The Guardian's chamber had been still, no one visiting it much for the past couple of weeks, at least. Certainly, they had not all gathered here together since the Chamber was reopened. They had not had time, with so many in need in Rhydin, to do so, and more often than not, they worked separately, not needing to come to this place, for anything the Chamber provided can be summoned at a thought. But tonight, it was time to bring them together again. For many reasons.

here is, without warning, a sudden flurrying of violet, swirling light that shivers in the air before the table in the middle, before resolving itself into the shapes of Lupinius and Onyxia, coming straight from the Inn to the Chamber in each other's arms.

As they emerge from the light, Lupinius can feel the change in the air in this place, the feeling of a holy blessing on this most unexpected of places, deep underground, it seems. The torches burn brightly on the walls, and for a place that is clearly a cavern, it is dry, warm, almost comfortable to be in. The feeling is welcome, though not so much as the home he shares with her. Still, he has been wanting to show her this place - plaine and spartan though it is, it is a place where the protectors of the world can be made to feel most welcome, and he sweeps an arm around it, smiling.

"Welcome, my love, to the Guardian's Chamber."

Moments after they've arrived, both would be able to feel the change in the air, subtle though it is, as a rippling, wavering form manifests itself one the side of the table opposite of them. The form shimmers in and out of reality for a moment before finally solidifying firmly in the human shape of Kaleb. He looks around the Chamber as he speaks.

"So, what'd be all de hubbub 'bout, mon ami? Val dropped in on me as I was makin my rounds 'bout de town, and she didn' say what was goin'...oh, hi dere, Onyxia..."

He stops talking as he spies the couple, his grey eyes glittering a moment with sapphire light as he looks at the two of them. It only takes a moment for him to deduce what's going on, and as he does so his face breaks out into an easy grin, chuckling.

"Oh, I see. Seems de two of ya's decided to finally let de cat out of de bag, hm? I gotta tell ya, dat's some kinda relief. It was killin' me, holdin' dat secret in. Did ya set a date yet?"

There is a sharp crack as the Nexus opens in their midst, setting Valeria into the Chamber as pretty as you could please, looking around with a huge smile on her face. She's practically bouncing across the Chamber as she runs over to Onyxia and gives her a hug.

"So you're getting married! That's so AWESOME!"

She giggles in a very girly fashion as she hugs Onyxia and lets her go, beaming at her. She is completely bubbling over with excitment, it seems, at the prospect.

"Michael and Fred will be here in a few moments - they have to take the long way in, they can't teleport like the rest of us. I didn't tell them what was going on, either, just told them that you wanted to see them here right now, and they didn't look too busy, and they said they'd be here right away..."

She pauses to take a breath, finally, clearly very excited.

"Well...congratulations, you two! I'm so happy for you! Although I have no idea what I'm going to wear. So where's it going to be? When is it? Who's the best man?"

She stops and waves her hands in front of her, giggling again.

"No, no, don't tell me...I'll just wait for the other two to get here!

She didn't get a chance to answer when Kaleb entered followed by Valeria. She found herself hugging the girl she just met as if they were old friends and smiling at the infectious nature of the greeting.

It felt good. The sense that she was being accepted was strong and she knew that Lupinius knew it was one of her greatest fears.

There is a gust of hot, dry wind that swirls through the air just outside the wall of mist just north of the Marketplace of Rhydin, swirling around like a texas dust-devil for a moment, before coalescing into the gritty, grizzled form of one Frederick McCarty. He looks around for a moment to assure himself he's in the right place, then without hesitations steps into the mist, heading for the portal-stone.

He had been in a little hole-in-the-wall tavern in WestEnd, having himself a beer, when Val had found him. All she would say to him was that Lupinius wanted them for some announcement or other, and he couldn't get anymore out of her. Whatever it was, he didn't need to be a genius or a mind reader to know that it had her just giddy with excitement. Whatever it was, though, had to be somewhat important, and when the boss calls, you have to go.

As he steps onto the portal-stone, the mist around him swirls dizzyingly, and there is for a moment a sickening drop in his stomach as the portal transports him to the Chamber.

From the archway across from where Lupinius, Valeria and Onyxia stand, there is a flickering, shimmering red light that gleams for a moment just as he steps into the Chamber, looking as dusty and grizzled as ever. As he steps up to the table, he tips his hat to Onyxia, a slight grin on his rugged features, saying only, "Ma'am."

The woman and he hadn't been formally introduced, though he had heard from Wraith that Lupinius had had some sort of love interest. Good for him, too - the gunslinger didn't know Lupinius well, but the man seemed far too intense, even by his standards.

