Milk it for all it's worth. Make sure you get there first. The apple of your eye. The rotten core inside. We are the prisoners. Things couldn't get much worse. I've had it up to here, you know your end is near.

Breaking Benjamin - Had Enough Balanced on the very edge of disaster. That's how it felt some times. Tasha thought as she sat staring silently at the fire. A small form curled up and easily missed being seen. The manor was still silent. If any were home they were moving around like tiny mice in the darkness. She should have returned to Shadow Hold, as she knew Luc would look for her later, but had sought something else. Familiarity.

In those moments of panic, it usually worked to calm her down. Panic might be stretching it really, as she hadn't actually lost the ability to think clearly, just the energy to actually take action. She felt safe here within the well-warded grounds of Onyx House. Shadow Hold was also just as safe, but in truth, she was agitated and that mood would be easily picked up on by any DeAuster that stumbled over her path. Forcing her to face questions she couldn't answer or wouldn't answer.

She was trying to be careful, not wanting to share every little detail as all her family was tied up with their own troubles. She had done well avoiding the Lawyers, staying just under their radar to keep from drawing their attentions. The Angels were another faction of trouble she was seeking to stay clear of and so far had done that well enough. Next would be the "Winterbrood". She was trying to be proactive with that. This was an area she knew well, but lately, Tasha found herself floundering.

She had finally managed to catch Talomar and discuss things with him. What she learned hadn't helped. The idea of being taken against her will and kept alive, as some kind of walking soda fountain hadn't felt to pleasant. Nibbling lightly on a short nail she re-ran part of that conversation in her mind.

A puff of air blew out, sending silvery bangs dancing and out of the way of her wide slanted eyes for a moment. "Anyway, I needed to ask you something about . . . Vampires."

A single dark eyebrow raised in surprise at the subject. "Vampires?" The subject was completely unexpected and Talomar tilted his head as if prying more from her with that look.

Tasha sat up, but small hands fluttered a bit, almost nervously. "Well yeah. See I have this little problem with some. Followed, kinda started after I was um...jumped by one, but anyway. What does it mean when.....well when they want to take someone...alive?"

Talomar sat back and lowered his head ominously but still met her eyes with his. "It can mean several things, but usually that they want to keep you for their blood supply. A 'blood doll' some would call it. If any were to consider you in such a way, it would be a very sad day for that undead."

Tasha realized she sounded silly with the way she had stated that, and she had it all carefully planned in her mind. Concise questions to get the best answers but now facing Tal, it had all flew out of her head, but at his words she blinked. "Oh. Food supply' Like. . a walking...juice box?"

By his expression it was obvious that he did not consider it a humorous subject when Tasha was involved. Replying with words pitched low and soft. "Something like that. Only you don't have to keep a juce box alive."

He nose crinkled right up with a flashing of temper lighting her eyes and darkening them to a stormy violet. "That sounds bad. I mean it wasn't fun getting jumped. I didn't like getting gnawed on either. So, to be taken alive means. . . more of that?"

"Most, if not all the vampires I've seen around here are of the "Earth" type. Weak, vulnerable but still to be avoided. Perhaps I should be protecting you. Can't let my aunt become a steady drink of some misguided vampire." He replied in words only she could hear clearly.

"That's just it. Usually I can sense them, this one I didn't. He came out of nowhere. Now the ones he has watching, I can sense them." Tasha was also keeping her words low, making it harder for others to evesdrop and while dragging bangs out of her shimmer dark eyes, she seemed to consider for a moment. "Only way I know he wants me taken alive is because I caught one and found that out."

A look of surprise moved over Talomar's dark features at her remarks. "Usually the vampires around here are not that clever. Perhaps this one is also not from Earth...or the vampire has some very unique skill."

"It's not often that one gets the drop on me. Been um, dealing with some for a while now. This one came out of nowhere on me. I didn't feel him or anything so yeah he's unique. Even Vinnie the Vile couldn't mask himself like that." Tasha stated quietly, as she leaned closer, all very serious for the moment.

He echoed that movement, wearing a look of obviously concern. "Please be careful, Tasha. Perhaps I should keep a very close eye on you."

