Onyxia

The first thing she runs into when she enters into the Inn is an apparent crazy woman bothering two hatchling dragons. That was enough to put her in a bad mood. She didn?t accept that the Magistrates sanctioned the woman either. Then there was the man acting as if he was a friend to the dragons. It was a welcome relief for Lupinius to wake up.

Lupinius stirs again, hearing a familiar voice pull him from the darker memories of his past and into the world of consciousness. He stands and stretches again in the way that large members of the canine family have and looks around.

Onyxia moved to the hearth and settled on the couch. Lupinius? head tilts at Onyxia as the light wraps itself around him and shifts him back to his more human form, ?Well, now...what's happened to make you cross, m'lady?"

She tilts her head at the carrier, "The application of laws that don't exist."

Lupinius? eyes scan back and forth quickly as he consults his memory for a moment - even asleep; his mind is constantly recording what goes on around him, mostly for later processing. "...Oh." He looks over at the carrier and Alicia. "Yeah, I know about her... a friend of mine said something about her once to me."

She shook her head, and looked over to Lupinius, "And how are you this day, Gabriel?"

He stretches again, this time much more human-like. ?Oh... you know... just about the same. Nothing interesting happened last night, but who knows what tonight will bring?"

She tilted her head to the unfolding drama, "It has begun." She was looking to the one bothering the dragons now.

Lupinius looks that way, eyes locked on the situation. He's met Icer once, when Brian Ravenlock had held a war council of sorts - well, met in passing. Anyway, but any ally of Lord Ravenlock is a friend of his, and he can, thanks to his empathic abilities, feel the treachery within the man. "...Forgive me, but I may have to become a part of this drama..." His eyes widen a moment later as Icer returns to her normal size again. "...Or maybe not."

She shook her head, "I have his scent." She frowned as the man grabbed

"...Lovely." Lupinius reaches a hand up to the amulet at his neck, which glows for a moment with its own inner, violet light* "And I have help on the way. Any idea where he might have gone?"

"Where else can you take a dragon around these parts without having too many bystanders?"

"...Good point. Shall we?" He touches the amulet again, and it flickers once more as he stands.

She stands flexing those hands, "Aye." She took a moment to offer a bit of common sense advice to the woman from earlier about a safe place to place your body while astral traveling.

Lupinius motions to the door as the light shimmers around him. ?After you." The voice comes out of the light, which fades a moment later to reveal the oversized wolf again.

Onyxia shoulders the door open and shifts once she is outside. Two wolves, one silver in color. But the battle had already begun. It did not last long though. Two demons and a lycan were enough to send the slayer into a retreat. He may have prepared for opposition, but not on this scale.

Mathias just noticed his barrier was failing him. He had been expecting dragons, not demons and whoever this magic using woman was. He shot to the side, then with a muttering of words disabled the barrier so that he could escape. A moment later, with the barrier now gone, he had vanished. Oh, he could be followed, but with two injured dragons. Not likely one would.

Icer snarled as that sword bit into her neck, white-hot pain, but she didn't care. Lashing out, she snapped, grabbing hold of the slayer's arm and giving a sharp yank, there was more than one way to disarm someone. There was the sound of snapping, just before Mathias had teleported away, and a cry of pain. It seemed Icer had broken something.

Lupinius falls to the earth, nearly on top of Icer. Before the tip of his sword can touch her, he releases it and it vanishes in a flash of light. Quickly, he turns to Kaleb as Mathias vanishes. "Kaleb! Track him!"

The wolf stopped digging upon feeling the wall was no longer there. Onyxia shifted and moved into the area in her war form. She had the slayers scent.

Icer didn't even feel the one that had nearly fallen on her. Nostrils flaring, her blood dripped down her neck, but she started tracking Mathias.

The huge, hulking demon that is Kaleb only nods once to Lupinius. Already, his form is shimmering away as Mathias is disappearing.

Nostrils still flared, though Icer seemed to be calming slightly. Still ignoring the burning pain in her neck; obviously she had lost the scent, though she moved toward the unconscious hatchling.

Hurt dragons? Not a problem. Kneeling down, Alicia places her ghostly hands on each of the dragons. She had quite the array of healing magic at her disposal. Again a blue aura would envelop the astral form and extend out to surround both the dragons would feel the warming sensation of mana course through their bodies and repair broken wings. Reset and heal both bone and tissue. Though all this spell casting was taking a toll upon the woman. Though she would not stop until both had been completely.

Onyxia wasn't a healer or a magic wielder, just your friendly neighborhood lycan. She further transformed back to her regular form.

Lupinius kneels next to the hatchling, in the meantime, taking account of her wounds... As the strange, guardian-angel woman begins healing Icer, he can sense the drain it has on her via his own abilities. He lends his own healing gifts to her, as they are not so limited by the burden of mortality, concentrating more on the hatchling than on Icer.

The hatchling had a nice gash through her wings and along her back, where blood was slowly pouring out. She was definitely unconscious as well.

?I'm fine.? Icer protested a little as she eyed Alicia, then the others. She continued to nuzzle the fallen hatchling, she'd deal with Mathias the next time she'd find him.

Lupinius places one hand on the gash along the hatchling's back, another on his amulet. Amethystine light begins to flow from his hand and into the hatchling. No simple task, this - dragons are much more complex than humans - but he takes his time.

Icer held still as she was worked on, at least not feeling the white-hot pain in her neck anymore. Ice blue eyes once clouded with rage cleared and she blinked, looking around the glen at those gathered.

Slowly - very slowly - the gash in the dragonling's back begins to knit closed, the flow of blood stopping. At last, that wound is closed, and he turns his attention to the wings.

Kaleb rematerializes, this time as a fairly ordinary-looking man of much shorter stature than his demon self - his gray eyes ablaze, for a moment, and he looks mad. "Son of a b****...I lost him.?

The hatchling?s wounds were healing, but she remained unconscious. Perhaps the effects of the sleep spell hadn?t completely worn off. Though the wounds had healed, she was left with a scar where it had cut her. That scar wasn?t going away, it seemed.

Onyxia stood off to the side, watching the tree line carefully. She could guard if nothing else.

?You?re not the only one that has.., though I think I did break something of his.? Icer replied to Kaleb.

Healing completed, Alicia would rise and lifting up her sword fly back to her body.

"We have his scent. He comes back, he's dead." Onyxia murmured darkly.

Lupinius sighs as the job is done, standing. "Well... Something tells me we'll end up running into him again, at some point." He looks over at Onyxia, "You're pretty fast, m'lady... I had a good time keeping up."

Icer gave a slight nod, ?I broke one of his swords yesterday, after a bolt meant for me hit my son. He'll be fine though.?

She smiled at Lupinius, "Thanks. It was one of those not thinking type of things."

Kaleb growls low, one could hear that demon in it for a moment. The amulet he wears - nearly identical to Lupinius' - glimmers brilliant blue for a moment, and he seems to calm somewhat. "I still should've been able to follow him."

?Oh, I suppose?? Icer dipped her neck then in a greeting. ?I am Icer,? a wink given to Onyxia. ?And I do believe Alicia just has my safety in mind.?

"Onyxia Uth Dravon Dragonbane. No, I don't live up to the name either."

Lupinius smirks, "It doesn't take a lot of thought to do what's right."

A soft chuckle given, ?Pleasure, Icer Trouble Ravenlock Shimmerscale, and I... unfortunately... do live up to mine.?

Onyxia grinned at Lupinius, "I was just tagging along to kill something." Shhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeyeah right.

Lupinius bows to Icer, "Lupinius, m'lady Icer. We met once, though quite briefly." He indicates Kaleb, "This is Kaleb, one of my brothers in arms."

The hatchling stirred, and the those fiery eyes opened and looked around. They were just a tad glazed, as if she was still sleepy, but otherwise she seemed alright. Aside from that new scar.

Onyxia nods to Kaleb with a smile.

?Ah, a pleasure,? Icer dips her serpentine neck again, ?And my fiery little one,? She said giving the hatchling a nuzzle.

Kaleb touches the brim of an imaginary hat, looking a bit more relaxed; and now, interestingly, as he speaks, there's more than a touch of Cajun in his accent. "Which part 'f yer name dya live up'ta, ma'am?"

Soon enough a familiar looking van would be barreling through the glen. Stopping short in front of that cave entrance. The woman driving climbed out and moved around the back of the van. She started rummaging through a box and pulled out several items resembling candy bars. Closing up the van, she dropped those bars in front of the resting dragons, before lifting one up herself and taking a bite. ?Icer. You and the baby should eat those. Chock full of proteins and vitamins to give you energy. Though I don?t have wyvern flavor they are strawberry chocolate I think.?

