Welcome to a Need for Speed. The Crimson Flash is obviously inspired by the Flash of DC comics fame (but then, the second Flash was inspired by the stories of the first, so hey, that's alright then). Rambling follows.

I?ve got the first two stories here plotted out, and want to get those out of the way before Crimson interacts with any other person-controlled characters. After that, I?m not entirely sure what I want to do with him here. I?d like to get other people involved, but, again, I haven?t yet decided on the capacity.
I will most likely welcome anything that fits in the realm of comic book superhero-type stories, but I?d like most stuff to be run by me in a PM beforehand. I?m going to try to come up with more guidelines than that in the future, but that?s all I?ve got for now.
Also, and I don?t know how likely this is, but if anyone wants to play a character from any of these stories (aside from Crim, of course), that?s fine by me. That includes everyone from characters like Dean (who will be in the second story arc) to background characters. For that matter, I have no problem with someone having their existing character be one of those mentioned in passing (these could be anyone, as I won?t be giving a great deal of detail to background characters until I figure out exactly what tone I want). Please make mention of that here, though, and check before making the character, so there aren?t duplicates.

If you have any questions, comments, or random mutterings, feel free to put them here.

Crim?s costume is intended to be practical (as much so as something like this can be), although he would get a hell of a workout by lugging around as much as it would likely weight.
The main body of the suit is layered Spectra and M5 fiber cloth, making it very bullet and heat resistant. Originally, there was also an anti-friction coating over most of it, mainly the front of the costume, to help him cut through the air, but I?ve decided to remove that in favor of a friction-reducing aura like that used for most speedsters in the comics. Most of his mask (except around his mouth and nose, to allow for easier conversation and to pull his mask up when needed) and the area around his ribcage have an extra layer of Spectra or two.
The bolts over his ears are actually antennas, with tuners built into the disks they attach to. They are simple copper within a gold-colored aluminum alloy shell, with an anti-friction coating (extending away from his aura, as they do). If there would be an emergency radio system in place in Rhy?Din, he would likely have the radio receivers pick up on that; but other than that they are probably just a fancy iPod. The disks also contain earphone speakers and a mini computer, which has a navigational program and a sound-enhancing system installed. The input for the computer is a flexible keyboard built into the lower portion of his left sleeve, and is usually covered by his left glove. The display is projected onto the inside of his lenses, when used.
The lenses themselves are built into an aluminum frame, which is sandwiched between Spectra layers. They are constructed of bullet-resistant glass, under a layer of aluminum oxynitride, which is basically another form of bullet-resistant glass (as a reference, the Army is considering using aluminum oxynitride as the outer layer for windows on armored vehicles, from what I understand). They are also coated with an anti-friction material, as they extend far enough out to not be caught in his aura. It's not used much, but the display on his lenses does have a few special properties - light amplification and a distance finder are the most used, though they're rarely mentioned directly.

Any inaccuracies when it comes to the properties of these real-life materials are either a result of my doing all of my research on them over the course of one night, on Wikipedia, or a result of materials like these operating just a little differently in comic books than in reality. Probably the latter, since that makes it seem intentional.

-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------

His actual powers are relatively straightforward. With the exception of his jump through time at the beginning of Secret Files and Origins, he will not be doing very little time travel (which, while tricky to begin with, would be downright insane to deal with in a shared setting like Rhy?Din - I have no plans for any time travel after the Returns thread).
He is fast. It's possible for him to break the light barrier, but he will rarely, go much faster than he does in the last portion of Secret Files. Faster than a bullet is enough, for most things. He does not have unlimited energy for such activities, and breaking the sound barrier most definitely tires him significantly, though it doesn't quite exhaust him in short bursts. Approaching light speed exhausts him no matter how short a time he spends at such high speeds (actually passing light speed, which he's done once and will quite possibly never do again, launches him through time and space and is quite capable of removing him from existence).
His aura protects him from the effects of friction and wind resistance when he is moving at super speed (and only then). It also protects him from impacts at super speed (such as his feet hitting the ground and, in the case where he needs to, striking villains and what not). Again, this only works when he is moving at super speed. For the purposes of these powers, super speed is anything faster than he was able to go before finding the formula.
The formula, as designed by DC, seems like anyone speaking it would be given super speed. I am not using it this way, as that is a bit excessive. There is a concept in DC comics called ?hypertime? (the basics of which are explained in the first post under Secret Files, this is my take on the DC version), and one needs to be holding a picture of certain aspects of that in one?s mind when applying the formula. It doesn?t need to actually be spoken, but it works better that way because of the added focus. That's not exactly how it was originally used, but then, originally, anyone would get super speed, just by stumbling across the formula. I don't think that's the current way it's done, but since I'm not sure of that, I'm going with this.

