Enter Cabana Boy.

Yes, unfortunately, Renee' had gotten a hold of Sebastian again and dressed him in bermuda shorts. It wasn't exactly a bad look for the guy, just... out of the norm. It was Friday, his day off, and with the news that Erin had told him yesterday, Sebastian decided to head over to The Stitch to check up on Lydia and Ivy.

The front door jingled as Sebastian entered, signaling his arrival to any staff that may be present. It suddenly hit him that he would be seeing Lydia... so showing up shirtless and looking, well, kind of hot made him slightly embarassed. Oh well. Plucking his sunglasses from their perch, he slid them up to settle on his head to get a better look around.

Where was everyone? "Hellooo~"

Carley

With Erin and Lydia upstairs at work and Ivy still away on 'vay-cay' it was bouncy blue and blonde manning the counter. Probably a mistake, as she had already chased off several customers with her honestly, but for gosh's sakes, she didn't think hobbits or dwarves or gnomes looked good in lime green or pink or any bright color for that matter. They were blubbery and stubbly, and black was slimming, so she was just trying to be helpful, really!

So with everyone gone except Carley, it was understandable she was the only one in the store. She wasn't really working either. Instead, she was going through a package her cousin Forcythia had recently sent to her, the contents spilled across the counter. Shiny gems and beads and crystals, all good for making jewelry with, not to mention a couple pretty pins in there. This was something she planned to share with Erin, maybe get her to show her how she made some of her jewelry.

Beret had been cast aside and was sitting on the counter with everything else, since she had put a pretty sapphiric butterfly hair pin in her hair. Quite flattering on her really, but it was rare to see her without the beret. A quartz gem was picked up and held in the light as she inspected it, slurping away at the blueberry drink in her hand, courtesy of Eddie.

When the bell went to jingling the gem was set down and bright blues shot towards the door, and a grin appeared at the sight of Cabana Boy. "Basty! Did you come to get some clothes?" She looked him over, briefly. "We have bathrooms upstairs so you could have worn some clothes here and changed up there ya know." Cheery, always cheery.

He ducked around a display case to see who was behind the counter. Though, he should have guessed, what with being called 'Basty' again. He fought not to make a face, instead presenting the pretty and obnoxious (or maybe it's just pretty obnoxious?) elf behind the counter with a smile.

"Woman," he started, pausing briefly to ponder a conversation he'd had with Piper the night before. Wow, he does say that alot. Starting again, "Carley love, any particular reason you call me that?" He chuckled and met her at the counter, leaning his muscular frame so that his elbows rested on the glass display.

"Clothes? What are yo-" he paused and glanced down, remembering once more that he was shirtless. He gave a boyish chuckle and flexed just a little. Ahh, he's 22, who'd blame him?? "Nah, I ain't here for clothes, Carley. I'm actually going to the beach with some of my crew." He smiled at her. "Where's Lydia?"

She can be pretty obnoxious, but she had her good qualities too! They were just a little hard to find in there sometimes... "It's just a nickname. I give everyone a nickname!" She grinned a little too widely there at the simple explanation. "Fire, Eri, Vee Vee... just not Grem, because Fire threatened to tell everyone my real name when I referred to him as 'Gremmy'." Nose crinkled up at the thought but she shook it off.

Drink set aside, she reached up to fiddle with the hair pin, aiming to free it from her blonde locks. At the flex, bright blues lowered a touch. She was.. well, it doesn't matter how old she is exactly, the point is, she's young! She could be blatant at checking out guys sometimes. "Beach sounds fun! I never go though, I always go to the rivers and lakes in the woods. To fish most of the time, but I think I might stop that for a while. My appetite and desire for fish has kinda died since the incident at the docks." Another nose crinkle, and the pin was pulled out and set down on the counter, exchanged for the beret, which was promptly perched upon her head. Right where it belonged.

"Fire's upstairs in the work room." Carley tilted her head curiously, rolling on the balls of her feet. "Do you want me to go get her for you?"

Sebastian laughed. "Your real name, huh?" he thought about that for a minute with a wicked smile on his face. "I tell you what. Promise never to call me 'Basty' again and I'll promise never to ask Lydia what your real name is, deal?"

"You never go to the beach?" To a seaman like Sebastian, this news was startling. Who didn't go to the beach?! Bastian loved goofing around with his mates in the surf and just having an all around fun time. The ocean was like his lover... he'd always go back to it no matter what and would never want to be parted. Such is the curse of a sailor. "You should come sometime."