He address Lupinius directly, his rough voice coming out with a definite Texas twang to it. "All right, Lup, so what's the flap 'bout? I was just enjoyin' an evenin' off and y'all had to call me away from it, so it'd better be important." The tone is not demainding, but rather a good-naturedly disgruntled question, complete with the lopsided grin that cuts through his features.

Outside the WestEnd portal, the shadows lengthen, deepen, and darken, and out of them comes the tall, broadly-muscled form of Wraith, dressed as usual for his nightly patrol in a neutral-grey, form-fitting body suit. He does not pause to look around as he steps right into the mist and steps onto the portal-stone.

Val had come to him as he had been making his patrols, nearly getting run over in the process of popping out of the Nexus as he was running over the roofs of WestEnd, making his own nightly rounds. He hadn't run across much - just a pair of back-alley thugs attempting to accost a lady, and they had been quickly taken care of. Val hadn't seemed to notice his annoyance as she told him that Lupinius was wanting everyone back at the Chamber, right now - she had seemed excited about something.

Now, as he emerges from the archway, it emits a burst of golden light, and he nods to all those assembled. His eyes for a moment pass over the woman next to Lupinius and Val, not noticing her for a moment. Then, as it registers, he looks back, doing a double take.

So this must be the woman Kaleb had gone on about that was with Lupinius. He searches his memory again for her name and comes up with it. Onyxia, he thinks.

He doesn't say anything as he walks over to the table and leans against it, just nods to all those assembled, then settles himself in to wait patiently.

"Well, now that everyone is here, I think we'll start with introducing the members of our circle that don't know each other."

He looks at Onyxia, noting with no small amount of pleasure that she and Valeria had taken to each other right off. Not that he had been worried about that, of course. Val seemed to get along with just about everyone, it seemed. though he still wouldn't want to be on her bad side - the nicest people in the world can be the worst enemies, a fact he's learned the hard way.

One of his coal-black wings extends to touch Onyxia as he speaks again. "For those of you who don't know her, this is Lady Onyxia uth Dravon Dragonbane...my mate. If any of you are wondering why I look so annoyed when you call me, chances are it's because I was with her and you interrupted." He grins. "Onyxia, you've met Kaleb, and you and Val just met today. The dusty-looking cowboy over there is Frederick McCarty, though he prefers just McCarty. And the quiet one is Michael Edward Stanton, though I believe where he's from he's known as the Wraith."

She waited until he finished introductions before smiling to each member. She nodded to Fred and Michael in greeting, "GEntlemen and Valeria, the pleasure is mine."

He bows his head to her. He had heard from Kaleb that Lupinius had been seeing Onyxia, of course. And he had talked to another woman who had said that Onyxia was quite taken with him, Shariane. The two were kin, as he understood it. A nice girl, he thought. Pretty attractive, too, come to think of that. If Onyxia were like her (and he can see she is, at least in the looks department), then Lupinius had gotten quite lucky in snagging her.

He smiles as his eyes come back up to meet hers, speaking at last. "A pleasure, Onyxia. I've met your kin, Shariane, at the Riverview Clinic."

He tips his hat to her again, a grin still on his lips. He hopes, though, that this isn't all he'd been called here for - he had been enjoying the night off, and he doesn't get many.

He is glad to see that they look happy together, though. As their de facto leader, Lupinius had struck him as being far too uptight, intense. The man needed a place to relax and someone to do it with, and - just based on what he's seen so far - he does indeed look like he's calmed down a good bit.

"A pleasure t'meet ya, ma'am. Glad to see that our fearless leader has someone to help him relax abit, too...I seem to remember thinkin' that when I met him, ya couldn't have pulled a greased BB out of his a** with a tractor." Despite his words, his tone is light, humorous.

He throws a scowl at Fred, but there's no weight behind it, and he can't help but chuckle himself. He of all of them is aware of how much less intense he's become since he and Onyxia had first met, not to mention happier all around...though no less fierce. Then again, before meeting her, he had not really been happy - his life had been emptier, driven by purpose but with no meaning behind it. As he looks down at Onyxia, he is reminded of all of that, and he can see yet again why he's doing what he says next.

"Thank you for that, Fred...and the rest of you, as well. I'm glad you all approve, because the reason I called you here is to invite you to a wedding."

He slips an arm around Onyxia's waist, those coal-black wings spreading a bit as he does so.

"Ours."

He feels his mouth fall open as Lupinius makes that last statement. He had known the two of them were together, sure, but he hadn't thought that they were contemplating marriage.