?Why the Trouble of course.? Icer replied to Kaleb, winking. ?My mate and I run the Orphanage. Seems most of the abandoned hatchlings seem drawn to me anyway.? She wriggled her snout at Alicia again. ?Anything but chocolate...?

?Well chocolate flavoring... not real chocolate... those cost to much where I am from.? The woman replied.

Onyxia stood off to the side still.

Kaleb grins, "Ah see." He turns to Onyxia, "And yer Onyxia? I b'lieve mon frere Wolfe ment'n'd y'all to me... at some length." He grins at Lupinius.

The hatchling eyed Alicia, not trusting her one bit. So, of course, she didn?t even sniff the candy bar things.

?You really should eat them. They have the recommended daily allotment of nutrients for a human, but two should help each of you.? The woman prodded.

Onyxia chuckled softly, "I can well imagine." She arched that brow to Lupinius though. Lupinius tries to glare at Kaleb, but can't keep a straight face doing it, and instead seems to flush slightly.

Icer gave a nod to Lupinius then, ?I do believe you know my brother Brian. Though, of course, we are not related by blood. He took me in.? She said sniffing a bar.

"Family is family." Onyxia put in.

In the background, the woman bantered with the dragon about her van. It does seem that the earlier confrontation was them messing around.

"Indeed it is...which is why I won't be kicking Kaleb's ass for mentioning that." Lupinius doesn't even try to suppress the slight grin.

Kaleb chuckles, "Well, mes amis, much as I'd like t'stay and enjoy, I'm gon' try an' fin' me a bad guy. Au revoir." His form shimmers for a moment before vanishing.

"And I won't inquire as to what was said about me." There was a saucy wink from Onyxia.

Icer watched the shimmering, before snapping up another vitamin bar. The woman moved to her van and pulled out a torn-up boot. She tossed it to Icer, ?There.?

Lupinius chuckles softly as he says in a low voice. "I wouldn't be at liberty to say, m'lady... Well, not right now, anyway. Suffice it to say, you would have found it quite flattering."

It was Onyxia?s turn to blush, "Ah, well." The smile did not leave those lips.

Icer was chewing on her boot now, twitching her tail and grinning to Alicia. ?My mate and I figured with how we were raised, we might help others that otherwise wouldn't have a chance.?

"Filet of Sole...heh" Onyxia quipped.

Lupinius chuckles and blushes a little himself... Well, what can he say? He likes her, and even though it may be a bit obvious, he chooses to keep the spoken knowledge of it to himself, for the time being. "I'd have thought a dragon might wants something a bit...tastier...for a chew toy."

?She drug me across the inn to get it off my foot.? The woman replied.

?I dun remember that.? Icer said eying Alicia.

?Sure you don?t..? Alicia swats her snout playfully.

?But then I was younger at the time.? Icer continued gnawing on the boot. A playful rumble was given at the swat. The banter continues in the background.

Onyxia is getting the hint though and she moves over to Lupinius to murmur. "(vq) I like you."

This time, there is no doubt there is a blush to Lupinius? features, but he looks right into her silver eyes and smiles. He speaks in those same low tones* "I like you, too, m'lady." He looks down at the amulet around his neck as it glows dimly "And of course..." He is cut off as the nexus swallows him whole.

Onyxia can feel as Gabriel is taken away. Not something she likes, but what can she do.

Onyxia is lounging at the hearth on a couch in the Red Dragon Inn. The events of yesterday weighing on her mind. Part of it was she was 1/2 tempted to live up to her name and take down a black wyrm.

There is a loud *POP* as a the Nexus deposits an overly large, sleeping wolf on the stones in front of the hearth.

Onyxia tilted her head seeing that. "(vq) Damn Nexus.

Lupinius stirs and looks around before shifting to his more human form "Indeed. One of these days I'll have to consult one of my brotherhood about how she controls it so well."

She smiled at him, "Welcome back."

He stretches and yawns, then smiles back at her. "And how are you this morn, Lady Dragonbane?"

"I am well enough, and you Gabriel?"

He smirks, "Well, despite the nexus bouncing me around to the many different points of the compass, I am well enough."

"Yes, it has a bad habit of doing that at the most inopportune times.

Lupinius grumbles, "Believe me, I've noticed."

"Hrm, and the day went from bad to irritating afterwards." Onyxia rolls her eyes. "I do grow tired of people thinking they are allowed, much less able to bully me." The tone was rather sardonic.

Lupinius raises an eyebrow, "Who was foolish enough to make that mistake?"

"A idiot black dragon that decided the Lake in the Glen would make a good lair."

Lupinius is quiet for a moment, a look of disbelief on his face. ?You would think, with a last name like yours, a dragon might know a little better."

"The darker ones tend to be more arrogant."

Lupinius tilts his head, "I didn't know that... But then, I can't say I've known too many dragons. I have a member of my brotherhood that's met more than a few, but he is of the mind that they're *all* pretty arrogant."

"Aside from Icer, yes."

"Well, he hasn't had the pleasure of meeting Icer... Not yet, anyway."

"Yesterday was my first meeting." Still she tilted her head as she regarded him. "And the Nexus was rather rude yesterday."

He sighs and - for just a moment - there is a slight blush that appears on his cheeks and a dim glow in his eyes as he recalls their parting words at that moment. "Apparently, the Nexus doesn't believe in 'good timing.'?

"No, it doesn't." She smiled, "Still..."

He smiles back* "Well...at least it got around to dropping me at the right place this time."

"I am glad. Nothing like a good looking guy getting practically dropped in your lap."

He laughs - the blush that touches his cheeks isn't nearly as 'slight' this time. ?I am quite pleased with where I ended up, as well - I can think of many worse places to be, and few that I would want to be more. After all, what guy wouldn't want to be dropped in the lap of a lovely woman?"

Her smile warms a bit, "Agreed." She is at a bit of a loss for words.

Lupinius is silent for a moment... Not entirely sure what to say, it seems. What do you say to the first person you've found actually interesting and attractive in over a millennium?

Onyxia was at a loss herself; she wasn't adept at dealing with men. Especial ones she was attracted too.

He smiles, finally. "So...were you born with your abilities?"

She nodded, "Yes. My parents were... powerful beings in their own right, though what my father saw in my mother is beyond me."

He chuckles, "Some men like the 'damsel in distress.' Personally, I've always found a woman who could possibly beat me in a fight to be more attractive."

She smiled at him, "I like the idea of being partners not subservient.

"My thoughts exactly. The problem being that - for the most part - the women who could beat me in a fight have a more... Masculine... look than I like." He looks at Onyxia, this time being obvious without being, well, chauvinistic.

"(vq) Not all of us, though."

He smiles, a warmer look to his brilliant blue eyes as he looks into her silver ones. "So I've noticed, m'lady."

"(vq) Maybe... We can." She trailed off; her turn to blush, as she wasn't sure how to voice what was on her mind without appearing too forward.

His eyes don't move from hers, now curious and flickering in their depths with violet light as he sees her blush... He speaks as low as she does, moving from his place on the hearthstones to the couch on which she sits* "We can...?" He asked quietly, as he's not sure what she's saying (yeah, he may be intelligent but he has his oblivious moments).

"(vq) Maybe see where things go?" She asked softly as she watched him sit.

He smiles at that - as he sits, his fingers touch the back of her hand. Interestingly, the touch is gentle, almost feather-light, for hands that last night had brought a sword down onto a magical barrier hard enough to puncture it. ?M'lady Dragonsbane -" Too formal, he says instead, "Onyxia... I wouldn't have it any other way. After all, you never know where the trail leads without following it."

She moved a little close and turned her hand under his. The first light touch for the woman that had strong enough to rake at said barrier.

Lupinius seems, for some strange reason, almost...well, shy. Perhaps it was understandably so, since he's never had a close relationship with anyone, really. Yet, instinctively perhaps, interlaces his fingers with hers as she turns her hand under his - not taking his eyes from hers.

She spoke softly as he free hand reached up to caress his cheek , "(vq) One day at a time, Lupinius." She only spoke his true name knowing they were alone for all intents and purposes.

He smiles, enjoying for the moment that gentle caress, as his own fingers from his free hand come up to brush over her cheek. "I have lived my entire life by that very principle, Onyxia... I certainly wouldn't change it now."

She nuzzled this fingers lightly, "I'm glad to have met you."

As he looks into her silver eyes, truly a shade he had never seen before, his own sapphire orbs light up with a warm, violet light that lingers for a moment. Not the usual flickering that could be mistaken for the eye shine that some animals have this time, but an actual light. "As am I to have met you, Onyxia."

She smiled at him warmly, "Would you like a drink?"

He chuckles softly, "Actually, I would, though not tequila, this time."