I hadn’t planned to start Vignettes until after finishing “Live and Let Die,” but I felt like writing one and don’t think it would work as well to wait to post it. The posts under that subject will be little one-post stories, with no real continuity between them (for that matter, for the most part, they won’t even need to be considered to be in chronological order). Usually, they will have no real point but to have Crim do something, and will serve the same purpose as filler issues in between story arcs in comic books. This first story is a bit of an exception to that, since I wanted to address his not doing anything while someone was being killed in the RDI, so it’s built off of that. Occasionally, I might have other reasons to address events in the inn as they relate to Crim, particularly if he ever acts in costume there, and those will probably wind up in Vignettes, unless involved in a storyline which will stretch over many posts. Those will be the only ones to have a specific place in time, and will be posted within a day or two of the events in the inn (probably); the rest will take place “sometime” between the multi-post stories, unless otherwise noted.

So, yeah. I lied about there being no more OOC posts until after “Live and Let Die” ends. Sorry.

"Live and Let Die" is done, so here's some extra info about it.

As may have been noticed, each of the posts in that story had a different subject, all of which where song titles. I'm not sure why I decided to do that, but I did.
"Live and Let Die" is pretty straightfoward, for Dean. He was more innocent when he first came to Rhy'Din, and just wound up being beaten down, in a fashion, by the world around him.
"My Evil Plan to Save the World" is a Five Iron Frenzy song, and amuses me. I don't think it actually fits that well with Dean's plan, such as it is, but it is an evil plan, with the intention of "saving" the world.
"Just Another Day" is not meant to be the John Mellencamp song. It's the Oingo Boingo one, with lyrics like "It’s just another day / there’s murder in the air / It drags me when I walk / I smell it everywhere / I do not trust my ears / I don’t believe my eyes," which makes a lot more sense for the story than the Mellencamp song does.
"High Speed Dirt" is there because of how Dean is taken down, as it were, and because I wanted something that referenced speed.

Dean does still have his powers, though he lost all the energy he was holding on to, and I do have plans for him (assuming no one else wants him). This being a comic-book inspired folder, jails and what not will not have a great track record for holding the bad guys, for the most part. If anyone does want to play Dean, send me a PM. There's info about him that isn't in the stories yet.

So, that's that.

I incorporated the posts here about his costume and his powers. Because I wanted to.

Also, there is now a Crimson Flash fan site!
Okay, it's really just a character site in the form of a fan site. As I make more pictures of Crim, I'll try to put them up there. There may wind up being a "speculation" section, regarding the face under the mask, as well. I'm not sure yet. Other things might wind up there as well.
Anyway, it's here.

Random OOC addenda:

I’m still not sure how I want to handle guest appearances here. I’m certainly not opposed to them, but it’s not like Crim has a specific location for people to stop by or knock on his door. If anyone wants to post here, I’m fine with that, just so long as you send me a heads-up so I can be ready for it.
Also, since Crim is established now, and has been seen on an occasion or two at the RDI by other characters, I may look into possibly getting him involved in other storylines. Nothing definite on that, and only one real set of vague plans so far, but it may happen in the future. Especially once I work out more exactly how I want to work his power, with the question of technology/magic/whatever-science. I’ll contact people if he may wind up in their folders.

