Arriving just before three in the afternoon came a courier with a certified envelope addressed to one Lelah Rivka. Once signed for the messenger departs without awaiting a tip or harassment. Inside the drab manilla rests another white envelope with a green wax seal of a circle between two horizontal lines with a return address to one Cantath-Cantak L.L.C.

The letter reads:

"Lelah Rivka,

I hope you're in a good mood when this letter finds its way into your hands. The reason I send this personal letter rather than some robotic mass produced number is that I wanted to schedule a meeting with you and discuss a business proposal between my lumber division and your production studio.

Warm Regards,
Race Lutz
CEO of Cantath-Cantak Industries."

Clipped to the letter was a personal business card noting his direct office extension and cell.

Piled up on the small, circular conference table in Lelah's office were stacks and stacks of unopened mail. The nagging guilt the director felt every time she looked at it was part of the impetus in hiring a personal assistant. That and the fact that her laundry hamper was overflowing, her dry cleaner had threatened to donate all of her unclaimed clothing if she didn't come and pick it up soon, and her dog had begun leaving rather pointed protests about being home alone for so long at the foot of her bed.

At a quarter 'til six on Monday evening - after a rather hectic day of meeting with her assistant director about working out a rescheduling of Jon's scenes this week, reviewing possible scripts for the next few projects, an uncomfortable meeting with Ori to discuss FX for this week's new scenes, approving artwork for promotional posters, and helping Olivia learn the ropes of Lee's office and her life - she breezed through her new assistant's office on her way to the Government Advisory Council's first public meeting. "There's some letters and stuff on the table in there," she said. "Could you deal with it before you go home? Schedule meetings for Friday or Saturday and deal with the rest. G'night!" And with that, she headed out the door.

Goodnight? Seriously? Olivia was barely visible behind the terrifying stack of unopened correspondence on the desk. She watched Lelah leave with a vague sort of resentment, feeling decidedly conned. This wasn't what she'd been promised as a job. And her eyes felt dry - she hated her contacts, but Lelah had insisted she go to hair and make-up and get herself made over.

"Oh, sod this," she muttered as the door closed behind her boss. First thing first ... the contacts had to come out. With her glasses settled once again in that familiar place on her nose, she turned her attention to the pile of papers on the desk.

Four hours later, as the clock severely reprimanded her with the fact that it was almost ten o'clock at night, she was finished. There had been any number of interruptions from Lelah - the woman didn't seem to know what the words 'off duty' meant, constantly sending Liv text messages and emails, reminders of things she hadn't done that day that needed to be done the next. But the desk was clear.

Most of the mail had turned out to be junk, spam circulars from various companies around the city. There had been scripts sent in - those were laid carefully aside for Jenny to work out who to send them on to. Likewise, the various photos of hopefuls who wanted to shine on screen were sent across to the office frequented by Scott Campbell, the assistant director. Personal mail- well, the stuff sent in the last two weeks - was left on Lelah's desk for her to deal with in the morning.

And all the requests for meetings that had been made in the last couple of weeks was piled neatly in Liv's own in-tray, to be dealt with in the morning. The letter from Race Lutz was on the top - it would be the first meeting she scheduled for her boss. By midday tomorrow, Lelah's Friday and Saturday would be so full, she'd definitely think twice about doing this to Liv again.
