Feeling better Missy Maeve?

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-03-17 11:36 EST
Hey, I've been collecting quotables for a couple weeks now. Two are from Caitlin Keavy and the last one is from Chase. Hilarious, if I do say so myself. Feel free, everyone, to share other funny quotes!

1. "Excuse me Sir. But, do I look like the kind of girl who wants to work evenings and weekends. Hello." Caitlin to Travanix

2. "Oh please. Maeve is going to forgive you and you two are going to run off and get married and have little kangaroo babies and be all cute and I will still be here, only old and lonlier." Caitlin to Ethan

3. "Well! Maeve is cute as a button. I'm sure you'll have cute little babes that hop around and enjoy being in the outback wrestling around with animals and stuff. Little nature babies." Chase to Ethan

Little bit of information on Flashbacks.

The posts in this thread will be sporadic and out of order. Make sure to pay attention to the dates listed at the top of each post!

Everyone, meet Lola. Yes, Ethan got a cat. Unfortunately, he found out after he took her in that she's pregnant. Oh joy! If you're interested in a bit of fun play by taking one of the kittens, drop a line and let me know! 4 kittens, first come, first serve!

Well he does love Cait so if E. is nice to Cait, I'm sure Franco will love him. haha.

Cait was just like beside herself at the festival to meet Franco. I had a lot of fun playing it out.

Perchance to Dream: Ethan

I decided to keep this separate from the Flashbacks thread because this particular SL ties in with a playable set up by Jewell Ravenlock. Another partial SL that deals with this same playable that we are involved in is The Wishing Washer vs. Possible Insanity.

In Perchance to Dream: Ethan, he is 11 years old.

I hope you all enjoy!

Oh wow! A fan.. actually posting for all to see. That makes me happy. :) And hey! Feel free to crash anytime you like! We like feedback! And.. crazy, random messages, too.

Thanks for the message, Luna-mun! It means a lot to us here and I'll be sure to keep things interesting in that thread. Expect a post sometime today!

The Ant & the Grasshopper in 2008

Two Different Versions! Two Different Morals!

OLD VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

------------------------------------------

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Hillary and Barack go on national television agreeing that the plight of the grasshopper is the fault of George Bush.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Obama gets his old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from
a list of single-parent welfare recipients.

The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be very careful how you vote in 2008!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-07-18 21:53 EST
Hey, thanks for the comments. This post has been a long time in coming. I just didn't know how to write it. I should finish up the thread within a week or so now. Sorry it's taken so long!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-07-22 21:22 EST
So even though I just started posting again, I'm about to take a teeny tiny vacation. My incredible almost-fiance is graduating Military Basic Training and I haven't seen him in almost 3 months. So, I shall be in Missouri until Saturday, celebrating his achievements. Don't worry, I'll come back for a while before I move to Texas.

We've had the wedding date picked for quite a few months now, but who knows? I might actually get proposed to on Thursday. (He likes to blind-side me with surprises.) Wouldn't that be great? Let's all cross our fingers. Wish me luck! <3

I'd like to thank everyone for their concern, thoughts, and prayers. After very long and painful week, I do believe I should try to get things back to normal.

APoppySwift

I have to mention that "The Lord Giveth..." made me want to cry. I almost did, but I managed not to. Poor little Adalia. I don't think the Wishing Washer will be able to be a lot of help, but I'd like to maybe write something up where the Wishing Washer can come to visit her Number One.

In any case, very powerful writing. Some of the most heart-wrenching work I've seen in a great long time. Keep up the good (sad) work.

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-08-23 23:43 EST
Well, I'm stuck with dial-up for a couple months. ::sigh:: I'll try to be on as much as I can, but it's really difficult in the new house with the kids and all.

Ethan Kaiser

Ethan Kaiser

It's finished, y'all! Perchance to Dream: Ethan is finally finished! Feedback is welcome.. I'd like to know what folks think!

Luna Eva

Great ending to Perchance to Dream! I'm really glad you stuck with it, because that ending was really satisfying.

JewellRavenlock

Date: 2008-09-19 12:32 EST
Yay! I totally agree with Luna's player. I'm glad you stuck it out and finished it. I really enjoyed the ending, it wasn't just some bandaid over a past problem but really the first step in accepting what happened.

Overall, great thread :) Now if I could just finish mine..

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-10-25 20:16 EST
First off, Thank-you Jewell for the wonderful comment! :)

Secondly, Looks like I'm moving in 7 days. I probably won't be playing this week, but I will still be checking in. Not sure how long it'll take me to get internet down in Texas, but we'll see. I promise as soon as I can I will get back to posting/playing.

Wish me luck on getting everything ready for my move (just found out myself 2 days ago!!!) and hopefully that I don't forget anything I need!!!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-10-31 23:17 EST
Well, I leave tomorrow morning (very early) for Texas! I promise to be back in full swing once I get my internet hooked up and whatnot. Until then, happy playing!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-11-03 18:31 EST
So! I'm here in Texas and my apartment is great. No furniture yet, but... it's all good. We'll get some within a couple weeks. Bad news is that we may not be getting internet for about a month. I'll try to make it sooner! I'll check in every now and again when I can pirate internet from our neighbors and borrow my roommate's lappy.

Don't have too much fun without me!

Bradley Kaiser

Date: 2008-11-22 11:47 EST
HUUUUUGE shout-out to all those involved in 'The Lord Giveth'. To Eva, for breaking me out of my funk and reminding me that not everyone is an idiot. To Maeve, for just always being able to pick up where we leave off. I can't tell you how much that means to me. You both have helped me out and I can't thank you enough.