"What would you like?"
He shrugs, and stands. As he still has her hand in his, he pulls her to her feet gently "Well...let's just see what they have, shall we?"

She stands with the light pull, "Alright."

He grins and motions in an old-style, almost chivalric gesture. "After you."

She nods and grins as she moves to the bar. "Anything in particular you are craving?"

Lupinius considers as he follows her to the bar, "Hmm... I was thinking of something dark red."

"A wine perhaps?"

"I think that would do fairly well...though I'll admit to being somewhat ignorant as to which is the best."

"Me too, just gonna wing it." She grinned at him.

He chuckles, "In that case, I suppose I'll just have to take my chances." Just as he said that though, the Nexus chose to sweep her up. Of course, then there was a rather rude remark from another patron in the bar.
Lupinius ignores the newcomer, though he is tempted to give a rude remark, and simply goes with cursing the Nexus for it's extremely poor sense of timing. He sighs as he goes around behind the bar and digs around, finding a bottle of red wine and a couple of glasses... Then, thinking for a moment, pulls out a bottle of bourbon as well and a glass before heading back to the couch by the hearth.

At least the nexus was kind enough to drop her on the couch when it finally released her. He smiles as she is dropped right beside him. "Well, this certainly is a lovely gift."

Onyxia's swearing up a blue streak at the nexus, "Thrice damnable...Ahem." She grins to Lupinius then.

He laughs, "I think I was saying something similar when you got whisked away."

"Great minds think alike." There was a wink at him.

He indicates the bottle of bourbon alongside the wine he'd gotten. "Agreed. I wasn't sure which one you would want, so..."

"I was of a mind of sharing a glass of the wine."

He grins at her, "Perfect...then it's a good thing I brought two glasses." He pulls the cork out of the wine bottle and pours them both a glass - handing her one, he takes the other.

She curled her legs up under her then takes the glass of wine from him, "Thank you."

He smiles, "You're quite welcome." He almost considers raising the glass, but...no, nothing so cheesy. He can be content sharing a glass in her company. As the newcomer enters, he looks over. There's just someone thing about being part canine when you see a cat...*

That makes two, but she restrains the urge to lounge with Lupinius and enjoy the wine.

Lupinius smirks at the cat before returning his attention to Onyxia* "So, I have to ask - where did you learn to fight?"

"My dad and my uncle." She said softly, "Back when the war guilds were common, they had lead more than their share."

He nods at that, "You do have a rather...unique style. Any weapons training?"

"Melee mostly. Paired Staves, Daggers. The claws. Uncle Liu Kang was known for his fighting."

He grins, "I didn't figure you for the type to use guns and the like - you seem to be more for 'up close and personal' combat."

"Not at all." She sidelong glanced to the bar and shook her head. She then returned her attention to Lupinius. She shoots a glare to a fool in wolf form at the bar. More drama and they were not in a mood to deal with it. She muttered under her breath about children.

He chuckles, shaking his head. "Only here would you find a drama this amusing..." He eyes the hatchling, familiar from last night, then watches the so-called ninja drop out of the rafters, katana in hand, and rolls his eyes before whispering to Onyxia* "Do we want to get involved in this...?"

She murmurs softly, "Hades bless, no."

He murmurs back, grinning. "Thank the spirits...I'm comfortable right here..."

She grinned and curls up against him, "Yeah, me too."

Fiery eyes looked around the inn. Firedancer didn?t actually recognize those who had helped her, as she had been unconscious or spell-bound to a sleep during the time. But, she felt mischievous today... With a puff of flame, she had vanished to reappear in the rafters above Onyxia in a similar puff of flame.

Onyxia was a bit focused on Lupinius, but hey who wouldn't be. Lupinius smiles as Onyxia curls up against him, slipping an arm around her... Yes, he is quite comfortable.

Comfortable might not last very long. Fiery eyes looked down at them, as if debating what Firedancer wanted to do... Then, a small puff of flame was shot out, right at Onyxia's hair.

The ball of flame that stops before making contact in midair "Now, that wasn't very nice..." Lupinius scolded gently.

Onyxia looked up and sighed, "Baby Dragon mischief."

Was that a pout when her fire didnt hit its mark? You bet. Plan b then. Just as Onyxia looked up, the orange hatchling dropped from the rafters in their direction. Onyxia?s reflexes were good. She easily caught the baby fireball. The ball of flame dances in the air for a moment, before reforming itself into the shape of a tiny dragon identical to the one just above them.

Firedancer was caught by Onyxia, and was staring at the fiery likeness of herself. A blink, and she sniffed it, recognizing it was a mirror image of herself. ~I look amazing, dont I?~

Onyxia was quite comfortable lounging with Lup. "Vain little thing."

Lupinius chuckles, ?According to my friend, many of them are." Using that little magic trick he knows, he makes the fiery likeness fly a couple of circles around the room before allowing it to dissolve.

Onyxia shook her head as the hatchling poofed and leaned on his shoulder. She was getting more and more comfortable.

He sighs softly. The way she leans on him has his mouth close to her ear, and he whispers with a smile. "Are you comfortable?"

She murmurs softly, "(vq) Very, you?"

Lupinius murmurs back, "I am, very...now if there's no more drama for which we are required..."

She tilted her head to look up at him, "(vq) That would be quite a miracle."

He looks back down into her eyes. "Yes, it would...but who knows? It could happen..."

She smiled at him, those sapphire eyes so deep, "Well, the day has been very good so far."

With his free hand, knocks on the wooden top of the nearby table, still not looking away from her eyes though. "Then let's hope it stays that way."

She was content to lean against him. Big step for her, but then he put his trust in her with his secrets.

He sighs contentedly. He's never, in his whole existence (which is a long span of time indeed), done this with anyone, nor indeed been content to share much about himself. Odd that he should be so comfortable now.

A little black hatchling peered around with icy blue eyes. This wasn't the nest, where was she? Tiny nostrils aquiver and she did what any child would do.., She wheeled and dived straight under a couch.

Onyxia grinned: ?(vq) 10 to 1 you are going to deal with Kaleb busting your stones.? She caught the lost hatchling diving under the couch out of the corner of her eye.

The tip of the hatchlings snout poked out from under the couch, but did she make a move? No...

The nexus released Firedancer back on the bar. There was a blink of those fiery eyes, and a look around. ~I hate it when that happens~

Blue eyes blinked a moment as the black hatchling peered up from her safe spot. Wait? Was that her sister? She had know her sissy disappeared now and then from the lair, but she hadn't known where she'd gone.

Lupinius chuckles, "You may be right. But I'm happy to say I don't particularly have a problem with that." Lupinius can feel something moving under the couch he and Onyxia are lounging on - even so, he's not especially inclined to move.

The tip of her snout poked out a little more, as she peered around. So many were bigger than she, though. Under the safety of the couch was where she'd remain, until she was at least more comfortable.

Firedancer looked around, and sniffed. A familiar scent she caught..- ~Sister? Stormdancer?~

Onyxia chuckled at the quip and then murmured, "(vq) Frightened hatchling."

The two hatchling went back and forth in thought speech. Firedancer was bold and perched on the bar. Stormdancer was content to hide for the moment under the couch.

Onyxia leaned over the side of the couch and looked at the hatchling. Icy blue eyes widened as the face appeared in her view, and Stormdancer huddled where she was, nostrils still aquiver.

Lupinius has been sitting there, enjoying the warmth and closeness of Onyxia. When she moves - curious, he leans over to look as well, voice a whisper. "Still under there?"

Stormdancer?s ears perked at whispered words, though she'd move no closer. Obviously, she'd never been away from the nest before.

Onyxia smiled gently, "One of Icers, are you?" Silver eyes seemed gentle. Okay, she developed a fondness for hatchlings. Lupinius leans back to watch Onyxia try to coax the dragonling out.

Stormdancer couldn't see her sister anymore, icy blue eyes blinking. Though she peered up at the one speaking, finally daring to inch closer.

"Come on little one, we're not going to hurt you." Onyxia spoke softly.

Still a bit unsure, Stormdance ventured a few steps closer, nostrils quivering and blue eyes alert. Lupinius watches this with a smile upon his lips, those sapphire blue eyes on Onyxia warm and softened.

Onyxia toned her voice to be soothing, "It is safe to come out. We're friends of your momma's." This said while leaning over the side of the couch giving the world a better view of her rear. Onyxia was patient, not wanting to spook her. "That's it, come on out."

Stormdancer poked her nose out a little more at the mention of her mother. A tiny silvery talon emerged, then her serpentine neck, icy blues peering up at the one speaking soothingly.

