Karadis decided to get himself a sort of Family journal book, one of many to be sure, a way to pass on the history of his new family, The Shimmerscales to newer generations of this rather large House. The first volume was a large 300 vellum page tome with a fine brown, embossed leather cover and had gold leaf clasp to keep the book locked closed. He also had it enchanted against water damage, wear and tear and of course bugs. It would be as precious to him as a spellbook. His ink of choice, finely made squid ink, from the ink sacs of a squid found in the River Oceanus, the great river passage of the Upper Planes.

"I have been married into the Shimmerscale clan for a week or so now, and i have many concerns, as a father and grandfather, and soon to be great grandfather should be. As well as being an uncle and great uncle. Many titles to remember, be glad to bare them all. Moon, my wife and mate has on the way three hatchlings, sired by me. My first children in a very long time. But i am happy in this regard, to be a father again.

I also worry about the issues my grandchildren, Sento and Serenity, each has had their own problems, before i came along, i realize of course that they can handle them on their own, or even goto their parents, my stepdaughter Icer and her mate, Aurthur, a fine pair of dragons. But also i want Sento and Serentity to know that i and Moon, their grandparents are there for them as will. Sento reminds me of me when i was young, which was a really long time ago. I will be there for them both, if ever they have need of me. I will also be there for Sento's mate, Naria, and of course their offspring, as their children will be my great grandchildren.

And of course there is my nephew Skid, well step nephew, but nephew is much nicer to say, and less to say as well. He and his brother, Ven, who is married to my other step daughter, Storm, whom i have not met yet, though i am looking forward to it. Anyways i was starting to get sidetracked there, it seems there is bad blood between Ven and Skid, and possibly the rest of Skid's family. I know the Skid is the youngest, though how old i have no idea. And that Ven is the second oldest at 700000 years. Imagine i am Ven's stepfather in law and his step uncle in law, and i am younger. That alone is quite amusing. In anycase i hope Icer's involvement in playing the Family peacekeeper well keep Ven and Skid from tearing each other apart. I know about feuds in families, they are not peaceful or bloodless.

Skid and his mate/wife, Hina, a charming young woman, and now dragon herself, are expecting children of their own, which means more great grandchildren, who will also be my nieces and nephews. Who well be cousins and nieces and nephews to my and Moon's children. Thankfully i know something of Genelogy, otherwise i would be at a loss to try and explain all of this to future generations.

In all i am proud to be a part of this my new family. Seems i will be staying arround for a time. Of course when my and Moon's children are old enough, i am taking my beloved mate and our children to Toril for a vacation. I am sure they well enjoy the visit, as Toril is not unlike Rhydin, expect Toril has a medium yellow sun and one moon. But there are space capable ships, just not powered by science, but by magic or psionics. But i should hope they well love it all the same, first stop well be Silverymoon, i'm sure Moon well love that city.

Karadis closes and locks the Family history tome and places it in a safe place. Only he, Moon, and anyone else of the Shimmerscale clan will be able to touch it, without terrible pain being inflicted on them. An ancient and obscure Sarrukh warding spell did Karadis place on this tome. No force, no matter how powerful, in all existance, except the World Serpent or another Sarrukh, both of which must be real, and not some shapeshifter, can gaze upon these words, if they are not of the Shimmerscale clan.