And yet, based on what he's heard about Onyxia and what he knows about Lupinius, despite his obvious surprise, it makes perfect sense. The two of them are so similar in so many ways, and he can tell just by the way Lupinius looks at her that he's not only in love with her, but is quite happy with her as well.

Then there is the whole wolf thing, both of them able to shapechange, both able combatants (if what he's heard about her is correct), similar personalities...

It seems like a perfect match. In fact, he's almost jealous.

With an effort, he closes his mouth, a smile forming on his lips. "Well...congratulations, you two!"

Fred McCarty

He's surprised, as well. Any fool could see that the two of them are obviously happy together, though, and if they're happy, then why not?

Like Wraith, he's a bit jealous, but happy for them nonetheless. Where he's from, a wedding is an occasion to celebrate, and even if the two of them aren't the most conventional couple, per se, the principle is the same.

He looks over at Wraith's openmouthed expression, a grin forming on his lips. "You're drawing flies, chummer," he says with a chuckle.

He looks back to Onyxia and Lupinius, tipping his hat to the two of them. "As Wraith said, congrats are definitely in order to the both of ya...although I don't really have any formal wear for a wedding. Any ideas as to the date? Place?"

Onyxia

She refrained from laughing at the stunned looks. Wasn't nice afterall.

"The when is up in the air at the moment. The where..." She smiled at Wraith since he mentioned her kinswoman in the first place.

"The where will be Shari's Vale. It's a private enough location that we won't have to worry about crashers."

She then smiled to Fred, "Well, that makes two of us..." She grinned at the others, "I think all of us."

He chuckles at that. Shariane's Vale?

He had met the woman - she had struck him as genuinely beautiful, but very sad. And she had given him the privelege of bringing him to the Vale that Onyxia had just mentioned.

Ever since he had left it, he had wanted to go back, as much to see it as its owner. His heart had gone out to the woman, since he knows how alone she feels.

The difference between her and he is that his is largely by choice and forced by habit, by lifestyle.

But the loneliness does get tiresome, at times.

"Well, speak for yourselves...I'm pretty sure I'll be able to come up with something fitting for a formal engagement. I haven't been to many weddings, but I've had to dress up more than a time or two for other occasions. Of course, Gabriel, if you're looking for someone to help you pick out something to wear, I'd be happy to oblige. I've been told I have great taste in tuxedoes."

He is listening to all of this with an air of amusement. He had known about the two of them getting married for weeks, and the others were just finding out about it. Of course, they might have known sooner, if Lupinius hadn't threatened him with dire retribution.

In his demon form, he might have the edge in size and brute strength, but still, he wouldn't want to take Lup on alone. Something about the way he's been...transformed...makes him seem to be a much more formidable opponent. He can sense a great and terrible power inside the former demon-turned-angel, something that is as yet untapped.

"All right, t'en. I s'pose I could find somet'ing for a form'l occasion wit'out too much trouble. Quest'n for ya, t'ough...who all else be invited? An' are we gon' be allowed t'bring a date, if'n we have one?"

He's thinking of Laniandra, the enigmatic witch he had met at the Inn and become enamoured with, at that point. A serious first date, of course, bringing her to a wedding, but then, it doesn't get much more serious than a demon marking a witch with his sigil. That is, of course, if she's willing to come...and they are allowed to bring someone.

To his surprise, no one has asked who the best man and maid of honor are to be. He has an idea of whom Onyxia might ask, but for his...well, he's not entirely sure. Decisions, decisions.

As for Kaleb's questions...

"Well, Kaleb, for the moment I think our guest list is fairly small - we didn't want this to be a huge blowout bash, really, just those close to us and a few friends. As far as you all bringing dates...well, I don't see anything really objectionable about that, so long as it's only one per person. And no troublemakers."

That was one thing that he and Onyxia had decided upon flat out - this wedding is going to be a peaceful affair. Too many nights that they could have spent peacefully together had been interrupted by some fight or another breaking out where they just happened to be, more often than not something they felt the need to intervene in. That's the downfall of being a Guardian, of course, and of being a soul like Onyxia's...some things you just can't let go without helping out.

Of course, that was how they had met originally, he remembers with a small smile. That run to the Glen to help out Icer still stands out vividly in his mind.

Onyxia

She remembers that run well. It felt good to cut loose even if she hadn't done much.

"Agreed." She smiled gently at Kaleb. She counted him as a friend from the beginning, "Of course you can bring a date. Just no troublemakers aside from yourself."

Her eyes were dancing merrily at that. She honestly didn't know who would be her maid or matron of honor. Frankly she didn't even have her father to walk her down the isle. Maybe Darius...