Onyxia placed her hand slowly where the hatchling could see it. Again making no sudden moves, "Come on out, sweetling. I know where your nest is too."
Stormdancer?s ears perked at mention of the nest, and by now one could see the lightning like mark on her forehead.

"That's it, a little more. I'm sure you don't want to stay under the couch all night." Onyxia coaxed.

Slowly - very slowly, so as not to spook the baby hatchling; Lupinius peers over the edge of the couch, not putting himself too close - just to where he can see.

Stormdancer watched the movements, and seeming as though they weren't threatening, she finally made it all the way out, she was smaller than her sister Firedancer, and obviously not as bold.

Onyxia carefully picked up the hatchling and cradled her. "Definitely not as bold as the other one." She smiled at Lupinius before sitting back up.

Muscles tensed as Stormdancer was picked up, but she calmed ever slightly. Peering up at the one holding her; she was trembling, partly from her fear, and partly from the cold.

Lupinius smiles as he leans back with Onyxia, blue eyes watching her as she cradles the hatchling. His voice is a soft, warm murmur. "You did that very well, m'lady."

Onyxia brought the little one close to her crooning softly. Odd it was especially since her own mother never did this for her. She smiled up at him, "Thanks." The warrior had a heart despite what she's seen.

The kitchen door was nudged open with paw, light grunting growl of sound as the beast prowled in, tail swished behind her in slow rhythm.

Stormdancer had just started to relax, when ears perked at the growl and she buried her head against the woman holding her, giving a startled whimper.

Lupinius looks to the fire, which is not very far away, and, using the same magic he had used with the other hatchling earlier, encourages it to blaze brighter, warmer. The fire does so at his bidding, sending a wave of heat to where they are on the couch.

Onyxia stroked at those scales soothingly, "It's alright, little one."

Stormdancer was still trembling, though peeking her head out as she curled up in the safety of those arms. Her muscles relaxed a little more as the heat flared.

Snort, A flick of ears. Sinew rolled and moved with every step, stretching with muscles adjusting to subtle changes. A sprawl out along the length of floor in front of the bar.

Lupinius looks over to where the beast is entering the Inn, sapphire eyes glimmering for a moment with a violet light as he looks the big cat over. No outward aggressiveness is sensed, so he turns his attention back to Onyxia and the hatchling, speaking in his own low, soothingly smooth baritone* "Tis all right, dragonling... just a big kitty."

Kitty, a lash of tail at that. Claws unsheathed and dug into floorboards.

Peering at the "kitty" before peering back up to those with her, Stormdancer snuggled a little further into those arms. Onyxia was relaxed and crooning to the hatchling. As much as she liked little ones, she had come to the conclusion she wasn't in any hurry to have them herself. Stormdancer snuggled in those arms, peering up as the tip of that tail of hers found her jaws.

Onyxia murmured softly, "(vq) Hungry little one??

Hungry perhaps, but more likely it was like a built in pacifier. Icy blues peering around as her tail remained between her jaws.

Lupinius has a certain fondness for animals, and those who show kindness to them. As he watches Onyxia with the hatchling, he grins, "Had much practice?"

Onyxia shook her head, "Not really. What I do doesn't lend to being ... mothering."

Flick of those feline eyes to Angelis. Rest of gaze with an idle swish of tail.

Lupinius chuckles, "I wasn't referring to mothering... Just helping the frightened and lost. What we do isn't a profession that lends much time for parenting."

Stormdancer had calmed considerably, in truth, the safety of the arms was more comforting than under the couch, and she gave a little muffled rumble, not releasing her grip on her tail.

Yeah, that's about what we do, helping the frightened and lost when you think about it."

"True. You seem to have a talent for it, in more ways than one." Lupinius grins, his blue eyes sparkling mischievously for a moment, "The view wasn't bad, either."

Onyxia laughed softly, "Glad to see you were enjoying it."

Stormdancer peered over at Lupinius, giving a muffled giggle and purr.::

Lupinius chuckles, "Some things you just can't help."

Onyxia was smiling at him, "Nope, something you can't." Still it made her feel good.

Tiny wings twitched as she shifted position in those arms, never letting go of that tail tip though. It seemed to have a calming effect upon the little one, as did the heat.

Onyxia had one hand was stoking the scales. They might have even made the pretty family picture, except for the dragonling. Eyes half closed, Stormdancer gave a muffled cooing sound seemingly in pleasure. She'd never had her scales stroked in such a way before, the closest she'd had was a bath from momma, but this was enjoyable, because she didn't have to get wet.

Onyxia?s head rested on Lupinius' shoulder. Lupinius smiles as he slips his arm around Onyxia again, looking down at the hatchling in her arms. It does make for a nice picture, even with the dragonling there, except that even given their unique natures they could not have dragon offspring. The peace of the inn was soothing even for Onyxia. But then she didn't feel so alone in these lands now.

Releasing her tail, Stormdancer gave a tiny rumble and started gumming Onyxia's finger. Her fangs still had a long way to go, as did she before she'd even be on her own.

Lupinius sighs contentedly again... For once, it is a peaceful night in the Inn. And, for the first time in...Well, a while... He doesn't feel like the outsider anymore. He looks down at the hatchling gnawing on Onyxia's finger and grins. "I think she's found a new chew toy..."

Onyxia chuckled softly, "Yeah, it's cute though."

Stormdancer seemed contented with that finger, of course it wouldn't hurt, her fangs weren't truthfully large enough to puncture anything yet.

"Agreed, it is that."

Onyxia smiled up at him.

Blue eyes gaze up at those with her again as she continued to nibble the woman's finger, making tiny growling and rumbling sounds.

Onyxia wiggled her finger playing with the hatchling.

Onyxia

Stormdancer reached with her forepaws to grasp the finger as it wiggled, growling and rumbling in a pleasurable game until she gave a little hungry whine.

"Hungry now?"

Stormdancer?s tail tip coiled around the finger as well, and she whimpered again as her belly gave a hungry rumble of it's own.

Lupinius raises an eyebrow, a quizzical look. "What does one feed a baby dragon?"

Onyxia looked up at Lupinius. "Hrmmm. Good question."

There was a puff of flame on the bar, that seemed to have no source whatsoever. When what little smoke there was cleared, one would see an orange cat-sized hatchling with fiery red eyes, and a fire-rune marking on her forehead. Firedancer gave a look around.

Lupinius smirks, "It can't be like feeding a baby wolf..."

Stormdancer was eying her sister again, but not moving from those arms, her belly still giving little rumbles of hunger.

"I hope not." Onyxia stuck her tongue out at Lupinius then.

Lupinius laughs, "Careful with that - I might think you intend to use it." He eyes the dragonling again* "Think it eats steak?"

Oh.. Well, there was her sister again. But Firedancer didn?t feeling like moving, so she settled down on the bartop with a lazy yawn. Sissy was lucky she was comfy as well, otherwise there might be trouble.

"Maybe, I would try it. Tiny cubes might work." Onyxia replied.

Loath as he is to move from his place next to her, Lupinius knows he has to - he doesn't want the little hatchling to go hungry, after all. He gently moves from his place on the couch, flashes Onyxia a grin, and heads for the kitchen. "Back in a minute, then." He comes back with a small plate, with a small heap of very neatly cubed, raw steak on it...then sees the dragonling is gone. "The Nexus...?"

She nodded and smiled up at him. Stormdancer gave a slight whine as the Nexus tried stealing her, and she wiggled a little, trying to get comfy again as she waited for food.

Onyxia chuckled again. "Well, that was not so bad."

Lupinius takes his seat next to Onyxia, still holding the plate of steak, cut into cubes just small enough for the hatchling to consume without choking on them. "Very true...not like getting bounced around to the other side of the planet..."

Stormdancer was wriggling now, trying to get closer to the plate, tiny wings fluttering as if that would help her balance. Onyxia adjusted her position so the little one was able to eat.

Lupinius offers the plate to the small dragon, putting it in easy reach* "You must be pretty hungry, little one."

The serpentine neck snaked out as she remained in Onyxia's arms, and she sniffed the steak thoroughly before snapping up a piece and swallowing it without even bothering to chew. It was truly a domesticated scene. Onyxia was going to have to kick slaver butt double to make up for it.

Lupinius chuckles. This close, they are touching, and with touch his empathic abilities double - he can catch little bits of her thoughts. "There's nothing wrong with showing a softer side, Onyxia? though I wouldn't want this getting back to Kaleb. He rags on me enough as it is."

Onyxia

Date: 2009-05-30 17:27 EST
Stormdancer nearly cleared the plate before eyelids started drooping. Usually after a big meal, there was one thing a hatchling did, and that was nap? The hatchling?s chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm.

Onyxia murmured softly and set the hatchling to the couch beside her, "Won't learn it from me."

