Snow continued to fall as the little dragon continued to make ready should anyone need shelter. Empty rooms had been cleaned, and a few trips had been made into town.

Guests would need fresh water, and blankets, food, and amusements.

Using money from her own hoard, she selected books and blankets{The warmer the better}. Pillows and quilts, and of course bottled water.

Not wanting to forget anyone, a few toys and trinkets, and some packaged food was added to her bill.

The woman behind the counter smiled kindly as she counted out the correct amount. Though the little dragon did leave a little extra.

"Mrs Shimmerscale, you gave me too much." Gladys watched the little dragon as she tucked the smaller trinkets into her wingpouch.

That is for you. The woman seemed genuinely surprised, though she already was moving to a special jar with the tip. It wouldn't be kept for herself, but tucked into the container to be sent toward another of the orphannages.

"Before you leave.." Gladys was already moving back toward the dragonness, her hands clasped together. She motioned for the dragon to hold out her forepaw. When she did, a little bag of candy and treats was settled into place. "Take this for the little ones, There is something for you and your kin in there as well." She smiled, and dipped her horned head in thanks. You did nae have to Gladys, I could have...But the woman stopped her mid sentence. "You are doing all this for some you do not even know."

"I did not have to, but I wanted to, take it to your home and share it with those you care for. There are a few ginger cookies for you. I remembered you liked them."

Another smile and nod of thanks, and the bell chimed as she left, A cheery Goodbye and travel safely sounded behind her, and she had promised the woman just that. That she would travel safely.

The wind had picked up again and clutching the box of larger goods and the bag of sweets, the dragonness started back for the lair.

Upon the way, she would stop to pick up branches and small logs, fuel for those who would need a fire to keep warm. Any shiny stones she managed to dig out of the snow also were collected. Though more for her children than for herself.

She had almost made it home, when a sound caught her sensitive ears. A soft muffled meow. Moving that way, she stepped carefully until an old hollow log seemed to be making the sound. Peering inside, a small cat had been trapped by the snow. She could not just leave it there..

Digging into her wing pouch, she clipped off a small piece of meat, a cured sausage that was ready to eat. Setting the piece at the end of the log, she spread her wings carefully to shelter the opening from any more snow. The cat tentatively slipped foreward and eagerly ate the bit, then peeked out at the dragon.

Soon the pair arrived back at the lair.

Shielding the chilled kitty with her wings, she would carry her into one of the warmer rooms and settle her down on one of the rugs. After settling her rescue, she unpacked the goods. Food went to the larder, and blankets, books and pillows to each room. Finishing her task, she moved to check up on the hatchlings, and since they had been so good, she would give each one piece of candy from Gladys. The rest would be settled in their chambers.
