As darkness deepened, the sun setting over the ocean and bringing quiet night, Lucius knocked on the door to the room that had been given to her, when she needed a place to stay and wanted to be away from Onyx House.

The door swung open quite suddenly and she looked up at him, hair still a bit damp from a recent bath and faintly flushed, her silvery violet eyes shimmering with a hint of a feverish light. Oh and yes that aura flashing with colors not fully her own. "Luc! Hi ya. What's up?"

Lucius was not happy with that at all, the fluctuations easy for him to see, and undoubtedly to Fiona also. But, he had promised to let her try without hindrance. This night, he carried a large basket in his hand. "Good evening Tasha. Do you have a minute?" He asked quietly, while that look in her eye had a brow raising a tad. "Oh sure. Was just gonna head out in a bit." Pulling the door open further Tasha stepped back letting him inside her room and padded barefoot towards the warming hearth, but did look at that basket curiously. "What's in the basket?"

"This." Holding it, almost as though it was for the first time, and a soft chuckle as he moved near her, setting the basket down on the floor. "It's something for you."

"For me huh?" Her face lit up with a giggle as she moved to kneel down beside the container and small deft hands moving to open it. "You didn't have to get me anything Luc. You do plenty already ya know." Tasha stated with her voice colored by giggles.

As the small purple blanket was pulled back, a black nose appeared, followed by gray eyes going to green over a muzzle sure to grow long, if nothing else to fit the two canines jutting on either side.

Tasha gave a startled blink, as she had been expecting something like cookies, she reached out to touch what ever it was, fingers brushing against the nose and then giggles. "Ooh!"

As the rest was revealed, a puppy, though already as large as a near-adult cat, gray-black of fur, with a white streak running from it's nose to the back of it's neck. Large paws scrabbled to the top of the basket as it looked up at her, tongue lapping at her fingertips.

Giggling, Tasha scooped it up into her arms, cradling the bundle of fur as it were a child and then peered up at Luc, her overly bright violet eyes dancing. "OOh! He's cute! Does he have a name" Where did he come from?"

Soft laughter filed her room as Lucius sat down near the hearth. "He has no name yet. And he is a dire wolf, raised in a litter of Jerrak's wolves." He watched her and the pup, which was wiggling in her hold, snuffling at her hair.

"He is weaned, and eating fresh meat, and should grow to be a rather large one." Lucius's hand moved to his belt, an indication of height.

"Goodness! He will be almost as big as me" That news delighted Tasha though as she pressed kisses to the top of her new puppy's head. "Guess I will just have to wait for him to tell me his name then. Thank you Luc! It's the best present ever!"

Lucius chuckled softly, watching her. She was like Cie and the kitten Kar had given her, though it was growing more all the time. "He looks to already be liking you, Tash. And he'll be a loyal companion." A slight pause, as she lavished love on the pup. "I imagine it would even learn to hunt with you."

"You think so' If he gets to be that big he can protect me too." Chuckling Tasha pressed another kiss to the new wolfling's head and then hopped up and launched herself at Luc, giving him tight hugs. "Thank you Luc!"

Strong arms enveloped her, being careful of the precious burden she bore. "You're most welcome, sweet. And that smile is more than enough thanks." Lucius knew of some of her past, and secretly hoped the presence of the wolf pup would help her with her nightmares.

The puppy squirmed in her grasp and she drew back enough to bend and let it down on the floor where it instantly started to sniff about and then Tasha rose back up to hug Luc again. "I will take very good care of him."

"I know you will. And he will take care of you." Again he took her in his arms, holding her close. "As he grows you can keep him in one of the holds, for protection if it is not safe for him. We always have meat to feed him too." As Luc loved his meat, despite the occasional soft words from Myri to vary his diet.

"I love him already." More giggles threaded her words as Tasha offered another hug and watched the puppy scamper about, large paws making him clumsy.

Holding her, Lucius also looked to the pup, toppling over with one of her boots. "I'm glad sweet. I hoped you would feel that way." Yes, he did try, as Luc did love this young elf as much as any.