"You can usually sense others like that right?"A pondering look as she did consider that offer, as these Winterbrood types were a total mystery to her and Tasha was having a problem tracking down the master vamp. "I just have my necro senses and I can't pick up on the one that seems to run the others."

Talomar watched Tasha as she spoke, and then nodded slowly. "There has not been one of the un-alive that I have not been able to detect immediately. I'll know this one don't fear."

Tasha's gaze lifted with a flicker of violet towards the sound of Sid's bells and she gazed at the Ancient for a moment, sensing something she wasn't sure about before peering again at Tal. "Alright. I wouldn't mind the help. I really don't want to get jumped like that again. Some say that experience is supposed to be good but hasn't ever been for me." She replied to Talomar, with a faintly disgusted twisting of her lips.

A momentary laugh rose from him at her words. "Well, you just haven't met the right one." Only to become quite serious again, a second later as he continued. "Tasha...listen to me."

A startled look at Talomar not following that comment clearly and Tasha's head tilted slightly to the side with a fluttering of angel fine silvery hair. "Met the right what? I have known a few and those that have tried to bite me, never made any effort to be nice about."

Talomar ignored that question, more intent upon her safety than the taste of her. "I just want you to be very careful. If you are going to be out and about and alone, let me know. I would not forgive myself if anything should happen to you." Leaning closer, with apparent emphasis and his voice falling in volume to a very low whisper. "And let Luc and Fiona know."

"Oh they already know. Luc fusses at me all the time for wandering around RhyDin on my own, but I hate being trapped or locked up. Luse ain't happy either but he did try and lock me up once, and knows it ain't a good idea." Tasha's instant response to Talomar's concerns. "Anyway, I am always careful. I never leave home without my blaster and monster. I also have a really good arsenal of spells. I faced that Veighn last night and nearly held my own."

Talomar smiled, loving his aunt. "You are indeed a formidable woman. I've always been quite fond of you, so you can understand my concern. I'm just glad that Luc and Luse also are aware."

I've done this on my own And I don't care what you do to me, I wouldn't hand over I wouldn't hand over what is mine I've done this for too long, To let you take it away from me, It's to late to stop me Cause I refuse I refuse.......to Die. Stone Sour - Hell & Consequences She hadn't pestered him more. Indeed she felt rather bad having quizzed him to start with, but she hadn't been able to find any others of that nature she trusted around. Plenty of the ones she didn't trust or know well, but the ones she felt comfortable talking about such things were rare finds.

So now she had that to deal with, then add in the next shocking revelation. Veighn wanted Viki. Claimed she was his, along with that annoying Gabriel trying to snatch her. The girl was even more of a magnet for trouble then Tasha was, and that was saying something. Tasha was feeling a bit helpless there. She had stood up to Veighn, and had sent him fleeing for the moment. It had cost her though. It had left her weakened, drained and while she could charge up pretty fast, channeling more often left her feeling burned out.

Only two days later, she was still on the weaker side of power. She was sure it had more to do with the spells she had used then the actual expenditure of energy. However, she had asked the question, expecting some standard reply of 100 souls or money or something impossible to find but even now, the memory sent a chill over her. "What would it take to leave Viki alone Veighn?"

"Ye supplication to me..." She had been reeling in shock at the response. It wasn't what she had been expecting as she didn't think she actually mattered to the Mage. In fact she was sure she was more of a pesky bug then even an amusement to him.

It had carried the color and tone of her Stepfather. In fact, much about that "Black Wizard" felt the same way. The same hate was there. The same hunger for power sensed in the very rage that rolled off him. Few realized that Tasha wasn't as fluff headed as she might appear, and she had faced, recognized and survived the hands of true evil, knew the cold, tearing, painful touch of it. Every night when she made the attempt to sleep, she faced those memories. Reliving them sometimes in techo-color detail, so there was no way in the Nine Planes of Hell she would make such a bargain. Not without weighing every available option first.

But, a slow realization started to waken in her. That knowledge was a weapon. She wasn't yet sure how, but her Da was always saying, "Knowledge is Power." And in that regard she had one over on the Mage. He had no idea. Thanks to Khor Tasha was one with a near unbeatable tolerance for Pain. She had magic, and she had love on her side. She wouldn't let him take Viki, not without a vicious fight and felt she would find a way without having to submit to anything unwelcome.