Lupinius smiles, his hand touching hers again. "Well, I won't tell if you won't."

Instinctively, the little dragonling coiled up in her slumber, the tip of her tail finding her jaws again. She'd make sure to remain on her belly, even the youngest knew the importance of that.

Onyxia got comfortable again watching the hatchling. Aunt Lycan on guard duty. Heh. "I'm not worried about either of us, as long as it doesn't end up in the gossip column."

Every now and then, she'd scrunch up her snout, or a tiny wing would rustle, was she dreaming? Perhaps, but of what only the hatchling knew.

Lupinius chuckles, watching her "Somehow, then, I think we might be safe."

"Thank the gods for small favors." She grinned at him.

He grins back, ?Well, I only say so because we're not famous. Well...at least, I'm not." He raises an eyebrow at her.

She shook her head, "I'm not."

A tiny yawn, and she rested her head atop tiny forepaws, contently dreaming and dozing. She'd most likely end up sleeping through the night, or at least until she was hungry again.

"We'll have to make sure she gets back to the lair."

He smiles, "Well, m'lady, I'm up for a night-time stroll if you are."

"I am." She gently gathered the hatchling to her.

He stands and stretches "I'm thinking a run on all fours wouldn't be the way to go."

Snuggling into the arms that gathered her up, giving another tiny yawn; she definitely wouldn't make it back to the lair on her own tonight.

She stood with the hatchling. "It's a beautiful night."

He smiles as he motions again, leading the way to the door this time. "Indeed it is. Perfect for a little walk."

Stormdancer had buried her head against the arms that carried her, slumbering peacefully. Onyxia carried the hatchling with her and she smiled at Lupinius.

Lupinius leads the way to the door and holds it open for Onyxia, as she has her hands full for the moment, smiling back at her. Onyxia slipped out carrying the hatchling. He follows out the door after Onyxia as she made her way down the path carrying the sleeping hatchling.

Lupinius was walking beside Onyxia, closer tonight than last night. "You were right - it is a nice night."

Onyxia was smiling as they made their way to the lair, "Yes, and it's better for the company."

Lupinius chuckles, "Yeah, it's funny how who you're with can make it that much nicer."

She was almost to the lair with the sleeping bundle. "Yeah, certainly special."

Lupinius smiles at that as they arrive at the lair to drop off the sleeping bundle. "That you are..." He said softly.

She slipped inside the lair and placed the hatchling in the nest before stepping out again.

He chuckles as she re-emerges, "Alone at last...?"

She stepped over to him, "For the moment."

"Well...that made the day interesting." He takes both of her hands in his, looking into her silver eyes. "So..where do we go from here?"

She laced her hands in his, "Where would you like to go, Gabriel." She had heard others in the area.

There is that glow from his amulet again... As the nexus takes him, she can hear a loud, single curse...*

She sighed, "I will see you tomorrow." That said softly.

Onyxia

Onyxia prowled into the inn looking to curl up at the hearth. The sharp nose caught the scent of her kin and she woofed once to greet her.

Snorlax sipped his coffee, patting Shariane on the head. Shariane chuckled and gave a nod to Onyxia as she entered.

Onyxia curled up in wolf form by the hearth. There's a sharp *pop* as the nexus opens and deposits Lupinius in a heap on the couch next to the hearth, in his humanish form. He sits up and looks around, catching sight of the wolf by the hearth. Her scent tells him who it is, and he smiles at her as he looks up for a moment and mutters* "Thanks, Val..."

Onyxia woofed softly and transformed. Good thing for clothing that transforms with you otherwise that might be mighty embarrassing.

Lupinius smiles softly at her, his blue eyes sparkling with violet light for a moment. "Well, hello again, Onyxia."

"Hello yourself, Gabriel. The Nexus seems to have grown jealous." She winked at him.

Lupinius chuckles softly, "Too bad for the Nexus."

A wave was offered to Onyxia in recognition from the prior evening. Easing off the bar stool Lani moved to find a more comfortable perch, that tranquil grace made her near boneless as she collapsed with a sigh into the cushioned bottom of a booth seat. Legs stretched out as she sighed in contentment, subdued still relaxation was a gifting grace she managed to find for this particular day

Onyxia waved to Lani and curled up on the couch next to Lupinius, "Good." She murmured, "Was worried."

Lupinius smiles again and traces the tips of his fingers against her cheek "Oh, I can take care of my self, m'lady... Even against the big, bad Nexus."

Onyxia chuckled, and tilted her head into that touch. "Yeah well, still" She was at a loss to explain.

Lupinius was still smiling "Well...I know you can take care of yourself, but I'll admit I might have been concerned a bit myself, in your place."

"That hunter came back. If it wasn't for Baron DeMeur."

?Hunter...the one that was after Icer?"

"Yes."

Lupinius growls, "You'd think he would have learned his lesson the last time..."

"Apparently not." She sighed softly.

Lupinius raises an eyebrow and grins, ?Did the Baron manage to give him another lesson?"

She nodded with a chuckle, "That he did."

Lupinius smiles, "Well, then let us hope for his sake he doesn't make the same mistake a third time."

"For all his power, he strikes me as obsessed."

Onyxia

Words were lulling to Lani, a sweet harmony that she lingered in. The words were not important, the tones and resonations were. Never an intruder those sounds of communication were a sweet distraction from the thick heady nature of the past few days. Overwhelmed she felt at times. Her resources and talents of control over those walls and shields well it was not as strong as before.

Lupinius shakes his head. "Some people are like that. I myself, until I came to Rhydin, was hunted by a man who had as much power as that hunter does - more so, because he had a kingdom of his own to do with as he wished. He hunted me relentlessly for years simply because I helped a slave of his escape his grasp."

Onyxia rested a hand on his arm, "Obsession does that to people. For years the Knights of Takhisis would harass my house."

Lupinius smirks as he recalls the memory of the last confrontation he ran into. "Well... I think that the last run-in I had with the bounty hunters he was sending after me might have gotten the point across... I left one of them alive to take a message back." That predatory smile flashes across his features again. "I haven't heard from them since. Either he got the point or they simply haven't been able to find me... Either way, I'm comfortable with the results."

Fingers brushed through Lani?s hair even as her thoughts were busy, energy pooled in her mind and she spindled it as she was so used to working those threads of energy. Soft sigh, a murmur under breath as she worked that woven cure.

"I have outlasted mine, sooo." She smiled and moved closer to him

Lupinius smiles and moves closer to her, slipping an arm around her waist and pulling her closer. "Sooo... any more run-ins with hatchling dragons?"

She curled close, "Not recently. Been quiet aside from that one appearance." Her head rest on his shoulder.

Lupinius chuckles, then looks around. "Well, what do you know...seems we're all alone in here."

"That is not a bad thing at all." She smiled up to him.

Sigh exhaled, curses in French came out as lovely and thick as dark honey. Mug snagged as Lani stepped behind the bar counter to fill that mug with the sweet brew of cider.

Lupinius smiles back, the looks around as the Nexus deposits the lady that it had snatched up a moment ago. He looks back to Onyxia and grins* "Well...we were, anyway."

Onyxia: She waved again to Lani from where she was.

Yes, see the Nexus wasn't sexist at all. It took women too, but alas there was no one around to miss her this evening. Cider filled mug was lifted to her lips, fingers wiggling to Onyxia. For a moment the Valendria witch even seemed amused.

Lupinius chuckles, "A friend of yours?"

Small of back touched to the counter behind the bar, there was a natural grace to the position. One hand supported her weight as its twin kept a firm grip on the mug. Dark eyes flicked to Onyxia and her beau at that moment.

"Passing acquaintance at the moment." She smiled, "The barkeep was trying to learn more about the people she encountered yesterday."

Onyxia

Lani gave an agreeable nod to those words. They fit for explanation. Seemed since her return there were many that read far too much into her that she believed she kept restrained and guarded.

The way it was said spokes that Onyxia would be amendable to getting to know her further, but she was not one to assume like that.

Another sip taken, considering in her sweet way of contemplation. Those dark eyes moved, a glimmer in eyes offered a shimmer as rare as black diamonds. "I am Laniandra Valendria." Dark honey voice that offered name as easy as that tongue could twist a pure incantation.

For the moment, opts for the Lupinius alias - his true name is entrusted to only a select few. "Gabriel Wolfe, m'lady." He bows his head slightly to her - the rest of him doesn't move, as he is quite comfortable where he is, thanks.

Low, on all fours, Penance gently bumped the front door slowly open, even the small touch such as that scraping fine wooden shavings from the finish of the polished wood as it brushed against her hair. She pushed with a bit more intent and slipped in, loping to a spot under a table just near the doorway and looked out from beneath, firelight sometimes twinkling off the silvery padlock that hung from her throat.