When Carley brought up the 'incident' at the docks, he assumed she meant the fishy problem. He blanched and shook his head. "Oh god, I know! Those fish really made the place stink up... but most of it's taken care of now. You should come with us to the beach sometime this summer. We go alot."

He reached for the pin she had set down, fingering it gently. It was pretty, even more-so when it was in her hair - he wouldn't deny it. "What?" He looked up, realizing she was talking to him. "Oh, yeah...well, I mean, unless she's busy. I was just stopping by to check up on her. I still sort of brotherly towards her, ya know?"

Carley

Carley's bright blues widened a little at that 'deal'. She thought it over a moment then nodded, just a little hesitantly, though there was nothing hesitant about her tone. "Deal! It'll just be Bastian from now on." She paused, then pursed her lips curiously. "Or is that Sebastian? Eri calls you Bastian and Lydia calls you Sebastian so I'm not at all sure which you prefer."

She rolled on the balls of her feet another moment as he spoke of the beach, finally coming still as she grinned up at him. "It does sound fun! I love water. I've only been on a ship once but I still remember it. The view was great, I just got a little sea sick, but I was really young at the time so that was probably why. I've never had reason to get on a ship again though, because my home is here and the only other place I go is Cadentia to see Cythia and that's south in the desert and you can't really get on a ship to get there." She rambled, yes. Jumping from topic to topic. This was not uncommon with Carley. And just as quickly, she jumped back on track.

"Really? I feel that way sometimes too about her. Not brotherly, but sisterly, but I don't think she feels the same." She leaned a touch closer, voice lowering as if she were sharing a secret. "I'm kinda jealous of her and Erin sometimes, because they have the sister thing going on, but Cythia's like a sister so I have that at least." A pause then, as realization dawns, then she leans closer, bright blues narrowed a touch in suspicion. "Why are you checking up on her?"

Sebastian

"Sebastian preferably." He dipped his head in thanks, finally... someone else who would call him by his given name. "I don't mind Bastian so much, but I like my actual name." Another charming smile...

...that stayed present on his face all throughout her rambling. He wasn't bothered by it. He liked people who talked alot, mainly because he didn't. It meant he didn't have to contribute to the conversation unless it was necessary. You can learn alot about someone when they talk alot. Things tend to be shared that weren't meant to be. He now knew what he wanted to do with Carley, and while the thought startled him a bit, it wasn't unwarranted. He was going to take her out on his boat. Now.. how to ask her. Better yet, when?

He leaned forward as she did, head tilting slightly to better hear Carley. "I'm sure she cares about ya, Carley. Don't let it bother you, aye?" He tried to make her feel better with a smile, but it sort of faultered as she called him out on his visit. He wasn't sure if it was a secret still.

He leaned even closer still, never one to worry about being in someone's personal space, Sebastian was just a few inches from her face. Smirking, he began to whisper as if sharing some conspiritorial secret. "I just care about her, that's all."

Sebastian was studied for a good long moment before she leaned back, rolling on the balls of her feet once more. It was a secret, sorta kinda, but she knew it, she just wasn't sure if he knew it or not now. And if he didn't she couldn't ask without letting him know, but how silly would it be for him to know know that she knew that he.. wait.. huh?

Bright blues crossed faintly somewhere in her thought process, an indication she was just thinking way too much. So she tossed on the grin again. "That's good, just don't care about her too much!" She was teasing, really! Feather from beret fell in front of her face so she swatted at it like that was going to help. "Lots care about Fire, and Fire cares about lots..." A brief pause, pondering. "I didn't really have many friends, aside from Eddie and Mille before meeting her in the market." Grin widened so big at the memory her eyes formed crescent-like shapes. "We did business a lot before she got the store because she would buy fabrics and supplies from me to work on things to sell in the market. I was really surprised when she asked me to work with her and Eri though when the store went up. But really happy too, since that means I still get to see her a lot and meet all sorts of people."

Another bat at the feather and palms were placed to the counter as she stood on tippy toes, leaning forward and tilting her head back to face Sebastian better. She was a short thing after all. Bright blues met stormy blues and head canted curiously a moment before she blinked, another realization dawning on her. "Oh! I forgot, you were here to see Fire." Grinning, she dropped back down to her feet and started moving down the counter.

The intense study of his being had Sebastian wondering the same exact thing. The fact that she was so interested made him wonder if Carley knew the secret, but did she know that he knew and if she did, should he say anything? Wait... let's not go down this road again. We alll get the picture.

