The dragoness had taken to sleeping in the nest her mate had finished, the time to lay her eggs growing ever nearer, she could feel it.

It started as a dull ache, like one of the eggs shifting position in her swollen abdomen, that dull ache remained, but it wasn't quite time yet.

One wing lay stretched out, covering Matthew, she, they had wanted to move the hatchling to the nursery before she was to lay, but everytime they tried, he would cry out for his mother.

It literally tugged at her heart, the cries of the little one, and so she descided to let him stay with her, at least a little while longer, most of the hatchlings would stay in the nest after hatching anyway.

Ice blue eyes drifted to her mate, then back to the infant blanketed by her wing and she smiled softly. Soon my love.

The pain only grew worse, until finally, she knew it was time. Laboring in the midafternoon, the dragon remained with family at the lair. Shrieks and rumbles splitting the silence.

Soon she lay coiled protectively around six newly laid eggs, keeping her wing over them to help incubate her clutch.

Only in time would they hatch, and she could wait.