Onyxia nodded, "Onyxia uth Dravon Dragonbane." She murmurs tongue in cheek, "I do not live up to the last."

Alias. Lani knew them well. As well as birth names. Surnames. Gaze flicked from Gabriel to Onyxia. Weighted without judgment, but still there was an inquisitive gleam in dark depths. "Well met, Gabriel Wolfe." His name was soft in murmur, light, gracing for one that held alias she kept that name as calm sanctuary. "Well met, Onyxia uth Dravon Dragonbane." Corner of mouth moved in a languid smile that never fully touched her lips. "Sometimes we don't reach the nature of our names, but we still bear them as crests and burdens, honor and sin." A bow of head as another sip of the cider taken.

Onyxia nodded to the words, "And in some circles, to know one?s name is to give you power over that Person."

Featureless, pale blue orbs looked out from a curiously frightened face and looked back and forth to the lips of those that were speaking.

Lupinius almost smiles at that last. Anyone who knows his true name is able to summon him at will, and therefore his name is only given to those he trusts most. Of course, 'summoning' him didn't necessarily imply control...

"Worse then a photograph." Chin lifted as lashes fell low over those dark depths, shimmering gleam like starlight within midnight fold of sable skies. "Names have power but the names we choose for ourselves can hold just as much strength, can easily be as controlled." Soft. A threadbare shiver of emotion along flesh. The nature of panic licking her spine. Not her emotion ever. Gaze moved to the one exuding such emotion. A tsk of tongue. "Peace, ma petite, we will not harm you." Softly called, a rest of hip as a brow quirked to Gabriel. There was a knowledge in that summoning, demons and gods oft would grace their chosen with a summoning name to call them so full control would never be obtained but still they would come. Proper circles indeed. The expression was autumn enchantment and star kissed beauty of the night, she rather liked the pair.

While they had been talking a girl had slipped into the in. She looked feral and abused. Her actions spoke of fear. They had done what they could to coax her to eat. The fear however could not be conquered in this setting and she had bolted.

Lupinius stands there for a moment, utterly nonplussed* "...I hadn't been expecting that..."

Onyxia shook her head, "Names, Gabriel." Drawing his attention to their previous conversation.

Onyxia

Date: 2009-06-06 13:00 EST
Lupinius shakes his head, "Well...perhaps someone should free her of that... Though how her name came to be a control for that one, I don't know... Unless she has some sort of hypnotic command implanted..."

Just a shake of her head. Lani moved to where the girl had been, bending down to pluck up that plate. Those dark eyes were drowning pools as her jaw set. Heading for the kitchen, she nudged the door with her hip before disappearing in that area of domestication. Might have been one of the rare opportunities the girl had to eat.

The blood was running down Onyxia's arm, "Might not be hypnotic, certainly made her very afraid.

The plates washed and cleaned and left in the drying rack before she was coming back with a towel to clean up the pooling blood and that salve pot, both set down near to Onyxia before she was walking away and back over to the bar to finish her cider.

Lupinius turns his attention back to Onyxia as the scent of her blood touches his nostrils. Taking her hand in both of his, he looks into her eyes for a moment before his own close. Warm, violet light slips from between both of his hands. She feels a warmth for a moment from her own flesh, a gentle, pleasant tingling that envelopes her hand and arm. When it fades and he takes his hands away, the wounds are gone.

Onyxia smiled at Lani and took up the towel to staunch the blood. Right before Gabriel took her hands in his. The pain disappeared with her wounds. Her eyes having been locked on his.

Lupinius opens his eyes and looks into hers again. "Sorry...I know you don't need the help, but it's not in my nature to allow someone I... care for so much to simply suffer."

"It's alright. It was hurting pretty good." Onyxia had a lop-sided grin on her lips.

Lupinius grins back, "I should expect so. She shoved those claws right through your hand and into the floor."

Palms struck the surface of the bar, soundless. Pushing up and away. Ensnared in that svelte grace, the somber beauty of another day. Descent of chin to Vilrath in farewell, the same farewell executed to the pairing. Those boots clicked, their cadence a rhythm that was hypnotic and sensual of a Valendria witch. The path she walked today would be wild and restless.

Onyxia leaned against Lupinius and looked over to Lani. "Safe travels." Lupinius slips his arms about her waist as he bows his head to Lani.

Onyxia wrapped her arms around him, "Still bothers me to see people like that and not be able to do much."

Lupinius nods in agreement, "There has to be something that can be done... I've always been a believer that there is always a way... It just remains to be found."

"Yes, there has to be a way beyond hunting..." Too many instances of not being able to help.

He smiles at her, raising an eyebrow. "If it weren't for the reputation we're required to have, I'd say it's a shame you don't show this side more."

She smiled at him, "Sssh, we do have a rep to maintain." She teased a little.

He chuckles softly, looking down into her eyes. "Like I said, I won't tell if you won't."

"Promise." She was looking into his eyes. It wasn't a question.

Onyxia

Lupinius smiles as he looks back into hers, "As do I." What happens next, he doesn't even think about - it is as if gravity had drawn him in, as he leans down towards her and touches his lips to hers.

She is acting on instinct herself as her lips respond to his.

His lips linger on hers for a long, timeless moment before he finally pulls away, looking down into her eyes again - he blushes slightly as he smiles. "I've...umm, actually wanted to do that for some time..."

She murmured softly, "(vq) Yeah, me too." She was definitely not complaining either.

Lupinius grins at her, looking into her eyes, which are pretty close to his own - from here he can see each facet of them. "Well...I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one."

She laughed softly, "(vq) You do know you are stuck with me."

He chuckles softly, not looking away, and speaks very quietly. "Oh, quite aware...just as you should be that you are stuck with me. It's be hard for either of us to get away from the other, you know."

She was almost breathless as she spoke, "(vq) Wouldn't have it any other way."

Lupinius chuckles as he leads her to the couch again. "Good...because I have no intention of letting you get away."

Onyxia settled on the couch comfortably and smiled up to him. He settles onto the couch next to her and slides is arm around her again, pulling her close to him and looking around. He opens his mouth to say something...then stops himself. "I was going to say something, but maybe I shouldn't jinx it...."

She moved close, nestling in. The curiosity written in her eyes, "Oh"

Lupinius chuckles and brings his lips close to her ear, whispering softly. "I was going to say we're all alone again, but the last time I said that, someone came in again."

She made a quietly little sound with how close he was to her ear.

Lupinius chuckles softly in her ear. "Well, it looks as if we are having a bit better luck than we have previously for the moment."

Onyxia nuzzled close to him, "(vq) Indeed." She tilted her head up to look at him. "(vq) As cheesy as it sounds, I adore the color of your eyes."

He grins, looking down at her, "Well, then, let me match cheesy with cheesy - I do love the color of your eyes... In fact I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like them." She smiled softly at him.

Lupinius grins, "It's true. You don't see someone with silver eyes just any day of the week, you know. Well, not naturally silver, anyway."

?I'm different, that's for sure."

?Definitely. Which is a good thing - if you were normal, you'd be boring."

She laughed softly. "Who's normal and why would I want to be him?"

He chuckles, a low, almost animal sound, as quiet as it is. "I believe Kaleb told me that 'normal is a setting on a dishwasher."

She laughed softly, "I like Kaleb."

Onyxia

Lupinius smiles, "Out of all of the new Guardians, he is the one I can identify with the best - he and I have a lot in common. Too much, at times, it seems."

"It looks like, you both get along well, almost like brothers."

Silas appears in a flash in the middle of the common room and hits the ground running - or stumbling, anyway. He skids to a halt and steadies himself with the base of his staff digging into the floorboards, his broad wizard's hat tipping forward and very nearly slipping off.

Onyxia looks up tensed at the flash of light.

Serena's hair is held up in a high wet ponytail as she ducks through the door in a pair of damp black yoga pants and long sleeve tee which is now clingy due to the storm she got caught in during her jog. With an unhappy shake of her head, she makes her way towards the bar, eager to spend a moment or two drying out.

The young mage blinks, looks around, then pushes up the brim of his hat with his staff. He is dressed in a long coat with billowing sleeves that could almost pass for robes, and laden with a satchel, a canvas pack, and a lantern in his left hand that's already been extinguished, the wrought iron marked with runes in three different languages. His gloves are dirty, his face a little smudged, and also a bit flushed and sweaty. He heaves a sigh, muttering... then notices the people around him, and gives Onyxia and her friend an awkward but polite bow of his head, and waves to Serena. The lantern creaks and rattles when he waves. Soon the mage and Serena were talking in the background.