There may be a bit of a dry spell, for a time. There are two main reasons. The first is, I’m not sure what to do with him next. I don’t want the extended stories to all be, introduce new member of rogues gallery, explain new rogue, defeat new rogue. So, I need to actually come up with something to write about. The other is that I don’t want to do anything major until certain plans are taken care of (also known as, “No, really, I do have a reason to procrastinate.”) That’s just for extended stories. I’ll still toss in vignettes (I may make a second vignettes thread, or something like that, shortly, to make for less need for scrolling just to read one post) as I come up with little scenes and chats with Ibis if/when warranted.

As usual, comments and criticism (constructive, destructive, or otherwise) is welcome here, or in PMs, or both. Whichever.

Yeah, I don’t really like how “The Ogre, the Necklace, the Ship, and the Captain” turned out. I feel like there should be a freeze-frame with everyone laughing at the end there (preferably like the old Police Squad show, where everyone just stops moving, instead of an actual freeze frame), it seems so pat. This is apparently what happens when I don’t have a plot in mind when I start a story. I just had a version of the title in mind, and kind of ran with it. Now I know to throw together an outline, at least.
Captain O and the Anglia will be back, at some point. I do have plans for them, which didn’t really fit in this story. I wanted to do a mystery with them, with Crim trying to figure out why they were up there, what their mission was, etcetera and so forth. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pull that off when I put together an outline and, you know, actually plan something.

Feel free to delete this if it doesn't fit, but playing the Flash in Rhy'Din? That's an awesome idea. It's great to see someone stretching the freeform medium like that.

Sorry, just thought you should know that I found that really, really neat.

Minor note. I decided to discontinue the "fan site" for the Crimson Flash. Instead, I've made a more straightforward character site, which can be found at -----------------. It includes some character information on Crim and various supporting characters (though not more than can be found here, really), with links to various posts and profiles here. There's also an image gallery with most of the images that have been made so far of the Crimson Flash. More will come, eventually (also being considered is an alternate gallery, showing the original forms of the images used to make Crim's pics).

Grem

*sigh* I suppose that's alright...

Also, as a general note, I'm going to try to start writing Crim's (and Grem's, though I don't know that I'll be writing for him all that much more often than I have) stuff in first person perspective, like I used in "Of Anna and the Wolf." I'm not entirely sure how long that will last, but it's the plan I have for now.

Another note: Crim's identity may be known by all and sundry of the mundane perspective, but I'd like it to take some time to filter through the characters that might actually care. Obviously, if a character was in the Inn last night when he revealed himself, they know (as do any characters they've told). Otherwise, it takes time for information like that to spread, and there's much opportunity for distortion in the spreading. Especially without Franco to announce it. I'll likely be posting a playable sometime in the next few days regarding it filtering to the general populace.

...

On a general note, my computer self-destructed sometime last night. I was going to pick up a new one soon, so that just moved the time table up some. However, though I've got a shiny new computer and all that, I no longer have any of my files. Hard drive seems to be shot - power went out a few times last night, computer won't start, figured it was just the power supply, but moving the hard drive into the new machine does no good as BIOS doesn't recognize it. Looking into data recovery, but that takes money I won't have for a while.

Upshot is that, while most of the stories I have planned are outlined, at the least, elsewhere (mostly in emails I sent to myself from work), there was some stuff I planned on posting in the near future, which I now don't have access to. So...it might be a while before anything else goes up. Will probably come up with something in the meantime, but I can't be sure.

Grem,

Look into slaving off your hard drive and not using it as a master drive. If you're not computer savvy try googling it. Basically you hookup your old Hard Drive to the new one with the cable, and switch the jumper on the back end of the hard drive.

I've done that with drives that were believed to be "shot". Also try maybe throwing your drive in your freezer overnight before trying to get some of the data off.

I'm an IT guy, I've got a lot of little tricks. :)

Maybe hit me up with a PM and I'll see if I can help you further. Good luck!

Some Thing from outside.

I intend to get back to it at some point in the future, and perhaps explain more. For now, I'll just say that it's not an original type of Thing (although the specific one may be), and that certain elements in there were borrowed heavily from horror fiction of the 20's-30's.

Hard drive update*:
It's looking like it'll be at least a month, probably more, before I'll have funds to do the data recovery thing.
I'm mostly broke right now, and will be spending a a couple weeks abroad (Germany and England) soon - after that, I'll have redefined "broke." So it'll be a while before I can build up my bank account again.

