Her cold was slowly fading away, and soon the little dragoness emerged from the lair. Moving slowly down the pathway that lead from the lair to the gardens below.

She would not stop until reaching the family graveyard. Daddy's grave had long since been filled in. But he did not need it any more. She was there for two others.

Strangers that had given up their lives for her family. It had been a full year since the battle with the demon and his forces.

A year since the deaths of two proud males. A flower was settled at the base of the monument for the pair. Friends of her younger brother. Stireth and Shadowcatch had given themselves to save others.

For that she owed them much. She had returned to Alexandria with her brother, Drake, not long after as queen consort. But the tone had been grim. She tried to help the families of the pair lost in battle. She remembered their faces. How they mourned just as she had for her own mate.

All these memories lingered behind.

Mileena and Orthos too had moved on. Traveling from the lair after having received treatment for the wounds they received.

They had left long ago, returning to wherever it was they had come.

All strangers to her, but friends all the same, to her family. Perhaps someday, she would come across them again. Though next time...It would be on happier terms.

*He had been on guard duty when he had seen his mate slip from the lair. He quickly called over Tiamatus to take his position, following her quietly. To the family graveyard she had went, and when she sat in front of two of the grave, two of the most recent, he understood.

He approached her quietly, and settled next to her with the respect that was due to those who were so brave, and had already passed on.* I wish that I could have known them.....I had already passed, by that time. But I do not respect them any less for their sacrifice.....

*He curled his wing around his mate* We will see them all again soon, my beloved.....Some sooner than later, but we will see all of them again, to share our grief, and to give our thanks.

I did nae know them my love. They were friends of my younger brother. Still I think we should visit their families.

And perhaps the site where they fell. It has been some time since I was there.

The tree should still be standing, love. It was quite the battle.

I would like to see where the battle was fought, my beloved. It was where the demon Oz was defeated, after all, and where those brave warriors gave their lives, in part, to save my own. I owe it to them to see it, and to their families, to meet them, and share their grief, but also to show them that their sacrifice was not in vain.

"We shall start travelling come morning my love. Hopefully we shall get there mid day."

"I would rather nae stick around much too long though. Many fell and I would rather nae come across any upset spirits".

Harpies and cave wurms. She'd not seen any since the battle. The surviving forces having moved on. Where to did not matter, so long as they kept away from the lair and their territories.

We can stay as long as we wish, dear, in order to respect our fallen properly. *There was a cold edge to his voice, as though challenging anyone or anything to dare challenge him on such consecrated grounds.*

I wont let anything harm us while we are out there, love......I shall be ready to fly bright and early, dear.