Lupinius looks around at the sudden flashing of light, not in alarm really, just making sure it's not trouble - he nods to the newcomers before settling himself back beside Onyxia. "Well, at least it's not more drama..." Onyxia settles back in against Lupinius and relaxes.

The kitchen door came swinging open with the marked arrival of the Valendria witch. Trailing in her wake was a sweet, spiced aroma.

Onyxia smiled and waved to Lani as she returned.

The corner of mouth curled in the side vision of a carefully pieced together smile. Wave to Onyxia as those dark eyes lingered for a moment on Silas. Glimmer in those eyes was a shine of black diamond intrigue. "Bon Soir." Offered to the gathered as she stepped through the break in the bar. The aroma clung to her flesh near as a sweet perfume.

Lupinius stiffens as the amulet at his neck glows for a moment, then he looks down at Onyxia, a rueful look on his features. "I'm being paged, darling...*

The smiled fades, but Onyxia just leans up to kiss him, "(vq) Be well."

Lupinius shakes his head, "Occasionally, I hate it when duty calls." He leans down to touch his lips lingeringly to hers, a hint of sadness in his eyes. "If I'm not back tomorrow, come hunt me down." He has a teasing smile on his lips - touches his lips to hers again - still positioned that way, his form dissolves into a wavering field of violet light.

Onyxia sighs blinking a moment. She, then, slid off the couch and into the night, to hunt.

Onyxia

Lupinius looks around at the new entrants to the Inn, not moving except to turn his head and scan the place with his eyes. As his gaze alights on each of them, his eyes flicker with violet light for a moment, and then move on to the next. When he is satisfied he has looked them all over thoroughly, he turns his sapphire-blue eyes back to the flames.

Onyxia pushes through the door of the inn. She took a look around the inn and grinned at the figure behind the hearth.

Lupinius does a double take as the presence of a familiar face and voice suddenly register in his mind and he turns back to the direction of the bar and waves at Lani* "Good eve." As he does so, he spies Onyxia, and a look of real pleasure lights up his eyes as he smiles at her. "Well, hello there."

Onyxia smiles and gives a wave over to Lani before turning to Lupinius, "Hello yourself, handsome."

Lupinius grins as he gets up off the couch and walks over to Onyxia, setting his glass down on the table beside the couch as he goes. "Handsome doesn't fit me as well as beautiful does you."

When he is close enough to do so, Onyxia drapes her arms across his shoulders. "Hrmmm, call it even. How are you?"

Lupinius slips his arms around her waist as he gets closer to her, still smiling as he pulls her close. "Well... I've had worse days, certainly. Much better since you got here, though."

She is grinning up at him, "Oh I know that feeling." Yeah, she was wearing a goofy grin on her lips.

Lupinius unable to resist, he leans in close and kisses those grinning lips for a long, lingering moment before pulling away again. "Now if only I had a way to make my nights go as smoothly as my days, I'd be all set."

Oh she melted against him with the kiss. Just what she was looking She slipped a runestone into his pocket. "That might help."

Lupinius feels her put the stone in his pocket, raising an eyebrow as he looks at her* "Hm... and what might that be for...?"

She murmured softly, "Consider that a house key." She winked but then got a little serious. "(vq) Shariane set a spell to the stone that will allow you to recall to House Uth Dravon should you or your Brotherhood have need of a haven." Then she grinned again, "Or if you want to visit."

Lupinius chuckles softly* "I see... well, I don't think we'd need a haven - we have our own, of a sort, that is very well protected, though I do think I would like to visit. But, since you have given me a key..." He takes a hand from around her waist and closes it into a fist. From in between his fingers comes a sudden blaze of brilliant, violet light for a long moment, and to anyone in the Inn there would be a sudden feeling of thick, ancient magic in the air for a moment, which fades as soon as the light in his hand does. When he opens his hand again, there is a perfectly formed, smallish amethyst point in it, attached to a slender silver chain. "As you have given me a key, let me give you one of my own."

She nodded looking at the stone. Then she looked to him, "(vq) Thank you."

Lupinius smiles, "A gift for a gift. This will access any one of the portals that leads to our Chamber...or, if you need to, you can call to me anywhere I might be with it." He takes the necklace in his hands and slips it around her neck, clasping it - not surprisingly, it fits perfectly.

She leans forward and smiles. The chain leaves the stone resting at the top of her breasts.

Lupinius smirks as he slips his arms back around her waist again. "By the way, the only way that necklace can be removed is if you take it off yourself...so you needn't worry about losing it."

She grins at him, "Oh good."

"It's the same type of magic that created the amulets myself and the others of my brotherhood wear...since we are meant to be guardians, they were made to be enduring through whatever punishment could be inflicted on them. I figured, with your profession, you might want something similar."

She nodded at the in thought. "It will be a help. I've had to rely on my wits."

He grins, "Don't we all, for the most part. I may have the protection of my amulet, but that doesn't make me invincible. Without my wits, I wouldn't be here today... Doubtless the same could be said of you. Of course, it does help to have someone by your side."

"It does help, greatly. I? have been solo for so long in my hunting." She murmured softly.

Lupinius smiles as he looks down into her eyes, his bright blue eyes softer than their normal sharp, alert appearance. "You are not the only one, Onyxia... Being the lone wolf, so to speak, has been my life for quite a bit longer than even the most long-lived of mortals draws breath. But since finding you... I think that time has come to an end. Or, at least, that is my hope."

She smiled softly, "That is my hope to, Gabriel."

He tightens his arms around her waist once more, pulling her close as he looks into her eyes. "Well...I may be being overly optimistic, but I think that both of our times alone have come to an end for a long time to come."

She reached up to caress his cheek, "Great mind think alike, I just didn't want to take it for granted."

He tilts his head at her, into that caress. "I have known the loneliness of wandering by myself for centuries, and I know without doubt that you have known that same feeling for a good, long time... 'Taking it for granted' isn't something we'll need to worry about. We haven't had long, you and I, but I can tell you that in that short span of time I don't want to go back to the way things were ever again."

She smiled at him, "I don't wish to travel along that road ever again, Gabriel."

He chuckles softly* "Well, it's good that we agree on that one thing, then... It'll be interesting to see what our first disagreement is about..."

"That should be really interesting to say the least." Still she was comfortable being held.

He sighs softly as his amulet shimmers again. "You'd think that the world could wait a little while longer...time to get back to work." Lupinius tightens his arms around Onyxia's waist and pulls her against him, touching his lips to hers for a long, tender moment before he moves them close to her ear. As he again dissolves into that shimmering of violet light, he whispers. "I'll be seeing you tomorrow, love..."

Dark Dawn ? Lupinius has never heard of it, but then, he has friends who have traveled to places he has not. If they haven't been there, chances are they can get there with greater ease than he himself can. His hand, already touching the amulet at his neck, tightens around it for a moment, and a brief, brighter glow of amethystine light shimmers in his fingers for a moment. "Well...I can't say I've heard of where you're from...but I think I know of someone who could help find it, if he has not been there himself."

There is, for a moment, a pinpoint of blue light that appears in the air. All around it wavering a dark, vaguely humanoid form that swiftly grows darker as the blue light glows brighter. In a moment, it has resolved itself into a human male, wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and cowboy boots, along with a thick silver chain much like Lupinius', complete with the amulet of stone - except his glows blue rather than violet. "You called, mon ami?" Kaleb said.

Cavina blinks tears slipping down her cheeks she looks to the fire. "I can pay... How much would he charge for rescuing my sisters from that place?" Cavina has spoken to many in this land about rescuing her sisters and had all come to the same thing gold and jewels. She suddenly shifts to her lioness form and leaps for the rafters: eyes wide and fur bristled at the new and sudden arrival.

Lupinius nods to Kaleb before looking back to the girl, who had suddenly vanished to the rafters.

Kaleb looks up too, a look of amused surprise on his face, at where the lioness had gone. His deep, baritone voice has the musical/guttural Cajun accent to it when he speaks. "Well, mon fr?re Wolfe, she's a li'l jumpy, non?"

Cavina was looking down at the two men as she snorts narrowing her eyes.

Lupinius chuckles softly as he looks up at the rafters. Kaleb could have arrived in a better manner. "You can come down, m'lady... He's harmless, unless you're a slaver or other form of evil being."

Cavina tilts her head to the side watching a moment before dropping down in front of them, as before her Human form returns as her feet touch the ground.

Onyxia pushed her way into the inn. She had expected to see Lupinius, but not Kaleb as well. This was a pleasant surprise to say the least; until she learned why he was there.

Lupinius looks up as Onyxia walks in, and smiles in genuine pleasure as he gets off the couch and walks over to her* "Well, hello again, beautiful."

Onyxia walks up to Lupinius and wraps her arms about his waist. She takes a quick look around to the other lady present.