What does that mean to you, my faithful readers? It means that I'm not (just) being lazy. I'm just busy, and what I do have ready (or nearly ready) is inaccessible.

*"update" used in only the loosest sense.

I don't know if there'll be any follow-up involving the drow woman in the most recent one shot. That post came about because I was bored and wanted to write something with Grem in costume since it's been a while, and because I've been playing Hordes of the Underdark (that led to wanting to write something, of however little substance, involving drow; and to considering how it would actually feel to be holding a "+1" sword - how one would describe it without holding the sword in and of itself making one a better swordsman).

If I don't follow up on it, and anyone's curious, the drow was exploring a section of Underdark when she was teleported to Rhy'Din, where people started bothering her - some human appearing out of nowhere in front of her was enough for her to snap a bit, hence the swipe with the sword. They'll hook her up with a woman who speaks drow to teach her common and get her acclimated to non-drow society (and/or try to find a way get her back home). She'll eventually, if she stays in Rhy'Din, become a productive if irascible member of society. If I ever do post a follow up, that all might change.

As to the bit of flesh that got shaved off of Grem's hand, it was later found and eaten by a rat. This rat was the escaped pet of a child named Miguel Gonzales, and continues to call himself, if only in his own mind, by that surname. He will gain super-speed temporarily, and become something of a hero among rodents (and bane of cats). Tragically, his super-speed will wear off in a week or two, at the worst possible moment: while he is crossing the street. Confused by his sudden lack of power and unable to react with super-rodent speed, Gonzales will meet his fate under the hoof of a Clydesdale. Fret not, his death will be swift and he will not suffer more than an instant. As no other rodents will be there when he meets his end, none will know of his demise, and he will remain a legend for generations of rats.

If I suffer temporary insanity, I may at some point in the future consider writing the brief, heroic, tragic story of the speedy rat Gonzales.

This has nothing to do with Grem/Crim. Unless, maybe, if you really dislike his costume.

...

Like super-heroes or comics in general? Enjoy merciless mockery? Curious about what really doesn't work, in regards to costume design?

I've been looking through this for the past few hours. Some of these comic book artists must do more drugs in a month than Hunter S. Thompson did during any given year.

And if that's not enough, there's always Rob Liefeld's creative anatomy. I freely admit that in most cases I probably couldn't do much better (that doesn't count for the two women given as examples for #40, or for his infamous Captain America; less detail is infinitely preferable to those train wrecks), but there's a reason I don't expect to get paid for my drawings.

Instead of spamming my own OOC thread, I'm going to edit this entry with each post of the story I feel like adding any explanation to when I make the post.

I hope I got the science (er...what science I didn't make up, anyway) right in the first part of Returns. More than that, I hope it makes sense - enough for it to be clear, in general at least, what's happening to Grem, anyway. Hard for me to tell, since I know what I'm trying to get across.

If it doesn't make sense, or the bits of real physics are blatantly wrong, feel free to let me know. I can see about fixing anything too messed up.

...

I'll leave it open to interpretation whether parts two and three actually happened or were hallucinations.

A number of the scenes referenced in part two show up in posts, either in this folder or elsewhere. If anyone wants to cross-reference, let me know - I can direct to the specific posts, wherever they are (for now, I'll just mention that anything pre-Rhy'Din, if I ever touched on it before, is in "Of the Wolf, and of Mistakes" - which I'm going to edit a bit, if only to fix some of the formatting).

Elements of part three (one theorized final fate of speedsters, along with Crandall and his blond friend) are based on things from DC Comics. Specifically, the idea of speedsters winding up in their own sort of afterlife, an extradimensional somethingorother, is inspired by this idea.

...

I don't intend to use time-travel much, because it presents enough problems for just one writer, and in this environment could only really be used in cases where it sets up a predestination paradox. Time travel's been used a lot in Flash comics, ranging from decent stories (though most involve a bit of ontological paradox - like one of the Flashes, either Barry or Wally, causing their own origin story) to complete WTF-ery (Linda's pregnancy falls under that category).

These events were alluded to in a prophetic comment not too long ago - like most prophecy, it was vague and cryptic enough to be entirely useless and relatively meaningless until after the fact.

