The flyers were up everywhere, just as Lydia had said they would be. They advertised a sale at A Stitch in Time, with winter clothing 25% off. Considering the state of Kacey's winter wardrobe (non-existent), she?d decided it was worth stopping in, at least. With her jacket ruined, she would have to find a replacement or make do without ? and doing without meant picking up a few sweaters without holes worn through.

Kacey hated shopping. Hated trying on clothes, hated looking at herself in a mirror ? especially that. And between that loathing and the thin state of her wallet, she didn?t expect to be in the store long. In and out, just long enough to pick up the cheapest sweaters that would fit and maybe a scarf and gloves if they were to be had.

So she entered the store warily, hands in her pockets to keep them warm, and paused just inside the door, looking for the racks or shelves with sweaters.

Bright colors caught her eye first, their cheery aspect vaguely unsettling, but Kacey drifted on deeper into the store. As she went, she pulled one hand from her pocket, the bruises and scrapes on the back finally almost healed. Her fingers ran over the heavy wool of knit sweaters lightly, callouses on her hands keeping her from really feeling the textures.

One price tag was flipped and examined, and then another, with a faint wince. She should have expected as much when Lydia had quoted a price for a jacket. Still, the quality was much better than she would be able to get at the second-hand vendors. The fabric was thick and sturdy, and should be warm. Important, that, with her only jacket still crumpled into a blood-stained pile at the foot of her bed.

With the sale on, she could probably afford four or five sweaters, instead of two or three. Maybe a scarf. If she held off on drinking for a few days, even a pair of gloves ? that thought was discarded almost as it formed. She paused to run her hand back through her hair, knocking free a few scattered bits of sawdust.

Her voice sounded louder than she intended in the quiet of the shop. ?Hello? Is there someone here??

Upstairs, Lydia was heading back to the workroom to work on a bit of clothing when she had heard Kacey's call from downstairs. A little muffled, but it let her know someone was down there at least. Turning, the green haired elf meandered about halfway down the stairs, glancing about. The room was indeed empty, save Kacey. Ivy could have been on break, and rightfully so. If she had to take a guess as to Erin's whereabouts, she was probably upstairs in her office, managing entirely too much paperwork. That left Carley, who was supposed to be downstairs working the store. But she was nowhere in sight.

Sighing faintly, Lydia murmured a bit beneath her breath before offering Kacey a smile. "Hey there!" It was cheerfully called out as she started moving on down the rest of the stairs. "Sorry no one was down here, usually someone always is..." That last part was beneath her breath. Moving across the room, she drew closer to Kacey, tilting her head faintly. "It's really great to see you here Kacey. Is there anything I can help you with?"

The sudden answer after the stillness startled Kacey, and it wasn?t until Lydia reached her that her heart slowed from its racing and she could muster up a smile. ?Ah, yeah, actually there is. I need a few sweaters and a scarf. Nothing too bright, and a couple of the sweaters really large, since I?ll be layering them. But I?m a little baffled by the way you have things organized??

With a likewise tilted head, Kacey waved one hand around the room, indicating the racks and shelves with a smile. ?I mean, I don?t know if these are by size, or style, or just because they looked good together. So I was hoping for some help narrowing down options, if you have a few minutes.? She glanced to one side, slightly uncomfortable for a moment, then continued, ?and? well, cheaper is better. Even if it doesn?t look as good.? With a slight, self-deprecating smile, she looked back at Lydia hopefully.

Lydia looked about when Kacey had gestured then smiled a little awkwardly. "I do suppose our organizational methods could use some work... we're hoping to work on that after the expansion. As is we sort of have a limited space for everything." She pondered Kacey's words over a moment before nodding to herself, then meandered to one of the shelves, pulling over one of the step stools Glenn had crafted to accompany it. "There's probably a few things in here that'd work for you."

Stepping on the stool, she stretched a little to pull down a few sweaters and started sifting through them, hanging particularly bright ones or ones that wouldn't quite fit Kacey back up. Finally a dark blue one was pulled down and held out for her. "This one is pretty big, so it might work for layering. I can look for another in this size if you want, as well as some others in your actual size. Did you have any preference in color, besides them not being bright?"

She tilted her head curiously at Kacey, then pointed to another shelf at the other side of the store. "I think most of the scarves and other accessories are kept over there. Mittens too, just in time for winter. If you wanted to look around over there, feel free to do so." Another somewhat awkward smile. Ivy was much better at this than she.