Kaleb grins sheepishly as the girl comes back down "My apologies, mademoiselle. T'big bad Wolfe there didn' tell me what he needed me here for."

Lupinius slips his arms around Onyxia as they drew close "I was beginning to think you weren't coming." He said teasingly.

Kaleb directs his gaze around to see Onyxia and Lupinius embracing, raising an eyebrow at the couple, a look of surprise on his face for a moment before he wipes it off again.

Cavina steps back a few steps her eyes shifting to the woman coming in. Fighting off the fear she glances again at the rafters. Taking a deep breath she looks to the man speaking to her, her silver eyes flashing in the firelight. "Forgive me sir I am and escaped slave and I fear that my punishment if I am recaptured is death. "

Onyxia grinned at Lupinius, "(vq) I would find a way to tell you if I couldn't." She winked at Kaleb and the focused her silver gaze on the other lady; the scent of cat and dead things on her.

Onyxia

Lupinius catches Kaleb looking as he looks back around to see what Onyxia is stealing a glance at. "And you, my friend, had better not say a word. Especially to Wraith." He gives Kaleb a mock glare.

Kaleb tips an imaginary hat to Onyxia as he grins at Lup, chuckling. "Not t'worry, mon ami. Yer secret's safe wit' me." He turns his gaze back to the girl, nodding his understanding:: "I un'r'stand, ma'am... Y'c'n ne'er tell who's who, ev'n here."

Cavina nods and crouches watching those in the room. " You friend said you might know the land from which I have come from. My home land Called 'Dark Dawn.' I was a slave there for sixteen years. My two sisters are still trapped there. Anyone even part shifter was forced into slavery" A tear slips down her cheek.

Onyxia?s eyes shift to wolf perceivably at the girl's words. Still, she was leaving this to the Guardian's present, which she was not.

Kaleb looks back at Lup for a moment. He's never heard of it either, but finding places is something he's good at. "Well, petit, I can't say's I've ev'r heard of m'self... But if'n you want t'have a seat, and y'c'n d'scribe it well enough, I b'lieve I c'n get there." He motions to a nearby table.

Lupinius catches the shift in Onyxia's eyes as he looks back to her... Knowing her feelings on the matter at hand match his own, he says to her quietly. "You know you are welcome to come with me on anything we Guardians are called to do... If you wish to."

Cavina glances at the three of them as they all shift looks back and forth to one another. Her fear heightens a bit but feels she should try and trust them. She moves to the table and sits quietly. Reaching in her cloak she pulls out two pieces of steel, she slides them on to the table and one can see that once placed together they form a cruel heavy collar. ?These are the collars we are forced to wear, even the small children? They also keep us from changing form - some form of enchantment."

Kaleb follows Cavina to the table and sits on the side opposite of her. When she sets the metal down on the table, he looks the pieces over carefully, but doesn't touch them - yet. He can feel the enchantment she's talking about - without the magic, they are nothing more than plain metal, as far as he can tell. Still, he wouldn't want to put it on, enchantment or no. "I see...in't'restin'. An' t'e metal in t'ese comes fr'm yer home land?"

Cavina fingers the collar lightly like it may jump up and reattach itself to her neck. Frowns she glances up at him "I am not sure, sir. I just wore it I didn't make it, the humans in charge had something called ...mines..."

Kaleb nods at that. Probably were made from native metals, then... Good. It'll make it easier. He could still find it even if they were not, it'd just take a bit more work. But this way is easier - they'll be more attached to the land she came from. He reaches out and touches her hand lightly, gently removing it from the collar. "Easy, now, petit. It can't hurt you an'more, but y'shouldn' dwell too much on it." His voice now is lower, soothing, gentle.

Onyxia smiled at Lupinius. She murmured, "(vq) We can talk about it more later."

Lupinius smiles as he looks down into her eyes and then leads her to the couch, which is not far from where Kaleb and the girl sit. "Well... just so you know, I would like it if you did. And besides, we may need someone of your... abilities."

Cavina stiffens a bit at his touch but relaxes as he speaks she nods and looks to the fire. "The humans had us all branded so that they would know us when they saw us." Turning a bit she removes her cloak. The back of her dress was low cut enough for him to see the nearly foot long lightning bolt shaped burn scar in her back running from her left shoulder blade to the center of her spine. She covers it back up with her cloak and turns to look back to Kaleb. "As I told your friend, when I escaped I boarded a ship and traveled 6 nights on it as far as I could tell we were headed south perhaps slightly west at times but mostly south.?

Onyxia settles onto the couch looking at Lupinius, "There's no question of my helping should you need." The scar on Cavina?s back has her frowning deeply.

The amulet of amethyst that Lupinius had given Onyxia has many functions. Among them is that it allows him to sense her, wherever she is. As he focuses upon it, it tells he she's curled up on one of the chairs in the upper level of Teas'n'Tomes, the place they have taken to visiting to avoid the chaos of the Inn when they are spending those rare, snatched moments together.

He pushes the door open and enters the shop, looking for once as though he's comfortable with himself again. It has taken some getting used to, but he's adjusted to having the wings on his back. He looks up and just spies the top of Onyxia's head, given away by the telltale green of her hair. For a moment, he looks at the stairs, then grins and looks around. There's just enough room for this. He sweeps those wings wide and crouches slightly, then leaps up, the wings pushing down and cupping the air, pushing him upwards with great strength. The sudden commotion draws a shout from the old man that runs the place as he ascends to the balcony-type second floor and lands lightly on his feet with a grin. "You know, love, I do believe I've gotten the hang of this."

She laughs softly, "I dare say you have. Much to the chagrin of the owner." She smiled at him softly though. The upper levels afford them a bit more privacy in the secluded nooks.

He smiles back at her as his wings fold in close to his back once more and he walks over to her. "I think he'll get over it. At least I didn't tear the place up in the process."

"Thankfully." She uncurls and stands to greet him properly. That means wrapping herself around him for a kiss. As she steps close to him, he wraps his arms and wings around them both and capturing her lips with his own for a long, tenderly lingering kiss. A throaty sort of groan escapes his vocal cords as they kiss. Her lips dance across his and the groan excites her a bit. She has missed him even if it has only been a few hours.

As they finally break apart, his blue eyes glow with that inner, violet light for a moment as he stares into hers. Quietly, he whispers, "I missed you."

She doesn't move from the circle of his arms "I've missed you too."

He sighs, making no move to let her go. "Maybe we need a new occupation." For a second, he is almost able to keep a straight face saying that.

"Maybe, but we would get bored fast."

"Quite true. Besides, if we quit, that would be two less champions the helpless would have. And I couldn't see us doing anything different with our lives." He smiles at her. "So...if we were to make things official...who would you want to invite, if anyone?" They had a couple nights previous been talking about the possibility of getting married, but they had really only touched on the subject...he's been thinking about it ever since.

She murmurs softly, "Just my family. I truly don't know anyone else beside you and Kaleb. The Guardians would be a given."

"Well, naturally. And I would certainly hope you would want your family there. And I can't think of anyone else, aside from maybe a certain Jedi I know, and perhaps Sir Roland if he had a mind."

"Yes, ROland, and maybe the Baron."

"The Baron...I've met him once, in passing, but I think he would like that, from what I know of him." He stops, suddenly, tilting his head at her. "I know it's a funny question to be asking now...but you would really want this?"

She reached up to caress his cheek, "Yes. You?"

His hand comes up to stroke her cheek with his fingertips. "More than anything...though there is one thing that needs to be done first."

"That is, love?"

He grins, and without warning, he kneels, dropping to one knee in one fluid movement in a most traditional manner. The wings curl around the two of them, forming a circle in which she is enclosed, and from seemingly nowhere, he produces a ring, a thick platinum band set with three stones - a cut and polished emerald, flanked by two, smaller amethysts. It looks very sturdily made, yet feminine at the same time. "Onyxia Uth Dravon Dragonbane, I love you and can think of no other I would desire to be my love, my mate and my wife for as long as we shall endure. Will you marry me?"

She blinks back the surprise. As unorthodox as they are, having this traditionally done only endears him more to her. "Yes, Lupinius." She says it softly, and he does not miss the surprise in her voice.

He grins at the surprise that registers clearly in her eyes and in his own mind as he takes her hand and slips the ring on it. It would fit perfectly, of course - he had had it magically made. As he stands, he wraps her in his arms again, looking into her eyes. His own shine with happiness. "I couldn't think of continuing that conversation without asking you, my love...and it had to be done right. So...shall we go somewhere to celebrate?"

"Yes, home."

He grins, tightening his arms around her. "Your wish, my love, is my command." The violet, shimmering light consumes them both as he takes her where they wish to go, and a moment later, they've vanished.