...

I did my best, since I first mentioned Anna's suicide, to avoid there being a paradox when Grem used time travel to save her. That wouldn't necessarily have been hard (her death didn't lead to his becoming Crim, and didn't have any direct influence on his going time-tripping when he broke the light barrier), but it would have required retroactively changing Grem's attitude over the time since he found out she died. Which affected his interactions with a lot of people. So, without everyone agreeing to assume those interactions turned out at least slightly different, it really wouldn't work.

So, there was a suicide note. She jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge (leaving behind either some item that could be identified as hers, or someone up on the bridge who saw her jump). In the original timeline, she died, and the East River disposed of her body - it was never recovered. In the new one, no death so no body. Since she's leaving Earth, the end result is the same: it's assumed she died. Net result on Earth of this time travel: a few dozen liters of matter isn't there any more, and there was a minor effect on the ecology of the East River and surrounding environs (along with a pair of pants and a bit of food and drink being lost, and some Rhy'Dinian coins showing up) In all, very minor changes, though of course the butterfly effect means they could have made a big difference somewhere down the line. I'll comment on the net result on Rhy'Din when I put up the next post.

...

Yeah, there've been two Grems around for the past six months. No overlap when it comes to interaction, though - after the last full moon, about three weeks ago, it's been the Grem that had already went back in time. Before that, it was the one that hadn't broken the light barrier yet. The unnamed small town's timeline has changed, perhaps significantly, via the addition of one long-term resident and one who was there for five months.

I've decided to make a note of some of the references I make to old hard boiled detective stories. Back in "The Case of the Missing Wood Elf," Nora's bar is named after Nora Charles, from Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man.

In ?She Died in Leather,? Burton and Hattie are both named after characters from stories that showed up in Black Mask magazine, which is where a lot of writers of that kind of detective story (Hammett, Carroll John Daly, Raymond Chandler, etc.) either got their start or at least published a number of stories. Burton's name comes from "The False Burton Combs," by Daly, and Hattie's is from "Goldfish," by Chandler. Any similarity beyond their names is wholly coincidental.

For anyone who likes the style I'm trying to emulate in the stories where Grem's doing his PI stuff, I highly recommend finding an anthology of Black Mask stories. The Hard-Boiled Detective edited by Herbert Ruhm, is a good one, but it was published back in '77, so I don't know how easy it would be to find.

Because free web hosts insist on putting in-text ads on my sites, I've jumped ship from 10gbfreehost.com, like I did from 5gbfree.com before it.

I'd be fine with banner ads, but since they keep pulling that Kontera crap, I'm done with them, and on to a new one. One that currently has no ads, which baffles me as a business practice, but I'm not complaining.

For now, I've just moved Crim's site from its old location to its new one, here</ a>. I'll set about updating it, eventually.

I'm also working on a site for Grem, but that'll take me a while - knowing myself, possibly a year or two. This task would be made easier if I still had all the files from his old site, but since AOL axes its "hometown" pages and my old hard drive is still in paperweight mode, I don't.

A bit rushed, but I wanted to start posting. It'll take a couple days to get it all up, but it's taking place today, for those few for whom it matters.

Just tying off a loose end or two, even if one may come undone later, and shedding (a tiny bit of) light on someone Grem's encountered briefly a couple of times.

I don't know how often I'll be posting to that thread, but it will probably be similar to One Shots, but more related to the investigation business. Some cases might not even stay open - I'll probably use it for any one-post investigations I do in the future, unless they're a part of a larger story.

So, L put together a theme meme thing. As it required much less time at a shot than actually writing would (and...um, let me put off the three stories I'm bouncing between trying to write...hooray for procrastination), I thought I'd do it. Basically, music that fits the whatever. Her original bits of the meme are bolded.

Note: There is absolutely no limitation to what types of music you can pick to be suitable for your character! Rock, Roll,
Rap, R&B, Classical, Bulgarian Throat Singing, Video Game, Anime, Yanni, whatever you want!

1)Home is where the heart is! What music would suit your character's homeland/town/village/world/etc.?