"I love you Luc!" Another tight wrapping of slender arms about him and then Tasha laughed, spotting the puppy with her boot. "Well gonna have to break him of that. My boots ain't for chewing."

"He's after the sweat, I believe." Chuckling softly as the new pup tried to push his head into the boot, Luc leaned over to brush a kiss to Tasha's forehead. "And I love you Tasha."

Giggling as she lifted her head and her piquant features aglow with delight and humor. "Still...he ain't gonna be able to chew on my stuff. But I am sure we can discuss that and come to some agreement. I will get him a nice juicy bone from the kitchen."

"A leather chew toy would be good also. I have bowls for food and water in the hallway for you." Lucius's hand moved to gently brush along the back of her neck, toying with the silver tresses.

Tasha pressed her head against Luc's shirt front and then chuckled impishly. "As usual you do think of everything. Yeah, a leather chewy would be good for him to. Get his teeth nice and strong."

"I only wish I did think of everything." Luc replied and chuckled softly, hugging her close. "There's a pet store in the Marketplace. I've slipped a couple of trade bars into the basket so you can get what you think you may need for your new partner." Tired of trying to burrow into her boot, the pup romped back over to where the two stood with gangly exuberance. "Oh! I will stop in there and see what they have later then." Enjoys the hugs and just returned the embrace with another giggle as the new furry friend crashes into their legs. "He will get more graceful right?" Tasha asked suddenly.

"As powerful as he'll be, grace won't be needed." Luc replied and chuckled again quietly, loving the sound of her giggles. "Though, I do think he'll stop running into things."

Looking up, the red tongue lolled as the puppy scrabbled at his leg, looking between Tasha and Luc expectantly.

"He's sooo cute though! So won't really matter if he's a clumsy as an ox." Drawing back Tasha bent down to scoop the little fellow up into her arms for another cuddle and in seconds more laughter bubbled from her as that lolling tongue licked her instantly.

Lucius laughed again and then leaned in to brush a kiss to her cheek, before the pup could catch her there first. "When he's fully grown, he'll gnaw a leg off if someone tries to hurt you." Now that was a sight to behold, the two of them together.

"I don't want him to get hurt though...and not sure I want him gnawing off some strangers leg, he might catch something." A concerned look down at the happy wolfling and then Tasha chuckled impishly. "He might end up being a total push over too. Never can tell." He would be her wolf after all, so such was the luck.

"True..." Luc responded then pressed another kiss to the crown of her silver head. "I need to let you finish getting ready to go out. And remember, I'm always here when you need or want me."

Tasha eyes shimmered as she looked up at him and then nodded quickly. "Oh I know Luc. I love that about ya to. Your almost always there for me when I need ya."

"I try to be. I did promise, after all." It was many years since that promise made, and held as strong today as then. "It's part of loving you, after all." Luc grinned and tossed a wink for the Trueblood, and a last hug to her and her pup.

Giggles as her new friend tries to lick Luc but was just a little to slow or Luc was a little to fast to get a nose nipped and peers up at him with wide slanted eyes. "Your the best Luc. Seriously."

"Thank you for saying that, sweet. And you're a special part of our life too." A genuine smile as Lucius moved to the door, and looked back as he opened it. "I walked him before bringing him here, so he should be good until tomorrow."

"Oh! Okay. Guess I should get a leash for him until he learns to stay close." Already thoughts of all she still needed for her new yet to be named friend was dancing over her thoughts. "Thanks Luc. Really. He's wonderful." Tasha stated, and then returned to pressing more kisses to the snuggling puppy's furry head.

"The gardens are fenced in, you can let him run out there. And you're welcome, sweet." Luc offered a last smile, as he backed out the door. "And be careful tonight out there." As if she needed to be reminded of that.

"Oh always Luc. Always." Chuckling as she bent to put the puppy down, peering at it. "Gonna have to ask your name. Might want to think about it, as I don't think you want to be called Snuggles or something less impressive. So you just let me know if I find one that works."

Lucius took one last look, watching her and her new companion, and then the door was softly closed.

And that is how Tasha got her new baby, an adorable dire wolf she now calls Killian as that was the only name he seemed to like.