The girl really did talk to much for her own good... Sebastian didn't even know how to respond when he wanted to. He could say something cheesy like, 'I'm your friend' or some other such nonsense, but that sounded too, well, cheesy. Instead he smiled, nodding occasionally like every good man learns to do when he's around a pretty girl.

Sebastian met her gaze as Carley peered up at him, leaning forward just a smidge. She was an interesting little thing and he would be lying if he said he wasn't attracted to her right now. A few blinks as she pulled away, kicking himself for not saying something; anything!

The clocks a-ticking, Bastian ole' boy! "Carley, wait!" He took a few steps after her so that he was across from the elf once more. "Don't bother her if she's working. It's obvious that she's ok and... I guess you could tell her later that I stopped by." Silence. Why was this so hard for him? It was just a girl.

"Wanna come sailing with me tomorrow?" The words were rushed. As soon as he said it, he regretted it. Not because he didn't want to hang out with her, only because it sounded so cliche. Well, now all he could do is wait. If only women knew how much men waited on them.

Close to the end of the counter, Carley stopped when Sebastian called for her and spun on her heel, brows raised curiously as she peered at him. "Oh, okay! She wouldn't mind probably but I'll let her be just in case. I'll definitely tell you dropped by though! I'm sure that'd make her happy!" A blink, and she shook her head faintly. She shouldn't be saying things like that. Seemed too suspicious. Ah well.

Then she bounced a little on the balls of her feet at the question, grinning of course. When was she not? "Sailing sounds fun!" Carley interpreted this as him inviting her just as a friend. Girl didn't think he had any sort of interest outside of that, given that Lydia was the main subject for most of their conversation. She had other suspicions actually... she just couldn't be sure of them. "I can go! I didn't have plans for tomorrow. You mean sailing on a ship, right? A big one? Should I meet you at your workplace or the beach or a specific place at the docks?" Nose crinkle. "There won't be any fishing will there?"

She canted her head as she watched Sebastian, causing feather to fall in front of her face and between her eyes. Silly girl...

Sebastian was surprised. She'd said yes! With this lovely bit of information, his grin was quickly rivaling hers for size. Nothing like the prospect of spending the day with a pretty girl, eh?

"Yes, Carley," he chuckled. "On a ship, but it's not a big one like you probably see down at the docks. It's kind of smaller... it's my own special boat." A gift, actually, from Dave when he handed the business over to Sebastian. "And you can meet me at work. That'll be great, actually." Then he laughed, shaking his head. This girl was a real piece of work, but he couldn't blame her really about the fish. "No, no fishing. I promise."

Carley was right... it was just a friendly invite, just... with intentions to see what else there could be. "Wicked. It's a date, then." He tapped the counter for emphasis and took a step backwards. He was reaching for his sunglasses, his other hand scratching lightly at his abdomen. "Anytime around 10 o'clock is fine."

Another twirl and she moved back down the counter, reclaiming her spot there. Such a diligent worker, she was... or not. Fraternizing during business hours, tsk tsk. Ivy would have been the one to say something, not Lydia or Erin, but Ivy was still away. She'd have to visit her soon...

"Special boat?" Carley seemed excited about that, interested. "Wow, I can't believe you own your very own boat, and manage a big business the way you do, and you're responsible for so much. It's gotta be hard, having to keep up with so much." God knows she wasn't so great with keeping up with much. "I'll meet you at work then! I promise I'll make it this time too!" Giggling faintly, as she hadn't made it last time she ventured out.

Even when he called it a date, the true intention was lost. She didn't even get that it was to find out it was something more. But guys being interested in her was a recent development. Look at the girls she was always with! Lydia, so beautiful and unique, she almost always got a second look from the customers, even if she denied it. Then there was Erin. Dynamic, popular, exciting, inviting. A socialite, perfect at drawing people in, perfect at managing them. Even Ivy. Carley didn't see her as plain, plus? She was tall! At least compared to the other three working the Stitch. Not to mention Ivy had a wonderful personality. Carley was fully aware what people thought of her at times, she wasn't always daft...

"Ten's perfect! I'll see you then Bas-" An abrupt pause, cheeks puffed out faintly, and then she corrected herself. "Sebastian!" A big grin to that. It'd take getting used to, but she could call him by his actual name.

Because God forbid he should ever find out her real name and use it.