I'm kind of drawing a blank on this one. I'm going to go with Third Rock from the Sun, by Joe Diffie - Grem's from Earth, so there's that, and the craziness of the song sounds like a boring day in Rhy'Din, which is what he considers to be home now. I guess. And yes, that's a ridiculous video (lookit the mullet!).

2)Your character stars in their very own anime! (Or cartoon, for you haters) What's the opening theme?

Kind of drawing a blank here, too, so I'm going to go with a song which I more or less thought of as Grem's theme early on - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. I'm vacillating between which version I'd pick... Of course there's always the Animals' cover, then there's Cat Stevens, Cyndi Lauper, and the original version by Nina Simone. I wouldn't use that last one for Grem's theme, but it deserves being noted.

3)Your character is up to no good! What music might suit them when they're plotting or making mischief?

Grem doesn't really do much plotting or mischief-making. If he did, though, the Horrible End Theme seems like it would make good plotting music. Thus begins my recommendations - if you haven't seen Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, you should.

4)Your character is trying to charm the pants(or skirts!) off the apple of their eye. What music would be suitable for this?

Grem doesn't seduce women. Women seduce Grem. See the end of Jewell's comment about him over on the wiki for corroboration.
...okay, fine. Take Off Your Shirt, by Vermillion Lies...well, not really, but their music is ridiculous and awesome and you should listen to it.
I'll go with Por una Cabeza, by Carlos Gardel. I don't...um...actually remember whether or not he knows how to tango (I've got a list of the dances he knows, somewhere, but I'm not sure where, exactly), but he could learn.

5)Your character is stricken with divine inspiration! What music suits them having an inspired moment/epiphany?

I want to use Icarus, by Jason Webley, but that's mainly because I've been listening to it (and another song of his) a lot while working, slowly, on an upcoming Grem (and Freddie, and Talk, and cultists, and Gnarshl, and...) story which may not actually be ready for posting for...pfft, at this point, it could be more than a year. Also, his music is quite good, and I'm using this partially as a music rec. post.
Everybody's Gotta Live, by Love, done here via karaoke verit? by Amanda Palmer (yeah, go ahead and look at her music, too, while you're looking at Mr. Webley's). It's an inspiring song.

6)Your character is sexy!(?) Let's hear their sexy music!

Ahem. ...wait, no, that's not it...
I got nothin'. See the tango from #4, I guess.

7)Your character has other characters that are important to them! What music is fitting for their favorite person?

For Kazzy, this is the obvious choice (man, 80's music videos were awesome), but I think I'll go with You May Be Right, by Billie Joel.

8)Your character just pissed someone off! What music would be fitting for their battle/fight/duel?

Metropolis, performed by the Pogues. I'm not sure why, but I like that for fight music.
Alternately, and especially if Grem ever gets into an extended fight with another speedster, YYZ, by Rush (as a bonus, here is a Japanese band covering it with a twelve-year-old on the skins, just 'cause that kid's awesome).

9)Your character has died! T.T Or maybe just come close to it... What music would be suitable for this?

If he's dead, Dan Auerbach's When the Night Comes. If he just came close, Not Dead Yet, by Styx, though not so much with the first verse (not many video options here).

10)Your character is unique! Pick something unique to them, be it a situation or location or whatever comes to mind, and come up with an appropriate theme!

The Ballad of Barry Allen, by Jim's Big Ego, obviously.

I don't...um...actually remember whether or not he knows how to tango (I've got a list of the dances he knows, somewhere, but I'm not sure where, exactly), but he could learn.

I *want* to say that he does know, on account of those dancing lessons he and Lydia were taking for a while. I know for certain fact they would know waltzing as that was the main thing, but I seem to recall something about them moving on to tango at some point... My memory isn't exactly the best though, so take that as you will.

If that's the case we likely discussed it in the RDI chat, as opposed to AIM. I checked my history and searched for "tango" but that only came up every time you said "Whiskey.Tango.Foxtrot". :P

Also: I really liked some of these choices! I'm rather partial to what you picked for his fight and unique theme. I had forgotten about the Ballad of Barry Allen completely. It was nice to be reminded of it again.

