the lair, and down the halls, until she reached her chambers. Settling the black hatchling gently into the nest, soon she would coil around him, closing her eyes.

Days turned to weeks and Gladys made sure she didn't stray far. Not that she had reason to. She doted upon her hatchling son, Solandrian, even as her belly had started to swell.

By now she could just start feeling the eggs within. Though it would still be a long time yet before she'd even be ready to lay.

Until then, she would keep busy adding moss and branches to her growing nest, and tending her precious baby boy.
