Aurthur Shimmerscale

Date: 2008-02-26 15:20 EST
::Aurthur rode the winds of dusk, marvelling once again in the sights, scents, and sounds of Rhydin. The waterfall that concealed their lair, the forest below with all of it's singing birds and stalking predators, even the amazing red glow of the setting sun on the horizon.

There was no particular reason that Aurthur was out on his own, and one would think that after the numerous attacks against family and kin alike, he would not leave himself nearly as vulnerable as he did, but he didn't mind. He had the strength to fight if need be, and he could hold his own until help arrived.

When the sky turned from glowing red to a deep purple, he settled down on a cliff not fair from the lair, just staring at the horizon, contemplating the events of the past few weeks. His mother's return, Snowpearl's disappearance, and the slow withering of Tiamatus. Luckily this last had been reversed in time, but had he continued to neglect himself, he surely would have passed from life into death.

He had been here in Rhydin for quite some time, and there were still many things that he did not understand, nor did he think he was meant to understand them. He knew only the love for his mate and his family, and the need to protect them at all cost. Launching himself from the cliff, he took wing once again, sailing amongst the starry night sky.

His mother, or Celeste Shimmerscale, he had not spoken to since she had arrived in their home. He had no plans to speak with her, nor did he think that he ever would. In all honesty, he didn't want her there, she did not belong there. He always took the longest routes around the enormous orphanage to ensure that he was as far away from her as possible. How could he possibly trust her again, after what she had done to him' How could he be certain that this all wasn't just a ruse to get so close to him and his mate that she could easily strike again and flee?

His heart began to ache as it always did when he was away from his beloved too long, and he turned back towards the orphanage, passing low over a field and passing through a seemingly endless cloud of fireflies, making him appear to glow an eerie yellow in the night. But rather than go inside, he decided to spend some more time out in the quiet of night down beside the lake, listening to the waves lapping softly against the shore, allowing himself to relax.::