What a fun idea, L! I saw your list on your board but I figured since there's already Kazzy songs here I'd crash this OOC space. But everyone has such fun choices. And I love Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Here are some Kazzy choices (notably going to be either weird or a little explicit in some cases because...um, she can be peculiar). I also have a problem of picking just one of anything so sorry there's more than 1 song for an answer -- you should see the problems I have picking out ice cream at Baskin Robbins. ;-)

Note: There is absolutely no limitation to what types of music you can pick to be suitable for your character! Rock, Roll, Rap, R&B, Classical, Bulgarian Throat Singing, Video Game, Anime, Yanni, whatever you want!

1)Home is where the heart is! What music would suit your character's homeland/town/village/world/etc.?

Kazzy's RhyDin born so that might be a mix of Beat City by the Raveonettes, Cretin Hop by the Ramones and the theme song for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

2)Your character stars in their very own anime! (Or cartoon, for you haters) What's the opening theme?

For some reason I really enjoy this video. My other possible theme song choices would be:

For her inflated ego - Because I'm Awesome by The Dollyrots.

For her lacking bank account - Kill the Poor by Dead Kennedys

For her lacking internal filter - Express Yourself by N.W.A.

3)Your character is up to no good! What music might suit them when they're plotting or making mischief?

She's pretty much always plotting or making mischief. It often doesn't end too well for those around her so I'd go with Danger! High Voltage by Electric Six or Terminal Velocity from Boondock Saints.

This is kind of related but since so much of Kazzy's time is occupied by working and picking up odd jobs I hear Hi-Tek's Handling My Bizness.

4)Your character is trying to charm the pants(or skirts!) off the apple of their eye. What music would be suitable for this?

Kazzy's suuuuuuuuuuuuuper subtle. NOT.

I Wanna Sex You Up by Color Me Badd or Anya Marina's cover of T.I.'s Whatever You Like

5)Your character is stricken with divine inspiration! What music suits them having an inspired moment/epiphany?

This is Kazzy having an epiphany. Just replace "Kazzy" with "Keanu Reeves".

There's also Where is My Mind by the Pixies too.

6)Your character is sexy!(?) Let's hear their sexy music!

Kazzy's more perverted than sexy so here's a made up word for a dirty sounding sexual act Jique by Brazilian Girls and Ice Cream by New Young Pony Club

7)Your character has other characters that are important to them! What music is fitting for their favorite person?

Well since this might get a groan and isn't the right geographical locale, if Kazzy knew this song she'd sing it about Grem.

There's also M+M's by Blink 182 (yes I liked old Blink 182 so sue me), My Love by The Bird and the Bee and really, who doesn't love MC Skat Kat? (I'm leaning towards Grem being Paula).

Of course, some days Grem might want to sing this.

8)Your character just pissed someone off! What music would be fitting for their battle/fight/duel?

Kazzy's more likely to use words over her fists and when that fails, skate away as quickly as possible because she's a spaz. Although I guess she might try to Sweep the Leg.

9)Your character has died! T.T Or maybe just come close to it... What music would be suitable for this?

You Have Killed Me by Morrissey

Dead! by My Chemical Romance

A better Warren Zevon choice and of course

Soon You'll Come Home from All Dogs Go To Heaven

10)Your character is unique! Pick something unique to them, be it a situation or location or whatever comes to mind, and come up with an appropriate theme!

Flash from Kazzy's high school past

and

not so much unique but probably surprising that not only does Kazzy a) read but she b) secretly loves Shakespeare and c) played Mercutio in her prep school's performance of Romeo and Juliet. That deserves a little Young Hearts Run Free.

Don't have time to look at all of those right now, but I wanted to tell a little story about one of them.

A while back, Grem was in the process of explaining to someone (Issy, I think, but I could be wrong) that he was a werewolf. It wasn't going that great, due to her not quite getting it, and also what she was getting freaking her out a bit.
At which point Toby, at the piano, decided to play Werewolves of London. Both to help along the explanation and because it was funny, I assume. And got a massive bitchface from Grem for his troubles.

So, yeah. I like it. Grem, not so much.

Now that "Carlotta" is done, I'll try to stop it with the theme naming. No promises, though.
