The castle gleamed. The fires were light. The many candles in tones of white, red, blue, green, gold and silver. The food was soon to be prepared. hired help walked the rooms, to serve drinks. Snacks of Salted Caramel Pretzel Snaps, Cinnamon Crescent Twists, and Dark Chocolate Banana Bites lay in bowls about the first floor. The dinning hall was decked out in its finest. Other tables sat around for those who came to gather at. Festive throws lay over the backs of couches and chairs. In rich tones of red, green, silver and gold.

The guards stood at the gate which was open to the path way beyond. That path led into the Valley. The Valley of Dae was decorated as well, the sacred tree decked out in lights that floated about it, shimmering in different colors. Snow covered the ground. Ice covered the near by lake.

And the mountains that surrounded the valley were covered with snow.
The city beyond the castle was filled with the scents of winter. Freshly baking bread and goodies. The sweet scents of cinnamon and deep pine.

Children had built snow men. Lights flickered in every window. There was to be a feast there in the town as ell. All would gather and eat. Food had been given out, none here would go with out. Gifts had been given days before. Walked out by the queen and her sisters.

The town was filled with as much light as the castle.

Within the stables hands waited for any horses that might need tending. A carriage awaited for any who wished for a snowy ride after dinner or before. The gardens beyond glowed with lights. The path ways were clear of ice and snow. But all around there was snow, it covered the trees and bushes, it lined the walls. People would be covered up with many layers.

But those coming to the festival inside the castle would find warmth in many places. The rooms filled with light. The soft music that played.
It was all ready.

Salice stood at the base of the stairs. The smell of baking goods and food to be made filled the castle. Salice loved this time of year. Late the night before she stayed awake with Shavyn and Shea. The had sent their gifts off to their children away.

They sat by the lounge fire and looked to the mighty tree that had been decorated by the family. It was no cut tree. It was alive. Brought up from the soil with some help of magic and placed in a huge pot. Then floated within the walls by the help of a wild wind mage.

It shimmered with gold and silver lights, with decorations that were as old as the castle walls. The three sisters shared their gifts for each other. Each a token of time.

It was Salice's most favored part of this time of year. She loved it all, but that moment with her sisters who she held so dear was the best part.
She stood there looking royal indeed. In a dress of long white. It was embellished at the top. A pair of white heels made her a bit taller than normal. Her long silver hair was up in fancy braids to show off the earrings that Shavyn had given her only the night before. She wore an elven bracelet cuff around one arm. Her winter white cloak hung ready encase she wanted to dart out in to the cold.

She would greet every guest. No matter how familiar they were to her. They w all coming here. For not even her sisters had stayed the night. The morning had been filled with helpers tending to little errands and Salice tending to the finer touches in the castle. Soon they would come. Her family. Her friends. Those of the alliance that Shea, Jade or Hera had invited.

Salice smiled looking around. Oh how her father and mother would have loved this. The castle so bright, so full of warmth and love. She waited looking to the closed door. Soon the hour would be upon them, and the party would begin.

It would never cease to amaze her how the castle looked in winter. After all her years there, after ruling there for many years. Anarya looked down upon the castle. Down for she rode in on her mighty red dragon Star Fire.

It was not an unusual sight. And there was no fear from any who saw the dragon pass over.

He landed near the garden with a mighty thump and would stay through the party. He was as kind as any creature in the realm, but the large red dragon was often given his due distance.

She slid down with ease tot he ground, her cloak of a near dusty blue silver kept her warm. She wore a dress of deep gray, that had a little touch of shimmer to it. Her shoes which were modern , matched. Her long silvern blonde hair held a soft wave and a braid along the left side.

She brought her gifts in a large basket that she toted with ease.

She walked over the cleared path ways and admired the style Salice had set to the place. Her granddaughter had an eye for it. Anarya was one of the eldest members of the alliance. She felt and knew more than most knew.

She ascended the steps and was welcomed by the guards that opened the massive doors for her. They dare not ask her to take her basket. For they knew her too well. She stepped inside, lowered her hood, the basket to the floor and was welcomed by the smile of the queen.

Anarya marveled at how much Salice looked like her father, that same hair tone, his eyes, but with the soft features of her mother. Anarya unclasp her cloak and hung it up. then turned to embrace her granddaughter.

"Grandmother." Salice smiled and then laughed. "You brought gifts?"

"Yes, I did. For all. I sent my gifts tot he children already, but you are all mine. So I brought gifts to go under your tree. I heard talk of it, how the mages rose it from the earth."

"Here let me take that, and show you." Salice went to get the basket.

"You will do no such thing. I will go in and set the presents down then roam a bit. Your hosting this party, you must greet your guests." She gave her a peck on the cheek and lifted the basket and walked off to put the presents under the tree.

Salice laughed softly watching her go. Anarya Mith-Rose GreenStone would outlive them all.

The green carriage pulled up slowly to the castle. Ember looked out at the slender of the castle. She awaited the footman to open the door and stepped down.

