Felicity Starke

Prince Charming Seeks Cinderella.
Pedigree optional. Want large family.
Ability to dazzle a multitude a must.

Several days before the Starke Hallow's Eve Masque.

" Felix! Have you seen these invitations? Mother sent Rayoul over with them." Felicity was trying oh so hard to hide her laughter. "She's outdone herself this time."

"How bad?"

"Bad. She's actually promising to auction off all the unmarried firstborn sons of all the prominent families attending the ball. And any of the second sons who are willing too." She lost her battle with the laughter then. "You're first on the auction program. I take it you forgot to inform Mother of your grand plan?"

Felix shrugged. "I figured it would be more dramatic if Mother didn't have a chance to fuss over Sita."

"I'll send a note back with Rayoul, asking her to substitute my name with yours. I'll make up an excuse. I'm sure she'll be thrilled I'm showing an interest." She gave her twin a fond smile, and went off to write that letter.

(Pardon the delay in starting this, it's been a crazy week for me. Open to anyone who received an invitation to the ball.)

She had her invitation, delivered by Rayoul personally for the Starke ball. She was nervous. It would be almost impossible to truly hide her identity and status. If The matriarch of the Starkes discovered her true rank, her own place on the auction block would be much more awkward. It was true she intended to attend so that the Lady Starke would perhaps find her a match, as she was seemingly well known for making excellent ones.

But she worried it might be a match made for the wrong reason should her rank be let slip. She fussed over serpentine locks, oiling the miniature snakelets, her crowning glory, until they gleamed like polished obsidian. They were writhing in pleasure under her ministrations, not often being payed the heed they once had before she'd left her old life behind her. Next she tended to her own scales, which had been sadly neglected, but were not in as poor of shape as she had feared they might be. Long hours passed as she conditioned that serpentine flesh until it shone blue-black. She looked back over the beautiful outfit Felicity had created for her, from the exquisite sheer autumn-leaf patterned silk Rayoul had gifted her. The woman had even gone so far as to create a"laurel" crown of tiny gold edged maple leaves and individual maple leaf ties for the snakelets as well.

She had to admit, Felicity was gifted indeed. She eyed the chiton critically. It was beautifully made, to hang in a delicate drape from her shoulders to just below her collar bone, in a slightly loose yet attractive cut. it was gathered just below the bosom and flared gently out in a shorter version of a skirt. Full length would never do as she did not have the legs required to wear a long skirt, but the pseudo skirt was executed perfectly to accent her serpentine body. She carefully folded it and tucked it away.

It wouldn't be long now until the ball, and ultimately, the block as the twins affectionately called it. She took a deep, steadying breath and turned to her mirror. She was entertaining the thought of perhaps finding herself matched with Rayoul...

Sitalkis

Sitalkis had spent much of the last few evenings before the Hallow's Eve ball ensconced with Felicity in her room at the inn, going over fabrics, colors, the proper drape and line of clothing, all in an attempt to figure out what to wear, finally she had simply agreed that Felicity should simply dress her head to toe, since there was no way to master the complexity of fashion and taste in such a short time. She also had to absorb the basics of table etiquette and ballroom manners. She finally carved out some time to practice partnered dancing with Felix. All in all, her nerves were a mess. She was so worried that she would not impress the matriarch of the family enough and would immediately be cast out of the ball. Being so cautious and careful made her feel as if she was walking about in slippers made of glass the entire time.