Readers: The SL is almost finished! Next, keep an eye out for a touching post written by none other than Maeve Malone herself. I, personally, can't wait to read it.

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-12-21 17:10 EST
I got my engagement ring! And I've got a busy next few days here... eleven more until we get married. I'll be back soon, don't worry!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2008-12-29 11:43 EST
Between the drama that is life and the drama of planning a wedding (three more days!!!), I've had little time to keep up with my writing. I've had dozens of PM's asking when I'm going to finish the SL with Adalia's death and I assure you I will get on that as soon as possible. Getting married and moving to the other side of the world just takes up a lot of my time. ;)

Thanks to all who are keeping tabs on what's going on and I'm very grateful for your loyalty to my writing. Stay tuned!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-01-27 13:18 EST
Well folks, there you have it. I finally posted. It's not the greatest ending, but I'm drawing a blank as of right now how to end it. So this'll have to do unless anyone has any better ideas!

Wedding was great, very very great. Hubby and I are extremely happy and should be expecting another addition to the family in about 6 months. :) I'm going to try and get as much writing done as possible between now and then because I'm not sure how everything will work out once the family grows.

Thanks for reading!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-01-27 13:24 EST
Also, inspiration for the conversation at the fountain between Bradley and Ethan was inspired partly by a Little House on the Prairie episode entitled, 'The Plague'.

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-02-04 09:56 EST
A very close relative, my favorite uncle, passed away early this morning. He's been suffering for many years with the disease called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease) and his lungs couldn't take it anymore. I'm told he woke up this morning and his wife was able to see him. She left the room for a few minutes and when she returned he'd passed. I don't particularly know why I'm sharing this information with people I've never met, but perhaps I just needed to talk about it. I'm on the other side of the country since getting married and I'm probably not going to be able to attend the funeral. Safe to say I'm not doing so great.

Wesley Smith was a great man who had a great mind. I respected him so much. He left behind a loving wife and three beautiful children ages 20, 18, and 16. Rest in Peace.

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-02-17 12:18 EST
Quick update on things:

Done with Texas!! Yay! And I was able to leave a little early to make it back home in time for my uncle's funeral.

My husband and I are now enjoying doing nothing. Time online is limited, seeing as how we don't care to pay for internet where we're staying right now since he'll be leaving in a month. I'm going to try to schedule some time to play... I know people have been wondering what happened to me. lol

At least you know I'm still alive!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-03-12 15:13 EST
Aaaaand now I'm all alone. :( Moved back in with my mom until I can join my hubby in Hawaii--so now I have internet! So I'm back for at least a month, maybe two while we're working things out with the stupid Army. Bittersweet for me: I'm happy to be able to write/play again, but I'd rather be on my paradise island with the husband.

I'll probably roll out some posts (or just one depending on my mood) to catch everyone up on what's been going on with the Kaiser men.

Shout out to Eva who still reads what little I write. Thanks ;)

Maeve Malone

Finally!!!

We actually got a flight and I'll be in Hawaii with my husband on Saturday. :) That also means I'll be back here to play in full swing by the start of the new month. I'm so excited and ready to start writing again.

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-04-28 20:57 EST
Hawaii reminds me of Imari, Japan. Way cool! Trying to get used to the humidity and whatnot, but I have a kitten (hubby surprised me with him!) and we're probably getting our commputer this weekend. Just a few more days until I'm back in full swing!

I'm baaaaaaaaack! We got our laptop yesterday and the hubby got it all set up this morning. Yay me! Now I just have to learn how to deal with the 6 hour time change from what I'm used to.

Keep an eye out for some new posts and many, many thanks to those players who've been so patient with me these past few months. :)

Elisabetta

Hope the beaches are treating you well!!

Ethan Kaiser

Date: 2009-06-27 18:44 EST
I really can't say enough how appreciative I am to those who are being so patient with me. I've been bouncing back and forth between saying I'm back and needing a break. Pregnancy has been ridiculous and I'm trying to ride out these last couple weeks in peace. It's nothing to say this place can certainly be full of drama, so I've been trying to stay away lately.

However! I promise to be back after I have this baby. Just a few more weeks...docs are saying I should pop her out in about 3 weeks. My plan is to be writing in my free time and have a grand "starting again" post ready by mid-august when my mother leaves from her visit.

A more personalized shout-out to Maeve, Eva, Necromesh, and Elisabetta--you guys have been great in making me not feel so guilty about everything being on hold. Thank-you so very, very much. <3

I finally had my daughter! Go me! 8 pounds 4 ounces, 20 inches long; delivered by cesarean section. And she's got quite the set of lungs---thank God she's a happy baby and doesn't use them very much at all. Now, if only I could sleep...

I live! Hahaha =]

It turns out that parenthood takes up more of my time than I thought it would! Any free time I find usually gets spent with my husband and there's really nothing left over where I can write. While it does make me feel bad to just leave everyone that I was playing with, I can't really put this hobby above spending time with my husband before he deploys. That said, I will be back when he leaves. Chances are the deployment will be for a little over a year. If things go they way I think they will, I should be settled into my new home by late spring and finally able to return to roleplaying.

Two big shout-outs to Maeve's player and to Skid's player--I miss you two dearly and can't thank you enough for the GRATUITOUS amount of patience you've shown me. That's really the mark of a good partner, the willingness to understand that real life takes the front seat.

I will be back. I know I say it often enough, I just don't want people to forget. I promise! I miss writing dearly, I miss my Kaiser men and my mind is constantly brimming with ideas (I just never have time to write them down). Stay tuned, y'all. As soon as I'm on my own again I'll be back with a vengeance!