She wore a cloak of rich blue, under it a dress of a softer blue. Her shoes were modern and matched her look, her dark hair was up done with braids and twists. She smiled to the footman and to her driver. Then walked towards the castle.

She had ruled here as well. Loved here. She had grieved the loss of Alcander along side his daughters. But tonight there were no ghosts of the past here. Only light.

It shimmered and sparkled over the whole of the town beyond.

The guards greeted her with a bow. And when the doors were opened she was not surprised to see Salice there. It was ever the Queens duty to greet guests.

"Ember. It is good to see you." Salice hugged Her. Ember Ayana Rose had been like a mother to her when her own was gone. Ember had filled her fathers life with love, and had ruled this land while the darkness came. She had a new realm to rule now, The Rose Wood. Ember was the keeper of the wood, a care taker, nearly as powerful as Cala had been in her time.

"It smells of goodies" Ember beamed.

Salice chuckled. "There are goodies within. Anarya is here."

"I saw StarFire, and hoped your grandmother would be here." She hung her cloak and hugged Salice once more before going within.

The wind stirred the snow. It was not blustery, but a soft wind and from within it appeared. Novella Aure. Beside her was Anala Nirvelli. They had come in a mix of wind and ice. Befitting the two mages. Novella of air and Anala of water.

They both wore cloaks. Novella a deep rich black lined with frosted silver. Anala a frosted white blue that shimmered in the light cast out by the castle.
They ascended the steps and laughing went inside.

Novella and Anala could marvel at the castle. They had known it since they came here. Neither native to this land. It had welcomed them both. Novella was first to shed her cloak and hug Salice.

The air mage wore a dress of black lace over a rich champagne tone. Her shoes were modern and matched. Her two tone hair of blue and green was in a braid down her back and had little hint of winter flowers in it.

"The castle shines so brightly tonight." She smiled looking around. She could spot some of the long past down ornaments of the family. She smiled when she saw a very old one hanging up along the banister of the steps. " I recall making that one."

Salice looked to it. It was a shimmering globe, of magic make. It held floating leaves and ever lasting snow. "We were all younger then."

Novella smiled and heard the laughter within. "I think I shall go see what your grandmother had Ember in to." The air mage walked off.

Anala had hung her dark cloak. She wore a strapless dress. Its tone was a deep cream, it was embellished at the top with golden leaf like designs. Her shoes too were modern and matched the tone of the gold in the dress. Her long dark blue hair, which was more a sea toned dark blue, was pulled back low and held a deep lovely braid along the left side.

Anala hugged the queen softly. "It is good to be here." She saw her made ornament from so long ago. It hung with the others along the banister. Ones that were specially made with touches of magic.

Anala spied one of the waiters walking around with hot drinks and with a wink went to go get something warm.

Salice smiled. Four guests and counting. She knew rest of the mages would come together as well. Damek and Kegan with their lady loves. Karica and Harenya had become near members of the high mage counsel.

They each held their own powers and knowledge. They were a welcome addition to the realm.

For now Salice waited to see if she was right on who would walk in next.

The carriage that had been made over two centuries ago, honed from the ancient wood of the Mith Woods pulled up to the castle.

Within it the remained of the counsel mages sat. Damek opened the door and stepped out first. He helped out Karica and Harenya, before Kegan stepped out.

All were dressed for the cold in their cloaks. Damek's of deep green. Karica wore one of winter white with fur at the collar and bottom. Harenya wore one of a frosted gold. Kegan's was deep red befitting the fire mage.

They walked two by two to the castle steps and up.

They were welcomed by the guards who opened the doors.

The entry hall welcomed them with the scents of the season and the warmth of the castle.

Damek smiled to Salice as he held Karica off with her cloak and hung it with his own. They were a well matched pair. Damek's suit was a deep gray, he wore his classic tall black boots, and his tie befitting his earth mage nature was green.

Beside him Karica wore a white dress that was embellished with green, gold and brown embellishments that looked of leaves. It was long and flowing, her shoes were modern. The dress looked stunning against her dark green hair.

" Salice you have out done yourself." Damek smiled hugged her and bowed. Karica smiled, " Just wait till you see the tree decorated." Salice smirked at the pair. Damek had been there to help raise the mighty living tree, but he had been called away while the ladies decorated it.

"Well then, lets go see it."

"Ember and Anarya are here." Salice called after them as they went.

"You would think with how they re that they are the fiery ones." Kegan smirked at Salice. He wore a suit of rich black, his classic black boots, his tie was red befitting his fire mage nature. Beside him Harenya wore winter white, embellished to look like falling snow. Her dress was snitched at the waist with a gold belt. The colors off set her deep toned skin and hair.

Kegan hugged the queen. "Shall we be your official fire starters again?"

"You can battle it out with Hera when she gets here."

Kegan smirked at that. "I do so love a challenge."

Harenya chuckled. "Come lets get some cider, I want to see this mighty tree."

They went off to join the others.
